For all the muscle guys who don’t know about them and want to learn, here’s a tidbit on the jz. The jz started as a Yamaha designed 2.5 liter twin turbo engine, the 1jz non vvti. Then Yamaha again helped design the 1jz vvti which was a single turbo 2.5 with a better head(not as good as the 2j tho). Then Toyota took the Yamaha engineering on their own and made the 2j, which is why 1j blocks are stamped Yamaha and 2j’s are not. So the 2j gets pretty complex lol. It’s a 3.0 engine that came twin turbo or na regardless of which one you had. Basically you had 4 options for the 2j. Ge and gte(non turbo and turbo), then vvti and non vvti for each. For the gte, an oversimplification is that the non vvti was the performance standard for a long time because the aftermarket had problems controlling the vvti heads, other than that, they’re more or less the same. For the ge though, it’s a little more complicated. Early engines were non vvti, and had a distributor. The non vvti head flows better on one side but worse on the other, and the bottom end had the same rods as the gte, higher compression pistons, without oil squirters. Of the ge, this is the best stock bottom end to make power with, but the heads can pose a problem given the flow and distributor. The vvti ge has the weakest bottom end of them all. Skinny rods, weaker pistons, etc. however, the vvti ge head flows better on both sides and has the bonus of vvti and coil on plug ignition, making it the better head to build regardless of the bottom end. Basically for a budget setup with low hp goals, stock vvti ge, head gasket/studs, then run it(400-500 safety limit typically). For budget big power, non vvti ge bottom end and vvti head(600-700 safely usually), for no holds barred, whatever forged bottom end with a built and ported ge vvti head. All that Aside, I absolutely Love this car mike! Would be sick to see some sort of angle kit or something when you redo the suspension. Maybe convert it to like s-chassis or e36/46 front suspension? I doubt you’d do it but since all the factory metal is gone it would be rad, especially considering the aftermarket support for those chassis!
That car is probably 800lbs heavier than an S chassis, and they don't have particularly beefy front suspension as is, he'd probably trash even aftermarket control arms. Building strut towers and mounting points and getting the geometry right is probably way more work than he is willing to put into that junk anyway. Best bet is probably just getting it as close to not totally clapped out as possible with current type of setup. In the spirit of what Freiburger says; get it working, don't get it right. This car drives but that's about all you can say for it, getting the suspension to the other charger's standard would be bare minimum for getting it working.

for radiators, Ive been using the 2004-2007 silverado 2500 radiators. You can get them with a fan shroud and twin 16" electric fans. The setup is meant to cool a large truck with a 6.0l LS motor. For MOST of what I do, it is a good upgrade that never overheats

First off, this car is GREAT!! I wouldn't change much, if anything at all 😁 That said: The GTE is also oil squirted, you can drill the GE block for oil squirters (like the LS people do), and add con-rods = No longer a 500$ motor. Another goodie is Accusump so you can prime the oil before starting, and I personally CAN NOT stress holding the clutch in when starting, you'll save the heck out of the thrust bearings (on any motor). Some people go in expecting Toyota's to take it all without reservation = Not the case, then again, not my money 😂 That said, with my Toyota heritage squared (I love the things, sue me), don't get me wrong when I say I'm seeing major discrepancies here. Just what level of care is this, SWEATING while checking the oil filter on a "shitty" N/A 2J block, but blow up a Hemi every meet = No stress? 🤣

He said in the video it was making 600 or so, around 4 something to the wheels. Believe I heard him say that was about 200 more than the old engine so id say its definitely got the power. Id love to go for a ride in it as well
the 383 was making all of 320hp when they took it out. the turbo 2JZ is probably sitting at about 520hp at the crank if it's at 450wheel. Mike saying it's a 600hp motor means 600 is what it'll safely make with the current rods/pistons in the bottom end

I'm MUCH happier (and have more hours to do important sanctuary work) after I quit keeping my ancient Subaru Forester shiny and clean at all times. I love the way my car looks when clean and shiny (it looks amazing for 20 year old paint on a 350,000 mile car) but living on a dirt road, doing 30-35,000 miles a year on sanctuary business (I help run a sanctuary for special needs cats) it takes SO many hours to keep looking nice. So, clean wheels, wax then ceramic coat on the headlights, I'm happy.

considering the power, responsiveness, and being on a cast manifold, the turbo is in the low/mid 6x mm range. probably 6266 or maybe a 6466. please do a sidepipe with a recirculated wastegate! that will sound much better
The Lexus GS300 in 1993 came with the turbo block non-turbo car they were very quick you might be able to pick one of those up cheap and get that upgraded block
What about running the exhaust over to the drinkers side and up over the windshield/door frame, and sommers off the roof? At least you'd be able to see and it seems cheaper than going down through the car? dunno, quite enjoying this episode FG, much fun and learnings :) Holy-hell, you could do a dual roof-top smoke-puffer!
You can weld a gas tank by filling it with the exhaust from a running car. Leave it running while you weld it. If it has baffles in the tank, all the compartments need to be filled with the exhaust.
I made it 2 years without the Rona. Went to visit family in CA. Came back and had it. But it was super mild. Nothing more than a stuffed up nose. Thanks for the laughs. And the death metal is looking amazing.
you should build an internal surge tank and put it inside of the big one, overflow just "leaks" into the big one and you will keep the benefits of the surge tank with less things to go wrong than with an extrenal :)
If you want to keep the cool patina on the bars but don't want to have to keep sanding them just sand them and brush them with Penetrol. It'll give a satin clear protectant on it
Inline Sixes are the best Engine configuration. I don't normally watch the Roadkill guys anymore because it's just the same old Merica Pig Iron, but this was a little different. Some V8s are cool and sound good like the new Mustang GT350s, but Im all about the old 80s & 90s BMWs. The M3 that had a V8 is something that I've been considering, but it just seems a little off even though it is the last NA engine which is cool.
Love the hour long vid the funniest part of the vid though was when newbern was climbing out of the car a the gas station u can hear him rip one n he non salauntly plays it off like he didn't just rip one lol 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dude, i know youve got a pneumatic die grinder, you shouldve just went to harbor freight and bought the $12 diamond wheel kit. Save money and still have easy access right where youre welding to sharpening. Trust me, i tig 6 days a week professionally. If youre welding Ali, use a shallower angle, 30-25° and knock the tip off at the end. Dont forget to set an up and down slope, if your machine dosent have those options, use a foot pedal and turn your amps up just beyond what you think youll need. If youve got a good tig rig, just put the arc balance in auto.
I've always loved the roadkill cars cuz it show people you don't have to be rich to have cool cars and it's way more fun when you built it for no money and your not scared to mess it up
Definitely think deathmetal deserves better suspension/lots of steering angle and a nascar style side exit exhaust

Why only 360P no 1080?
maybe still uploading HD
Good to actually see a Motec in something, I don't know if it's not mentioned or what, but it just seems like no one runs Motecs despite how big and how good they are, always heaps about haltech though, but I keep not hearing good things about them. M800 going in my wrx once I build the loom for it.
Re upload it. It is stuck in the UA-cam 360p hell.
And here I thought it was just me.
Thanks.
considering the power, responsiveness, and being on a cast manifold, the turbo is in the low/mid 6x mm range. probably 6266 or maybe a 6466.
please do a sidepipe with a recirculated wastegate! that will sound much better
Sounds like an old farmall 300 tractor
The Lexus GS300 in 1993 came with the turbo block non-turbo car they were very quick you might be able to pick one of those up cheap and get that upgraded block
360p gang 😂
Same.
Anyone else stuck watching this at 360p?
Yeah, it's taking forever to render the higher resolutions (if it even has them)
You can weld a gas tank by filling it with the exhaust from a running car. Leave it running while you weld it. If it has baffles in the tank, all the compartments need to be filled with the exhaust.
I’m so early this is only in 360p
It's taking forever to render the higher resolutions.
Thanks!
holy cow! thank you Ashley! that is an amazing thank you.
Is it me because the video is playing in 360 instead of 1080?
Not just you.
Polished turd through and through all the way!
Yeah, VHS quality. Yuck. I thought it might by my computer but me new Roku Ultra did the same thing. 360p with no other options.
When that 2J spools up! Cool conversion, love the sound of that motor. :)
Hell YEAH !!
Wrong channel.
@@mikek5298 Then leave.
I got nothing but love for Ga! That's some beautiful country up in north Georgia, enjoy..
I love the custom flat stock brackets used to keep the windshield from flying out hahaha attention to detail 👌👍🏻
the manual handle for a separate front brake Master Cylinder came in handy on a friends exhibition car. 3/4 track burnouts were no problem!
If you want to keep the cool patina on the bars but don't want to have to keep sanding them just sand them and brush them with Penetrol. It'll give a satin clear protectant on it
As you got rid of the flexi hoses, the cooling system will work just fine. I love this machine.
Your dog is the high point of my day. Good dog!
Can’t go wrong with a 2j or an rb greatest sound i6’s imo
Inline Sixes are the best Engine configuration. I don't normally watch the Roadkill guys anymore because it's just the same old Merica Pig Iron, but this was a little different. Some V8s are cool and sound good like the new Mustang GT350s, but Im all about the old 80s & 90s BMWs. The M3 that had a V8 is something that I've been considering, but it just seems a little off even though it is the last NA engine which is cool.
Also, peep that engine and jet drive installed on the Eliminator tunnel hull over there. Need an update episode.
When blowing air through a K&N filter, you should use an inverted criss cross pattern
My god what a machine. I have to see more of this diabolical creation.
I just sold my JZX90 Chaser with a straight piped 1JZ-GTE so hearing this thing with the big cams made me so happy!!
I've always loved the roadkill cars cuz it show people you don't have to be rich to have cool cars and it's way more fun when you built it for no money and your not scared to mess it up
