As a European, seeing a truck and trailer combination like this always makes me laugh as I imagine it driving on our roads. Never underestimate the places a seasoned country boy (or girl) can successfully navigate with those ginormous rigs, lol. I do love the wide open spaces we have here in the states so we can have our fun with our big toys.
Because of all the tiny roads over there, you're really missing out by not being able to have large pickup trucks. The modern ones can do everything. Tow, haul, work, they cart the whole family around in luxury, can go off road and are great in snow and a lot of them are pretty fast. They really are a do everything vehicle.
This totally had the vibe of a Roadkill episode.....Love that squarebody, but leaving on a roadtrip without wipers, heat or defrost?..... All the bolts shaking out suggests that driveshaft angles aren't right .... Will be a great tow rig eventually
Pretty questionable to keep driving in those conditions without defrost or wipers. Get into an accident, and watch your insurance wash their hands of you, leaving you responsible for any damage and liability. Love these guys, but not cool, in my book.
It’s amazing what you forget when your project starts to take shape and you can’t wait to drive it. Lol. Been there. Done that. Hold my beer! Watch this.
VINs on all major car components did not start until the mid/late 60s The early Firebirds stamped bodies (2-3 places) trans, block, along with the VIN tag. In the 50s I believe there is 1 VIN and pre-50s there was only the block serial number.
So many people would just see a yard full of scrap. Dicky is lucky to have known you, that can keep his dream alive. You guys are worth so much more than MotorTrend.
The walk through the yard, the music, it really struck a cord. Reminded me of when I lost my old man. I grew up wanting all his junk. I didn't realize then, what I would have to lose to get those things. It wasnt a fair trade. See you on the other side old man.
And this is why you always build with wipers and heater, because if the original smokey and the bandit taught us anything, its that it definitely rains between georgia and texas and you need warm air to de-fog the inside of a windshield, or if the rain turns solid... to defrost the inside of the windshield.
We bought a Nomad from Dickie a few years ago. Love it even more now. He was a great guy. I figured this was the honey pot of Chevys y’all mentioned. I believe he is proud y’all are able to use what he cherished

Some time in your life, you need to just throw caution to the wind. Load up in an old car/truck/hot rod and just go do "it" without thinking, planning or worrying about the logistics. Too many people live in a small bubble of the world scared by anything outside of their comfort zone. You get a call to go pick up 4 shoebox Chevys, you don't try to figure how to make it work, you just jump on it and think about it later. And I gotta add, Aaron is such a lucky guy, Emily is an absolute Babe but I'm sure he's already well aware of it lol.
This. I just finished rebuilding the front suspension and brakes, rear suspension, subframe, diff, axles, etc on my 350-swapped '73 Jaguar XJ and I may or may not put it up in the air and put a lock washer or Loctite on every single bolt. The way I drive, I'll need all the help I can get.
Go straight to safety wiring your bolts. Simpler, saner, you'll never have doubts about it. Just that little bit of extra work guarantees peace of mind. Short of shearing off, they will never fall off.
Have you thought of doing a ghost long roof estate similar to a Buick Cabelaro estate, on a 57 sport 4 door. Caused reckon it'll blow people's mind on the hot rod scenes.
From the prior episode Dickie was a great guy!! Condolences to the family. On the Finnegan / Newbern side of things their luck (negative and positive) continues to entertain. Tough circumstances

So many people would just see a yard full of scrap. Dicky is lucky to have known you, that can keep his dream alive. You guys are worth so much more than MotorTrend.
Thank you Dickie for save all those cars. Rest in peace sir
The walk through the yard, the music, it really struck a cord. Reminded me of when I lost my old man. I grew up wanting all his junk. I didn't realize then, what I would have to lose to get those things. It wasnt a fair trade. See you on the other side old man.
Godspeed Dickie bless you for saving all those old 57 Chevy‘s Stoked you got the call to save some more really dig the wagon and 55
And this is why you always build with wipers and heater, because if the original smokey and the bandit taught us anything, its that it definitely rains between georgia and texas and you need warm air to de-fog the inside of a windshield, or if the rain turns solid... to defrost the inside of the windshield.
Awesome episode!!! Sad episode as well. RIP Dickie!!! OMG how did you guys drive like that????? I thought I recognized that voice...Hey Emily!!
Haha!! Hiiii!!
Great hardship road trip. thank you for saving the tri 5s. This is what we all endure for our love of old iron.
First time one of these shows has actually made me sad... RIP Dickey
Damn, poor Dickie, RIP. What a road trip, thanks for the video Dave and Fin!
You know trips like that you never forget. If nothing happened you'd forget about it in 6 months.
We bought a Nomad from Dickie a few years ago. Love it even more now. He was a great guy. I figured this was the honey pot of Chevys y’all mentioned. I believe he is proud y’all are able to use what he cherished
What a bummer Dicky had to meet another idiot drunk driver. RIP Dicky 🙏 prayers for your family, and friends!
My condolences to Dickeys family. Sad to see him in one episode and gone in another. Happy to see all that potential in his yard go to good places. Love to see a forklift carrying classics to a trailer for people to take home and not the crusher!
I hope every car in that yard goes to someone who will remember the name Dickie Jones. What a treasure and I hope to leave half the collection he had
Guys I'm in new Zealand lover of these cars .it's a feild of dreams there.ive always wanted a 57.im 52now wrecked cars 20yrs I wasted so many opportunities with cars .didn't think much those days but now rare
Rip man but glad to see some cars living on Again
That four-door Nomad is 🔥 fire. My favorite 😍.
RIP Mr. Dickey sir. GODSPEED.
Also, medium strength Loctite is your friend. Ask Harley owners, they know.
Aaron has a tshirt hat says"sorry girls, I only date models"
Y'all are making me paranoid about any build I do in the future. Gonna keep Dave's "Lock washers are your friend" mantra in mind.
That and Loctite.
Cross threading is better than any loctite
@@glenjamindle exactly XD
Go straight to safety wiring your bolts. Simpler, saner, you'll never have doubts about it. Just that little bit of extra work guarantees peace of mind. Short of shearing off, they will never fall off.
When you got out by Abilene it made me smile, I lived there for 4 years and loved it.
Have you thought of doing a ghost long roof estate similar to a Buick Cabelaro estate, on a 57 sport 4 door.
Caused reckon it'll blow people's mind on the hot rod scenes.
such a bitter sweet video you all get to buy some good cars but an amazing men has left this world
My Grandfather died at 93 because of a drunk with 3 DUI's, He was a WWI vet. I agree, If you drink and drive. YOU SUCK!!!
yeah fuck that guy. :/
Newbern is a very likable guy. Fun to see an episode that is all his.
I'm so jealous but this! My dream car is a 57. RIP Dickie!
Somebody give Big Bad John one of those 57s, c'mon Santa Newbern
Not because Finnegan’s absence, but surely one of the coolest episodes.
Congrats on the great haul!
Now that’s something to remember years down the road
From the prior episode Dickie was a great guy!! Condolences to the family.
On the Finnegan / Newbern side of things their luck (negative and positive) continues to entertain.
Tough circumstances
haha I'm willing to bet the bolts shrunk and backed out from the sudden cold. glad you guys are alright and got your cars
It sucks that that old timer Dickie is gone, but it's also kinda a positive thing.. old dude was perfectly willing to let those amazing cars rot into the ground rather than part with them. Such is life I suppose, change is the only constant.
if you knew him you woud not say that he sold me parts he was fair i always loved his convertible first saw it in 1985
i hope they put the person that killed Dicky in jail and throw way the key!!!!!!!
Sunday morning, coffee. Glad to join on the road trip. 👍🏻
dude you cant leave me hangin like this, Did you make it home in time?
What a great episode. Seems like Flying Sparks Garage is the hub for fixing things with this crew. Great find. Can’t wait to see what y’all do with them.
RIP Dicky. Hope that drunk driver will be in jail his or her whole life.
Why keep him alive
More trips like this! I miss doing this stuff with my Dad decades ago.
RIP Dickie
Every man needs a wife like Emily
SHE'S A HOTTIE!! :O)
I forgot all about that El Camino I saw in the other video.
I would love to have it.
Sitting in Colorado laughing at the reaction to all that snow.
Same 😂
Glad you saved the cars and made it home, great show.🚗🚗🚗👍👍👍😊
I love how Emily is just teasing the guys the whole time
Grinding their gears.
Hehehe!!! Keeping myself entertained for SURE 🤪
Awesome episode!
Sucks that the old chap passed, but good to see his collection lives on in other hands.
WELCOME BACK TO FINNEGANS GARAGE!!!!
Emily is a freeking ray of sunshine. Such a positive vibe!
Sure appreciate that!!!
