I run a very small roadside motel, When I see a guest using our towels for cleaning their cars, boats, or snowmobiles I right away go and take it away from the guest and then go into their room and remove ALL towels, hand towels and wash cloths. They want to play games like that causing us undue costs then they can live without having towels in their rooms.
I manage and clean 2 Airbnbs only one of the houses has an issue with staining towels and it's mainly from make up. We have been providing facial wipes at the one and have fewer issues. So I got some and placed at the problem house and we'll see if that works. We had even tried putting out black wash cloths that specialty say make up but that wasn't working either. It actually made it worse because guests were washing the bkack ones with the whites. The stained towels were placed by the washer / dryer to be used for messy clean ups, muddy dog feet etc. Since this house is larger with a pool table it attracts partiers as well. However, make up seems to be the hardest to remove.
I remove makeup with no issue. I got thru my towels and put away the ones with makeup stain. Put my gloves on and wash them with dish soap. Comes right off.
While I'm cleaning up the rest of the bnb and washing linens, I'll clean a bath tub and take all the soiled towels and soak them. I add a 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide, 1 cup of oxi and a tide pod and fill with warm water until all towels are fully submerged. They soak for about 3hrs then I wringe them out slightly, and then place them in the washer to cycle and add the same amount of detergent again. If you have more time to soak 24hrs it does have much better results. Also I woukd discourage guests from washing linens during their stay, and offer a weekly linen service for longer extended stays.
Back for more tips! OMG used Castille soap on my baseboards that needed done the hard way and it worked so well- then...I washed my walls with it! Not sure if I should have used on my walls, but it removed all kinds of crud (from my grandkids throwing food and milk) they are older now and don't do that lol, but it worked fabulous without much scrubbing as I am a grandma and need the chemicals to work for me! and I had a full bottle of it sitting in the basement. Now, It will be my go to for hard jobs and will last forever since i just need a drop! I am going to stock up on oxiclean now too!
Thanks for sharing your experience! Fake tan can be tough on white towels. While some say it's just a cost of doing business and not to charge, others believe it’s reasonable to ask guests to cover the cost when the stains are stubborn and can’t be removed.
I always buy cheap wash cloths to wash my face/remove makeup. I get them in bulk, and at the end of my stay, I pitch ‘em. I don’t even use anyone else’s wash cloths but I can imagine what an issue that is for Airbnb hosts.

Oh no, that sounds pretty serious. I'm sorry that happened to you.
Literally so dumb

I’m new to hosting and I love the “strange towels” idea! Thankfully I have yet to accumulate any, but a nifty tip to keep in mind nonetheless!
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching!

Raven, Thanks so much for sharing these tips!
Iron out works faster. Takes out stains that oxyclean couldn’t

That is awesome, thanks for sharing!!
I have an Airbandb and find the worst stain on our white towels is fake tan. I have charged guests to replace towels I have been unable to clean.

Great piece of information.
Thanks for watching. Hopefully this is an issue that can be managed. Many newer BNB's struggle with this.

You are an awesome guest! Thanks for sharing your wash cloth hack!!
Hi Angela, Great tips! I tried to join the community, but it requires a login, there is no option to join
I can't wrap my head around how to tell guests there are "strange" towels. How would you phrase that?
Perhaps put a note on the bathroom mirror that there are cleaning cloths underneath the sink for uses other than bathing
Hey! Sorry I'm late to this! I hope you got it figured out- how did it go? 😊
How do you remove hair dye from white bath towel
Have you tried soaking the towel (check that it’s bleach safe) in a bleach solution (1/4 cup in 1 gallon of bleach)?
@@AskAngelaBrown Oct clean spray worked great! Got all the hair dye out.
I mean oxyclean, oops
Shine WooD floors safely
You’re right : )
Hey your teeth look awesome!!!!☺️

Hot water, oxy, bluing
Thank you for sharing this tip!👍
This is your big issue?? What about when the host doesn’t have a working toilet and won’t respond with a solution?
That sounds like a very unfortunate experience. How did you resolve it? Thank you for watching. 🙂
