      Angela you are amazing. I spent my entire week watching your playlists and I am amazed on how much knowledge you have and how generous you are in sharing with us. I just regret that I heard of you after 16 years of sheer abuse, because they knew about it and I did not know, just let people take so much advantage of me. May God bless you and prosper you❤🙏

    I have been cleaning and working for myself for 8 years now. I watch your videos regularly. This is actually not the first time watching this particular video. The very best advice I have ever been given is to do a flashlight walk thru. Not only does it help me to assess the job beforehand, but I avoid bringing in items that I will not need to use that day. Very helpful.

    I'm glad you covered this topic. I was the General Cleaner of the hotel I worked at. I did 4 rooms a day, dusting the highs that aren't cleaned by the every day housekeeping, pulling appliances and cleaning behind them, flipping mattresses, scrubbing tiles and listing any repairs needed by the maintenance crew. I started as a regular housekeeper, but they added that job position for me because I couldn't stand dirty Keurigs or carpet strings needing trimmed or paint missing. I also checked fire alarms. The tests wouldn't go through the whole system and alert anyone, but if it was triggered the hotel was evacuated immediately. I only worked in rooms that had already been cleaned by housekeeping. It is absolutely a maintenance job. You explained this magnificently.

    I like your motivation technique of equating it to how much the person is paying. It's important because as you continual clean someones house over time it can feel like groundhog day. When I go into someones house to combat this I now tell myself clean this house like its the first time doing it. So I tell myself I need to impress these people. It's really important because you will lose customers if you look at a house like its groundhog day again.

    We were at a vacation house & it looked clean to me however a grandchild's feet were getting dirty & it was determined that the floors had not been moped. A call to the owner & he sent people over quickly to clean. Another time I filled in for my sick sister in law & the home owner tried to get me to take on her home permanently. I sure wasn't going to take the home from my sister in law and I advised the home owner of this. She was disappointed but understood.

    Great idea about texting a photo of the room with more stuff in it than usual!
    What if you're waiting and waiting and waiting and they dont reply? Or worse, they're angry/insulted by the "this room doesnt look as it usually does" comment? (Background; I live in an area where people are not very polite😁)

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 роки тому +4

      It's helpful to have an agreement with the client that if you are at their home and have a comment, question or emergency that you have a number to reach them where they will respond. You also need an agreement of what will happen in the event that they don't respond. Do you leave the room untouched? Or use common sense to make the best decision?

    So, question about blinds. Do they always have to be cleaned? They are really flimsy and if they haven’t been kept clean are really difficult to get sticky, solid dirt off of them.
    I’d rather leave them alone. They break easily too.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  Рік тому +2

      If you have set of blinds that can be replaced cheaper than you can clean them - that is advisable. Maybe the owner can buy some that don't break as easily.
      NOTE: If you are cleaning them and they break, without a waiver, you will be responsible to replace them.

    I had a cleaner come for the first time today, I paid her for a 3 hour deep clean of the bathroom, kitchen, living room. just realized she mopped the kitchen floor but not the bathroom floor. She also said she would clean the oven ( I didn’t ask for it but she mentioned it). I’m not sure if she just ran out of time or forgot. I’m not sure if I should mention it to her. She’s an
    Independent cleaner, not with a service etc.

      You could mention it in a friendly way and suggest making a checklist for future cleanings. It will help to keep things in order, with both of you agreeing on what needs to be done. This way, expectations are clear, and the process runs smoothly.

    Angela, thank you so much for your product reviews, especially going over the safety sheets. I am trying to switch between those effective but highly toxic - either for me or the environment - and environmentally safe cleaners. For example, using a mixture of Dr. Bonner's Castile soap, baking soda, vinegar and water as a soft scrub. This might not be practical for a cleaning business, but for a person keeping their own home clean, it is achievable. I was wondering if you had any experience with products such as Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day and other commercially available cleaners that are - or claim to be - completely biodegradable and safe, and if you've had experience with some of the DIY cleaning solutions such as the one I mentioned above.

    What happens if the house is too dirty for a maintenance/general clean? I have been into the majority of homes where people ask for a maintenance clean when their house has been neglected for several years. There’s very thick dust on the cabinets, grease etc. So I explain my standards and they’re unhappy. But I do not clean things halfway and maintain a partially cleaned home.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 роки тому +1

      This sounds like a tricky situation. They may think deep clean = $$$. You can explain to them that you can agree on a price and timeframe but that you won’t be able to clean the entire house in that time. Hopefully, they will like the results so much they will want to be added to your regular schedule. Keep me posted on what happens. 😊

      Wow, cleaning that many trinkets, tchotchkes, collectibles can take quite a while. I suggest during the walkthrough you bring it to the attention of the homeowner on how they want it handled. Some people may say skip over it and others may want each one dusted which will add more time/cost to the job. Thank you for writing in. 🤗

      @AskAngelaBrown  Рік тому +1

      When it comes to paying for cleaning services, a client hiring a cleaner for 4 hours a day, 2 days a week has a few options. They can choose to pay an hourly rate, multiplying the rate by the total hours worked. Alternatively, a flat rate can be agreed upon for the specific tasks or time period. Another possibility is negotiating a package rate for the month or week, including a set number of hours or sessions. Lastly, paying per cleaning visit is an option, with a predetermined fee per visit. The choice of payment method should be discussed and clarified between the client and the cleaning service provider to ensure mutual understanding and agreement.

He also has an office like 5 min from his home and he says he just wants the bathroom done and that it should take 15 20 min and that what I don’t like that he decides how much time it will take me to clean. I’m working by hour and he only wants me to do 5 hrs. When I go 2 times a month. My question is if the house and office can go together ? I want to do a good cleaning in the office but he wants me to only do the bathroom then go to his house. The pay is good the only thing is he says he doesn’t care about his house being tidy he just does it because if his gf. But that’s not my problem like to do a good job and I like it when most of my clients pay me what ever hours it takes but not this one also I did raise the price so I think that’s why but he doesn’t want to invest to much on his cleaning and I feel bad because he really doesn’t care or looks forward to having a clean house he mostly dies it becuase his gf is telling him. I also don’t like him telling me to do the office first then his home I like to slaw decide how to do my job. He’s a bit special but I’m glad that we are communicating and Tomarrow morning were going to talk about the cleaning after the deep cleaning and that will be 2 times a month if he decides to keep me. He only wants me to do 5 hours every 2 weeks plus the office and I quess I’ll keep track of what sometimes I can do different things just to keep the house kept up. Probably no one will read this but I needed to vent about this. He has 2 cats too.

      @@genxx2724 right but how would a company quote a job? Based on the profitably they want , and the only way to get to that is to bid based on how much cost you think it’s gonna take, which is how many hours it’s gonna take

    Thanks for your videos Angela, hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Would you say that always starting with the bathroom, then kitchen, and then the living room is a good order, before doing the other areas when your cleaning as a solo cleaner? Thank you!

      Whatever order works best for you is the best order. If the client is home I always ask the client "Where would you like me to start today so I won't be in your way?" That let's them be in control while staying out of the way so I can clean. It's a win-win for everyone.

      @@bkirstie I work from home so stay in my office at front of house. My cleaning lady only sees me when she's almost done. She mops the living room, I put on clean socks & move outside to my car in the garage. I meet her out front, pay her, & when floors are dry I go back in. Or put on 2nd pair of clean socks & go inside to work.

    How do you determine you price for your service?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 роки тому +2

      For house cleaning the rate is based on the geographic area where you live first - because every area will have an amount the market is willing to pay. Then you base it on the physical labor time required to do the job - which is determined by the scope of the job (or what the cleaner and the homeowner agree on.)
      Next, you figure out your costs of doing the job (supplies, equipment, travel time, and fixed expense.)
      If you are doing the same type of work routinely, it is easy to figure out the costs because only the variables change slightly, (level of clutter in a home, how many members of the house are actively using the house (bedrooms and bathrooms getting regular use) Does that make sense?

    My homemaking job “cleaning job” is much much less of maintenance cleaning. It’s literally just the basics. Sweep, mop, dust, dishes.

    Do you leave anything personalized? Or like a signature for "I was here" ?
    Sort of like the mint on a pillow. Lol
    I was thinking of leaving a thank you card on the counter or maybe at the door..

      No. We have a 22 touch point process that are visible things we do in every home that at a conscious or unconscious level let the customer know "I was here". We don't believe in gimmicks to stand out - we just provide an undeniable excellent service that is unforgettable.

      Maintenance cleaning includes dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, and basic bathroom and kitchen cleaning. Changing a bed is typically not part of this type of cleaning job
