R.I.P Dustin, This is the video that got me into coin collecting. This video was the start of my knowledge and my passion for coins. The coin community lost one of its greatest teachers of coins.
That's so sad to hear. May his loved ones and community be comforted in the legacy he left behind. This is an excellent video for a newby like me. He has my sincere gratitude.
After watching your video, in a coin roll search, i found a 1975 Lincoln cent with the out-line border of the state of Mississippi with MS within the center.. thanks for your video!
I left a comment 3 yrs ago but was an apprentice yrs before, and I mean it when I say I learned so much from Dustin and I have the best collection of coins that would blow minds away. I almost didn't get coin grading and almost gave up, but this man explained perfect. Thank you for your blessings and knowledge. R.i.p Dustin.
Just found this video. Was extremely helpful! It was so helpful, in fact, that I couldn't believe it was an hour long. Best hour I've spent in a long time on UA-cam. Thanks so much.
As a graduate from the American Numismatic Association, this is a great video! Only issue with coins now a days, it's something people want. You have collectors that group up on sites, such as ebay and others. They low ball you and wait you out. Excellent if only collecting.
That was the best video on coin collecting that I have ever seen !!!!!!!!!! Thanks coin opps I've been finding your stuff more helpful than any other channels on u tube.
Thanks for mentioning the respect factor in the coin collecting community. Thats what makes it fun for me. It’s a fun hobby. Great content and vocabulary dissecting. I learned so much!
Wow I really felt like I just took an online course. Very well done and greatly appreciated, this was an 5 star rated video that kept my interest to the end and even bookmarked all the references given thank you very much.
Thanks so much...should be required viewing for all newbie collectors! You answered every single question and then some which took me over 6 months to learn (usually the hard way). Kudos!
I just wanted to express my thanks for all that you do on here, it's obvious this is something you are very passionate about and you go in depth and offer so much helpful information especially to people who don't know a lot such as myself. Again I thank you!
Extremely helpful to a relatively novice coin collector. Thank you very much for your thorough treatment of the subject. Along with all the info you've provided the recommendations of the various books and websites and companies allow me to move forward with more confidence.
Thank you for the very much for the knowledge I have gained from this. being a "newbie" I was getting frustrated to the point of not continuing my newest hobby. I am still finding more questions than ever before but now have the confidence that I can at least find a reasonable answer given the resources you named.
Just found your channel after watching countless hours of other coin videos. Wanted more info on starting an error coin collection. Didn't realize how long this video was until after I had watched it all, definitely worth the time. Thanks for putting this out there. New sub.
Mew sub here! Just found you and have already ordered a few items you mentioned here for the "beginner". Coin collecting is such a cool hobby that can also make you some money while having fun. Can't wait to binge on all your videos during this "virus" shutdown. Thank you!!!!!!
Wow, did I need this, I took a lot of notes on a newspaper that was just laying there. I didn’t think this was going to be that great, caught me by surprise. This newspaper is a mess, will have to copy my notes into a notebook
So glad I finally thought of you tube and found your video. I admit to only looking for an in depth 'how are coins made' video, but glad I wound up here. I learned a lot. Now to attempt to find that other video I'm looking for.
I know I am 5 years too late for this vlog because I just recently started to sort all of my coins collection of 20 years and this was the kind of educational information I was looking for. But if it's true that this gentleman vologger passed away than my condolences to his loved ones! I have to say he really cared about the coin collectors new and old equally. He really wanted to educate everyone the best way he knew how? Thank you and you will be dearly missed by the coin community. May you rest in peace ( aameen ).
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge your wisdom a true leader and the collectors of people one day we might meet you never know God bless you have a great day
Brand new to coins, collecting, hunting, searching and all around curiosity of all the different varieties! This was the most helpful piece of knowledge to get me started in this hobby! I felt like a kid listening to his favorite baseball player giving him tips and pointers! Amazing insight and seeming to be very good tips on making my new hobby that much more fun! Thank you Dustin and Ron for doing this! FANTASTIC!
Thank you! Great information! I am a first time collector and I had no idea of what to do. I inherited my Uncles coin collection. All coins found were wet from water. Trying to figure out how to clean them old pennies with green on them. A black 1940 nickle and silver that need to be a bit of cleaning from the water damage. I also have a penny with the date stamped on it and the rest is blank. You helped me tons! Thank you soooo much!
Thank you so much for your thoroughly guidance . I honestly appreciate you are sharing your your experience with all of us. I just been gathering coins for years and learning along. I wondered if there is a major in college about currency altogether. The history, variety, buying, selling, social platforms as you stated on a professional level. Knowledge is power. I've been very patience and focus and learn and research on my own so I can prepare myself to ask appropriate questions. I respect your integrity.
Thank you so much. You were very clear in the descriptions. Making it clearer and easier to understand coin errors and varieties. Wonderful presentation . I learned a lot.
I've been collecting for about a year now by coin roll hunting and buying from auctions. This is what I've learned about the FB sites (not all of them). Abbreviated cussing, such as "AF", can get you kicked. If the rules state no buying, selling, or trading and an Admin contacts you to sell an item you posted, say no thanks because it will likely result in a low ball offer or sell. I don't reccomend being a part of a group where the Admins don't follow their own rules. Always do your own research before buying or selling anything. This is a great video. Wish I would have found it a year ago.
Great job! This video should be required watching for everyone new to the hobby. So many of my questions were thoroughly answered here. For example own, now I know that many of the coins I saved are not as valuable as I thought.
Thank you. Love the videos. Very helpful for us newbies. I've been keeping a journal and writing notes, terms, definitions. Strike It Rich With Pocket Change is a book I can definitely afford. And the great thing about some of the sources you mention: they are free. As far as my niche, it will be a twist on an old favorite. I'm leaning toward collecting dirty coins: pennies and nickels. Happy coin searching everyone.
Awesome video. The most informative video I've ever seen. Its helped me tremendously . I haven't wanted to subscribe to a website but after watching this particular one, there's no question that I should to yours. Thank you so much. I can't begin to tell you how helpful this video has been compared to the thousands I've watched prior. Great job man. Keep up the good work...
Thank you for putting together such an amazing video. I knew a fair amount about collecting but there was a fair amount that I didn't know and you supplied me with a nice dose of knowledge that was needed. Thanks again
Thanks for the info. I am new to coin collecting and this was very informative and heartbreaking cause I thought I had some valuable coins but you set it straight. Thank you for keeping me from looking foolish when I go to sell my coins.
Thank you for the info I have a great collection I'm starting a business called penny-pinchers collectibles I worked at a very popular gas station I worked 8 months and a cherry picker I became so you could just imagine the kind of coinage I have special living the on East Coast on from Tennessee by the way if you're interested I would like to show you I do understand public statement so like I said Penny Pinchers collectibles

H i my name is Manuel, I just want to say that this was an excellent video you just put out. I've been on this search penny's for a little while also been asking questions about the penny's. But haven't got any information. But your video was super excellent I got more information that I needed and now I can continue searching. Your speech was so clear and understanding and explaining all the details. Just want to say that you are an excellent performer and again Tghank You very much for all the information. Manuel Rios
I've been watching your vidoes . it make me want to be a coin hunter and all the information I've gotten has been great . since I'm smart enough to try to educate my self before I try to coin roll hunt . thanks
I wanna say thank you so much for the time and effort you have put into making this video and gathering all of the educational information needed to create and complete this video. I have researched 100's of videos and references on the topic of coin collecting and trying to figure out it's value and selling it, so that I can continue to collect and sell more in the near future. I look forward to connecting with you on fb and see if you can try and help me figure out what type of handful of beautiful coins in which I've acquired. Thank you kind luck and I look forward to connecting with you on fb. Thanks again Jason Zinis
Exquisite presentation, sir. I have a question though. I'd like to see how a cent is actually struck. Are there any mint videos that show this. In particular, I'd like to see a "doubled die" coin, when it's made. Or even an animation to show as an example what happens in such a case. Thanks for all you videos.
Thank u for the information, havent been looking at coins for very long but have found lots of error coins, very interesting.need a project since retirement, this caught my interest.thank u so much for telling & showing ur information
Also I Love, LOVE, the website references for lists of different varieties. I have asked on a couple of different channels what websites I could go to print key date lists and I usually didn't get an answer, but when someone did reply (which is always appreciated) it was for the cherry pickers guide. I will get one when I have the the budget, but at the moment, I really, really need a list of dates, and no one had any answers/suggestions, so I really appreciate the info.
Sir thank you very much for your detail information step by step complete. From the bottom of heart god bless you and shower his mercy on you and your family amen👌❤️ This was one of the best videos about the coins I have ever seen. I am beginner or learner collecting coins as hobby or to make money out of it, ur video inspire me with lot of detail fact and best solution. U the man, with lot of knowledge and experience once again thank you so much. Zia

Thank you very much! Man, so much, took more notes than I've ever done on a video. When is the exam? Kidding. I am very very new to this coin hunting, thanks to you and others who have freely shared this info, I've come across different coins and I study each one, and have come across some good ones like a 1941 half dollar silver in good condition. You can see all the detail on this coin clearly, nice and sharp. So my next stop is your web site, again thank you so much for sharing!!!!

Thanks for the effort this video is comprehensive in that it is an introduction to the hobby. I certainly would have benefitted more had I known to view it. I'm learning and this I may go over several times before completing these notes. Thank you.

This is a Great video! I will be getting this info to others. Dustin, what is the reason for using Olive Oil, as opposed to using another oil? In the past few months, some info surfaced on Olive Oil from Italy being compromised by a mixture of other kinds of oils, including motor oil. There has been a few articles put out on this, by reputable Doctors and Nutritionists, laboratories etc. For soaking the coins, do you know if that would matter?
Hi! Thank you so much for this video. I'm new to coin collecting (with the exception of collecting some as a kid) and this was very helpful. I did have a question about cleaning coins. (Or not cleaning them). Someone gave me a box of coins that came from a mall water fountain in the early 2000s (primarily pennies). Most of them are corroded... Some to the point of not being able to see the dates. Some are in great condition with the exception of one a small spot on one side or the other (likely from being in the box with all the other corroded coins). Should I discard these? Clean the really bad ones? Not clean them at all? I realize you say not to in the video, but I wasn't sure if water-damage/rusting/blue-powdery junk was an exception. Any tips/advice/feedback is appreciated. Thanks so much!!!!
I would think that bc the coins are already damaged and therefore not worth much that it wouldn't matter. He did say soapy water with no scrubbing at all would be acceptable if the coins are damaged already
I have a 1967 lincoln penny, it has a lot of over lapping but no mint mark . Would it be a double die? You make it sound hard. If I join a group and my coin is counterfite' how will i know?
Thank u so much for your generosity about the knowledges of all this topic about coins...specially to all the beginners like me...I wish I memorize what all you said.. .ur my Man coins encyclopedia lol..God bless you ..I will follow your instructions..thank u so much for your efforts..takecare..and Be more safe..I'm looking forward to see u in person..thnx again for sharing all the information..God Bless you and your family as well..
Hey, thank you for all the great info. I recently joined your facebook group too. Great ppl there. Question: @45:50 what causes that gold looking halo around Lincoln and the edges? I have an old wheatie that looks just like that and I was wondering what was wrong with it... minus the year.
Extremely helpful thank you so much I've been collecting pocket change I find here or there nothing special just things I find I like but I've recently started taking an interest in serious coin collecting but was nervous about what to do it how to do it and this hits every last topic I was wondering or worried about
I've been out of the coin collecting hobby for many years and recently have been getting back into it. Very informative video, so many things I did not know about. So thank you for posting this. If I may elaborate on one thing you said that has helped me out in buying coins. It goes off of what you said about the PCGS Photograde website. Well they also have a PCGS Photograph app and a PCGS Price Guide that updates regularly. I have big apps and it helps a lot when I'm looking at coins on eBay. Because I can have the app open and eBay. Also I've used it a lot when I am coin roll hunting as well.
R.I.P Dustin, This is the video that got me into coin collecting. This video was the start of my knowledge and my passion for coins. The coin community lost one of its greatest teachers of coins.
Yes..... he made it fun and understandable, I never stopped collecting since... sad loss
That's so sad to hear. May his loved ones and community be comforted in the legacy he left behind. This is an excellent video for a newby like me. He has my sincere gratitude.

Glad it was helpful!
@@CoinOppLtd Indeed, shine on superstar!
Ray Charles. Ditto dude. Did you ever find one the isn't mint speed?
Excellent and very thorough. Very well put together. Thank you!
Wow you are one of a kind person not to many would tell you where else you could buy something you sell

I have a investment of a few thousand with zero return so far bc i havent been able to get a account up and running i just dont have the time. But now im getting to where i have so much invested im not collecting for long term keeps it was purley for a hobby bc i like looking thru bags of coins that ppl had saved for yrs and enjoy doing it when i have time.
Thanks for all the information I'm just getting into coins and finding it hard to get information/help from dealers
Thank you very much for this informative video. I'm just starting out collecting coins and I learned a lot. Thank you so much. Great video

Hey, thank you for all the great info. I recently joined your facebook group too. Great ppl there. Question: @45:50 what causes that gold looking halo around Lincoln and the edges? I have an old wheatie that looks just like that and I was wondering what was wrong with it... minus the year.
Extremely helpful thank you so much I've been collecting pocket change I find here or there nothing special just things I find I like but I've recently started taking an interest in serious coin collecting but was nervous about what to do it how to do it and this hits every last topic I was wondering or worried about
Thank you for watching. There is more educational video we upload
