Ken Sosa Yeh everything about them is cool..the way they catch food, how they drink and they change their shape aswel as their colour.. So cool😂
Riley Marsh YESS
That means that their scared and or worried..😑
That's exactly what I'm doing, sticking my hand in the enclosure and keeping it there without touching him. He's still a baby of 8 weeks old (named him Oscar), but the younger you can make them to trust you, the better. Next move will be to put a worm on the end of my fingers and try to lure him closer to my hand, by his own choice. Small steps at a time and lots of patience is the key here. ^^ Note that he isn't aggressive (his brother on the the other hand had a completely different character, oh boy, not a very happy boy), but it's better to avoid future problems, right? :)
+TheOpelkoenjas very true!
My 2 month old (as of today) female is doing well. I watched these videos and it really helped! I saw a bunch of things I was doing wrong and I feel quite bad but I'm trying to rebuild my trust with her. Today I was holding a cricket near her and she started making this squeaking noise (she makes this noise like a high pitched squeak and I finally realize that it's probably her juvenile way of hissing) but she was doing it about 10 times in and she even was moving around really fast. I backed down a step and now have been placing my hand in the cage for a minute and carefully putting my finger under her front until she climbs on. I'm only holding her for about two minutes at a time.
I'm not saying he did anything wrong, but in my opinion I never grab my chameleon. I put my hand flat and he will come to me so he never once has tried to bite me for the 6 months I've had him for.
Josh Ortiz Ya that totally works! I just am more direct haha
My baby veiled chameleon is named Richard and he is really sassy.
Enjoyed your 'How to tame your Chameleon' vid very much! Thanks for taking the time. For someone like me who CAN'T have a chameleon but adore them, it's a vicarious ownership thrill.
This video is was amazing to teach my daughter exactly what kind of a commitment this is for her, and for the WHOLE family. I LOVE you for these videos AND for the way in which you care for your crew. You're awesome!
Thanks! I appreciate the nice comments!
I have a 3 and a half year old panther chameleon and he will be nice one day but the next day he will hiss and puff out he has had a different personality each day
CrazyCribz that’s funny
CrazyCribz he is bipolar
hes pmsing
He's bipolar
dude your an awesome person so inspiring, you helped me so much in caring for my panther chameleon! much appreciated!
Mike, Thanks for posting this. I look forward to more cham. vids in the near future.
Crested gecko in a 36x36x64 glass tank
I'd really like to own a Chameleon. though, I have so many reptiles as is and Chameleons are a little more needy when it comes to their temp and environmental needs.
Still super beautiful to look at.
I just my chameleon yesterday and she’s so lovely and I don’t even need to tame her she accepts me to pet her and put her wherever I want I feed her mealworms she was super thin when I bought her but now there’s a big difference in her body
i want an update
Just make sure she is being taken care of properly because a lot of times if there is no resistance then something could be wrong.
i am so enchanted by these beautiful creatures, they are precious and complex for sure!
i just have a general interest in chameleons and your videos are very informative👍
Your video is awesome and I have shared it on a reddit sub about chameleons. People are constantly asking why they're animals are so mad, how to handle them, how to get them to calm down and you pretty much nailed it. I just got a new cham a little over a week ago, and he has been super skittish, it's true, you just need to go slow with them. A bit of a week later and I have a whole new cham now. I just took it slow with him, handled him a bit several times a day (he needed it), and we're pals now.
You sound like Jimmy from GTAV
ames the james 😂😂😂
when my chameleon is angry (he is not tame yet) he turns black
+Riley Marsh so does mine
Riley Marsh they change colors depending on their mood and when they are angry, they turn darker.
Best to just stop handling if they start getting dark. You're just undoing everything you're trying to do.
Let them get used to being near you. Slow man, if he gets stressed with the door being open just stand by the cage for a few minutes. Don't let them get to the poikt where they are black EVER. And if they are black even when you look at them they'll probably never tame down. Chameleons are for looking at and MAYBE once or twice a week come out. But you got a display animal if it is uncomfortable never force
Woah woah!! Only female chameleons turn completely black the males can only turn darker shades of green or whatever their colour is. Please make sure he is on hundred percent a male or you may have a problem. Females don't tend to do so well. Please be careful hope I helped
I love it how you give advice too people in the comments
I've been studying up a lot on chameleons lately, because I want to get a Falp necked chameleon and I really like your channel; I subbed.
I'm in my room 24/7 animating and my female Jackson Cham is right next to me but she still hates me. I've never grabbed her but she never walks on my hand. It's been 5 months...
Ya it can happen, chameleons are definietly a look don't touch animal. If you wanted something you can hold all the time I would not have choosen a cham
NAMLAZ Yeah. Thanks. She's warmed up to me a little bit. She hates other people but tolerates me lol. I still miss my male Jackson who died a few months ago... he was so sweet : (
NAMLAZ No, because he wanted to, but she kept rejecting him and shaking and hissing.
my situation is very similar with a veiled. I understood they are not to be held before i bought her but it makes me feel bad that she doesn't like me on a personal level. I have never grabbed her from above and she was okay with me when i first bought her. no hissing when getting her out of the pet store cage, no hissing or anything when i picked her up to put her in her new home for the first time. but as soon as she grew a little bit she hates me. :(
randomations Yt try hand feeding
i would get a chameleon. im actually getting one today and im so so so excited. hes a domestic veiled so hes been handled a lot but im just watching videos galore making sure he has a good home. this was super helpful, thank you!
how is your new chameleon
haileyolivia moore hes a dick but hes cute. hes getting used to me though. turns out that when we bought my cham he was supposed to be an adult but the guy said he already sold him so he sold us a mean baby one. :(
oh lord lol i had a veiled bt she passed away from mbd i have a 3 horned jacksons now make sure youre doing your calcium right so he dfoesnt get sick and just work with him hell come around is he wild? or is he captive never pick him up above his head hell take that as youre a predator grab under or let him crawl on your finger
haileyolivia moore haha ya i know. but hes captive.
i got mine from repticon and hes a wild -_- hes alot better than he was now but theyre so unique
Id get a savannah monitor and name him a basic name like steve and just be like HEY STEVE! just cause I could
Mike what are those green plastic things on the side of Rangos enclosure and where did you get them ?
I have all the reptiles I ever wanted after chameleon passes will be a sugar glider in my future lol
Nicole link Right on :)
I'm homeschooled so I have time to spare
I watched this video with my 4 year old beautiful daughter and it helped her learn all about chameleons. And now she loves chameleons because of this video. She is amazed by how they can change colors and how unique they are as animals.
+Zach McKeever That's awesome glad I could inspire younger generations to love reptiles as well. Help them see that they aren't gross and need to be killed, they are beautiful and deserve to be saved.
I love Rango! he's gotta be my favorite out of all your reptiles!!
He's certainly a special one :)
BACK FROM THE DEAD!
Yes, be patient, I've had a 3 month Cham for about a month and he's finally walking out on my hand after daily interactions. If your Cham wants left alone and you don't have to move them, leave them alone! Appreciate their beauty and build that trust! AW
Definitely just leave it up to your chameleon
I would have a room for just 3 green tree moniters
My dream reptiles would either be a pied mexican spiny tail iguana, kordensis green tree monitor, or an ambanja panther chameleon
if i could have any reptile i wanted, it would have to be a tie between a gharial, a rhinoceros viper, and a feathered tree viper
It's awkward because my name is Kai
Butterfly knife tricks same
Pleb same
not my real name but I go by Kai too x,D its my hawaiian name... oddly enough Im looking at jacksons chameleons cause theyre the only damn reptile thats legal here -__-
I have a month old veiled chameleon. I want to hold it but it always turns black and hisses and runs when I move my hand by it. How can I get it to like me??
+Mike Tytula
Have patience.
Don't move fast and don't grab it make it come to you by using food. Personally I'd say mike was moving kinda fast with his veiled chameleon that scares them remember the cage is there personal space. You don't want to intrude on his personal space
I'm very glad someone else believes reptiles are smart! My veiled Cham also named rango. He will dance at the glass after his morning bask to let me know he wants out. Mine has moods if he doesn't want to come out and he's basking he will hiss, unny but once he's out he is cuddly... also so people know if you can place your Chams home on a table or shelf high as possible, as they love to have the highest vantage point to feel secure.
Ya! I'm not a huge fan of handling chameleons anymore, but I do know there are the odd few out there that seem to be fairly social.
This video motivated me indefinitely just got my chameleon and she’s the same exact way, I hope to get lulu the same as Rango one day, you earned my subscription 👍🏼
Honestly my stance on handling chameleons has changed drastically. Make sure at very least you give plenty of time for it to settle before you even try handling.
I have a couple of questions...
1. What kind of chameleon is that?
2. I don't want to buy a new tank every month so if i get a big tank can he stay in there his whole life and if so what size tank and what brand would you recommend?
Thanks and you have an awesome setup!!
+Its Sparrkyy For a veiled chameleon male 2x2x4 foot tank
I would love to have a whole reptile collection, a herp zoo; leopard tortoise, rhino iguana, ball python, water dragon, chameleon, and my dream is to be licensed to have a fly river turtle in a big custom pond. But that's just the dream of an amature zoologist wanabee. ^-^
That is definitely quite the list!
where did u get your Jackson's chameleon... I currently have a veiled chameleon because I couldn't find a near by place to get one
I have a question I'm planning a veiled chameleon but I have a longer cage than height it's about a foot long and 20 inches in height is it ok for it?
Mike would you consider these a beginner reptile to a person with a lot of experians with other animals
+loSt gamer Not at all
+Mike Tytula thank you for the feedback because I'm thinking of getting a lizard and I just wanted to ask you so I don't get one and not know how to care for it the right way and have it die
+Mike Tytula would you recommend a leopared gecko
loSt gamer Ya that works!
+Mike Tytula ok thanks bro your the best
Croc monitor!
i busted out laughing when he said "your a big foroscious baby"
I recently got two chameleons for Christmas. I've never had chameleons before. Thank you so much for the advice!
By the way, I named them Pond and Bill
+SugarPeaPrince No worries good luck!
i would get a komodo dragon and hope it didn't kill me
LOL
Lakes Reptiles haha well good luck :)
+Lakes Reptiles too bad they poisonous
Luke P. Bye bye
I'd get a chameleon. I love them and I've been watching all of your chameleon videos 💗
+Sarinna Neumann Thanks :)
+Mike Tytula Awsome vids
+Mike Tytula I'm really fascinated about Chameleons and was wondering if you could tell me a good cage/vivarium setup and what type of Chameleon would be best for a beginner
BRAD94ERZ Check out my care videos for veileds
Yeah great advice! My gecko comes out of his hide whenever I have my food bag.
Lincoln There you go :)
@Mike Tytule Hi :) I'm going to get a Chameleon as a baby, are they going to be more tame than an a mature Chameleon?
I really want a banana boa or a a beardie :)
Black pearl leopard gecko or a black throat monitor
Or an albino Burmese phyton
The Python would be cool
Leopard gecko all the way.
I'm getting a chameleon in the next 2-3 days from the pet store. On the cage it says to avoid holding. This will be my first chameleon. How do I change that?
Just wanted to let you know your one of my favorite youtubers
Thanks buddy! I appreciate it!
cute reptiles...
Chameleon ♡.♡
hi Mike, I wanted to ask what type of light bulb and how many watts do u use for rango cuz Im having trouble w some of my plants but my chameleon is fine but I do need to help my plants for him. I hope u can help me, thx u.
One day, maybe, I'll get myself a baby lace monitor. One of the more (IMO) intelligent reptiles.
if I could get any animal. money and space wasn't a issue I would get both a Colombian Tegu. and a Cuban Rock iguana. but I'm huge on many animals and if money and space weren't a issue I would have a mini petting Zoo. I would give them all my time as well. ha
if i could get any reptile honestly just a simple green iguana...i love them
GamerF00L o can assure you iguanas aren’t simple lol
I ABSULUTLY ADORE CHAMELEONS I HAVE A CHAMELEON NAMED GASPER HE IS A VEILD AND IVE HAD HIM FOR almost 4 and a half months and he is almost 8 and a half months old. and i go in there every day to do his water and feed him but even just when i open the cage he puffs up and hisses and normally squirt him 2 times with water.. is this bad? should i stop? any tips of how to let them be loyal to you... i saw a video of a chameleon wanting to clime on his owner but my little guy doesn't really do that and i don't know what to do to get him to do this.... any tips?
I got a chameleon named primsey but do they have to be in separate cages or can two fit in one?🐉🐉
i've got a bearded dragon
Payton Alexandra me to
Payton Alexandra I want one :(
Elijah Estrada sorry, it all costed about 300$ for starters
+Payton Alexandra my chameleon setup was about 800
woah, my bearded dragon setup was under $100... oc i got my tank for free from an amazing teacher i had but still
i have a chameleon
I’m going to get one
Thanks so much for this video Mike. It was so very helpful for an animal communication client I have.
I probably wouldn't use this video for holding chameleons anymore
Can you feed them dead crickets dusted with calcium, or do they have to be alive
I just got a veiled about a month ago. I’ve been home a lot of the time and have been treating him like a baby. I have yet to take him out of his cage because he will usually hiss if my hand gets close to him(even slowly from underneath). I feed him with bowl and finally got to hand feed with wax worms. I am very cautious not to traumatize him but want to at least have my first experience holding him. You think I Shud just go for it gently? Or shud I just continue to hand feed for a while? And if so how long
My opinions on handling chameleons has changed since this. You can obviously slowly tame them, but I wouldn't even recommend doing it very often.
I'm going to sound very dumb for asking this but is tango a veiled cham
i just got my chameleon today. is there any good tips on how to get him to trust me? he’s just a little dark, when i’m not staring at him. i’ve put my hand in front of him, and he almost got on it but then left. i’ve tried to get tweezers and feed him crickets, but he won’t take it. not sure if he’s been eating the crickets hopping around the cage.
I wouldn't begin even trying to handle him at all for the first week or two. Let him settle in and get familiar with his surrounding.
Kind of a leap (ha, no pun intended) does this apply to small dart frogs too or are they all about visuals and feeding time?
You should never hold dart frogs, or ideally any frog for that matter
Good video dude it helped us.
My lil guy Spinoza took an entire two years of hand feeding him for him for him to start coming to me at the front of the cage. Now I finally consider him "nice". He still hates when you wear hats.
This video helped me a lot with my very sassy girl chameleon. Thank you a lot!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Mike Tytula where do you purchase your enclosure trees and branches? I'm looking for a good 20 to 24 in tree with plenty of branches. Any suggestions for me?
I normally buy the live plants from garden centres and such!
what if you get the chameleon from their very babyhood? are they easier to tame that way?
Does your chameleon eventually crawl onto your hand and come out of his cage in time? or do you have to physically try and take him out? Cause im trying to figure out how to get my chameleon out of his cage for the first time and I dont really know how to do it without causing him to get angry or scared. The place where I got him from said that he used to come out and crawl onto their shoulders while they cleaned his cage, so im thinking he should be able to soon?
+Ukuleleboy not likely, honestly most of the time they should be left alone, except when bringing to somewhere like a vet or something. I try and limit handling because it does stress them a certain amount.
Alright, thank you!
My dream reptile would definitely have to be a Blue tree monitor
The beginning “heybffs abagbnsbdb I’ll be showing you how to tame ur chameleon.”
haha basically it
Quick question what plant do you have in there ?!?
Hi Mike, this is a really cool video! How much do you spend a month on just one of your chameleons, such as food and supplements?
+Sirah Ouellette Probably something like 30-40?
+Mike Tytula Basically just the price of crickets
Does it make your room super humid having the cages in your room? Or does it not effect it at all? Thanks
It makes it warm, not really humid. Like my room is about 80ºF during the summer time.
what kind of plants do you have in there ? im getting a chameleon i just bought evrything but i need some plants
stevepwn that comment was three months ago so you probably already have plants, but if you don't I'd recommend pothos, ficus or umbrella plants
I wonder if my veiled chameleon will ever get that big?
Was he a baby when you tried to get him out at the pet store?
Thanks I'll try to lower the temperature a little because he sometimes pants like a dog but I wasn't sure if he was sick or something thanks for your help!
You helped me so much thanks!
hi mike my veiled chameleons mated for the first time this afternoon......how many times should i put then together ?? Like should i put them together again in a couple of days?
If it was a successful pairing you can do it only do it the once. If you aren't sure you might want to reintroduce one more time in a couple days.
You have a nice bond with your Pokémon
lol
First like great video and i think i would get a chameleon because they are just awesome but i have a crested gecko and hes awesome too :)
MrPlize Right on! Chameleons are great!
All I can say is thank you mike my chameleon did not like me! But I watched this video and did everything you say and now my chameleon loves me!!! You are the best and I took insparstion from your chameleon kai cause that's what I named my chameleon!!!
If my chameleon is angry like puffing out their neck and opening their mouth should I keep trying to pick them up?
I honestly would leave him alone if that is the case.
I like how u handled your chameleon
I have a veiled chameleon it's an adolescent. At first he loved to be held and would reach for me when I came to his cage. I just upgraded his enclosure and he's taken a disliking to me now. No color change he just opens his mouth. Is that pretty normal when changing a habitat?
+MUALeiahRene Ya especially if you just moved him and are trying to get him out
do you do the same with the little baby ones to get them to trust you?
these videos make me want to expand my reptile room!
haha what do you have now?
Mike Tytula a few bearded dragons.. but watching these video got me wanting to expand my knowledge on these beautiful creatures
Also you need to ensure they have a large enough enclosure to relax. I have a Furcifer Pardalis. I think chameleons are in a different league to other reptiles and I have kept quite a few over the years.
Very informative! If money were no object, I would certainly want a colony of geoemyda spengleri with a elaborate vivarium for them!
Solid choice!
I have a chameleon i didnt tame him he likes to be on my hands... But when i look at him he becomes agresive and starts changing colour qickly what should i do
I’ve had my veiled chameleon for 2 years now. He used to hiss and charge at me but now he lets me around his cage and doesn’t mind when I’m in the room but he still gets PISSED if I even try to touch him. He lets me hand feed and everything though. Hopefully he’ll come around. Any advice ?
Honeslty since this video I wouldn't really recommend handling chameleons, they truly are a more hands off type pet, like it's great if they are naturally tame and don't mind be held but still.
I would want a hela monster but I am only aloud to have my gargoyle gecko and your videos helped because he use to be scared
If I had big enough space I would definitely get Asian water monitor
The dream haha
@@MikeTytula right gotta have big dreams bc we work hard for them to turn them into reality
thanks so much this is good advice cause i’m actually getting a chameleon,i have always been fascinated by these beautiful creatures and i have 4 animals now (including the chameleon is 5)this is really helpful so thank you!
Make sure you do a ton of research! before you pick one up :)
