Besides not having time, I really cannot understand why people don't spend more time watching this kind of content to teach themselves how to set up a guitar how YOU like it. It takes little effort to do some research and save yourself tons of money on getting setups done on your guitars. And people will have the argument saying they don't have the confidence to do it, but confidence comes with time. Great videos as always, Rob!

Thanks for information Rob. Here's a another tip for you & everyone Rob. Buy a high dollar box of thick kleenex. Put two kleenex between the tremolo springs & the back plate with screws. Gets rid of vibration noise from those float springs. Makes guitar sound & feel better. If you get the kleenex that feel oily. It keeps your floyd rose parts from corroding or rusting because one never removes cover to clean or lubricate those parts. Vibration & Distortion Daddy over & out.

😂 I’m sorry! That’s totally me with the block method. Personally, I think either one is good, whatever a person is used to. But you’re right, the most important thing is to actually understand how the Floyd works so that no matter how you do it, you can account for anything that might go wrong. I need to make a video on it to properly explain it, but essentially the way it works is that if you have it blocked in a flush manner, and then you properly stretch and tune, when pulling the block out, everything will fall out and the bridge will pull up. But you use the claw screws to bring the guitar back into tune. Once the guitar is properly in tune, the bridge should be in the exact place you had it blocked in.
Anyway, thanks for turning me onto Aurora DSP, I just bought the mammoth bass plugin as well. I really dig their stuff. I wish they made some mastering EQs and compressors. Hopefully they will one day!

It's nice to see the actual string changing isn't so bad. I've always heard the joke "you need a degree in engineering to work on a guitar with a Floyd." It seems to be more you set it up once in the tuning/string gauge you want and then it's just the normal string changing process.

I bought my Jackson MIJ dxmg back in 2010. Didnt have much issues with the licensed jackson floyd, now it doesmt stay in tune. Is it time for me to change to a better floyd, or must I be doing something wrong?

@@cacaloca5434 I'd personally recommend you try 10-48 for D standard.

is there a reason to ever adjust the floyd rose height at the bridge? I just got a new 7 string and I am getting really bad string buzz around the 5th to 10th fret on the 7th string so I am wondering if the issue is at the bridge.

Yes! But I recommend watching this video first, and applying all you can from it. ua-cam.com/video/ktiF2rysCW0/v-deo.html
If then you're still not satisfied with your action, then you can begin to make minor adjustments to your bridge height. At least that's the way I think about it.

I'm a fixed bridger for decades. I tried tremolo for awhile, but then my metal tastes, tuning, and string gauges got heavier and heavier, and adding springs to the trem just wasn't working out, so I switched up. I play 8 string now anyway.

Skipped straight to the intonation part. I had no idea there were 2 holes for the saddle, i have a guitar i can now intonate properly lol

For the action adjustement it's better with your fingers on first fret and 18 fret and you check on 9 fret if the string are too close of the fret. Not just with the eye.

If you're new to floating tremolos, I promise this is not the method for you. No disrespect, but by chasing the tuning back and forth without blocking the bridge, you're more likely than not going to end up very frustrated. Again, no disrespect and it works for Rob, but there are other methods.

Pretty interesting to see other People changing strings on Floyds… well done Rob. Happy New year btw 😎🤘🏽
For me.. the blocking method and tuning w the claw afterwards to perfect level float works perfect plus…
it is indeed wayyy faster than any other way. (I play Floyds for 26 years already)
Why is not everyone doing it? Cuz most guitarist are not well informed enuf 😄 thanks to YT, TikTok etc.. that changes fortunately.
I used to hate my trems…
but those were cheap licensed ones. Since i replaced all of em w proper quality from Schaller / OFR,it is a pleasure to play and change strings / tunings.

Hey thanks and likewise man! And thanks for the constructive comment. Too many guys on here are just haters, rather than offering any helpful opinion with any real substance.
