WHAT ARE ESP & LTD DOING IN 2024??
Dang it lol. In the time it took to edit this video Jackson dropped a new modern American Series guitar, too. Is this a new era of Jackson dominance?

Great idea!
I would love the soloist walnut or fuscia with a hipshot hardtail and reverse headstock with locking tuners
What is playing in the background around 11:30 minutes to 12:30 minutes? Sounds awesome,Hunter!!!👍
How can Jackson put out a product with Dave's name on it when his deal is with Gibson?
...was about to grab a $200 Dinky just for the fun of it, but then saw where it's made. I prefer Indonesia over China. Both from experience with the quality of each country, and also because of the geo-political and domestic BS that China is pulling...
Jackson need to remake the 90s Megadeth run of guitars, id kill for a 90s Mustaine King V or a Marty Friedman Kelly. Both models get slept on, especially the Kelly
Yes mate!!
100% on the Kelly
I like how it's an explorer but just... Cooler? Idk I love 'em
It sucks that Mustaine’s with Gibson so he can’t have a signature with a fender owned company unless he leaves Gibson.
I have one KV1 Mustaine. Damn good. The only thing I didn't like was the pick ups, very low output. I had to replace them for EMG.
I've wanted a Mustaine King V with a Floyd for 30 years! They need to make them three Knobs. Two knobs sucks.
I think they killed it with the Virtuoso... They're doing great things right now...
I have 4 jacksons and will always be my favorite brand
Just to be clear, the Soloist body is also smaller like the Dinky. People like to argue about it, but it is a fact that can be easily confirmed by holding a soloist up next to a strat (or a soloist up with a dinky). Another proof of this is the fact that Jackson molded cases are Dinky/Soloist cases. Both fit into the same case snugly. They are interchangeable between the two models because the only thing that really differentiates them is neck through vs bolt on (soloist necks on average tend to be thicker and can be a couple mm wider in string spacing as well depending).
I can confirm your point, i've had both model, and i've put them on top of each other and they are identical . The reel difference is neck type( bolt on- neck thru)
Bonus points for pronouncing Laiho properly. Cheers!
I always feel gaslit when I hear it said "lay ho" opposed to "Lie ho",
Thank God as a Jackson player this is what I needed!
The king Kelly looks like I’d hurt myself 😂
Land before time.....Deep cut, brotha.👍
things are looking great for jackson
Go Jackson!!!!!!!
Rhoads baby! All the way 🤘🤘🤘
Just diagnosed with cancer. Your guitar reviews are absolutely helping me to keep my mind off this disease. Don't give up anytime soon! 🙏🙏🙏
Ill have you in my prayers… God Bless you.
As an almost "vintage guy" reaching 40, I love Jackson Guitars !! The new line-up is very cool !!
... but I love my old 96' Japan Kelly in Blue Metallic Sparkle with the reverse Headstock, and my old 97' Rhoads Performer !!
I agree. Selling "usa" guitars for 2k that feel like 500 to 800 dollar imports
Sounds like Gibson lol
@@TylerJohnstonGuitarat least their QC says so, lol.
What do you think of the Vola guitars ?
@@vpovince1001 they look very intriguing
I just wish they had more high end specs without Floyds
Yep, it's all about floyd rose... There are guys who prefer hardtails for real.
Love the Jackson models, good coverage thanks dude
Jackson did a pro series soloist in fuschia Burst with a hardtail hipshot bridge, i bought one from someone selling it with a hard case for like $700 and man is it absolutely beautiful, so that pro plus model is gonna look absolutely fire
So glad to see top-mounted floyds!! They are so much better than recessed. As for the 1000 series mine stays in tune better than my OFR. Stainless frets omg FINALLY. Absolutely insane new offerings from jackson i love it!! A 7 string JS series V is gonna be awesome.. woulda picked one up If i didnt have my schecter already
Haha, dude. I was literally pausing and looking at pictures of the Dinkys vs Soloists, figuring out what the differences in the models were, right before you explained it for the uninitiated (me, lol). Too funny!
I LOVE Jackson. I have two but as a leftie, I’m sure you can guess what two I have. Would it kill them to give us at least one new guitar? Beefing everything up, only to keep the same four guitars for lefties. At least give us a new color Jackson. Before anyone says theres no market, that’s BS. Solar can’t keep leftie models in stock. A well run leftie seller would dominate the market.
Lemme guess: the JS32 DKY and the Rhodes V?
I’ve given up on buying them. I’m in the process of building my own guitars. With 15 years of woodworking experience, I should be fine.
@@southernpanda33 yep. I love them, they’re great guitars. I love the necks, the light weight bodies, the fast fret boards. They’re amazing from my type of playing (shred) but I just want some variety. My local guitar center, has a new quilted purple Dinky and it’s breaks my heart that I can’t get one.
I feel that. I bought a Michael Kelly Les Paul style guitar for the quilted maple top because I can only get boring tops with Gibson thanks to being left handed. That and all the Jacksons that are so nice but I have to re-wire my brain to play them. Seems reasonable.
@@southernpanda33 some times I kick my myself for not sticking to learning right handed but my parents got my a leftie acoustic after my second lesson and that was a wrap. It’s a harsh world out there for us lefties but we’ve learned to adapt. Hopefully guitar companies see the light one day and see that if they offered more they would sell. They’d probably make even more money from the left handed community.
Hey man, I really enjoyed the video and your feedback + thorough walk thru of the new models! Thank you for taking the time for the rest of us!
I just got my first Jackson guitar today. It's a JS32T King V in ferrari red. I'm really impressed with the quality of a budget guitar like that 🤘
HELLA YEAH 🎉 13:06
I will say, I was never too into Vs in general, but I tried a cheap Rhoads a couple of weeks ago in a store and, while the guitar itself was decent for the price, the main takeaway for me was that: the Rhoads is actually quite comfortable to play sitting down! I would love to see a demo on the channel one day!
Sweeeeet guitarz man
I picked up a dinky 7 string for 199 Usd. It plays fantastic - so much better than I expected from a $200 guitar. I'll likely throw some locking gotoh tuners on it and bigger strings moving forward.
I actually ended up picking up the pro plus evertune 7 and it's currently my favourite guitar.
7 string budget rhoads and king v's is the absolute best thing released this year, by anyone. I had fully intended on buying one of the 2 but plans changed. Managed to acquire another of my favorite 7 string single cut guitars and both are white and not ESP/LTD. Epiphone Origins MKH LPC 7 string is THE best guitar I have ever played and I own 2 now? What? Amazing.
Playing Jackson for over 20 years now. Theyre just perfect imo. Most recent purchase was a usa Jeff Loomis kelly and jeff looming pro series sl7. Beautifully guitars.
Definitely gonna have to get one of those one shots when I start doing UA-cam
Hey Hunter these deep dive guitar lineup videos are excellent. This is how I stay up to date on whatever the hell is going on in guitar land.
I purchased one of the bright orange SL4X guitars because they remind me of my old Charvel. Upgraded the pickups and the thing plays. I don't play my Super Strat much but when I do...
Subbed, great work brother
Regarding your claims pertaining to pricing. I absolutely agree. Some of Jackson's specs are strange, and their downgrading certain parts to those of lower quality, whilst not lowering the price to reflect that, is definitely dirty.
Secondly, seeing an Epiphone Firebird for $1800, is absolute highway robbery. When I was a kid in the mid to late 2000s, an Epiphone was at BEST, $500. That was for a good Les Paul Standard. To think that Epiphones have tripled in price since then is absolutely insane. They're not worth that much, their atrocious build quality, and lack of innovation is evident that they're far too greedy.
drink everytime he says stainless steel frets
And, 'Super'.....
Sounds fun
Love Jackson. Warrior and Kelly are awesome guitars.
I love the kelly shapes
awesome video.... it's so hard nowadays to pick a new guitar... so many brands seem to be releasing killer models, but at stupid prices. kind of hard to decide which model to choose
not a Jackson player myself but my cousin got their base model dinky 7 string that's like $200 just to try it and i was thoroughly impressed! been recommending Jackson now based on how good their entry model was 😅 keep it up!!!
My man just casually forgot that the other guitarist of trivium is a Jackson artist (Corey Bealieu)
I put stainless steel frets on my Les Paul Classic. I absolutely love them.
i been waiting for so long to get my hands on a affordable 7 string rhoads. The moment they showed the JS22. i had to get it which is now on my lap. The grounding issue to the bridge was annoying but i fixed it.
I just picked up the JS 7 string Rhoads. I decided if it sucked I can change what suck. I’m extremely impressed on my first impressions. I’ve had it for 3 days now, so keep everything with a grain of salt. Mostly I’ve been impressed with the neck and fret work. So far no issues have crept up. Biggest surprise to me are the pickups and tuners. For them being cheap parts, the pickups sound massive, and the tuners don’t feel absolutely worthless. And the nut is cut properly so it’s been holding tuning no issues. It did not come with an appropriate string gauge but that’s the easier fix in the world. I kind of hate the headstock but seeing it in person it doesn’t look nearly as bad. I’ve grown to like how ugly it is. Can’t speak for the King, but so far, the Rhoads is killing it for me.
I got the rhoads too but for me the low B and E are super loose and rattle like crazy. I tried messing with the saddle and truss rod but still rattling
@@akatsiyasounds to me like an issue at the nut. If you can, try to file down the B and the E string a bit. There’s videos online and it’s not hard to do. Just go slowc and take your time. If it’s not that, maybe it’s the tuners. Hopefully you can figure it out soon!
Yep yep...that was a specific reference.
I picked up the Kisser Signature Pro Soloist last year. It plays and feels very good.
The new Rhoads with stainless frets are so sick! I would have loved to see King V versions, which is a shape I actually prefer. It balances better with a strap.
that "definitely not laiho" concept is my dream guitar.
I literally only rock jackson’s and don’t want/care for many other guitars (bar D Angelicos)
You must not be aware that Grover Jackson was building Charvel guitars. I have 2 Jackson guitars, one is a JS32 DKA in natural oil, the other is a JS32 Rhoads in natural oil... Great paying guitars (man! the frets are HUGE! LOL), great pickups, love them both, however, the Rhoads is more of a wall-hangar than the other one. Good stuff man, great video.
big frets big checks baby
Nothing to see here, off to the ESP store!
i prefer jackson, however i have one esp. esp is the other worthy brand.
All I want is a black rhoads but with the pink stripes and inlays like Alexis ESP, I just prefer the feel of Jackson to esp
is the pickup selector not in the way compared to how it is positioned with strats?
What about the latest American Series Soloists with EMG’s?! So stoked about the Hipshot hardtail ones.
Jackson is my love. My first guitar was a PS4.
As a kid I had a 1984 Roads neckthru, sadly I had a nonplayer play it so I could drum and the strap popped off the front button and it swong down and snapped off the head.... thing played its self, it always twists my gut to think I traded it to get a replacement.... had I known the that it was fixable it was worlds better than the bolt on kingV I downgraded to. I never quit dreaming about having a top tier Jackson either.
Lol.. I think the new Jackson DK1 Skull Kaos only exists in my head. So far, no one has mentioned it on you tube and even the last time I looked at the Jackson website, it wasn't on there.
Picking up that $250 Jackson 7 string. We’ll see how it plays.
Man I just got a js32q and love it so far
Jackson has gone insane, but so have I with this WAITING for your HB baritone sig to drop on the store.
It was supposed to be released before Christmas, did you mean Christmas 2024? 😂😂😂
Im dog shit at guitar but i got the JS22-7 KV HT, shit rips i fucking love it.
I have the jackson js22-7 rhoads, it is pretty good
Can we have a regular pro series Kelly with fixed bridge? That would be a perfect guitar to play Marty Friedman Era Megadeth music.
Yeah all the proline Kelly's are signatures. Just give us a decent Pro Kelly with HT
I love jackson guitars. Always have, but oh how I wish they'd diversify a little and add some new models, like a SG/LP style, or ibanez AZ or harley benton fusion style.
What are your thoughts on the use of poplar in the X Series?
I’ve wanted a Monarkh Pro for years. Now I’m able to buy one and the only Pro available is the purple glass Friedman sig. Hopefully some new Pro models come out soon.
I like the Jackson wasn’t using stainless steel frets I personally like the feel of nickel frets. It’s not gonna turn me off to play Jackson guitars, but it’s one of those things that I’m gonna have to consider when buying them moving forward is it worth it to buy and refret a new guitar?
I love Jacksons and adding stainless steel frets and all with their Pro Plus line is great, but asking 1.5K for a made in China guitar insane. I know you can build awesome guitars everywhere, but QC in China has never treated me very well.
I think the fact that Tim Hillier-Brook (formally of Architects) has been a Jackson rep for the last 2 or so years has helped. A lot of the new artist signings are people he seems to have worked with in the past a lot. Certain the Lee Malia connection is strong with Tim as he has filled in on 2nd guitar for BMTH several times since leaving Architects.
Floyd original have not been made in Germany for a few years now. They don't say where they are made on the package now so it is not usa or Germany. I have assumed everything was made in Korea now, but have no confirmation.
As far as I know, the original is made by schaller in germany.
@@Rubenios in 2020 they changed manufacturers. There is a post about it on their website. The parts/packaging no longer say mad in Germany or where they are from.
I had asked when the r10 was going to be back in stock and they confirmed they are working with a new manufacturer with all new tooling. They have better nut block fitment now, the base plates are now bent like the 1k/vintage (they were cast and machined for th Schaller,) and the cnc saddles are really nice.
I love the Rhoads shape and I love blingy obnoxious guitars that get noticed onstage so uhhhh yeah im gonna need that mirror finish V
Soloist is set neck and Dinky is bolt on. The body size is the same
no it is not it is 7/8 size
Yep. Both 7/8 size of a strat. Can easily be confirmed if you hold them up next to each other or a soloist next to a strat. The Jackson molded hard shell is also for the Dinky/Strat and both fit snuggly in it because they are the same size.
Jackson fanboy here. I like that they’re catching up with the market (spoiler alert: your average player DOESN’T need SS frets or luminlays but that’s what they want, so they need to deliver), but it took a frustratingly long time. I know the average modern player is into the offsets and super-strats, so I know that’s why the Dinky and Soloist gets the most love, but for me I believe in V supremacy and I want to see these updated specs brought to the pointy models. I also have a dealer exclusive Concept Series RR (before the Concept series was official launched) and it has the OFR on it. I was happy to see that stay on the official launch, but now I’ve become disappointed to see it removed from current Concept models. It’s still a very grey area for me (I lean happy, but still bummed at lack of love for the pointy’s). I’m waiting to see what else comes out, but no I don’t want the Mike Stringer model.
All i ever asked from jackson was an archtop reverse headstock like the Christian olde wolbers
Hey what about Gojira Jackson signature models? The natural wood finished Rhoad's looks insane.
Come on just look at the pro plus mdk ms ht6 🤩❤😍
I really wanna try that 7 string king V or RR
Wow! Some Killer looking 7 strin shredders for under 300 dollars? I might pick one up!
I ordered a MJ Series Rhoads RR24MG. Store told me that Fender told them it would be at least 6 months wait.
Man I love that indigo color so much it hurts!!!!!!! I wish I could get a Rhoades in that color. Hell, I’d do anything for a Les Paul custom in that color!!!!!!
damn waited the entire video for you to mention brandon ellis lol i have his sig kelly and i love it quality is awesome definitely has room for upgrades though!
The one thing Jackson still havent done, that i really hope they do soon, is an Evertune Kelly, that would be so sick. Tempted to buy the hardtail Jeff loomis kelly just to put an evertune on it
I picked up tge JS22 7 string dinky archtop. For a $200 guitar, i was blown away. The stock Jackson pickups aren't the best, but it plays luke a dream
An interesting deep dive might be charvels desolation series. They diverted from the super strat thing they were known for and made Gibson style dual humbucker tune omatic set necks. Seems right up your alley spec wise.
Really wish they'd do spoke wheel truss rods on the Rhoads.
Still waiting for a 1 pickup 1 volume Jackson Kelly, Warrior and King V, can be pro or js series as long as the cost is decent.
Guys buy the Marty Friedman MF1, that guitar is insane , the pickups are amazing and the price is perfect
I’d take that camo guitar if I got a good deal on it. Just to annoy my friends mainly. 😂. I don’t have a Jackson also and I wouldn’t mind getting one!
The cuts/cutaways that you see on the King Kelly are something that one of the Jackson CS builders by the name of Pablo Santana came up with. Whilst beveling has its use, when it comes to the cuts / cutaways, they are very much an acquired taste and I'm not really part of that fan club.
i think you missed the new american series that came out recently
I am ABSOLUTELY waiting for a Mike Stringer sig
JS series Jackson is by far the best budget guitars out there. Jackson da GOAT
Used to be a big Ibanez guy but Jackson charvel just Sticks to the basics but still being modern !
Even Gojira fans tend to forget about him but Christian Andreu is also a great Jackson artist! Yeah Gojira is basically "The Duplantier Brothers and co." but Andreu is solid as hell
Any left handers?
FYI - the Dinky and Soloist bodies are the same size. :)
Ever since they switched to the truss rod wheel, the logos look weird. Not a fan of that, but better usability is a good thing.
Came looking for this comment, Dinky and Soloist have the same body shape and size. Difference is just bolt on vs neck-thru
I also came to make this statement.
Yup, I was expecting someone to have already commented this
No they are not they are 7/8 size
@@sethhereford7332dinky is 7/8 size thats why its called a dinky
I swapped out a Floyd original for a Floyd 1000 on my ESP just to see if there really was a difference and it’s been a year, nothing really changed 🤷♀️
The Lee Malia git looks sweet
Credit to Jackson the SL27 EX looks like Sean from Sleeps went to Charvel and said hey can I have my sig with a floyd for the studio? And Jackson said “Hold my Beer”
Dang, I should have waited to get the unofficial Alexi...granted the purple ripped model is nothing to be disappointed with
Definitely waiting for the baritone surfcasters, lol
It's weird, I know Agu has never really been into Ibanez, but I was always basically only into Ibanez, idk why. I've always known Jackson and Schecter to be good, but just never vibed with them. But over the last couple years with sig guitars like Aaron Marshall/John Browne, and Mike Stringer/Josh Smith. And I look at Ibanez guitars, and of course they're nice, but it's got me thinking. "Why did I think these guitars were so amazing?" I'm strictly speaking Aesthetic wise. Quality wise they are of course amazing.
But yeah, cant wait to see the stuff that comes out!
