Just a tip for anyone doing Cape peron, you definitely dont need a 76 or any high end 4wd. Me and my family did it in 2 stock pajeros and me in my 2003 rodeo. As long as you keep your tyre pressures low and your momentum up you'll make it
I'm finding lately that simplicity is a blessing. I bought a rooftop tent that sets up and down in 30 seconds, have a dual battery for lights and fridge in the back of the wagon wired to the tent, and 270degs of awning. I can be up and out in about 10 mins with no exhausting pack up.
I watch a lot of 4 wheel driving videos, and you stand out as being the most honest most practical and the most information, you should be proud of presenting to the public. well done Ronny Dahl
Good to see a simplier, minimilist kit, I think often folk, with all the high-tech gear & gluttonous creature comforts, end up insulating out the very experience they go camping/4wd for; to experience nature. Excellent episode, thanks.
Fantastic episode, thanks for the training on how to smooth out the holes. Basic camping makes life simpler, and easier to get back to nature and chill. Flies in WA are something special
Ronny, i really appreciate what you are doing here. You are proving that we dont need over the top gear to travel everywhere in Australia. But in the process, you are shooting yourself in the foot and taking a hit on your sponsorships. I hope people understand what you are trying to do here. Wish you all the best mate. Been watching you from the begining
We have a similar air station at the great sand dunes in Colorado and it's amazing how many people don't air down and cause problems. Also, would you like some eggs with your flies? Wow! there are a lot of flies. Although, I've been to places in Colorado where the mosquitos are that thick. No good. Thanks for sharing.
Brad, thanks for the update. I love the new Landcruiser and am following your travels to help me investigate my LC model choice. PS...Do not be bashful about your 9mil.
This is YT. It can't possibly work as an acceptable fit out until you have a body chop, chassis extension, 6x6 conversion on coils with portals. Then a full canopy set up with a super king sized RTT and 1000ah of lithium batteries to power the induction kitchen 😂😂😂😂
Great video mate been following you for some time, good tips as always and very informative.Moved to Karratha from Queensland about 15 months ago, working full time, and slowy exploring beautiful WA,so much to see and do, and heaps beach camping places, and locations loving it up here.Keep up the great content most enjoyable YT channel. Cheers
Great video the canvas red on the white with turquoise waters breath taking . Tracks looking pretty chopped up ! Video footage was amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Not sure if you've seen them, but Kaon make a roof shelf that goes in the rear cargo area. I have one in my 60 series and absolutely love it, great use of an otherwise unusable area. They fit the crashpad storage bags perfectly and make a great place to store all my cooking equipment etc.
Hi Ronny, great vid. I hope u will be doing more trips with the 76 in the future. Like the ones u used to do with the 79. The 76 is by far my favourite car u have owned, and i hope to see more of it. Keep up the good work, by far the best 4wd channel out there
Better? Arguable The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long. I think it’s mainly city dwellers that want the 2.8 auto. I’ll bet not many farmers begged for it.
@@lastknownlocation8760 say that to the hundreds of thousands of 2.8l Prado, Hilux, Fortuners and now 70 series motors out there around the globe doing hundreds of thousands of ks a year. Toyota isn’t stupid. They know what they’ve made and know it’s got all the right reasons to supersede the V8. I’ve got a V8 79 and 200 series. My wife’s 150 series Prado shits over the both of them. They couldn’t have made the change sooner
Excellent videos! I get amused when I see those flies around you in one location, then you drive to another location and the flies are still there :)) circling the hat
Another great video, the paddle boarding looked really good. For airing up/down could you do a video in which brands have reliable pressure readouts. I have tried a few gauges and none really accurate. I used to have access to a calibrated air system to check gauges to but no longer. My current gauge rubber seal is now showing signs of starting to wear so need a new one.
Sometimes I feel as though you are taking me along with you. Got to admit, if this American was tagging along and you told me we were heading for a "thong shack" I doubt you would fully understand my enthusiasm during the long ride there. 🤣🤣
The Old Man Emu suspension is ideal for a bumpy ride, on any type of road or off-road terrain. This is because it is not hard but the wheels stay in contact with the ground most of the time, try it.
For what it's worth, I do like the basic setup. If the rear doors are able to open up a little more, then I would look at a simple drawer setup in the rear that has an incorporated fridge slide. Other then that I think you have it set. With all that said, what's the chance you can make a quick short on packing up the CrashPad Swag?! I have one myself and sometimes it is a pain to get back into the bag. Some tips would be great!
Hi Ronny, I ask myself whether the auto-transmission is doing well with the change of the tyre size? Do you still see the car reaching the 6th gear while tar driving? Did you check the temperature of the gearbox while heavy driving on sand already? Also the temperature of the engine might get an issue what most likely the temperature gauge would not reflect properly since that one is somewhat compensated up to the point where it getś critical. Do you have any experience and comment on that? Thanks a lot!
@8:07 wow, the amount of dust on that a7iv... 😅Off the topic of the video, I know, but did you ever have issues with dust getting in your lenses or camera bodies? Actually, come to think of it, I believe you sharing some of your experience with filming in the bush would make for a very interesting content. Greetings from Europe.
I thought you were going to mention the ride of the shocks as compared to the grenadier, not the temperature, although that is an interesting fact in regards to the nitro shocks. Great voyage, loved the paddleboarding moment and the attempt at catching some fish in the bay. Place really is alien looking with the red sand cliffs meeting the white sand beaches.
Hi Ronny. Love your stuff!!! Getting better and better as the years fly buy! Question... I am looking at buying a pajero. Up till what model would you say is best to look at. Thanks. Keep up the good work.
slowing down by steering into the sand is the same as we do in mountainous Canada, steering into the snow coming into a downhill curve, I hope I wrote this out correctly, (no flies in our winter time) lol
Hey Ronny, Long time follower here (also from WA). How do you get around the legalities of running 35 inch tyres? Are your cruisers and grenadier engineered / SSM? Or are you and your team ensuring you’re modifying your 4wd’s as safe as possible with good quality parts and not worrying about the boys in blue side of house? Cheers, Josh
Hi Ronny love Peron and all of shark bay always choose to camp at bottle bay of the sites out there, never found the track out there to be difficult and travelled it many times not sure how so many get bogged.
Hey Ronny ,I would like to see you take a basic model j 4x4 hilux and build it from scratch. This is the platform that most people especially newcomers to off roading start with and begin their build . These high end rigs are not in the budget for most beginners especially if they are going to start throwing modes at it . Old folks that have money aren't going to be out camping and laying in the dirt out on the trail so catering to the younger crowd is a way to increase your viewership and get more people into the sport.
thank you for your work. You reealy make me wana discover australia wilderness. It won't be an easy adventure I'm french and don't want to take the plane but somday maybe I'll come.
beautiful, im saving for a LandCrusier, but the 4.5 Litre, manual model. and as i just got my drivers licence, im thrilled to be able to explore WA. especially up-north. Your video has probably saved me, thank you Ronny.
Must be a bit of a let down going from 210kw to 150kw. That paddle board drone video was really a pretty sight. Not a big toyota fan but respect the durability and offroad ability.
What light did you end up with ? Doing a sort of review for cheap lights without even mentioning brand is a bit counter productive... Especially since i'm in the market for some cheap spotties 😅
Just for a fraction of a second, the horizontal 2-way radio antenna a few seconds from the end, was, to me, redolent of an M2 heavy machine gun (half inch Browning). I thought, 'Ronnie is taking his kit a bit seriously!'

Kaon do an under-roof rack table holder (for basic Bunnings table). Would be the best way to add a table without cluttering the inside.
Love the footage of the red meets white with the water.
Nice to see you on the tracks. Definitely my preferred content.
Dude, unreal video. Immediately subscribed. Please keep them coming and as stunning and informative as this one was. Epic work mate 👌🏻
Good video. The only addition I'd personally make to the 'Cruiser would be to fit a gigantic bug zapper, say 30MW+.
Love how the 2.8l is slowly convincing people that it’s actually better than the V8 - aside from the sound of course
Better?

I’ve always driven into the sand mounds because it has pretty much made the drive smoother but I’d never heard an explanation before. Thanks for that.

After driving on a saltwater beach, do you go find a fresh water crossing to clean the salt off or take any other corrosion prevention actions?
I fished the exact same spot and caught stuff all as well. Great location I took the kids with me, good times.

So glad to see you out and about again.. :)

What size/brand lift have you used for the “35!? Have I missed that info on another video….. or is it a “Secret” 😅
We do the same in Sweden, driving into the snow to slow down.
Absolutely love these videos 👏👏👏
Only bad thing is filming it’s the LED headlights strobing due to the htz being similar to the video refresh at a guess like screens can do sometimes

Hey Ronny, Great Video!… which brand do you use for communication .. antenna and radio?
I went up there 10 years ago, don't remember it being boggy or real bad corrugations, maybe the old Triton is better than what I thought it was.
Hey Ronny, with the bigger tyres and suspension mods do either of the vehicles tyres rub ? On full lock ? flexing ? etc
