In this video we break down EVERYTHING we know so far about the new Arcanist class coming to ESO in 2023!
The new Aracanist class for ESO is going to have some main similarities with other classes as you would expect but with also some new gameplay mechanics thrown in.
For starters we know the 3 class skill lines will similar to new classes like the Warden and Necromancer which included dedicated lines for Damage, Tanking and Survival and Healing. We also got the class skill line names which are Herald of The Tome, Apocryphal Soldier and Curative Runeforms. You might already get the sense that this class is heavily based in theme and abilities around Hermaeus Mora and Apocrypha with references to Tomes, Runes and Apocrypha itself!

personally im HEAVILY disapointed that spellcrafting isnt coming and more than that, that either the pr team lied or just made the biggest fuck up with the english language so far by saying we'd be getting a *NEW FEATURE* we all have wanted for a long time not understand that a new class is a new *ADDITION* to a very fuckin old feature we had kinda become content as it was so long as we got like spell crafting cause it still could fit in the game and work within the balance while still being fun. rly like someone at ZOS was probably fired some time before the event when basically everyone was in universal agreement that spellcrafting was being added with a new found fervour for spellcrafting which at this point im convinced the devs probably fucking deleted from the game all together with no intent to ever do anything it the idea again.
beyond that i at least love the look of the class and it seems to totally fit my playstyle and look really damn badass and the theme fits the sort of wizard charactes hell bent on uncovering the hidden knowledge of the world so on that front, i give them 110 outta 100 even if the pr / dev team made a second oopsie by literallly adding the firesong druids with fucking unarmed martial arts it looks like only to NOT add a monk class.
i will say that as for what i want going forward, i would love to see a spellbook weapon be added to the game with perhaps a similar 3 variants to the destro staff where there could be blood, arcane, and necrotic with arcane would be crit and pure dps and apocrypha changes to the lines abilites and it would play into the arcanists special new thing, necrotic would basically be liike a resto staff but with the necrotic blue coloring and perhaps a focus on using corpses allowing none necros the ability to interact with the corpse system, and blood would basically be the inbetween focus'd on siphoning and tieing in with the nightblades siphoning line and providing healing passives while having the abilites be more siphoning, hybrid dps healer orientated. like that or perhaps adding a unarmed line that lets us use those badass unarmed animations the firesong druids have got would be badass and either way i think it would be fair the not give these new weapons any of the old styles from the start only adding them as time goes on based on what the community wants as well as adding them to the roster of weapons for styles AFTER their release.
all in all i guess you could say its almost weirdly a sated dissapointment. like overall im disapointed it wasnt spellcrafting hardcore but at least pleasently suprised that the class idea i heard someone mention as a idea of a mage using apocryipha magic was actually correct as mora is honestly my favorite daedric prince and i love his magic and even actually would find that if i were in TES than i would honestly likely 'worship' mora in that i would work for him and help fill apocrypha with knowledge all the while doing my damndest to never just give into worshiping him as i want more knowledge as much as the next guy and with any deal that doesnt lead to mora getting to use me as his plaything, i'd take it but never would i offer him my soul outright as i like the world and people too much to do that and go that far.
This comment is way to long, it’ll be cool I wanted spell crafting too but this still looks great! U know that adding Herma moras relm is a big deal. Maybe they will have spell crafting later who knows we’ll see 😊

This is basically like the warlock class from D&D and you've selected Hermaeus Mora as your patron. I dig this. If they'd make more classes based around Daedric Prince's, people would love them.
Imagine a Sheogorath based class 😳 probably would have similarities to a Rogue

What I wouldn’t do for a class change token right now so I can jump straight into enjoying the class without having to worry about relevelling the numerous skill lines, Mount upgrades and everything else that comes with creating a new character…
Same, I have completed way to many quests on a single character for me to start over. Ill probably create a new char, try it out, and then stop play ESO for another year. Not going to keep grinding if I can't play the new stuff on my Main.

The questing wouldn’t bother me to much if they had also introduced a way to make overland content more challenging for those who prefer that, but the thought of doing the exact same content the exact same way as I have already done numerous times before just doesn’t appeal to me.
Not upset with a new class at all, it’s something many people wanted and I’m delighted for them that they’ve got it, but without the ability of changing my main via a class change token, it just doesn’t do it for me personally

I can totally understand this mindset but ironically I happen to think those parts of your character's journey in the game are some of the most fun, you know being a noob and leveling up

This class really shake things up. This opens the possibilities for more Deadric inspired classes.

Once target reached they will nerf it to the ground.
They definitely know what they are doing when they want to draw new and returning players. Dark edgy cultist like class with tentacles and ancient runes. I’m stoked for this class!
If you're a D&D player, this will remind you of the warlock class. This game needed this type of class.
@@chrisnichols9014 I only ever played one D&D campaign and I was a Sorcerer so I don’t know much about Warlock in D&D. You must be referring the the theme right?
@@Draethar Yep. Warlock's make pacts with god's and demons to get their magical powers.
I'm glad we're getting a new class, but man I wish we could get some new weapons with their own skills.

They were saying "the next new class after 4 years!", meanwhile there hasn't been a new weapon type ever. Been the same since launch. The class looks cool but man the weapons are stale...

I've played ESO since Beta, and, it has really come a LOOOONG way in that time. It's the only MMO that's managed to keep me interested for so long. I'm looking forward to this.

They really need to just incorporate a soul-system like in Rift where you can shift your character to a different class and level it.

I am so excited to see what builds you come up with for this class.
I like the fact that it's a class built from the foundations of Elder scrolls. There's so much lore and they've used it to build a class rather than a generic archetype.
Still waiting for an Unarmed and/or Spell&Sword weapon skill line as well. Could go good with Arcanist imo (The Spell&Sword obviously)

ESO will never die. Zos will just keep adding new updates and content. Hopefully soon we can get new attack animations

I really love this class, I wanted this since the beginning like the Nerco. But I think what alot of people wanted also was new weapon skills trees, like swords/book, scepter, or wand etc. Also, I'm surprised they didn't do the monk class.

I've seen online, many folks wanting a Class Token so they can switch classes and don't have to start a new class at beginning level. While I think that's a fine idea, I'm looking forward to starting a new class from the beginning. I already am planning a Dark Elf Arcanist, thinking maybe DPS

@Fusionfz That has always been a problem, yes - and it's very directly related with the scarcity of tanks and healers. Companions could have been a solution if they were competent DPS and available from the start, allowing you to start training as a healer or tank from Level 1, but they aren't.

I love the look of this class. If it ends up thematically being like it was hinted in the trailers and the gameplay is well designed, it may very well be my new main. Love the whole Daedra, Knowledge like angle. :D

I like the new Arcanist and its skill lines from your video. When the Arcanist is available I am going to create a character and see what it has to offer. At this point, it looks like it would be a worthwhile class to play.
The thing I'm most excited about the cinematic trailer is the dark elf with non-red eyes. A solid visual proof that not all dunmers have the typical red eyes. Obviously it's not a mistake or the devs forgot the lore. For someone of a bit OC, i can finally make a dunmer character with black eyes and not worry about the lore. LoL. I know it's not a big deal, but for me it kinda is. 😅
I'm so excited, as this will be the first new class I'll play since I began theory crafting of my own.
The class is interesting but I think what we need more than classes are damage types and weapons.
A tome, wands, and a onehanded melee (not one hand and shield) option for casters
Crossbows, spears, maybe a flail for stamina
Blood, the blue fire, soul/necrotic, oblivion damage types on staffs if anything for thematic reasons.
That green magic they keep showing the elf using in trailers yet we never get.

I'm definitely going to be making an arc/Necro(Arcro? Necranist?l) hybrid build, I haven't played in about a year but this makes me wanna jump back in.

I'll be interested to see what type of morphs their abilities have and what kind of combos we can put together with hybridization being a thing now. Lots of possibilities.

Zos has a reputation to launch op stuff along with new chapter. You will have your fun for about 3 months then they will kill your fun with a nerf bat.
Brokensouls was fun for those who owns one both pvp and pve.

@@jasonchui111 you say that like it isn't still a good and viable mythic, the only difference is it's working how it was intended now and balanced, it isn't like it's weak by any means there are people pushing over 100k dps using it on trials teams and it feels amazing on many solo arena builds

Hyped. This is the best dadra and a dam cool looking class.
Something I've been thinking about... is the combo point system really that unique? I mean for all intents and purposes it's basically just seems like it would be a more mechanically enforced version of the stam morph for necromancer's skull or that one whip morph dks have... or grim focus, or bound armaments. Seems like there are alot of places combo points could overlap unless they add reasons to spend them at less than max stacks.
True....this is the refine version of it....specially the dk lash combo morph

I wish they did some sort of a major combat overhaul at some point to make the game feel less floaty overall.
Use a 2h sword that's like the only weapon that feels like it has weight to it for me
They should do a Black Book bonus similar to a boon or mundus stone. Every class can have 1 book bonus at a time, but arcanists can have 2. Seems pretty simple and easy to add

Definitely a nice job portraying the new content! Do you have any thoughts on the 'endless dungeon' with a partner that they mentioned? Why was it important to plant that seed? Perhaps its too early to speculate. This question came up in my mind when you talked about spell crafting in another video, so I came back to this video.
It's probably a new daily dungeon that acts like a randomly generated roguelike with randomized buffs/debuffs and challenges. That's what I would assume at least.
I was thinking the combo system would work like molten whip, where other skills build stacks when used that increase weapon and spell power then molten whip spends those stacks to hit harder.

Think about all the outfit styles they would have to design the new weapon in.
@@eclipsedsanity9390 boo hoo. even if you aren't being serious that shouldn't stop them from adding more weapon types. even a single new one would shake this game up and make people come back to it. magick builds seriously need new playstyles because staff is some of the most boring sht out there. arcanist even uses a book as a catalyst for certain spells like why not?

Probably like a roguelike tower, endless floors the highest you progress the more rewards and frequency you get.

Welp I do like the new class especially the tentacles from the hand 👌 also mirak build 🤣. I was to be honest expecting spell crafting but welp at least is a new class. The new areas and lore actually attracts me a lot since I love those areas on Skyrim and mirak was my favorite final boss.

Looks awesome! I am really interested in the combo aspect of the class. I think they have dumbed down combat too much over the years, and we could do with some more complexity. Classes have become too similar in general.

I have a pretty strong feeling that this expansion was already being developed even before the release of High Isle, and likely even started pre-production when Blackwood was released.
Which goes to show that ZOS 100% knew what we wanted, anybody who could read the room knew that the playerbase was craving for a brand new class to be added along with some brand new systems, however, due to how most GaS development pipeline tend to work... only now were they able to meet on those demands.
Just look at Destiny 2 for example, who uses a very similar "Yearly Expansion" format... For 2+ years, people have been asking them to revamp and change both the buildcrafting system and the seasonal structure, and only now, after 2 expansions releases are we getting those two most requested features with Lightfall.
Now doesn't that sound familiar...
The new class looks great. Watched the reveal and pre-ordered it. Also looking forward to the new companions. Really liked Miri but ditched her for Ember who seems impervious to almost everything except getting caught and fishing. Is the new class on the PTS?

I want a swashbuckler class and a sea elf race with a pyandonea chapter, maybe even a daedric race with arcanist.
As a WoW refugee who’s now been in ESO for just about 2 years, this looks exactly like they crossed a WoW Warlock with a Rouge and then threw in a bit of Death Knight, and I absolutely love it!
Hopefully everyone isn’t too distracted by the shiny new class though. We’ve still got BCC classes sitting next to SSA classes 😂

Not unless it didn't have weapons at all. Instead the front bar would switch to that shape-shifting abilities.
Back bar would be the 5 different shape-shifts we can morph into.
At least you can shapeshift your arm into tentacle xD

I have problems with whole 'Shapeshifting druids'. They worship Y'ffre ... same Y'ffre who kills bosmers who dare to use their natural (!!!) ability to shapeshift ... no way Y'ffre would ever let druids to abuse shapeshfiting. Hircine likes shapeshifting, not Y'ffre as far as game went before High Isle.

The combo and "Spenders" and "builders" skill systems sounds and looks like systems from WoW! ALso the portal in the video looks like Warlock from WoW!
Loving it, but still not going to reroll my Warden, it still has my favourite class fantasy. Still, probably gonna level one, looks dope.
My main Khajiiti Warden could use an Argonian Warden companion. Looking forward to the bear combo lol.
