My dad REALLY LOVED this show. He felt it was very sweet, relatable, and usually funny. I think he also was impressed with Michael Landon, Karen Grassle, Melissa Gilbert, Katherine MacGregor, and the rest of the cast, My own favorite episode of this series is "Laura Ingalls Wilder" from 1980. Beautiful story with an impressive performance by Lucy Lee Flippen.
Thanks! You for everything and I wish they would bring it back again using the grandkids my six and seven-year-old grandchildren love Little House on the Prairie that was the greatest show on TV when I was growing up I was born in 1958 and I loved every bit of it and I still see this day and watching it don't you see em in your heart bring it back
It showed families attending church together, reading the bible... teaching their kids morals and values..that is one reason it's so popular and liked..it will never leave broadcast airwaves..
Love that show. Gave me a feeling what a home should’ve been. Never felt real safe living with my family. Father always wanted to work as feel labor or wanted me out of the house since I was 8. Leave it to beaver and this show really gave a picture of a good family
When my granddaughter comes to visit us I put on this great show as well as Andy Griffith. She loves ❤️ them. Thank you Lord for your hand and providence in the making of these shows and actors.
I have loved Michael Landon since I was 6yr old. My parents were getting a divorce around the time Little House in the prairie first came out and I always loved Michael Landon because he reminded me of my dad.
Once Charles and Caroline moved away with the kids it hurt the ratings. I just got finished watching all the seasons. The best was when the kids were little . I grew up with Little House and will always treasure those memories. Michael Landon was an awesome actor. Loved him in Highway to Heaven. I don't think he had a grudge I think he was fulfilling his promise.
I got into this show about 15yrs after it went off the air I was 10 and thought this was a new show didn't know it was from the 70s🤦🏾♀️ but I grew to love it I would watch it at my great aunt's house ... So I didn't even know Michael Landon actually passed a few months after my grandmother and they were the same age I was one and I always felt a connection to this man... Love this show... One of the only shows I can tear up on , I wish shows were still ike this but unfortunately so many things have changed and now. It's not about family or morals but views clicks and likes and "reality"
There were a lot of great episodes from this series but I'd have to say my favorite episode was Ma's Holiday! When Charles and Carolina go off on a little I guess you'd call it a second honeymoon, leaving the girls in the care of Mr Edwards.
I believe that Michael had this awesome idea of blowing up the town of Walnut Grove for 2 reasons. 1. Blowing it up saved having to tear down the buildings on set. All they had to do was bulldoze the debris up along with other clean up jobs. He promised he would leave the set the way it looked before filming Little House and he kept his promise. 2. He kept his promise as I said, but what better way to end the show then to go out with a bang, and I mean a real bang.
Michael wanted the show to go out with a bang. It had nothing to do with him being upset, that the show was cancelled. Michael just wanted a traumatic ending to an awesome TV show. From bringing to end, it showed, that Michael gave his all, and made one of the best tv shows that was ever made. Way to go, Michael! 👋👏
the greatest family program of all time..I watched as a child Michael Landon was an icon as a man as an actor but most of all as a Christian These shows represented how a family should be perfectly.. and it showed every person who watched that no family is ever perfect and that as humans we are not perfect..we all have flaws and weaknesses that require us to go through some pain or anguish in order to overcome.. But most importantly this show taught every fan of it that God is the one true creator and that all things are dealt with by God in God's time not man's.. It's no wonder why the luciferians hated this show and constantly attack it... It put God and family and faith above all else God bless Michael Landon.. This world needs more men with his genuine values.. It's sad that Mr. Landon passed away so young.. But I'm sure he is with God now He did his part in getting millions to open their hearts and minds to the fact that we must build our faith and trust in God

I heard he had to shut it down because his 10yr contract with the owner of the ranch in northern Arizona ran out. I still watch Highway to Heaven and The Little House On the Prairie every week day starting at 1PM. 2 episodes of Highway to Heaven and 3 episodes of Little House on the Prairie on Cozi TV.
@@marieantoinettescake9513 No the town of Walnut Grove was on a ranch in northern Arizona and the rest was filmed in a large studio in Hollywood and these buildings in Walnut Grove were just big empty buildings. Did you ever notice that when they opened any door that you couldn't see inside or outside that door. Those other towns like Sleepy Eye and Mankato were towns in southern California. I saw a video clip in here where it showed all those buildings being blown up with dynamite so that no one else could use them. That was really something and nothing but building wood went flying.
@@alanbregar4983 Incorrect. Walnut grove was famous Big sky ranch in Simi valley. Mankato and other "big city" scenes with western style city blocks was the old Tucson set. A lot of the exterior shots they did while on road trips were in various locations.
They destroyed the homes and buildings because that was the contract with the farmer from whom they rented the land for the show. They had to put it back to natural forest and remove all parts of the set, the best they could. The last episode was the fulfillment of the contract and finality that it was over.
i watch every one of little house on the prairie i enjoy all of these and my daughter staring watching them also this was a great for familys to learn more what familys are all about and also high way to heaven that was also great to watchas a family.
The truth was Michael Landon did not want anyone else to film movies or tv shows using the Walnut Grove sets, thus being the reason they blew them up. For example, he couldn't imagine a horror movie being filmed inside Oleson's mercantile - can't say that I blame him. . . The actual little house that the Ingalls family, and later on in the series the Carter family, lived in was NOT blown up. It was actually given to one of the actors and this actor decided to store the house on his ranch. In my personal opinion, the little house belongs in the Smithsonian or somewhere fans can visit and enjoy it - not on someone's ranch acquiring dust and termites!
I started my girls of 8and9 yr old and I believe it's the best teacher of God and family. Showing the importance of mothers and wives and husbands and fathers to play the role in their children's lives.
When you have a TV show involving kids you know it's not going to last a long time, cause the kids grow up & become adult's. It's not like the Simpsons where the cartoon characters never seem to grow older.
By far a brilliant and outstanding series. It really was a national treasure and excellent casting and script writing. In some forms historically educational and thought provoking.
.. great family show that our family liked .. I recall at the same time The Waltons came to the tv screen ... so one night it was a toss up between Waltons and Little house. Both shows have family values and the way we lived back in the early years, care free and no concerns walking along bush roads to go to school..
@@FactsVerse 1st season called country girls Laura giving that Nellie Oleson a good push and Laura reciting what she would have written on the paper.. Just reminds me of the first time i started at school ..
Everything this good has to eventually come to an end. That’s the problem with some movies that shouldn’t be remade or made into a part two. This also applies to tv shows as well. Nine seasons is a good run. It wasn’t cancelled in my opinion, just came to an end. A good ending.
I loved the show the first time round, and are now watching on Amazon Prime. It is sad when a show ends, but it was based on Laura Ingalls Wilder growing up. And she had grown up and got married, so it was really a natural end. ❤
I love the series but it strayed wildly from the true story line because Micheal Landon (whom I love) wanted to build his legacy. For the true story read "Prairie Fires: The American Dreams of Laura Ingalls Wilder."
I agree with you, even though I adored Michael Landon too. but the show did stray pretty far from what Pa and Ma were really like, and life was not as easygoing and smooth to say the least. They Hollywoodized the stories so much, they're more fictional than the books. You cant really write the hard times the Ingalls and Wilders went through I suppose it wouldnt have drawn people to watch. but I just think Pa and Ma and their families would hardly of recognized themelves in Michael Landons re-creation of them.
@@annv8360 All true. However, one must still appreciate that the show shed a spotlight on Laura's actual books, brought them to an audience that otherwise might not be aware of them and ,above all, modelled family values for many who had/ have no idea what a family is like/ ought to be. I adore Laura's books, and appreciate deeply Landon's tv series.
Landon knew the show had run past its course as the girls had grown up, both in the story and in real life. It was impossible to keep that same level of engagement that the show originally had. Fans simply had zero interest in watching a new family or set of core characters, in fact it was downright insulting to many. Times were also changing in the real world to what folks on tv wanted to see and so a remnant show from the Gerald Ford era was no longer relevant. People wanted something fresh and current to the new 80s society. Hence he was already working on pitching Highway to Heaven to start a new journey.
It’s a good movie even though it was from the early eighties but it’s good to know the hard life they have manage to live but they are happy thanks for this old movies I’m sure some of us will like watching the movie
Little House had a good run! Better to go out on top or at least close to the top! Restoring the land as close to it's original state was part of the agreement! I watch Little House whenever it's on!
I think that every child ages 10 to 17 should watch season one through season 9 and the movies at least twice!!! It will teach them morals, compassion, hard decision making, respect and how hard life can be and what it takes to be a good person and how to treat other people !!! Life is not easy and you have to earn your way!!! There are so many kids and people out there that think that they are entitled, well they need to watch the show and see what life is really about!!! Hope everyone has a great day... stay safe!!!!
Michel Landon sends us the following message on "Little House" Don't blame God for your misfortunes, they are a matter of circumstance. Try to believe in him and pray to him, regardless. He preaches unconditional love, goodness, honesty, and giving everyone a chance. Well, it may be what he always wished for during his very unhappy childhood. He was a great actor. His stories are of the many tragedies we face in life. Death, losing a child, illness, suicide, and unshakeable family values. We watch and wish we could be a part of his family. And yet, in real life, he was not the perfect man he portrayed. That's because no one is perfect. It's enough that he was a good man, who has already brought joy not only to us, but will continue to do so for generations to come.
I'm now a 60 yo man and still love to watch this thing. I first got turned on by Melissa Sue Anderson since we are about the same age. I've seen every episode numerous times. Trivia: Eddie Quillen played 7 different characters in 7 separate episodes.

I remember seeing Michael Landon in an interview on the show Entertainment Tonight in early 1982 saying that he was going to keep the show going for one more year. Landon was smart. He changed a lot of things on the last season to make the show less desirable to watch, hence lose many loyal fans to avoid receiving too much hate mail for ending the show. Also, he had a ten-year lease (1973-1983) on the land to film the show, and had all the buildings blown up on the very last episode to have the debris easily cleared away to have the land back the way it was before the lease ended. `The Last Farewell' was aired in 1984, but was actually filmed in 1983. I'm in my mid fifties, and grew up with the series. Even now, every once in a while I'll watch an episode. I don't think I'll ever get tired of this old TV show. Such a gem.
I remember watching the pilot film 1st and said to my dad they should turn that in tv series year later it were show as a tv series after showing the pilot film again.
I remember when the last show ended I was very young and felt awful that they blew up the town but, they did leave the church/school and the Ingalls homestead but, whatever happened to the buildings later after the show was no longer on TV?
Hi Scott, I once wondered the same question. It was about ten years ago. I researched it, and if memory is correct, there is a very small area, perhaps only the Ingalls’ original homestead, that was open to the public to visit and tour. I have no idea if that is still the case, but if I make it out that way ever, I’d love to visit! By far, LHOTP was my FAVORITE show growing up! Simpler times... 💖🏡🌳🙏🏼😇✨
What I hated severely about this show is the creators in charge treating and using the character of Eliza Jane to be nothing more than a scapegoat as proven in "Days of Sunshine, Days of Shadow" as if they had a personal vendetta against her and took pleasure in trying to demonize her in all aspects when she was loved by people the first time she showed up as a school teacher, now it's like those that loved her before don't care anymore like she never mattered, and look at her like a complete unwanted stranger. Seriously, what the hell was that?
I love replying a year or so later ha ha Was wondering did you read the books? Eliza Jane was a hateful mean teacher The episode when they lest Ms Beatle go and hired a male teacher kind of reminds me of how Eliza Jane was portrayed. I remember one bit whete one of Laura's younger sisters was rocking the bench or something after the teacher fussed at her so the teacher insisted she not stop and continue to rock Laura could tell her sisters legs were tired and hurting so she got up sat in the bench and really rocked it to the disgust of Ms Wilder Then again I read the books in 1987 and totally could be off my rocker ha ha
Upon binge watching The Sopranos, House and Cobra Kai, I'd figured I'd revisit the shows I had watched, growing up as a child while actually living in Minnesota on a small farm myself, I'm binge watching the LHOTP series. Because Half Pint is badass! 👍
The final season, "LH: A New Beginning." failed because Michael Landon was not in enough of the shows. It had this lookalike young guy and his wife with their family occupy their house and take on similar roles in Walnut Grove. It was not the same.

It was said that Milissia Sue Anderson was sorta standoffish, however nobody truly knows the facts. My dad loves this show and everyday he view it in French. He told me he reminds his childhood a lot.
It really does. It brings us back to a civilized society when people understood the most important things back then. Now? The most important things are how popular you are or how much money you make.
That’s so lovely thanks for sharing 💕
My mother loved the show as well. It had childhood memories for her as well. When I was growing up, Little House and the Waltons were the best family shows on television.
Just let him be he did great & helped me through the 70's. I'm 65 now & this show and Bonanza was just a few favorites. And Michael has always been real & so dam cute to boot. I think he took the best way out considering the longevity of the show & lease restrictions.
Excellent finale - unforeseen and totally in character with the shows standard of justice, community, and fortitude.

My favorite show of all time! They are the best tv family to be raised by. Awesome cast
Your dad has good taste, Daniel!
Love that episode. Little House could be a real tear jerker. That episode one of the best.

I never had a father, so I know what you are talking about
When my granddaughter comes to visit us I put on this great show as well as Andy Griffith.
I was hurt by them ending such a wonderful series
The show was on the air for nine years. It was time for it to end.
I still think Nancy deserved her own spin-off series w/ Nellie. Those two chuckle-heads 😜👍
Growing up in Minnesota I often laughed at the scenery on this show. Minnesota has no mountains. But I loved the show. 🕊💕🕊

No rolling hills in MN either?

Once Charles and Caroline moved away with the kids it hurt the ratings. I just got finished watching all the seasons. The best was when the kids were little . I grew up with Little House and will always treasure those memories. Michael Landon was an awesome actor. Loved him in Highway to Heaven. I don't think he had a grudge I think he was fulfilling his promise.
I still watch it everyday on Vision Television at 4:00 pm here in Toronto.

I definitely didn't grow up in the 70s but I still remember watching it as a young kid
The ending of the show was the best ever in tv history.
The show really blessed me with their wholesome family portrayal.
I really love watching the show. Kudos to all the actors and actresses.
Thanks for watching, Sally!
I watch the reruns and still love it. An old-fashioned way of life. I think it was the best way to end it.
Little house on the prairie will forever be remembered and beloved ❤.
the greatest family program of all time..I watched as a child
Michael Landon was an icon as a man as an actor but most of all as a Christian
These shows represented how a family should be perfectly.. and it showed every person who watched that no family is ever perfect and that as humans we are not perfect..we all have flaws and weaknesses that require us to go through some pain or anguish in order to overcome..
But most importantly this show taught every fan of it that God is the one true creator and that all things are dealt with by God in God's time not man's..
It's no wonder why the luciferians hated this show and constantly attack it...
It put God and family and faith above all else
God bless Michael Landon..
This world needs more men with his genuine values..
It's sad that Mr. Landon passed away so young..
But I'm sure he is with God now
He did his part in getting millions to open their hearts and minds to the fact that we must build our faith and trust in God
Michael Landin was actually Jewish.
Amen.
I watch Little House on the Prairie Monday to Friday, this is my favorite program. I have watched it since it first aired....I also have the complete set of DVD Little House, and also the books.
Blew up everything to leave the set the way he found it, like the owner wanted.
Hi Ms. Virginia! Wasn't there also something about him not wanting to see any of the Little House sets being used by others?
@@feelinfroggy8089 yes. And by the way, do you really think he could’ve blown up the sets as revenge against nbc without them knowing? It couldn’t have happened that way anyway. I have seen sets on other shows repeatedly. What’s happening and Sanford and son have the exact same house. I’ve seen the growing pains house on another show and the door from threes company is on 2&1/2 men and st least one other show I forget right now. Michael Landon was right.
@@michellemckillop8935 hi Ms. Michelle! I wondered the same thing! One of the articles I read, made it sound like he wasn't happy that the show was ending, but I thought he decided it was over bc Laura was grown and he said a grown woman doesn't run to her pa to fix something?
@@feelinfroggy8089 oh maybe. I heard it was all about the sets. And he’d be right. The show had run its course anyway. I like look back to yesterday better. But, it was a great way to end even though it was sad. If he could’ve bought that property somehow, it could’ve been a tourist attraction. Easily like $50 to walk through that “ town”. It would’ve been worth it. One of my fave shows. But I could easily envision it ending up in later series such as dr Quinn.

Arizona?? You mean Simi Valley, California right??

I miss LHOTP...PA was always my PA growing up ! 💜❤️🙏😇💖💯
Mine too
I remember that last episode. Saw the original airing on TV. Especially the dramatic explosive ending.
It was sad watching the whole town being blown to smithereens.
Wonderful show. Great for the family.
The show ran for nine years
By far a brilliant and outstanding series. It really was a national treasure and excellent casting and script writing. In some forms historically educational and thought provoking.
We're happy to know that you love the show. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. If we may ask, which episode did you like the best?
I watched the reruns but since I'm not far from the town she lived and wrote the books I can go visit there
.. great family show that our family liked .. I recall at the same time The Waltons came to the tv screen ... so one night it was a toss up between Waltons and Little house. Both shows have family values and the way we lived back in the early years, care free and no concerns walking along bush roads to go to school..
We're glad to know that you like the show! Which episode is the most memorable for you?
I watched Little House On The Prairie in the 1970s and I still watch it even now
I honestly think he did nt do it for spite, he was such a kind man
Thanks for watching, Mandy!
I cried over the show.
It ended perfectly since it had to end at all. So glad there are reruns. Great Grandkids, ya know should watch good quality.
The best beginning of the end of an era.
Thanks for watching, Kal!
We absolutely agree! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Be safe and have a great day!

I watched the show on reruns back in the 80s. Love history, my picture of 19th century life of my ancestors. Don’t see much of this these days.
I think it was all the above. Still love this show.
Michel Landon sends us the following message on "Little House"
Don't blame God for your misfortunes, they are a matter of circumstance.
Thanks for watching!

I remember when the last show ended I was very young and felt awful that they blew up the town but, they did leave the church/school and the Ingalls homestead but, whatever happened to the buildings later after the show was no longer on TV?
Thanks for watching, Scott!
I love replying a year or so later ha ha
Was wondering did you read the books?
Eliza Jane was a hateful mean teacher
The episode when they lest Ms Beatle go and hired a male teacher kind of reminds me of how Eliza Jane was portrayed.
I remember one bit whete one of Laura's younger sisters was rocking the bench or something after the teacher fussed at her so the teacher insisted she not stop and continue to rock
Laura could tell her sisters legs were tired and hurting so she got up sat in the bench and really rocked it to the disgust of Ms Wilder
Then again I read the books in 1987 and totally could be off my rocker ha ha
@@zannido3125 So what? She was a different character in the book series and Laura hated teaching. Even the real Mary never got married or had a child.
Even the last season without Charles and Caroline was entertaining. I wish they made 5 more seasons!
My mom watches it every day from 5-7 and highway to heaven before
I remember when TBS would occasionally celebrate the show with a special uncut airing of “The Lord is my Shepherd.”

The final season, "LH: A New Beginning." failed because Michael Landon was not in enough of the shows. It had this lookalike young guy and his wife with their family occupy their house and take on similar roles in Walnut Grove. It was not the same.
