Oh, Drukhari. The only army that fears bolt pistols. Stats of a horde army, points of an elite army, and a lack of a detachment ability. They are at the bottom for a reason.

If you already own the army and have played them forever then keep playing them. If you don't own them then keep the opinion. And those two people aren't the only ones good with drukhari. The game isn't measured by ppl winning a tournament. There are ppl who can keep a consistent wincon with shit armies. The game isn't just and has never just been datasheets. Na, they need to change the rules. New units would only mean Eldar win with them. They need better rules and strategy cards. Why on earth wynches no longer have combat drug is just weird. Part of the problem is that this is a shooty edition, meaning only kabal units are good, while homoculus and wynches suffer. And the current army rules need all 3 types to get bonuses. Hopefully they get a good new codex.

Nobody bother use incubes, homculus or wynch units anyway. So giving a new beastmast pack would be cool, but useless.
The plastic stuff they have are fine, their infantry bar Wracks are some of my favourite models. The Failcast stuff does need replacing and then to get people to buy them they could make the rules for them competitive. I do think if they decide to do this it'll be along with the Codex. So no holding of breath... A nice fighty Archon would be nice as would a Haemonculus though he irritates me less than the Archon model.
Buy 3 Combat Patrols, a Chronos and 3 boxes of Scourges. Expand from there into the direction you want (like the 6 Talos lists that seem to be the core of competitive play at the moment for the dark kin).
Dispute it being a popular opinion I diss agree with suggesting this to new collectors. Combat patrol is a fantastic box as stated, and 2 is fine for a beginner (though I personally would get 1 and then a second once I passed 1000-1300 points). There is too much redundancy and not used models with a third box. In the past 2.5 editions you basically never wanted 3 archons and only good for kit bash base. Currently I would want venoms before I took 3 raiders. And currently you will probably only run 5-10 incubi. I would recommend getting 2 and then a 3rd ravager and kabalites box. And even then only after collecting some of our other good units.

Instead having a cheap deep base that can be expanded in multiple directions even if you don't use all your initial models every time makes a better investment long (and short) term. It isn't like you need to run out and buy all that stuff at once either. By a Combat Patrol, play Combat Patrol. Buy the second Combat patrol and a Chronos (convert the Archon with Chronos bits into a Haemonculous), play 1K. Buy the 3rd combat patrol and the Scourges. Play 2k. Welcome a year of hobby. What is "good" in 12 months might be very different to what is "good" now and now you have a strong, relatively cheap, base to build out from and you understand the game much better to make better choices with.
a LOT of dark eldar players are pretty unhappy with the changes overall in 10th. Not so much the army strength but the just absolutely wacky unit composition rules.
It is partially due to some the older individual kits not being marked up super high. Wracks are expensive as are incubi (though most of us got all of them from deal boxes) and pain engines (though they come with so many bits we tend to get our money back from kit bash material).
If there's one kit I'd recommend all newer players get regardless of playstyle and future plans for your army, balance updates, etc - it's the Cronos. The Cronos allows you to re-cycle pain tokens - i.e. the thing that lets your units just re-roll all your bad dice rolls. That's huge. 1 unit in your army just existing on the board within 9 inches of another unit, and that unit gets to re-roll all the bad dice away, without spending a pain-token (effectively). Imagine having 6 of your units surrounding 1 Cronos, all within 9 inches of it, and all of them having a chance to get full re-rolls without using up a pain token. You do have to roll a 4+ to recycle a token of course, but on average that means you're getting 3 tokens back in that scenario. That's the End goal of this unit. #Caveat-time# Do I recommend getting a Cronos immediately and using it in your 1st 500 point game? ... ... ... eih, maybe.. it depends. There's an argument that at 500 points the games are too small to get the best use out of a Cronos. He'll only buff 1 or 2 units in that mode, and the points could be better spent on just getting another killy unit instead. Because the Cronos can only buff, he's not a killer. He's there to buff 3 to 6 killy units. So I can see an argument for not using him in 500 point games. So unless you already just really love the Cronos anyway and want to run one 'cos it looks cool, you probably should play your 1st 10 Drukhari games without one. Just so you can get used to the basic mechanics of the army 1st, get a feel for how quickly you burn though pain tokens without one, discover why your 1000 point army will absolutely need one. 2nd reason to buy a Cronos kit anyway... because you can turn it into a Talos with minimal effort if you need that instead :P 3rd reason to buy a Cronos kit: you get so many spare parts, little gubbins and bits you can use to kitbash other the Haemonculous Coven troops. Seriously, the amount of stuff you get from that kit is amazing. It's the reason people can take kits from Age of Sigmar and turn them into Grotesques. You can also do what I did and use those spare little arms and appendages to just kit-bash your own Haemonculous out of a spare kabalite warrior as well. Saved me £20 :)
This is what i did. I got the talos/cronos kit. Built a cronos and then used all the spare parts combined with a crypt horrors box from sigmar and built 3 grotesques.
Awesome! I'd like to add that the OOP minis do have an upside: Drukhari are a kitbasher's dream - and even just considering GW minis there are tons of choices to base your bashes on.
Drukhari are a great faction to practice your edge highlighting skill. I wouldn’t say they are the easiest faction to paint but they can look amazing for not very much work. A good return on time invested. Also, they are 3 factions in one so you can always switch when you grow bored. I pity the Astra Militarum or SM players Their main drawback is the lack of availability of a good chunk of their models. They do not even shop up on GW’s website.
Afaik, 4 combat patrols for the kabalites and boats seems really good. 2:6 or 3:5 ravagers to raiders and 40 kabalites isn't horrible for a mass-obsec army w/ darklance support for vehicles and monsters We'll need more kabalites and the unit-splitting transports, but it's a great start!
Anyone else remember when you could put about 48 Dark Lances in an army and terrorize Marines? Not sure if the rules have changed, but it was basically instant death for everyone and it was amazing. Not very creative or difficult to play, but a fun way to fill your tear cup with mon-keigh tears.
Side note, about Kabalite Warriors’ box options - it’s not “fancy power weapon for the leader” it’s free upgrade from A2 S3 AP0 Dmg1 weapon to A3 S3 (anti-infantry 3+) AP-1 Dmg 1 weapon And how to start an army - 2-3 Combat Patrols. That will give solid 1000 points at the beginning
Given how long they've been around it's weird that the Drukhari line is lacking a true faction leader and depth in the line. Vect is long overdue for a release imo. Granted given how legendary he is I'd expect him to be a per point equivalent of the best of the faction leaders.
The silent king is released so i don't see why Vect can't be released, it makes even more sense because just like the silent king he also just respawns if killed. But yeah, probably expensive
After playing Rogue Trader and there being Beastmaster enemies, beastmaster pets, Medusae, Ssylth, etc, they definitely need to be re-introroduced in the tabletop this edition. Also, plastic Grotesques and updated Haemonculi, please. COPIUM with a side of HOPIUm.
Is there a set release date for this book? I'm a complete noob with the tabletop I haven't bought anything yet but I am seriously considering the drukhari as my first purchase because their lore is sick and I love their look.
I have a decent amount of Drukhari through Ebay but even with it there are many models I simply cannot get (At least if I don't want to be paying 200-500% of the original price). Also if they get some good adjustments in the dataslate I expect those prices to go even higher and the models be even harder to find.
I don't think it's a good idea to start with a Kabalite Warriors box. Chances are you're going to want the Combat Patrol box and maybe even two or three copies of it, so you're going to end up with a lot of Kabalites anyway, especially if you take the decorative models off the transports and use them as even more Warriors.
He suggested it as a step in for someone checking out models and not committing to full combat patrol, which is valid. It probably will not be a waste if they stick either as currently more then 2 CP comes with too many un used units and you will need the special weapons for anyone who cares about wysiwyg.
Buy 4 combat patrol boxes 3 boxes of scourges build the 4th ravager as a raider buy 1 box of kabalite warriors 4 talos / cronus kits and magnetize them boom your army and you can have 20 incubi as a later choice when they maybe won't be horrible
I started Drukhari end of 9th and continued in 10th. But damn it's a punishing army to play and collect. Sometimes transportation claims more casualties then an actual battle :P
The answer to that problem is to drop foam and magnetise the bases instead. Battlefoam has very good cases though I must warn you that their UK customer service is very poor.
In a sponsored tournament for sure it will not be allowed. In a game store it will be store dependent, but more often than not you could though they might baulk if you only used 3d print and never bought anything. Most individual opponents will be fine with it (especially with home gsmes) as long as they are relativly correctly sized/base sized and are recognizable as a flesh monstrosity.
Buy expensive 3d printer realise you have no idea how it works and the results are shit and uses alot of electricity.Or support the company that gives us warhammer...

Agree with other commenters - melee units really need help particularly incubi, detachment rule was not worth them even printing, and it doesn’t help that some of there best scoring units have been unavailable forever eg mandrakes.
Literally gotta wait around about 6 months for Drukhari kits to become available, and they sell out in about 45 seconds because GW only prints 3 boxes at a time. It's rough collecting Drukhari.
Buy Dark Lances. It's a sad state the spot they're in. I used to play Dark Eldar back in the day. Wish i could buy into them again, but just feels like no point right now where they're hot trash at anything except dark lance spam.
I actually think there is good chance for them to get a decent release with their codex. For one, GW has been going hard on army refreshes and new army’s the last few editions, and their are not that many left that have not gotten more then a new model or two since 6th or 7th. Plus the way they organize beast pack and court in index hints at box releases with those specific numbers. We will for sure get an expansion to world eaters and votan and probably emperor’s children army. I dought harlequin will get much since getting rolled into craftworld. That leaves what; custodies, genestealer, and drukhari left who have not gotten a big update. Very likely one or two of which will also get love in 10th.

Step 3, Pray for updates so you can play things outside the combat patrol

In a game store it will be store dependent, but more often than not you could though they might baulk if you only used 3d print and never bought anything. Most individual opponents will be fine with it (especially with home gsmes) as long as they are relativly correctly sized/base sized and are recognizable as a flesh monstrosity.

@@raphwalker9123 Tbf, I am against a 3d printer. My Problem here is that it also keeps me from entering these kind of armies, because I would like a healthy range like for example Necrons.
So if you can´t support a whole range, maybe make less factions or just less SM Lieutenants. Sorry this is really just ranting about a problem we probably agree on

want to know how to win with drukhari -skari is a brilliant place to learn, he seems to win every GT he enters using heavily skewed lists though.
Agree with other commenters - melee units really need help particularly incubi, detachment rule was not worth them even printing, and it doesn’t help that some of there best scoring units have been unavailable forever eg mandrakes.

Literally gotta wait around about 6 months for Drukhari kits to become available, and they sell out in about 45 seconds because GW only prints 3 boxes at a time. It's rough collecting Drukhari.
Buy Dark Lances. It's a sad state the spot they're in. I used to play Dark Eldar back in the day. Wish i could buy into them again, but just feels like no point right now where they're hot trash at anything except dark lance spam.
I can't see them upgrading any of their stuff now.
I actually think there is good chance for them to get a decent release with their codex. For one, GW has been going hard on army refreshes and new army’s the last few editions, and their are not that many left that have not gotten more then a new model or two since 6th or 7th. Plus the way they organize beast pack and court in index hints at box releases with those specific numbers. We will for sure get an expansion to world eaters and votan and probably emperor’s children army. I dought harlequin will get much since getting rolled into craftworld. That leaves what; custodies, genestealer, and drukhari left who have not gotten a big update. Very likely one or two of which will also get love in 10th.
