In Diablo Immortal, YOU are the treasure goblin and Blizzard try to hit you as much they can before you leave.
LMAO

Lol Hilarious :DDDDDD
"This game was made for China"
-meanwhile in China:
-Let's ban Diablo Immortal
China will not allow to get milked by a foreign company. It's always the other way around.
I mean let's not get ahead of ourselves. They haven't done anything to DI, they hit Netease, blizz's release partner. It won't be permanent for Blizz and in fact Blizz was the victim in this, lol.
I was happy when i heard they banned the game in china.
@@rumers100 why? I rather have Blizzard making off China rather than us.
The boomer of Cp don't approve this generation behaviour
Some people might think that Asmongold is overly negative or judgemental - even incorrect about the people behind this game. As a game developer who has actually worked for one of the largest mobile game dev companies (King, Candy Crush - now part of Activision-Blizzard) I can tell you that he is correct about everything.
I will not go into much details but I can say this: The people you normally think of as "game developers" - all the Artists, Programmers and Designers - have NO SAY about these horrible, predatory, money-making game features that are designed by Game Economy Designers, Lead Game Designers, Game Managers, Testers and other big potato of the company. I've seen individual "game features" being AB-tested out of context, even before there's an art style - much less A GAME LOOP - in place. One might ask why? Think about that for a second.
There's so much shit going on in large-scale mobile game dev it's crazy. Huge companies are highly political, and are often lead by people with no background in gaming themselves (but rather being lead by career-managers and people with backgrounds in finance). Just imagine having leaders in the studio who never programmed professionally for a single day in their life - never made a piece of artwork or anything. It's like if the head of a hospital has no background in medicine! These people don't care about YOU - the player - they care about their careers and about making as many people as possible play there game, and spend as much money as possible, so that shareholders are happy about the growth of the company.
The real creatives behind these games are just as pissed off as you are.
Well why work for a company that pisses you off? The creatives are at the heart of the product, without you big potatoes cannot succeed

It feels like gaming executives saw Ready Player One and were like "YES! Do this and monetize all the things!". Everything is turning into slot machine gambling nonsense.
In case of Diablo Immortal it's "Ready Spender One".

@@kayossangel fair enough lol
Pretty much this, I’m glad some of the blizzard vet left after wow launch right before the merge in 2008 or else we wouldn’t have games like Guild Wars 1 and 2, Torchlight and Hellgate London even thou Hellgate London was kind of a fail it was made by former blizzard vets who try something different unlike the current blizzard milking the same bs.
I am a victim of of Immortal. Happened to be on vacation when it came out and played it everyday hardcore. By the time I realized it, I had already spent $400. I don’t even play it anymore. Big sad.

Imagine going to a movie theater and seeing a movie and realizing it’s eight hours long but if you pay an extra $20 you can cut out all the filler parts and make the movie only two hours long.
How about for 50$ extra you can get a short summary and not waste your time?
This here brings the question why play it If the mindset is to rush shit
That example implies the devs created 8 hours worth of content
The more refined example is it's a 2 hour movie played at a 0.25 speed
exactly, but instead of 20 dollars its 500 000
Don't give them ideas
The death animation he was so impressed by is also from Diablo 3 act III…it’s crazy how much they just re-used. Also those yellow orbs that they use in the battle pass progression bar looks like the old Diablo 3 rift keys aswell just recolored and added something across it.
The "beginning of the end" for Blizzard was the launch of Diablo III. I'm surprised how many people have forgotten what a farce it was, but that was when I jumped ship from anything Blizzard related. It made it crystal clear that any semblance of the quality from their past was no longer a goal, and they now exist only to get *all* of your money, even if that means tricking you into giving it to them.
The sad thing is, I think Diablo Immortal is probably a better game than Diablo 3 at launch. The RMAH and the complete lack of drops (and Blizzard nerfing drop rates in the first few days on top of that). I refunded Diablo 3 and never looked back.
The beginning of the end is WOTLK.
What they've done since that is trying to do some necromancy shit on a finished IP
Call me a male chauvinist pig or homogeneous but Diablo with tits is where blizzard died.
Diablo 3 at launch was probably more fun then it is now. I liked how you could sell items in game and make money. Now it’s just duped gear and para 400’s rushing people in rifts
I'd argue that the beginning of the end was actually much further back, probably some time after WoW was released and Blizzard subsequently merging with Activision. WoW gave Blizzard a real taste of what its like to make enormous amounts of money and planted the seed of desire to make even more ludicrous amounts of money. Why else would they have merged with Activision if not for seeking even more profits?
Once the seed was planted, it just grew and grew but at a very slow pace. The events of recent years have shed light on the past with plenty of people just straight out leaving Blizzard to either form or join companies made up of ex-Blizzard employees. As a result, with Diablo Immortal, you can just see that there's hardly anyone left in the company with the desire to do the right thing.
It is a bit ironic that the company who wrote the story of Arthas, who was corrupted, and of Leah, who was turned into Diablo, also ended up being corrupted themselves.
I was at Blizzcon and in the crowd at the stage that announced Diablo Immortal, this was definitely the beginning of the end.
My god, the money RichW spend on this game gets me out of debt 10 times over.

I bet that 90% of Diablo immortal's dev cycle was developing the monetisation system
"I think a metaverse game will be pay to win, but on a completely different level"
Yeah, it'll be play to earn to pay to win.
You have to pay money for advertisements
We already have a metaverse with all the Blizzard IP's, and an example of play to earn to pay to win with the guy that made almost $50k in WoW Tokens to spend it all on Diablo Immortal.
Wasn't that in ready player one , the meta verse movie
the guy that insulted the bear is a legend that will never be forgotten. If he did that on the diablo immortal account on purpose he should be hailed as a hero.
I love how in the dungeon he’s playing along with the dodge mechanic but his party is like “lol big damage turret mode go brrr”
I played the game until level 35, got bored, and realized that I really just wanted to play Diablo 3 instead lol
Lol that is the same game copy pasted
D: Immortal is same as DIII, just graphic and sound seems somehow improved to be more pleasant. I don't see the point to play this mobile abomination except the fact you can carry this game whenever u want as it in your phone. Fingers crossed Blizz will not fck up DIV... But its current Blizzard so I shouldn't have any hopes I guess...
"How did we get here?"
By a decent proportion of today's game player's being all about the competitive endgame, and not about the journey to get there.
DI is bad but it shouldn't make people like Lost Ark. Remember, before DI, the main opinion was "LA is a gacha game gambling machine". DI being bad doesn't justify having 1% chance for a paid weapon upgrade or any of those other gambling systems in LA
Yeah, agreed.
1% should be in 23-25+ level which is unnecessary level. +20 or maybe +21 is enough for all content even in current kr. Also remember that LoA honing has Artisan pity system so you're bound to fully upgrade that level since you can pity hone. Before that, NA doesn't have 1415-1460 Honing SH buff, however 1370-1415 SH hone buff is now implemented in last update so its a much better experience now. Global honing buff will also be implemented at some point. Punika powerpass, hyper-express are all free catch-up mechanics that will be given during class release or legion raid updates in NA.
Overall, 1340-1370 is the deadzone but due to current or even upcoming events + express, it's a nicer experience than the initial release experience.
Lost ark might look P2W to others, but Im inclined to say its P2L starting vykas legion raid, and next one would be kakul, and brelshaza. Even on new abyss raid. All of these modes need group coordinations and mech knowledge that's why whaling on Ilvl can't really win you all the stuff in the game. It just gives you a headstart to play higher lvl raids, but later on f2p players will catch up with mechanics and gameplay progress. There are f2p players who are 1460-1470+ level too. For now, 1460 is the highest ilvl content on the game and alot of f2p players are already on this ilvl.
Good job editor filtering out that two steps from hell song! good catch and voice is still totally audible.
While I've glanced at your content in the past your commentary on other videos about immortal got me to follow you 🤣
lol 30:21 really hit home. Do you hear those people who say "omg, I hope D4 is going to be good". They know damned well it's going to be P2W. PoE 2 will come out in the next few years, and that's something to be hyped for.
The best part about PoE2 is that we've been given proper early act playthroughs including showcases of changed systems like ability gems.
We've seen exactly what we're going to get, and considering it's the same game rather than a separate game we can also be confident that nothing will change regarding monetization or things we're currently enjoying being cut out.
As for Diablo 4, we've seen some possibly cherry picked gameplay, mostly cinematics and nothing about the actual systems.
We know nothing about the monetization (but we can honestly predict how it will be like).
We know nothing about the endgame loop, the gearing and character customization etc.
Personally i haven't played PoE in half a year, mainly because I've already spent 3600 hours playing it since 2014 and I don't wanna burn myself out before PoE2 comes out.
I expect to quickly shoot that number up past 4000 after that though.
Legit going to play Poe instead of the Diablo dumpster fire. Also I recommend looking at Grim Dawn, The Last Epoch, and Wolcen
if plankton, minnows are dolphin and whale food, the dolphins and whales are bobby-food. bobby is the captain of the ship, standing around with a bunch of harpoons going "arrg the sea be full of treasure".
they have the whales in the tanks, all they have to do now is catch plankton, how to do that? streamers. gaming channel always preach about playing the game 1st then decide if you wanna pay. what did they do? 200 dollars in 16 hours.
Man! mad respect to your editors, of course the main content is spot on as always, but so are your editor(s).
As a past p2w dolphin I can say it was the addiction for me. The gambling was so addictive for games like Raid. Especially when playing with friends and seeing them get cool new stuff. I didn't want to be left behind so I spent thousands over a couple years. It wasn't till I added it all up and realized how much I was hurting myself that I was able to quite mobile games for good.

I love the way Peon says Diablo Immortal at the beginning, you can hear the smirk.
21:44 funny thing about the disconnected popup, if you press the X to close it, you dont disconnect, pressing OK literally causes you to disconnect
Unfortunately, some studies suggest that the urge to "P2W" is similar to the need to buy expensive clothing in order to show off.
Having low self esteem makes you a "prime cut" for such a scenario, and it is very likely that you will end up spending loads of money even if you cant actually afford it.
P2W games combined with gambling mechanics are even darker than straight up gambling.
They prey on multiple levels of an individuals mental state, and they can latch onto a person just by them feeling mildly unhappy about one aspect of their life. And from then on, it is 800% value and we all know the rest of the story.
We may be delusional and doomed but I'm still glad to see you have so many subscribers and supporters and you share many of the opinions about good game design and how it's been consistently chipped away at from things like battle passes, mtx, etc. Not sure how millennials who value good arpg/loot/rpg game design got associated into a 'Boomer' mentality (how did we skip over GenX? lol) but I think there are many gamers of all ages that are lamenting what is rapidly happening to the integrity of games.
I know you've now covered these types of topics on WoW and Diablo but the history of mtx and battlepass introduction into Destiny and subsequent degradation of design quality would be an interesting case study on this topic.
The thing that comes to mind for me when I think of a metaverse would be like a more social virtual world such as VR Chat, but with more of a controllable character. but we arent really there yet in technology.
I remember watching this 1 anime that had shown a similar concept but I do not remember its name.
I just restarted D3 to try and hope in hyping myself up for D4.
Peon has and still is my go to guy for rpg games :)
p.s PoE isnt for casuals, me as one of the casual nubs am struggling alot but its currently the best ARPG out there, by miles.
Yeah, buildmaking in PoE is just get higher than any Arpgs at the moment, one of the few reasons to play PoE.

the moment the ad is better than what the video is about :D (referring to his diablo immortal video)
We want something like a story, where we are the main character in different world. Immersive is the word. Not mini games or minigames with microtransactions.
I feel like Diablo Immortal is giving other gacha games a bad rap. Like, Arknights, Genshin and Azurlane, etc.. are gacha games where you can pay to get more characters, but you never really can pay to skip the grind. Like, waifu collectors, while they have their own predatory tactics for sure, are definitely not a pay to win system. Diablo Immortal makes you play to enjoy the high-end content, while other ones tend to front load the cost of unlocking the characters, and then you grind to use them
Agreed
Aren't you paying to upgrade their weapons as well?
I wish there was a separate section where it is just story mode. Without distracting purchases, battle pass, other players.

11:15 I never played the game, and have no intention to do so. But from what I can see, the whole idea is for it to be fun... in 5 minute intervals. Which is why the extremely boring grinding later on is all conveniently done around things that take you 5-10 minutes.
And I also think that this is why there are still people that think it's fun. Because all they do is start the game up and play 10 minutes while on lunch break or on the porcelain throne, and then close it and go back to work.
Thank you for continuing the Diablo Immortal reactions I truly enjoy having a phone lmao
As someone that has been a PC gamer for most of my life, as I have become older the only time I get to spend gaming is on my phone. Diablo for me scratches that itch and helps me to relax. I get the controversy but its the only thing that helps me to escape my issues.
That no crest run meme is about to be me in 5 minutes.
Asides paying for extra content (expansions, map packs, ect) I have never liked to spend money in-game. I don't care about cosmetics THAT much, and if I can't play the game at a high enough level I need to pay to win, I'd find another game. Like asmon said remember, buy a game...play a game...and progress, that's it. Screw the battle pass!
For regulations to happen, I think the next step is to demonstrate that these game cause harm to people. We need to gather testimony from people who have lost life savings/huge amounts that they couldn't afford to lose.

What I don’t get is exactly what Asmon stated. “what you see in Diablo 3 is what you see in Diablo immortal.” Then why would you want to play it? Not only have I played it already but I also find Diablo 3 way worse than Diablo 2 in terms of the gameplay.
I like how games like yugioh master duel has a battle pass but you can purchase it using the gems you get by playing the game, I don’t have to spend $10 if I don’t want to I just gotta play the game and do some objectives and I get the battle pass and it’s not even hard to get the amount of gems needed
7:30 i could literally smell the Kappa in chat... thinking of mount offs lol
All the real gamers play real games, let the goblins enjoy their money pits with other goblins while we enjoy actually good games, and have actual competition and skill based play. They can't join us without p2w because you can't buy skill ;)
LazyPeon on Diablo immoral ""Diablo immortal is so cool by mobile standards"
LazyPeon on FFXIV This game sucks, I bough a jump potion and the history/gameplay is shit"
Why dont u cry on reddit cuz asmon don't play ff yesterday while you're at it
14:42 Me playing raid shadow legends in the background: "Amen brother!"
5:50 So that ad is basically Epic Store's Roblox, but they now call it "metaverse".
