@@garuthesun1445 my dude i bought diable 3 for 30 dollars on console . got over 200 hours of fun co-op gameplay with one of my good friends didn't pay an extra cent until reaper of souls came out, and reaper of souls was worth the money. all the rifts were free, legendary drops and the highest level of gems and difficulty were behind zero pay wall. the game had plenty of heart and soul put into it.

I literally can't believe how ridiculously designed this entire system is. They have not only checked every box of basic and advanced predatory tactics, they turned it all to 1000. It feels like a joke, like Blizzard is just begging to get even more governments involved in creating policy against this. I just... I don't understand why this exists. They knew the reaction this was going to get, and they completely doubled down... I feel terrible for WoW and D4 holdouts. I can't imagine what's going to happen next.
It's only going to get worse because the people who care are just outnumbered by the people who just want to play a game regardless of the cash grab.

Watching Asmongold play this game role-playing as a gullible player made me realize how stupid I was when playing other games. I never realized that I was being manipulated in such a way. I bet I would even fall for one of these purchases saying the exact same thing "well it is only a dollar, I guess that's fine" and I would end up spending more than just a dollar. This has honestly helped me realize that. Man manipulation can be so subtle and scary.

@@maceoclaiborne5683 if it makes u feel better, genshin has an actual game component that gets updated pretty often, i.e. the story + exploration. outside the gacha component(gacha games are inherently greedy of course, literal slot machines after all), the game itself is not something to be guilty of spending something like $20-40 over. diablo on the other hand....
@turntwigg I do, but if it’s a game that I am having fun with, those “deals” look all the more appealing. Usually it’s the “starter pack” or whatever that I ended up buying first since usually “it is only a dollar.” I ended spending more because I broke that mental barrier that was telling me not to spend money. I am aware of the manipulation tactics that are being used in these types of games now, with Diablo Immortal using pretty much every trick in the book. I have never realized it before but now I know that I need to watch myself more and not be so gullible. It kind of sounds stupid that it took Asmongold’s videos on this game to make me realize it but it’s true. I was making excuses for each purchase so I just never really realized it. Sorry for the long reply.

The amount of effort that went into this game is amazing. They deployed every tactic to make the game as addictive and monetizable for whales it's amazing. There isn't a single aspect of the game that wasn't designed to maximize profits while doing as little work as possible copying d3 to mobile
I can guarantee you there are more and better people working on this games monetization than gameplay development.
They have psychologists, casino experts etc. And probably a few underpayed gaming dev students.

I feel bad for the guys who worked on graphics, sound design, and other gameplay elements unrelated to monetization. They did a pretty good job especially compared to other games on phones (of the few I’ve seen). They made a pretty fun game that is totally corrupted by the shop.

It's really not. He's just saying it is by buying every single thing and saying it's giving him an advantage. He keeps saying he's so strong because of his gems, but he has almost entirely f2p gems and is only "so strong" because he is playing campaign, aka easy mode. The game doesn't even get remotely hard even for f2p players until after level 60. If he used his money/gems the correct way, he would be geared to the teeth only 25 dollars into spending but he destroyed his 5 star gems and upgraded f2p gems lol
Asmon is slowly realizing the entire game is literally D3 with small changes to hid the fact they literally copy pasted it. The curator is literally ZK with a different skin, same VA, same dialogue, same behavior. Like even all the zones are exactly the same with very small ambient changes to trick you.

Even by mobile p2w standards, Immortal is an 11/10 on its monetization. They really did not pull any punches on this one. It's just crazy how people are defending it using the argument that "this is how mobile games are". Just insane.

@@Ducksquare I've been enjoying immortal more then current D3. However that could partially be blamed on the fact that D3 doesn't get actual content updates and I've already played it to death.
The only reason this game makes money is because homeless Diablo fans got tired of season 50 of Diablo 3 and are unable to relive their childhood from Diablo 2. Basically just the Diablo name, the game itself is poo poo.

If anyone is playing this game as their enjoyment game or doing it competitively, then they're just wrong. I will say the artwork and character customization was done really well despite knowing where the majority of the work went into.

Tarkov's EoD explains all future DLC is free, yeah it's $140. Now Arena is teased, lots of people who haven't bought EoD are mad it's not free for them. Not P2W, but at least BSG was open and upfront about it. I have about 3k hours into the game, so well worth it for me.

If you click on any basic gem, then click "get more", it shows you where you can get them. It turns out gems drop if you kill mobs out in the wilderness or dungeons as long as you have a party of 4!
Yeah but very rarely. My warband and shadow clan run our bounties and stuff in parties of 4, and we've maybe seen one drop since day 1
People are fuming on asmon for promoting this p2w model but what they don't understand is that he's trying to show the absurdity of this game. He's making people annoyed on purpose so they do something about it because in the past whenever he took a stand for p2w things like store mounts, he got completely bashed on by everyone and now those same people are angry with him for playing diablo immortal.
I think it’s pretty safe assumption that Asmongold’s exposing on all this will result in a huge negative profit for Blizzard. Asmongold paid less than $1k and will probably result in millions of lost potential revenue by all the people who are disgusted watching this video

It's been a while since Asmon gone into full sarcasm mode, though it's kinda uneasy to see him spending and playing such way but he definitely trying to deliver some hidden message without trying to bash Blizzard openly, or not in an obvious way.
The real thing that's heart breaking is from what I played the game is good abilities are solid animations on point and those cosmetics omfg but it was time and energy spend on a shitty cash grab mobile pos game this proves blizzard hasn't lost there ability to make good games they just choose not to that's the true slap in the face

Just wait till people realize the end-game gear has layers upon layers of P2w... F2p has a 5 percent drop rate for one gem with rare crests. You need to level up each gem to level 10. To show how hard that is, it requires 51 level 1-star gems just to reach level 5 on a 1-star gem. After it reaches level 10, then u can put more LEVEL 10 gems into that level 10 gem. I think a one-star gem can fit two other LEVEL 10 1-star gems into it. For max gear, each gear piece needs a 5-star gem 5/5 at level 10 (which requires 30+ 5 star gems to level up it up level 10 plus other gems) and u have to pray that you got a star gem 5/5, not a 2/5 and you still need multiple levels 10 gems inside of them.
Spending 20 dollars might save you 40hrs or something?

not only is this Pay-To-Win, it is pay-to-win from inception to the launch of the game. They designed the pay-to-win mechanic into the basic game and every aspect of it going forward will be the same.

7:49 - Actually, no no you wouldn't lose that money. If you never open any chests at the end of the the rift... then you get the crests back in a message with it attached. Me and a family member were playing together and we used our first free legendary crest that you get at the start of the game... but we never got any chests because we were just a couple of seconds too late (they'd never played this type of game before so didn't realise the urgency). I freaked out thinking we'd just wasted one each... so we cracked on with the rest of the story. Later, about 1 or 2 missions later I noticed there was actually a message saying "You didn't earn anything from your previous rift, any rifts you don't complete will have your crests rewarded back to you in a message like this one". So don't worry.

All of this coverage on Diablo Immoral makes me so glad I departed from Blizzard products years ago. Growing up with games like Warcraft 3 and Starcraft, it’s sad to see how badly the company’s integrity has gone down the drain. I know it’s not new that Blizzard has become a scummy company but it just keeps getting worse and worse. I miss the days of Chris Metzen being at the top.
I was ok with blizzard until early 2010s. Sc2 was good, wow up to mop was great, d3 had that bs auction house, but I didn't play that one.

I held out, and was in denial until the recent(ish) Blitzchung and "don't you have phones" nosedive. I considered the Overwatch character shorts to be the peak of Blizzard, but I should have known the decay had set in years earlier - covered up by having a personable face like Jeff Kaplan head up OW. Actiblission has no room for the oldheads like us who bought their full games and expansions and expected the full effect of their games right out of the box. I've decided I have no room for them, either.

When I saw "Mocking Laughter" I almost died.
It actually pains me how much I like this game. As a dad gamer it is nice to be able to play on my phone. Hopefully enough out cry happens that they change some of these bullshit systems
I like and play the game as well and I don't expect to be the best player in the world by remaining f2p. If you're just looking for a good time as a dad with limited time, you can have plenty of fun in Diablo without spending anything! Just have fun, life is already stressful enough lmao.
Stop letting people think for you. This game would be nowhere this developed, nor free, nor receive constant updates if it weren’t for this business model. It’s a great game, and despite the ignorance surrounding it, there are millions actively playing it. It’s quite literally one of the most positively reviewed games in the MMORPG genre.

Sorry but their business model sucks and I find it hard to believe that charging ppl the way they are is the only reason it is what it is. Tbh I don't seeing this game lasting long if they stay their course. Plus future diablo games, shit blizzard games are going to suffer if they do. Again I still really like it and having fun though.

Jesus, in all of my years playing mobile games, I've never run into a game this pay to win. Normally the cash shop is just cosmetics, boosts, exclusive mounts, in game unique currency and a battle pass. But this game, you can even pay to increase the RNG loot in your favor, not guaranteed mind you. Meaning this is a game where every run you can pay more and more and more to get anything decent.
I think the worst part for me is that the game actually looks pretty good from a gameplay perspective. Especially considering it was made as a mobile game with no original intent for a PC release. It looks solid and honestly, I would have liked to play the game. But it seems like a fun game that is being packed with every microtransaction imaginable. My only issue is that I don't know what this game has over Diablo 3. For all intents and purposes, it seems like a mobile-oriented re-imagining of Diablo 3. A majority of the abilities are pulled from D3 from what I can tell. So assuming you're on PC, what does this game have to offer you besides being new and free? Assuming you're a Diablo fan, you probably already own Diablo 3 and reaper of souls.

I seriously dont get it. Everything, EVERY SINGLE THING in this game you're able to do in Diablo III but here you can just skip whole progress by spending money. For me there is no hope for Blizzard atm. I cant believe that this company few years ago could organise their own convention only around their games for thousands of people every year and now they're producing typical chinese scam. The best thing they could do is just stop existing and start everything again from the bottom. It would have like 95% of failure but its only solution for them.

I'm sure FTP or very limited monetization players (just season pass) will believe for a long time that they can keep up with heavy invested P2V player or at least reach them with just "a little" more play time and grind invested :( ... I just today watched a YT-er proclaiming "oh, that's all no issue, the whale may have quick progression and outperform quickly, but in 2 to 3 week I will catch up at the same level just by my play time and grind" ... yeah man, good luck with this ...
Having played many mobile games, I must say this game makes those mobile games look like they are not trying. This is the true mobile experiences, as everything is enhanced with what rhymes with funny.

Played Diablo 1-3, this is sickening. Loved the series until now
when video games add a P2W element in the game, the price tag they put there basically shows how much developers value player's time.
If you have to grind for 4 hours to get this one item that can be bought in cash shop for $10, that effectively shows that developer believes that you are worth $2.5 an hour.
However, if you increase the value of player's time too much, this incentivizes player to grind in game for money, leading to botting issue.
Perfect example for this would be Lost Ark.
games come and go. if you don't spend money, you will have fun and play at your own pace and move on when done.
when you decide to spend big money just to look and feel cool, you'll be forced to play more since now you are invested, even if you aren't 100% enjoying the game.
just play and move on when done and save your money.

Looking at thise F2P rifts was versus the paid one has reminded me how in the good old D3 auction house days you barely got any Legendary drops. Me and a friend went literally a 100 hours without seeing a single one.
