The AEV is definitely my style! And at least it is more than an appearance package the “stuff “that you get for the money on the AEV package isn’t terrible in my opinion. Having installed steel bumpers on my truck by myself, I would definitely pay 1000 bucks to get it done because it was way more work than I thought it would be. But that “regular “A 4X is 🔥 in person too!
When they say the bumpers and skids are stamped, it means the metal is cut then "stamped" using hydraulic presses to get them shaped. They are not stamped with any AEV badging. There's a lot of materials, machining, labor, shipping, installation, marketing costs, etc. I doubt in today's economy you'd punch them out much cheaper.
Called AEV and asked when they plan on selling their bumpers to the general public. I have a 3500 so AEV wasn’t even an option when I purchased my truck. AEV said they do plan to offer their bumpers in about 4 months. They have to fulfill all the GM orders first but once those are filled they do plan to offer them. How much is the only question. The current RAM and Colorado front bumpers run $2,700 and the rear is around $1,500.
We have to lean on AEV to produce the prototype brush guard that goes with their front bumper that they had on the Sierra Grande truck they took to SEMA.
@jbreviews great video but a few things. I agree on the winch. I cancelled my order as soon as I saw it was not coming factory installed at 109k. On the skid plates however, the AEV are made of boron steel, not carbon steel. Both steels have similar tensile strength, however impact strength and resistance to wear are about 4 times higher than carbon steel. Boron steel is also much more weld-able (is that a word?) Making it more conducive for repairs IF Needed. It is all due to the winch I am holding out for a season or two. Having one on my power wagon has been a lifesaver for me and many randoms I help on the trail...it's the tool you will never know you need.
in few years used one will be $120K, and new one just quarter milion the way everything goes. I got AT4 a month ago and to be honest I have way mor dislikes then likes about it
I have the Silverado 2500HD ZR2 with Bison package. The AEV bumpers and skids are really nice, and that's about all you get for $9k. Is it worth it? Probably, because they are built very well and have HD materials. There is no way you can get the materials, do the fab work, ship, install, market, etc, for less. The AEV wheels and center caps are really nice and look different, but I'm not sure they add any real value vs. other aftermarket wheels. The rest of the AEV Bison badging is relatively cheap plastic badging and crappy stickers on fenders. AEV embroidery on the headrest is nice, but who really cares. AEV floor mats are similar to stock rubber mats with more aggressive tread. Stock mats feel better. My only real complaint is that the bumpers have 12 pieces of plastic on the front and 10 on the rear. Seams aren't super tight, and I think they'll look like crap in a couple of years. They also trap a lot of dust and debris, so it's a mess washing them. I'm glad I bought it and look forward to my winch install.
100% agree. I plan on selling my new AT4X bumpers and wheels to purchase aftermarket. Way better wheel options. Way better price, and it won’t be exactly like everyone else.
I have the 23 Canyon AT4X and I’m digging it. Having some weird popping clunking sound in the rear when turning though. Any of that issue in your AT4X?
They will fit no problem. I have 37/12.50/18 on my 24 SLE HD. All I did was turn the torsion bars up a little to make level and took front valence off the bottom of the bumper and they fit with no rubbing issues. Now for the 20 inch wheels I think people are having to trim some of the liner
Rich man's truck, It's amazing all the people on here that think that this is a great deal, you must be millionaires or you must have won the lottery or your parents left you a lot of money, I worked for general motors for over 30 years and watch their prices go up and up This is the worst I've ever seen, if I wasn't an ex employee I would definitely not buy one because of the price It's outrageous, yeah they're great trucks but doesn't anyone think they're overpriced is it just me? Better off taking a home equity loan out instead of a car loan.
$100k is pretty normal nowadays for a full size diesel truck. I’m a normal blue collar guy not a millionaire, didn’t inherit money and don’t play the lottery. I just bought one. Just had a hefty down payment and it’s reasonable.
