At4x hands down. If you just simply judged it on which truck would make me turn around and check it out every time I walked away from it, that GMC is fine.
Thank you for doing this video. This really helped me out how to make a decision I’m hooked on GMC now .it was between GMC and Ford. I don’t like Ram performance and all of them are almost the same price I did drive all of them. You are absolutely right. Thank you again.
No disrespect to the Ford guys, but that Tremor looks so goofy compared to the AT4X. Maybe the height difference exacerbates that a bit, but that AT4X looks so macho by comparison,, as well as better executed front end styling. In terms ride of your GMC, I believe the DSSV shocks are doing their job, but the tires could be what is causing the rough ride as well. They're quite heavy...
The GMC has expensive LED lights, but the lights in the Ford (also in the new F 150) are built within the grill, so if the Ford is involved in a crash, how expensive would it to be fixed....
I own both a 2023 Ford Tremor high output and the new 2024 AT4X HD! Both trucks are awesome but if I had to choose one it would be the AT4X. The Ford is hands-down, the fastest of the two! Also, the Ford is averaging 18 to 19 miles to the gallon and I haven’t gotten better than 16 1/2 on the AT4X. The AT4X is by a mile, a smoother and more comfortable truck! No wandering and in my opinion it is much smoother on bumpy roads. I also noticed while driving down, bumpy roads, the doors on the Ford sort of shake and rattle while you’re hitting bumps and the GMC doors don’t even Budge. These are my real world experiences anyways.
Drove a 2024 F-250 Platinum Tremor short bed and the GMC 2500 AT4x this weekend. It was a really good comparison. Both trucks were black and both were loaded up. The ford was missing g the message seat options and it has the high clearance steps. Man, both trucks were just wonderful. I still have not made up my mind. It is a crazy difficult decision. Believe it or not, if I order a Ford with the Tremor package and I get the message seats, power steps, and lay flat seats… it’s going to be about $6000 more than the AT4x! So I liked several things about the Ford that is subjective. (1) I felt the visibility over the dash and hood is better in the Ford. I think the lower hood, slightly smaller mirrors, the dip in the front door windows, and I think the heads up display is better than the GMC. Other things I really like about the Ford is the power steering wheel control, the power adjustable pedals, the panoramic roof and I really liked the Fords infotainment system location, it sits a little higher. Now…. the GMC is just a beautiful truck, you could tell people pay attention to the AT4x. It looks a lot more youthful and aggressive. I’m 57 and my wife drove them also, she’s 60. The sales manager of both dealerships were in their 60’s. I gave out ages to say this…. The AT4X looks like a 23 - 45 year old truck. Its height, aggressive stance and just the flat color bumpers make it look kind of trendy. The Ford is more subdued in presentation and if I get the Tremor, it will be in the Dark metallic grey with the rear tailgate badging painted out to the same color as the truck.. the windows tinted, the orange tremor decal replaced with a flat black decal and I’ll replace the tires with nitro trail grapplers or BFG KO3’s. I absolutely loved the interior on the GMC. I loved the ride of the GMC and I believe it’s a better overall value. Probably one of the biggest add of the Ford is the aluminum body. I live in a heavily salted winter roads…. It’s easier to keep fords under carriage from rusting than the GMC’s undercarriage and steel body. I really take care of my trucks. I usually keep my trucks until I’ve paid off the loan. So… rust usually isn’t a huge issue for me but I’ve sold most of my trucks to close friends so… I definitely want to make sure I don’t neglect maintenance in any way. Another awesome review.
Not sure why people think off road shocks supposed to be soft. The good ones are stiff. Theyre supposed to be able to absorb a lot of bumps without bottoming out.
I've got a 2024 gmc 2500, and my buddy has a 24 f 250 high output and we have raced 15+ times, and I literally get him every single time. He has got the kick, and I come back on the big end. The numbers don't add up. Someone is lying about the specs.
On the ford, Double tap the traction control button to put in sport mode. Or You can put the drive mode to slippery. There are ways around the torque limiting. I’ve driven both and there is a difference in power. And also to mention better visibility, better seats, cup holders, pano, the ridiculous trailer brake placement in the gmc, AND lack of an auto exhaust brake in the gmc is weird. The gmc is a beautiful truck and I really wanted to like it, but I couldn’t find anything it does better.
I don't think GM is lying about how much horsepower they have their engineer even said they're going to give more power to the wheels than anyone else, 500 horsepower is just another way for four to charge an extra $ 3000 to use even more torque management I've been in a diesel pickup that was 500 horse at the wheels All the time and the wheel spin was almost uncontrollable
I’m sure Ford is hoping nobody sees the GMC before signing the dotted line for their truck. One looks like a luxury truck even from the outside while the other looks like a school bus with aftermarket LEDs. YIKES 😂
I currently own both and the GMC pulled stronger then my Ford loaded or empty. Gmc is a smoother power delivery as well like you say. Love both trucks but they are different in many ways. Gmc always better on mileage as well.

Good review, except for two important items. I just got my 2023 F350 Lariat Ultimate Tremor past the 1,000 mile break-in period. It took me all day today to figure out what advance technology to turn off, but after turning off Pre-collision assist, and holding the traction control button more than 5 sec turns off the traction and stability control systems, and putting in 4H, I got to 60 in 5.53 sec . In 2H time was 7.5 sec. That’s crazy amazing. Second, the trail mode which allows me to climb 4 x 4 trails in cruise control, like as slow as 1 MPH, and the system automatically idle’s up to overcome obstacles and it applies brakes to control inertia it took to overcome obstacle to slow momentum. Trail mode works in 2H too. Softer seats, smoother ride due to tremor shocks, quieter ride….oops I started adding more than my two original points. Well, the clear winner is Ford, all the way.
Both trucks are sweet, very competitive, think GMC is better looking but the Ford won't fall victim to rust up here in northern New York. where where i
You would pay a price for the Aluminium in a crash however for the Ford compared to the GMC, and rust can be prevented by undercoating and proper care unlike what MOST think...
Good video overall. The 0-60 times have varied on a few other youtubers with yours being the slowest on the Ford and I couldn't find one faster on the GMC or Chevy. Looks wise I definitely prefer the GMC vs the Ford. Same on the interior the GMC looks better. I just drove both trucks this week back-to-back and preferred the comfort as well as ride on the Ford F250 Tremor. The seats were way better on the Ford. I am not partial; I like both. I own a older GMC 1500 and F150 and my main truck is a 2020 F250 7.3 and it looks like I will order another one once I hit 100k which will be maybe in a 12-15 months. I can't see paying 10k more upfront as well as all the additional items that come with a diesel vs these new gas motor. I tow heavy a few times a week and these gas motors get it done. Thanks JB, love the videos keep them coming.
As far as faster GM times I have seen a non-corrected boosted 6.5 and a 7.0 0-60 for a 24' Chevy and 24' GMC. Still not likely as fast as a magazine test however since they do a 1 foot roll out corrected time.
Nice review. I think these numbers prove out that Ford does have more horsepower (73 mph at the 1/8th vs 70 mph for the AT4X) but it also proves that GM increased their low end power (they claim by 25% which is a lot). So again, I have said for years these peak numbers mean nothing. It’s the area under the curve that matters. 500 hp and 1200 torque sounds good but you’re just not getting that power all the time. And then these comments are going to be funny.
Is it just me, Ford looks outdated with same old look and no refinement. GM has taken over the truck market. All my friends and business associates drive GMC, Chevy and Ram. 5-10 yrs ago, we drove exclusively Ford and Toyota. That's how things have changed!
I wonder how much the newness of the ford was hurting it. Engine break-in is a real thing, and ECUs do take time to adapt. We’re driving at like 4,500 feet of elevation even on the valley floor in salt lake, seems likely with on 30 miles on the ODO it’s still a little rich. Would be interesting to run the same test with a tank or two through it.
I'm a bit late to the party. The Duramax isn't underrated. All power trains from GM go through an SAE certification for their HP output which allows for a tiny (5%) variance. It's putting out the rated 470/975 as advertised.

I was about to ask the same thing. The F250 Tremor was the fastest truck they ever tested, but somehow his testing has Chevy on top in everything. Weird how that works...
I would assume Car and Driver done their testing at a lower elevation, took the best number out of multiple runs, and done boosted launches. JB is simply hitting the go peddle with no boost at elevation. I highly doubt he is trying to sandbag the numbers. It goes without saying that both trucks with boosted launches and perfect conditions will have better numbers than in this video. I'm sure the Tremor is ultimately the quicker truck due to it's output, but I don't think the difference is big enough to stress about unless your ego requires stroking. (pun may have been intended) 😏
@@MZZHZZWZZgood luck getting people to understand this lol. What JB is doing is real world. What the magazine guys do is prepped surface, perfect conditions and/or even corrected times (meaning they use a formula to “correct” their actual time to what it would have been in perfect conditions) and they are 100% doing 4wd boosted launches.
Interested in the gas versions and which has better traction and can take the biggest tires. I think Ford would win out on the roller test where the front has limited slip and the GMC does not. Is that true, any help here please?

what altitude are you testing at? it looks kinda like the high desert of west texas/new mexico. im kinda wanting to see the performance numbers at approximate sea level (where i live in the us)
The story on speed is look at the trap speed at the 1/8 mile...F350 73mph and At4x was at 70mph, Ford has so much torque management your not seeing the full power till 5th gear i have read. I bet in the 1/4 mile it would be a different story. Not that that is important in an HD truck.
Only interested in the gas versions. I think mechanically the Ford gas version is the better choice with 29 more HP and both having 35's with the 10 speed transmission they are equal except the Ford can get an optional 4:30 rear end and the GMC only has a 3:73 option so the Ford will have a lot more low end power overall depending where the engine torque comes in. But the GMC looks better and likely has a better quality overall. But Ford may have the better seats so I am leaning to the Ford gas option. I hate the new diesels they are an expensive headache.
Tremor availabel on 350 AT4 and AT4X not available on 3500's. Are we working under the assumption the AT4 = F250 FX4 and the AT4X = F250 A4X? Ford has two levels so I am assuming those are GM's. Tremor takes a huge hit on conventional towing loss around 8000 pounds. HP and Torque raw numbers really do not mean much by themselves.
So I build a nicely equipped Gmc&Chevy. The Gmc came out at 86,789 Canadian. The Chevy at 86,614. I did my best to keep costs down, and just get the basics. I was edging for the Chevy to be significantly cheaper in the Ltz line. But in the end the Gmc Slt even though if comes with chrome bumpers had much better looking wheels. And for some reason in th e configured pics if still showed the Chevy wi th the previous front end clip which I and many others hated. Thus pushing me over to the Gm. That said I don't have 95k for truck after tax. lastly, my 2017 Nissan Titan has birds eye, park sensors etc, and all that is optional on both those models which at that price range is a total joke. Nissan should have stuck to their guns, built an actual HD truck and stuck a Japanese diesel in it. Would be far better value instead of all the click bait options the domestics due.
The Ford's mph at the 1/8th was over 2 mph higher, meaning it would blast past the GMC in a 1/4 mile; even though it is severely torque managed in the first gears !!
I LOVE the new GMC, but the ford is cheaper and have a Torsen front diff, with more towing and payload. For me, It's the Ford...kinda sucks because I LOVE the new AT4X

@@Billybob50119 right….and yet again waiting on all those facts you’ve claimed. No proof just noise 🤡 and have you not seen the drag racing videos of the duramax losing 🤭 cry harder
You’re sandbagging on the Tremor. Car and Driver got 5.5 for goodness sake. Not sure what your doing or not doing.
Something isn’t adding up. There’s not a chance from my experience and what I’ve seen from everybody else.
Andrew Collins from the drive was at 5.5 0 to 60 with ford.
At4x is a good looking truck, Ill still take the Ford Tremor though
Your in-depth review was excellent!!! Subbing my man!!
NOT A Fan Of Fords... But The Aluminum Bodies Were Smart To Give A Shot For The Cold Weather Salty Road Areas .... Just Have To Keep Up With The Undercarriage Rust Protection...as well On The Ford Since The Frames Are Still Steel... So On The Powerwagon or At4x HD Would Have To Keep Up On The Undercarriage Rust Protection and Body Paint Protection... Sounds Like The Aluminum Bodies Are Holding Up Well So Far With NO Protections... So Gotta Give Ford A Point For That Coming From Minnesota.... Between The Ram Powerwagon And The GMC At4x HD(Probably AEV Edition) For Me Personally... The GMC Gaining Ground On MY Personal List... Just Big Disappointment NOT Having a Front Locker...When I Began... Started Looking At The 1500 At4x with The Front And Rear Lockers...🤔 1st was Actually A Blacked Out Silverado Rst... but Then Thought I Should Get Locking Diffs... And Thought About Payload For A Insulated Camper... Started Looking At The HD At4x.... GMC Does Say The 4wd System Does Do 95% Of What A Front Locking Diff Can Do So....😬... NOT Planing On Actual Rock Crawling So..Mainly Northern Minnesota Snowy And Icey Roads.. and Over landing on own Land So.... Not A Fan Of Plastic Grills...Thinking Of The Metal Powerwagon Grill... But The HD At4x Is Back To Being A Contender🤔.... Just Have To Keep Up On The Rust And Paint Protection on The GMC Or RAM🤔... Would Grab A Rubicon If I Do A Rock Crawling Venture ....Better Payload And Hauling With The GMC.... Kind of A Trade Off Between Higher Rear Clearance Suspension System On The Powerwagon And The Lower Vulnerable Looking Rear Suspension system on The GMC For Better Payload and Hauling Capabilities🤔... Bro!!! You should go get the GMC dyno’d. I know everyone would want to know.
This
Gale banks has a dyno video of an ultimate on his channel. Worth the watch.
The boats fast to go through anything you want them to do comes down to preference I like the Gm trucks better
Now on ro the off-road comparison
I wonder what the GAWR FRT with the plow package would be?
you can have OEM or aftermarket front torsion bars changed to raise the front GAWR to the 6000lb standard. My plow (Fisher) supplier did it for me
what altitude are you testing at? it looks kinda like the high desert of west texas/new mexico. im kinda wanting to see the performance numbers at approximate sea level (where i live in the us)
i read the about a bit more of the video. so salt lake area. almost a mile high. it might be better at sea level
I love the power of the 23 super duty ho. With the gauges, have you used them in tow haul mode? You can add way more info in the digital cluster
The ford needs a leveling kit and a big rach hand bumper up front, witha 12,000 pound warn winch
Another vote for the GMC
I have both the ford is faster should have shown a few more runs
The story on speed is look at the trap speed at the 1/8 mile...F350 73mph and At4x was at 70mph, Ford has so much torque management your not seeing the full power till 5th gear i have read. I bet in the 1/4 mile it would be a different story. Not that that is important in an HD truck.
WE NEED TO SEE THEM OFFROAD!
Hope the super duty gets the new F150 tailgate
Yes Ford can defeat GMC in some performance !
Car and driver got 5.5 seconds 0-60 in a high output f250 tremor. High output is fastest diesel by far.
yeah and they get faster the more you drive them fast too. They did that on tfl and it kept getting faster and faster
Please compare the gas engine version of these trucks
Tremor availabel on 350 AT4 and AT4X not available on 3500's. Are we working under the assumption the AT4 = F250 FX4 and the AT4X = F250 A4X? Ford has two levels so I am assuming those are GM's. Tremor takes a huge hit on conventional towing loss around 8000 pounds.
HP and Torque raw numbers really do not mean much by themselves.
GMC 3500 DEFINITELY available in AT4X. Check GMC website.
@@josephtutela1066 not. yet, only. at4
GMC always underrates hp/ torque and towing capabilities.
Realistically you should launch them in auto 4x4. Take tire spin out of the equation.
The torque curve starts lower than the ford, makes up for the 30hp missing on paper lol
9:46 take the truck to a dyno and measure the power, before saying that GM is lying about the HP.
The Ford's mph at the 1/8th was over 2 mph higher, meaning it would blast past the GMC in a 1/4 mile; even though it is severely torque managed in the first gears !!
More like, Ford is lying about there hp, I own a Ford and my buddies GMC out pulls me every time. Time for me to get a GMC
Do you have the ho engine
The Fords are limited severely in the first three gears
I boycotted Ford once they decided to go woke
I LOVE the new GMC, but the ford is cheaper and have a Torsen front diff, with more towing and payload. For me, It's the Ford...kinda sucks because I LOVE the new AT4X
Termor rides terrible compared to normal f250. They have 1 ton leaf pack
Will the SFA give someone back pain?
Let me guess you probably own a GM truck and not a ford or Cummins ?
GMC all day.. look at that sad looking Ford front end ., 😂 GMC beast
Gas vs Diesel comparison get out of here
GMC is a lemon ask fellow owner s.
Give proof please, aside from some stories on the Internet...
