  • This is in my opinion the best version of the song. Taken from the album '25 Years: The Chain'.

A beautiful love song based on an incredible love story. Not put on a record of ill-romances and distrust and accusations, which made the record epic. Love the record, love the lyrics, love the song, love the vocals .....

I had older siblings who had the songs of Fleetwood Mac playing all of the time. By the time I was in HighSchool Stevie was producing her own music as well as with Fleetwood Mac. I still listen to their music every day. I think I know the words to every song!
This is one of my favorite Stevie songs. Along with many other. Her birthday is May 26. Mine is May 28.
I will be 52 this May. I suppose I started “twirling” to Fleetwood Mac when I was just a little girl. L❤️VE.

One of my first jobs when I was 16 was at a restaurant where I was a bus boy. All the staff was older than me the age of the members of Fleetwood Mac. There is another version that is only marginally different, very much like the two versions of SOTM that you'll find on the Fleetwood Mac albums. In my opinion- the way the vocals are crafted in this one... it just sounds more polished. Perfect. An under played and for many an under appreciated song. It has all the beauty of Stevie Nicks haunting vocals and a tune that gets under the skin to a depth of the soul. Maybe not their best but high among those that vie for that position and when the mood suits you few can beat it.

I really hope they have another opportunity to get past this last split up and tour together. Time is fleeting and precious. They have the fortunate ability to work together and bring their beautiful art and melodies to life. I hope they bury the petty animosity and work together once more. We all love them and would love to have an opportunity to see them on stage again whole as the original Fleetwood Mac.

Agreed about the version, too...... although the version on "The Dance" is a bath in goosebumps :) In particular, they know exactly what and where the exhilaration is in this song; on "The Dance" they quadrupled the dose.

Thanks for posting, love the pictures! Stevie was my idol when I was 16. I used to wear the long flowing dresses with the knee high boots and 4 inch heels while the other girls were rocking their hip hugging bell bottoms! And this song is one of my all time favorites. Her voice, those lyrics, the instrumentals woven perfectly around the words, I have never grown tired of listening to this song. I love the band but Stevie just stands out and something about her draws you in and touches you. The pic at :26. What these two have been through. Also 2:10 and 3:14. This whole band grew up together and have been through so much. So good to see them together now!

Such a great album that this song, one of the best pop songs of the 70s, didn't even make it on the original release.

You could be my silver springs
    Blue green colors flashin'
I would be your only dream
    Your shining autumn, ocean crashing
And did you say she was pretty
And did you say that she loves you
    Baby, I don't wanna know
I'll begin not to love you
    Turn around, see me runnin'
I'll say I loved you years ago
Tell myself you never loved me, no
And did you say she was pretty
And did you say that she loves you
    Baby, I don't wanna know
    Oh, no
And can you tell me was it worth it
    Really, I don't wanna know
Time casts a spell on you, but you won't forget me
I know I could have loved you, but you would not let me
    [Instrument solo]
Time casts a spell on you, but you won't forget me
I know I could have loved you, but you would not let me
I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you
You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you
I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you
    (was I such a fool?)
You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you
    (was I such a fool?)
I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you
    (give me just a chance)
You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you
You could be my silver springs
    My blue green colors flashin'

I know many of the Fleetwood Mac songs (I mean, who doesn't?) but not this one. This one, well, the live version actually of this song, was recommended by a colleague of mine/a friend at work. I'm glad she made this recommendation. Thanks Suzanne!
