Underrated comment 👏🏼
Facts 💯🤣😂😅
Stevie Nicks deadass locking eyes with Buckingham for a solid minute while singing is possibly the best power move in music history. "You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you" indeed.
I love this so much! The last "never get away" was so powerful and eerie.
A quote to remember ❤
It’s INTENSE.🔥 His face 😂
Pretty sure the lyrics are " from a woman that loved you "
She sounds great
None of us will ever be as excited as Mick Fleetwood playing the drums.
Lol

Yeah idk about that. It’s called a little thing called cocaine.
All that drama going on in the front and my mans was on the drums like 😋😄😊😀
I love watching the joy and intensity as he plays! Such a talented man, one of the best drummers ever. 🙌🏼
she furiously stared that man down and made sure he in fact will never get away from the sound of the woman that loved him
And he stared her back. This wasn’t a one way street.
But he did
And almost 27 years later, he's still haunted by this spell she weaved live on stage
Yet, she left him.

Not just a song, but therapy. THAT was a performance.
It is very cathartic and humbling to watch this knowing a girl in my past who looked and carried herself like Stevie and know I Efed up our relationship much the same way Lindsey did theirs.
Props to the cameraman for sticking with that closeup on that stare the entire time without cutting away. The true hero here.
This songs s Lyrics have been stuck in my head
He was also very invested
True story
I SWEAR, it’s spellbinding 😉
With Fleetwood Mac you always got treated to a live version of a soap opera with the rest of the show. That stare was intense.
i absolutely adore how the drummer is living his dream amidst the chaos ensuing in front of him
Less than 2 years before this he and FM were playing 2nd billed at county fairs minus Buckingham, Nicks and McVie. You bet he has tears in his eyes - all that beautiful music and money was back.

This dynamic is incredible. She's absolutely calling him out even after all these years. He takes it. He absolutely let's her nail him with her lyrics. He stares straight back at her and there's SO many unsaid things that pass between them. She walks towards him and he leans forward to encourage her. I wonder if the people in the audience knew what they were witnessing and how this iconic moment would be talked about for DECADES to come
Great question because if I recall this performance came out on VHS tape as "The Dance" which was performed before a young college crowd

What's the tea? I don't know anything about their private lives
@@helenarichardLindsey and Stevie were initially a duo putting out records, while also being lovers. Fleetwood Mac wanted Lindsey to join their band, but didn’t want Stevie. Lindsey stood firm and said they were a package deal. Fast forward a few years and while their relationship was rocky, Stevie ran into the arms of the drummer, Mick Fleetwood, cheating on Lindsey with one of his best friends. And that caused the band to either crumble or pour all of that pain and hell into their work. Couple that with the dissolving of the relationship between Christine and John McVie in the band, the result was Rumours, which is one of the greatest, and most heartbreaking, albums ever made.
the 70s were wild, man. a group of people who can't fucking stand each other, all hopped up on coke, end up creating one of the best selling albums of all time.
You can see she's really feeling the thoughts she had when she wrote this song, and I think the fact it's been so rarely performed gave her a chance to pin him to the wall with it. It was as though she said, "Ok, Buddy, we're going there right here, right now, and you truly won't get away from the sound of my voice, dammit." She's a total badass queen, and I adore her.

Christine so sedate and calm, Mick in his own drummer world, Stevie laying into Lindsey like a QUEEN, the cinematography, Stevie's ethereal beauty. This is a masterpiece, start to finish.
Well said. Perfectly accurate.
Don't forget John... he's just playing not paying them any attention because he's BTDT with them eye screwing on stage for 23ish years ( at this recording in 97)
Yes exactly
Christine nodding her head like, “I know, sis, I know”
Baha right !!!😂
He’s singing HER lyrics on how he’ll never be able to escape her and escape the success he’s gotten because of her. He’s playing a solo on HER song. The power Stevie has over him.
Lindsey's massive talent and his exceptional work fine tuning Stevie's wonderful songs for her boosted her career. Both are incredible talents individually but even more so together. Seems that you're undervaluing Lindsey's own incredible success as well as his contributions to Stevie's equally incredible success. Fleetwood Mac only wanted Lindsey to join the band but he told them no deal without Stevie. He's the reason you know her name. They're musical soulmates who have boosted each other's success, not a one sided thing at all.
Let’s not get carried away here. Lindsay is a genius as well.. and taught her to play guitar so she could write songs.. such as landslide
She proclaims "love won't die", accentuated in her eyes. He engages, faces her, locks eyes, leans in, bows, points his guitar at her & plays like "I know". The passion & pain is mutual.
Mad props to both of them. Lindsay knew full well that staring at Stevie would allow her to elevate the moment either way. It is such a “Go ahead…give it to me!!” moment.
I was about to say the same thing. Props to Lindsay for standing there and being the punching bag. So much energy given and taken.

That’s not true. Of course you can stop loving someone.
@SarcasticPixie not sure you've ever been in love if you also don't understand how you can begin not to love someone...to have them finally turn around and see you running...telling yourself the other person never really loved you...
Landslide is about Lindsay too. It's probably when what she refers to in this lyric started.
I don't care what anyone says, Lindsey did not look angry at Stevie. This was a look of passion, love, pain, and guilt. It's deeply personal, but the fact he locks eyes with her the entire time while singing with her, says something else entirely.
It’s anger at himself
He was allowing her to tell him.and accepting it with his look of compassion not anger. I agree
Just back yet again for my daily dose of this performance
R.I.P Christine her piano and vocals in the chorus were amazing paired with Stevie’s and Lindsay’s
Yes & yes!!!
She’s eyeing the 2 of them like, “If they start fighting up here I’m gonna be singing this by myself.”

When she's belting "never get away" and you can just see it all in her eyes
There's a live performance of The Chain in LA that is arguably more intense and emotional. Everyone is mad and there's most likely cocaine involved and it's mega intense.
@@davidcochran113 I totally agree. Both amazing, amazing performances but this feels more like Lindsay pulling the raw emotion out of Stevie and letting her use him as a punching bag. The Chain is all of the Cocaine hitting Lindsay at once, fueled by an arguement they just had before walking on stage and Stevie staring at him like, "what the fuck you doing on this day boy!?!"
The time frame between the two performances probably plays a lot into it as well. This performance is like a hurt that will never heal, but the Chain is like an open, oozing, bleeding wound.

The way Lindsey looks back at Stevie as if encouraging her to unload all of her anger/sadness/emotion into those final choruses is genius.
The way she looks dead at him while singing shows the past they have shared and what he’s done to her for decades . She didn’t even try to hide it . I’ve always loved her so much and she sings from her soul ….. I’ll never get tired of her music and Fleetwood Mac. I loved them from the beginning
That she is nearly shaking when she belts out that last chorus tells how much emotion is behind those lyrics. Love it.
The emphasis she puts on "never get away" at exactly 5:00-5:07...imagine singing this and remembering all of the hurt, the anger, all of those unanswered questions...all of it just flooding back while singing this song to him on stage, AND in front of a live audience.
@@davidderitis9068 This was 30 years after knowing her - he was used to the drama - probably a lot more than this. They spent years singing and wailing at each on stage after they broke up. This was the 3rd day of recording and Stevie said she wasn't completely happy with the previous performances.

it’s incredible because though it’s a “stevie” song, Lindsey still has a guitar solo and it only ADDS to the drama it’s like we get a slice of his perspective in this story
I can never stop watching/listening to this version. The way she was casually looking at him throughout the beginning of the song to see if he’d look at her.. and then once he did he couldn’t look away. The song is very prophetic. After all these years they still haven’t gotten away from each other. I’ve always wondered how his wife felt about the obvious feelings they still have.
@@recaseever539 spells in lyric form are very powerful when half of the globe is singing along.
@@recaseever539must be why they were never spotted together back stage maybe his wife was jealous or they knew the feelings were still strong
@@amy7642 or maybe the truth actually is that Lindsay Buckingham was a perfectionist and at times would belittle Stevie Nicks and she was anxious around him…which is why the last time they were going to get back together she gave the band an ultimatum ..it was Lindsay or her..Lindsay was not the choice
Why Lindsey wasn't on the last tour?
26 years after it was released and I still get chills from this performance.
ohwow..lol not that long ago.. im 30 >_< grew tf up on this shit though.. the fam used to have jam sessions and this was my moms fav song..so theyd always end upplaying it eventually
same. To date it is, in my opinion, the best live performance of all time.
First released in the 70s.
You didn't have to put it that way and make all of us feel way older, you know 😂❤
Same! Even teary eyed. So emotional!
I can swear that every time I watch this performance I can feel Stevie casting a spell on Lindsey while singing. 🖤 She’s marvelous! All of them were an amazing band! ✨
this is important to me. the most important thing to me is this. when i die, play this video, over and over again at my funeral. like some subway surfers gameplay to keep you entertained.
The fact that this performance is what inspired daisy Jones and the six makes me shiver every time
That’s so cool. I definitely see it haha
It still gives me shivers too 😢
And I’m 100% convinced Daisy’s line “And baby, when you think of me, I hope it ruins rock ‘n’ roll. Regret me, regretfully.”, was inspired by “You’ll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you.”
@@crazyqueen4006 is that song/phrase the same in the book and the series?
I’m in the middle of the book and haven’t been able to get this song out of my head.
Now I know why!!
it is a huge mistake that this song did not win the grammy for best performance by band or duo. This version is incredible. The voices are perfect. The shots of the three of them in a row singing the chorus is breathtaking.

@Jim Calzaretta I agree with you 100%! It is one of my favorite live performances of all time! Fantastic version! If you are an Annie Lennox fan, check out her live performance of the Beatles song "Fool on the Hill"....amazing!
@@stevecareskey6542 It wasn't on the original release of Rumours. It was the b-side of Go Your Own Way. Later it was included on re-issues of Rumours.

@@g8btonyThat song can take SEVERAL seats... especially to this masterpiece.
Timeless performance. Stevie is obviously greatness personified in this song and video, but I think Lindsey not breaking eye contact and embracing the moment is understated. So much history in those looks
I agree 💯. He didn't look away and took it like a champ.
@@vickiebridge7961big time! I think both of them had enough history playing these songs with each other at this point that maybe the bulk of the pain has subsided, but you couldn’t tell by the looks they were giving each other here, decades later. Powerful from both sides
Mick always looks like he’s having the time of his life on the drums. Just vibing back there
Always all by his self.
I totally agree. He's doing his own thing yet jamming with his band :)
Looks like a jolly old pirate
He’s just glad that Stevie isn’t locking the death stare in on him while she’s singing. 😆
Because, he IS...
Can we take a moment to acknowledge the point towards the end where the late, great Christine McVie resolves the final chords of the song with a look on her face that seems to say "What in holy f-ck just happened here on this day?" Absolutely iconic.
And also possibly because she got the lyrics mixed up in the chorus near the end.
Yes! I thought the same thing. The look on Christine's face speaks volumes. Her expression looks to me like she is definitely acknowledging the lingering tension and feelings still evident between Stevie and Lindsey.
@@jenniferclem2320go look at other live versions of this song years prior to this and in years since. They’ve always done the same performance, waiting until the very end to both turn toward each other and sing it intensely to one another. Christie may feel like there is tension because there was and still is today, but she wasn’t floored by what she saw with that performance because they have done the exact same thing every single time. This isn’t a spontaneous display of Stevie turning toward him and singing it right at him like a laser beam, it has been performed like this from the beginning.
Actually I think Christie was pretty used to them and their lingering love for one another. Stevie shows genuine emotion in this video, I love this version
@@danielhova7826this was actually the first one!
If they didn't go through it all, we probably wouldn't have this bit of perfection right here.....
