Friggin' enchanting. Not a whiny or stalker-ish breakup song, but simply stating, "dude, you will never have better". She's the queen.
and he's the king
yes he is @@mattpatrick6674
@@mattpatrick6674 yeah, he's the king alright. of crap.
We don't know what happened between them, do we? It is surely a powerful song from a powerful couple! @MississippiKitten
Girl Boss, you've missed the point.
The most intense moment in music history.
It truly is
At last the truth is revealed to the world Lynsey Caroline Riley killed the love 💝 that Stevie and Lindsay with her sick meddling in other peoples lives she was responsible for all their pain persecution of Lindsay for his very name and her hatred of a bewitching woman Stevie
They've both long moved on. It's theatre. 🤣
have you ever truly loved someone? There is no 'moving on.' Just moving away.
@Purseonality This is theatre. They performed this drama at every show and city night after night. If you really think this was spontaneous and a 1 off you're a fool. And Yes I have truly loved and I have absolutely moved on.
“Was I just a fooool?” as she’s walking towards him… so much emotion and so honest. I can’t look away.
Soo true😅
Still cry every time I watch it, 😢
It's SOOO heavy, gives me chills and a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes every single time. Towards the end, we see Lindsey Buckingham turn his back on the crowd and walk into the darkness of the rear-stage; I can't help but wonder if he had tears in his eyes too, and needed to get the F*CK out of view for a minute to regain his composure. 😞
Lindsey has true 'fear ' in his eyes during this song, & watching Christine watching Stevie head towards Lindsey she is like, ' oh my God Stevie's gonna shred Lindsey for betraying her', Christine is playing like a dirge and honestly , Stevie's singing is better when she is very angry, go take a listen to 'Smile at You ' angry version, Stevie is the songwriter, songstress, singer , lead singer, I give her much credit for the success of Fleetwod Mac, she well deserves it.
The song is about her tumultuous relationship with Lindsey Buckingham and she pours her heart out while singing directly to him! Brilliant Performance
The best version of this song ever. The glare from across the stage, the gentle instrumentals in contrast of Stevie's proud and powerful voice. Truly incredible. No one will ever do it like Stevie does.
Is there a studio version?
I think because of their history, it would be beautiful if this were the only version, I dont think a studio could or would do it justice! 💜 🎶
Total theatre. Still a great song
Stevie is the greatest singer of all times @@tazmanianchic9425
SO WELL SAID!
❤
Stevie Nicks deadass locking eyes with Buckingham for a solid minute while singing is possibly the best power move in music history. "You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you" indeed.
I love this so much! The last "never get away" was so powerful and eerie.
A quote to remember ❤
It’s INTENSE.🔥 His face 😂
Pretty sure the lyrics are " from a woman that loved you "
She sounds great
None of us will ever be as excited as Mick Fleetwood playing the drums.

Yeah idk about that. It’s called a little thing called cocaine.
All that drama going on in the front and my mans was on the drums like 😋😄😊😀
I love watching the joy and intensity as he plays! Such a talented man, one of the best drummers ever. 🙌🏼
i absolutely adore how the drummer is living his dream amidst the chaos ensuing in front of him
Less than 2 years before this he and FM were playing 2nd billed at county fairs minus Buckingham, Nicks and McVie. You bet he has tears in his eyes - all that beautiful music and money was back.

True story
I SWEAR, it’s spellbinding 😉
With Fleetwood Mac you always got treated to a live version of a soap opera with the rest of the show. That stare was intense.
Christine's side eye glances at them, too! She knows EVERYTHING.
It was a living soap opera.
Rest in peace beautiful lady! They will play this long (100 years) after you are gone!

Girl Power in that moment
Easily one of the best performances in music history.
I’m so obsessed with this. The way they keep looking at each other at different times and then once they lock eyes they don’t look away for the rest of the song. It’s INCREDIBLE.
Exactly!!!
Takes me back to 18 I loved Elaine Haines. I still do today
Me too...I've listened to it like 10,000 times
Those were the days. I would willingly trade 100 days of life in these times for just one day of life in those days.
They absolutely loved each other
I love how everyone is so pissed at each other and then you get mick fleetwood like “I fucking LOVE drumming 😄🥰🥰”
😅
Facts!! 😂
You missed it! It’s not about being pissed at each other, it’s pain, love, and memories that makes the incredible music they share with everyone ✌️
I liked how John just kept his head down. He wanted no part of it.
Every cut away to Mick makes it look like he’s surprised at what he’s about to play.
Dude THAT look between them is unreal. Gives me chills every time
I noticed that also. It's haunting.
Seriously, the magnetism almost draws you out of your chair!
Same for me. It’s like They are speaking to each other as they sing. It’s amazing. I wish their love song could have been a happy one. She loved him so much.
Some REAL vibes going on between them

But in September I got somethign like "Top 5% most Fleetwood Mac viewing in September" badge. I replayed THIS and also Stevie singing Edge of Seventeen live and the band is playing accompaniment, backup singers going on and on about the night bird, and Stevie collecting flowers and gifts. lol I am obsessed.
its actually november 21
This dynamic is incredible. She's absolutely calling him out even after all these years. He takes it. He absolutely let's her nail him with her lyrics. He stares straight back at her and there's SO many unsaid things that pass between them. She walks towards him and he leans forward to encourage her. He knows it's her therapy and he fully supports her and it's an awesome effect. Equal parts sorrow, ferocity, love, respect...
He kinda got her back with Go Your Own Way but THIS SONG IS BURN THE HOUSE DOWN F’YOU FIRE 🔥
This was exactly my read. Its like they are screaming through the music, the vocals and the guitar. Stevie as said similar.
Thank you for this take.
You feel this in your heart😢
That was absolutely, beautifully put.
Obviously Stevie is the gem here. This is her moment. But the way Buckingham stays locked in. The eye contact. Unflinchingly takes on everything she's giving. Gives an absolutely heart wrenching solo and supports her through the song to the very end. Breathtaking.
I couldn't agree more...unless you pulled a Stevie and willed it out of me.

What can I say? The story behind this track and how it was shelved for years is just absolute magic. I can watch this 100 times and each time I'm completely transfixed.
can you imagine making the decision to put this song on as a -side?! crazy.
I’m glad they vetoed it. If they hadn’t she might not have gotten frustrated and made Bella Donna (and the subsequent solo albums) - I prefer her solo stuff but I do love her songs with FM.

Definitely top 5 best albums of all time in my opinion.
What's the tea? I don't know anything about their private lives
@@helenarichardLindsey and Stevie were initially a duo putting out records, while also being lovers. Fleetwood Mac wanted Lindsey to join their band, but didn’t want Stevie. Lindsey stood firm and said they were a package deal. Fast forward a few years and while their relationship was rocky, Stevie ran into the arms of the drummer, Mick Fleetwood, cheating on Lindsey with one of his best friends. And that caused the band to either crumble or pour all of that pain and hell into their work. Couple that with the dissolving of the relationship between Christine and John McVie in the band, the result was Rumours, which is one of the greatest, and most heartbreaking, albums ever made.
Christine so sedate and calm, Mick in his own drummer world, Stevie laying into Lindsey like a QUEEN, the cinematography, Stevie's ethereal beauty. This is a masterpiece, start to finish.

There's a live performance of The Chain in LA that is arguably more intense and emotional. Everyone is mad and there's most likely cocaine involved and it's mega intense.
@@davidcochran113 I totally agree. Both amazing, amazing performances but this feels more like Lindsay pulling the raw emotion out of Stevie and letting her use him as a punching bag. The Chain is all of the Cocaine hitting Lindsay at once, fueled by an arguement they just had before walking on stage and Stevie staring at him like, "what the fuck you doing on this day boy!?!"
The time frame between the two performances probably plays a lot into it as well. This performance is like a hurt that will never heal, but the Chain is like an open, oozing, bleeding wound.

No doubt about it/
Forever undeniable chemistry. You can't make it or produce it or bottle it... and no matter how many years apart, Stevie and Lindsey's chemistry is still smoldering white hot. When they stared at each other with those incredible lyrics and their on and off relationship history... wow. Gotta be one of the greatest moments of a live performance.
That chemistry is what has always stood out to me, knowing the context of their relationship, when this song was written, where they were in their lives during this performance, etc - it's not as cut-and-dried as a spurned woman cursing her ex-lover, it's part of a decades long musical dialogue between the two of them. Just as much as she's left her imprint on him, he's left his imprint on her. They'll never be able to get away from *each other*. Go watch their performance of Landslide on the Letterman show from a year after this. She comes up and rests her head on his shoulder while he's playing the solo. It's a moment of tender affection between two people whose relationship has inspired dozens of incredible songs, but is also much deeper and more complicated than most people realize
Except for the live version of The Chain.

@@Lenyxx3 - I'm guessing, after the show... Lindsey bought his wife a dozen roses and went home and gave them to his wife and apologized for the affair he basically just had on stage with Stevie though he was fully clothed and did not touch her... some sort of mental adultery just happened.
I saw her Feb 2024 in New Orleans and she still rocks like she’s 25 and she’s 75 years old. She played a tribute to Christy Mcvie 🥰very respectfully…
“i know i could have loved you but you will not let me” and then the glance over at him. shew. such a fleeting, private moment
Intense chills seeing that... she's casting a spell & he knew it 😅
That song is almost 50 years old. That line resonates with every woman over the age of 21. We all had that one that wouldn't let us live them.
The emphasis she puts on "never get away" at exactly 5:00-5:07...imagine singing this and remembering all of the hurt, the anger, all of those unanswered questions...all of it just flooding back while singing this song to him on stage, AND in front of a live audience.
@@davidderitis9068 This was 30 years after knowing her - he was used to the drama - probably a lot more than this. They spent years singing and wailing at each on stage after they broke up. He's also leaning into it and helping to pull it out of her in his role as musical director and producer. This was the 3rd day of recording and Stevie said she wasn't completely happy with the previous performances.
She dumped him!
I think that’s what makes this song so great. Finally ! She gets her roses all them years after.
Those feels are what makes it so real, raw, and just an electrifying performance.
"You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you." And he never did.
Great work 😊 by giving him dagger eyes 👀 looking into his soul and singing... you will never get away with the sound of my voice. My voice will haunt you! Every woman in the world would love to be singing that to their X. Lol 🤣 Go Nicks!
You gotta respect their dedication to the band, NO ONE else would have a dramatic painful breakup but keep making music together
No give it to Stevie, let’s be real, men largely faced little consequences for cheating prior to women’s liberation because majority women had to tolerate shit treatment from men in order to survive. If a woman were to leave a cheating husband would only result in negative consequences for her.
he cheated on her despite knowing what a shitty of a position that would put her in, but knowing if anyone would leave the band as a result it would be her. Ie if “she couldn’t handle it”, but out of talent and spite she stood by and wrote these fucking amazing songs so he would face consequences for his actions.
@@eatingketchupchips9567 according to stevie, it was her who cheated. He was controling, she used that to justify her cheating. Probably the fact that she was so coked out was a contributing factor.
@@eatingketchupchips9567 you do make a good point but Stevie literally admitted to cheating on lindsey lol
If you know anything of the history of this band (Stevie and Lindsey in particular), the tension and intensity in this performance is simply electric. Rock history being made here.
Didn’t she break up with him?
The way I understand it, she is the one who has treated him badly. Had him thrown out of the band, even though he is the one who got HER in it.
@@Val-we3kk You’re correct. I’ve edited my comment.
@@lisalu910 You’re correct. I’ve edited my comment.
@@lisalu910 he physcially ab*sed her countless times during their relationship. She did what she had to do. Theirs even videos of Christine mcvie talking about the damage he did to Stevie its all documented even the album cover to buckingham nicks! She didn't want to do it but Lindsey forced her
Folks dont realize how musically tight this performance is, amazing especially live.
Trust me, they do.
i do x infinity
...rip christine
Amazing the kinds of things you can accomplish when fueled by spite.
Holy smokes; that song/performance is frickin’ bad ass! They haven’t made bands like this for a long time, unfortunately. Today’s music just straight-up sucks compared to this. Truly awesome.
You can tell she waited 20 years to get recognition for this song. Another classic from the goddess of rock and roll, just stunning!
It was a wallop-I-never-thought-it-would-ever-happen when it came out in 1997. I literally fell to my knees sobbing the first time I saw this on MTV.
yeah it's a crime against humanity that this was left off of Rumors.
@@podunkest that's how great an album Rumours was. That a song this good got bumped. I think it made the B side of go your own way. Imho it's one of her best songs and should have made the cut
@@jackd6113 you're correct about the B-Side and yeah it was eventually added to later copies once CDs became popular.
@@podunkest Yep, iirc it was right before The Chain on some CDs, but then was standardized as being the final track since the 2004 remaster.
In my opinion, as much of a phenomenal album Rumours is, this song would've been the absolute masterpiece of it, had it made the original tracklist. Gives me chills every time
Stevie and Lindsay staring each other down from 4:25 on "you'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you" this is the DRAMA today's music refuses to bring lol
Jess oklaroots
* the woman who LOVED you … lol past tense he fucked up
She's singing it to him, looking right at him like a savage. But to his credit, he's taking it like a man and staring right back at her.
They are soulmates, and musical soulmates. They will love each other forever.
Exactly that's the fuck up
I'm a grown ass man, and this performance makes me cry everytime I watch it. You can see and hear the pain in her voice. Its haunting. Best live performance ever, so meaningful.
Same get teary eyed but think of song of in other ways.... people and pets who've passed with the "Time cast a spell on you but you won't forget me."
@@Jbobloochjr3 that's a nice tribute to lost loved ones.
I'm also a grown ass man that cries everytime I watch this video.
It’s the look in his eyes. What audience?! There were two people in that room.
If only more grown ass men would cry listening this - that's when you know your parents did good. Respect to you brother.. your parents did a good job.
Thier blend on the chorus is absolutely sublime. There are not enough adjectives.....just perfect.
My favorite part is the absolute tension and hate in this song with Stevie and Lindsey. Cut to my guy just having the best day ever on the drums haha
I know. I saw that. It was very intense emotionally. It actually gave me the chills it was so emotionally intense. She really sang frpm her heart during this song. Jesus!! I still have goosebumps.
Mick always looks like he's just getting the punchline of a really bad DAD joke from 40 minutes ago or he's getting to the silliest part of a scary children's story... those faces he makes crack me up 😃😃
Hate?????? Oh no.
@@bluesoddity2094 dude for real he was exploring the solar system with his drumsticks hahaha
@@seanheany444 LOL, well said yeah!!! 😂🤣😂🤣
OMG…When she sings “You will NEVER get away…NEVER get away…” Incredible.
Ohh he can't they grew up together, never gonna go away.
Like a curse!
@@johncrawford3201 Blessing of course it comes with a price.✌️🙏💯
Hitting the notes with true perfection at that!!!
It’s 2020, I’m 75 years old, and I still watch this video at least once a week. If I were ever condemned to isolation and could take only one music video with me, this would be the one. The song, the presentation, the camera work, the emotional intensity, it’s all just...perfect.
Well said Larry. Well said...
I totally agree
Maybe the whole concert
This comment aged well, given COVID lockdowns...
I started listening to Fleetwood Mac when they first came out. I've seen them 4 times in concert and it's good music for the soul.
Such an insanely talented group of musicians. And those vocal harmonies... ❤
Mick has obviously found his bliss in a drum kit. Everyone on the planet should experience that kind of joy and passion at least once in their life
Music Without out a drum dose not penatrate ones hart therefore it's just words your hearing your not feeling it in the depths of one's soul.
Like someone who you've caught lying to you over and over you believe nothing they say. It's just empty words
why did this comment make me cry so profound
And Lindsey's looking right back at her, never breaking eye contact. Powerful.
Extremely
He knows she's singing to him
She wrote it for him
"She's hurt and pissed... still." 😔
He must have really done something no one sings looks him and screams screw you watch me the Queen play with my royal gesture make a fool of him so politly and makes.him play guitar while she is neutering him on stage it's why she is the queen 👑 that's rock n roll
I can never stop watching/listening to this version. The way she was casually looking at him throughout the beginning of the song to see if he’d look at her.. and then once he did he couldn’t look away. The fact that it feels like some dramatic movie moment or something.. every word she sang she sang it with such conviction. Like time may change us but B*TCH you’ll NEVER forget me. And him just singing her words back to her and not breaking eye contact until she turns away. UGH.
i hope they make a movie based on their love story!
Me too

Rehearsed. Sorry. $
5:01 Stevie singing "you'll never get away, never get away" like a curse. The power, the emotion, the eye contact. Gosh 🔥🔥🔥
That last bit is so intense. The history, the depth of feeling, the loss of love, the heartbreak and anger. So much between those two and so much to see in that performance.
It's because he was possessive as fuck and treated her like complete shit. He tried to humiliate her every chance he got.
God I love this performance. Stevie looks like she’s going to shoot fire out of her eyes and Lindsey has that look of guilt on his face. I can’t even count how many times I have watched this video. Pure, authenticity right here. There will never be anyone who comes even close to Stevie’s talent, style, and raw emotion.
Exceptionally well said!!!!!
"SARAH SMILE"(HALL & OATES MEGA HIT); YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL INSIGHT & WAY OF EXPRESSING YOUR THOUGHTS> AT TIMES< I STRIVE TO DO LIKEWISE> SOME HOW< OTHER TIMES< THE WORDS JUST FLOW>" KEEP ON TRUCKING"(GREATFUL DEAD MEGA HIT).
The dirty look she gives him as he walks away lol
The intensity of that gaze was so powerful, especially considering that their break-up was over twenty years earlier. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
I am so happy to know that I am not alone in this feeling
The eye contact already had me on the floor but when she took those steps towards him as well… this video has my life spiralling
Notice he walks away from the stage, out of respect, at the end? Plus, the look of concern McVie gives at the end. She's seen it all and showing her support for her best friend.
Lololol me too!!
it's not a performance it's REVENGE✨ Nothing compares to this masterpiece...
I begin not to love you, turn around see me running…
Mick always looks like he’s having the time of his life on the drums. Just vibing back there
Always all by his self.
I totally agree. He's doing his own thing yet jamming with his band :)
Looks like a jolly old pirate
He’s just glad that Stevie isn’t locking the death stare in on him while she’s singing. 😆
Because, he IS...
Love doesn't disappear regardless of the world and years passing. The look on both of their faces, in their eyes and in her voice it shows. When she drops her head at the end of the song says it all.
My ex fiance and myself have been separated now for 13 years
And yet this song brings it right back to 13 years ago. Like these two - we still hold a bond but just can't be together. Its heart wrenching and as you say true love dosent disappear
As Joshua Kaddison sang "We won't day goodbye, because true love never dies"
Way true
Exactly! It's something they both experienced -in a way the loss of love is bonding. So many people drag Lindsey, but only they lived it. There doesn't always have to be a bad guy at the end of a relationship. Sometimes the roads traveled pull folks in different directions.
Holy shit, how tense was that last minute. Nothing like a dysfunctional relationship; makes for the best songs.
It does seem tense but keep in mind that they always look intensely at each other like that when they're harmonizing.
Gave me chills. That last 1.5 minutes told quite a story. Love it 😍
True! Bad romances produces the best art imo
Yadurp. 1997.
Nobody knows what happens in someone else's relationship, but her love and passion is so heartbreaking, so intense, so true how and why did he not just stop playing, take her in his arms and tell her he loved her truly and always would.
I've never known love, and it's too late for me, but seeing such truth squandered breaks my heart all over again.
I hope they're both truly happy today, 21st November 2024, wherever they are❤
I literally cannot watch this without becoming overwhelmed with emotion and crying like a baby every time
Yes it hits me like a brick of emotion and i cant help but to cry.
