I'm 99% convinced that he is a case of undiagnosed adult ASD. A lot of ASD cases in adults are mistaken for depression or anxiety disorders. It will make him a lot of good to start learning about autism in adults and coping mechanisms or reaching asd adult communities, could literally save his life and make it worth living. Is very common in undiagnosed adult asd cases to reach severe states of depression. He is not mentally ill, he is literally just different and need some strategies and coping mechanisms to integrate himself in "normie" society.

I'm 23 and in the same camp. I'm physically handicapped and have been insecure about it my whole life. On top of that I have struggled with depression and ideas of suicide since I was 14. The last 3 years, after I left university early I have been sitting on my ass playing video games. I barely see my friends anymore, they don't really feel much like friends at all. Life sucks. I’m kind of in a similar situation but the opposite. I used to go to the gym and was in pretty great shape. I just started developing medical issues with my man parts unfortunately and it’s taken me out of gym for the most part and I have too much anxiety and pain related to it to go after a girl again. It’s been depressing as fuck and I don’t even know if my problems can be cured. Hopefully we all figure our lives out eventually.

Honestly I wish people didn't find this sort of stuff embarrassing. It's more common than we think for people in their lates 20s, 30s, so on to just not have any form of intimate connection simply because of factors out of their control. Anything from social anxiety, certain disabilities, or just living in a place that doesn't have many people is what often stops others from finding love or connecting with a social circle. This especially seemed to have increased due to Covid and the internet era, where we've been so isolated and don't know what to do. Stay strong man, don't feel ashamed.
The main reason for the large number of sexless men today is the extremely high standards modern women in the west have nowadays, which is caused by dating apps and social media. The huge amount of attention women get from guys on there inflates there perceived value and makes them pick only the top 10-20% of men. This is a huge problem, because without intimacy men become miserable and angry, they won't do any work anymore which is what kept our society functioning. So that will probably lead to a collapse of society, therefore this shouldn't be normalized. It's just really about shame, men crave sex and intimate relationships and feel miserable if they can't get that, regardless of what society thinks about that.

Sex is not a fundamental part of a man's happiness and that is why we need to normalize letting men know that it's not necessary to seek it. As a matter of fact, normalizing that men need sex leads to even greater problems- rape, objectification, incels, bad etiquette, etc. The reason many men struggle to find romantic partners can be for the following: religion, social anxiety, isolation, working too much, living in a small town, and the list goes on. Men need love, men need support, men need to know compassion and empathy and most importantly, we need to know that our life has other factors that can contribute to our happiness. 31 here and and deciding to stay single. Back when I was 27 I still had hopes to eventually find a girlfriend, a possible marriage, maybe a kid, and even met someone I thought was it. I was totally able to picture a future with them but things just never happened. After that I lost total interest in the idea of a relationship. I’m not affectionate, expressive, or romantic and struggle with mental health so I’d probably be a crappy boyfriend anyway. I don’t think it’s anything to be ashamed or feel bad about.

I may be the only extrovert on this post, but I'd like to say that you seem like a really awesome, genuine dude. So cool that you are willing to be this transparent. Yes, there are a lot of selfish, self-centered idiots out there, but there are also a lot of genuine, compassionate and kind people, too.
It's funny because I feel like I used to be a full on introvert, and talked to more people. Then after growing up and losing almost all my friends, I feel more extroverted; not that I felt fully confident to full on talk to whomever I felt desire towards. However now I feel more rejected by people. Not just for potential dates or friends, but just people are stale and dry, and I cannot cast that color onto their grey life. I don't know whether or not the pandemic to blame for this, but we have such a disconnect from one part of society to the other compared to back then where it seemed like all of us are conscious of our surroundings doing whatever to get around peacefully. Either everyone doesn't care, or there is a variety of people that are alone that'll do anything to have a purpose, but cannot find that spark for that first reason that nobody cares. Is it just me being secretly introverted to this very day but from my perspective comes out as extroverted? Is it something I say or do that people are quickly drawn away? I try to copy methods that work for other people, but people in general are selective over the smallest details that automatically disqualify you apart from them. I've went back so many times and tried to re-assess and I cannot seem to find where I went wrong. Maybe I should change locations, maybe find a new hobby, see what's trending, so on so forth. So far I've felt rather unlucky to find the right type of people that are open to meeting new people. I will never give up, but I wish more would also put in the same amount of effort I try to actually get something going rather than shoot ourselves in the foot each and every time.

I'm 23 and in the same camp. I'm physically handicapped and have been insecure about it my whole life. On top of that I have struggled with depression and ideas of suicide since I was 14. The last 3 years, after I left university early I have been sitting on my ass playing video games. I barely see my friends anymore, they don't really feel much like friends at all. Life sucks. I’m kind of in a similar situation but the opposite. I used to go to the gym and was in pretty great shape. I just started developing medical issues with my man parts unfortunately and it’s taken me out of gym for the most part and I have too much anxiety and pain related to it to go after a girl again. It’s been depressing as fuck and I don’t even know if my problems can be cured. Hopefully we all figure our lives out eventually.

Honestly I wish people didn't find this sort of stuff embarrassing. It's more common than we think for people in their lates 20s, 30s, so on to just not have any form of intimate connection simply because of factors out of their control. Anything from social anxiety, certain disabilities, or just living in a place that doesn't have many people is what often stops others from finding love or connecting with a social circle. This especially seemed to have increased due to Covid and the internet era, where we've been so isolated and don't know what to do. Stay strong man, don't feel ashamed.

The huge amount of attention women get from guys on there inflates there perceived value and makes them pick only the top 10-20% of men. So that will probably lead to a collapse of society, therefore this shouldn't be normalized. It's just really about shame, men crave sex and intimate relationships and feel miserable if they can't get that, regardless of what society thinks about that.

Men need love, men need support, men need to know compassion and empathy and most importantly, we need to know that our life has other factors that can contribute to our happiness. 31 here and and deciding to stay single. Back when I was 27 I still had hopes to eventually find a girlfriend, a possible marriage, maybe a kid, and even met someone I thought was it. I was totally able to picture a future with them but things just never happened. After that I lost total interest in the idea of a relationship. I’m not affectionate, expressive, or romantic and struggle with mental health so I’d probably be a crappy boyfriend anyway. I don’t think it’s anything to be ashamed or feel bad about.

I understand how you feel. For me, my worthless and bulls**t parents contributed to my problems. Emotional neglect, isolation from the world, distance from everyone, no family, etc. A horrible childhood can certainly create a challenging adulthood.

It's funny because I feel like I used to be a full on introvert, and talked to more people. Then after growing up and losing almost all my friends, I feel more extroverted; not that I felt fully confident to full on talk to whomever I felt desire towards. However now I feel more rejected by people. Not just for potential dates or friends, but just people are stale and dry, and I cannot cast that color onto their grey life. I don't know whether or not the pandemic to blame for this, but we have such a disconnect from one part of society to the other compared to back then where it seemed like all of us are conscious of our surroundings doing whatever to get around peacefully. Either everyone doesn't care, or there is a variety of people that are alone that'll do anything to have a purpose, but cannot find that spark for that first reason that nobody cares. Is it just me being secretly introverted to this very day but from my perspective comes out as extroverted? Is it something I say or do that people are quickly drawn away? I try to copy methods that work for other people, but people in general are selective over the smallest details that automatically disqualify you apart from them. I've went back so many times and tried to re-assess and I cannot seem to find where I went wrong. Maybe I should change locations, maybe find a new hobby, see what's trending, so on so forth. So far I've felt rather unlucky to find the right type of people that are open to meeting new people. I will never give up, but I wish more would also put in the same amount of effort I try to actually get something going rather than shoot ourselves in the foot each and every time.
