I'm 63 years old. I've scanned the comments and am saddened but not surprised to see so many young people hurting. I'm here with some words of hope and, if you can stand it, some words of advice that you are free to read or disregard.
First the hope: I want to let you know that I was unable to find a real lasting career until I was 40. You're still young. It can still happen for you.
Now the advice: Shut off the noise that might be getting in the way of understanding what you want. We are bombarded with noise and messages all day and all night long. Take technology breaks. Spend some time each day in silence. Spend some time each day outside. A long walk (without earbuds, without phone-in hand at least) can really free your mind to do some serious thinking. You are also better plugged-in to your surroundings. It's important to notice that good dog, that smiling toddler, that squirrel running up a tree. Life is taking place and you must notice and take part.
I know it's stuff you've all heard before, but I've found it helpful. Maybe you would too. Now, you can say, "Okay, Boomer," and get on with your day.

We've all heard this stuff before, agreed but what we do is forget it and are in need of these kinds of reminder all the time with all the distractions floating around in the world, and I'D FIGHT ANY LOSER WHO'D CALL YOU A BOOMER, becuz strangely enough u feel like a granny I've never had.

If you put effort into exploring what's available to you - college gives you a bunch of opportunities to develop your interests / have more knowledge to inspire your creative process, make friends you wouldn't have met otherwise, and possibly connect with creative people that can help you get job opportunities - so I gotta disagree with your comment. But, I think there's truth to your core idea, since a lot of people drop out or don't go to college in the first place because they're focused, sure of their plan for the future, and passionate in terms of their creative career.
Yes, I agree with this. Plus the "creative career" industry is usually taken up with young adults who can afford to work either for free or at an extremely low salary. Their parents are usually wealthy. This isn't discussed enough so there are tons of people like this woman making the video hoping to get jobs in an already saturated industry.
@@MartinK-sr1vm This is all true. If you have the money, college can be great. However, try to start a creative career with low (or no) pay and $100k+ in debt. It doesn't work. I quickly realized I couldn't be making near minimum wage or "interning" for free in entry level production positions and make ends meet. My loans came due, and I had to get more consistent PAID work. If I didn't have that debt, I could have made it work.

Social media has a way of making you feel "left behind" or stuck, like your living a mediocre life, like everyone is living their best life, is graduating, has their dream career except you, and creating this desire to be exceptional. Leading to frustration, discontent and a dissatisfied life. I am grateful I have the low income job I have, and for the big part, I enjoy it, a place to stay, a roof over my head, food to eat, family and friends, and working towards being debt free. I am truly grateful

@@hazeld8016 Men wanted women to vote. It wasn't until they promised we wouldnt be drafted that we wanted to vote and wanted the bill passed. They wanted women to vote so they had more people they could sway one way or another. Its actually pretty interesting once you start reading all about it. I'm an egalitarian and found it interesting.
Will be turning 35 in a few months. I've had so many dead end low paid jobs in the last 10yrs. Completely unaware of the direction in life I was going. Ended 2 close friendships so literally had nobody. Never travelled anywhere. Depression & isolation was killing me. In the last 2yrs I improved my diet, started walking more, went back to school doing evening classes, found a job I enjoy with opportunities to grow, travelled to 2 countries in Europe, improved my credit score, used Bumble BFF and amazingly made 3 close friendships where I go out for meals & events. Looking back the transformation is incredible. I feel so much better. My tip is to be patient as small incremental progress compound over time. Your journey is unique and record your achievements. There will be days where you might doubt yourself, so its important to recall actual concrete evidence of progress. I'm actually looking forward to my 40s : )

Thank you for sharing, you just reminded me that I need to go take a walk and go grocery shopping for some healthy food. I’m 36 and my life will always require a reminder to consistently practice good habits, think positively and practice gratitude, and set new goals on a regular basis. It is easier to maintain happiness and good habits than it is to pull yourself out of the spiraling slump.

I wanted to get married at 25 and kids by 27, own a house with an good paying job. That was me picking an easy life at 20, thinking I didn't want to be ambitious, I didn't want millions of dollars. I just wanted a simple easy life and do my hobbies.
What really happened to me, never married, lots of heart breaks, tons of debt from school/consumer debt, living in apt with room mates and working in retail. No kids or husband. I am 35.
At 30 I realized the goals I put on myself would never happen. I accepted it. I understand many of us are in the same boat. Its not my fault.
Currently I am more ambitious then I have ever been in my entire life. I am going to manifest greatness. Back in school, my debt is lowest it has been in ten years, dating a wonderful person, own a cat and I take pride in me. I even survived cancer.

My mother was kicked out of her PhD program, then got married at the age of 40 and gave birth to me at the age of 45, two months away from 46! Her wisdom helped me greatly! There's plenty of time for things.

Wow that is such a powerful reminder that everything moves in divine time. My Mom had her last kid in her late 30s and me in her early 20s and we got raised by TWO different women, my Mom was much more calm and equipped for kids as she aged.

How’d you come to this conclusion on a person that you don’t know and never met 💀 wtf
I’m 37 and I was in the same boat as you at 33 and here’s what I did to turn that around:
1. I went back to school (law school). You don’t need to go to law school, even if you just complete a certificate program on Udemy, learning is always a good idea.
2. I joined a sorority through the graduate chapter. This surrounded me around positive women, community events and activities.
3. I started volunteering and joined local organizations like the Urban League, Junior League, Young Professionals, etc.
4. I started taking my job more seriously. Even if it wasn’t my “passion” or a job I loved, I challenged myself to be the best at whatever I was doing. This gave me purpose everyday.
5. I started a gratitude journal. Everyday, I listed everything I was grateful for that day and why. No negativity, only gratitude.
6. I gave myself a daily self-care and skin care routine.
7. I changed my diet and took working out more seriously. Even if it was just walking on the treadmill for 30 mins, I committed myself to doing something active everyday.
8. I started to attend galas that supported causes and issues that I cared about.
9. Planned at least two trips per year and went out with friends at least once per month, at minimum.
10. Got a therapist on BetterHelp
Purpose is thinking bigger than yourself. Giving back to the community can be just as impactful and important. People need to realize that goals do not need to be big and lofty. Sometimes they are just accomplishing small tasks that you complete throughout the day. You have to give yourself credit for that. I feel like people go wrong when they compare themselves too much to others or they try to follow some idea about what they should be doing at their age. Your life’s path is unique and it should be treated as such. Although I have a child now, single and childless women NEED to understand that having a man and children should not be the only things that give you purpose in life. Marriage and motherhood are A LOT more stressful and burdensome than people tell you it is and it will not give you value and purpose if you don’t already have it. I think I’m a good mother now because I built myself into a good woman before I had my child. I had purpose before I became a mother. I do not recommend women having children and getting married before they curate a fulfilling life for themselves.

Number 8 I guess if you're not an introvert like me. Number 10 I'm not sure about. I've heard some very bad reviews on BH to be honest. Maybe just find a local therapist or use the journal to write about your troubles for free

That's right, I am 42. Living with a boyfriend who just yesterday became an ex boyf after I exploded at him while eating magic mushrooms basically I just td him. Same at 40, it's not exactly the money or certain lifestyle that puts the most pressure on me but the expectation, people not treating you as a human being with dignity if you don't have money and stellar carear own expensive cars, societies standard to treat you with dignity is only through how much money and goods you have, even the poorest of people treats you like garbage because you are not rich there is nothing they can extract from you expect from you financially so they have no reason to treat you with respect, then comes the total alienation from society even family because they are not different from wider society at all, I stopped going out, I have no motivation whatsoever to succeed, all success means is to impress other people I don't even like, so I just sink deeper and deeper because there is no motivation. When I look at society ppl draw their motivation from extreme hatred of humanity and to prove people they don't like that they are superior than them and have the chance to oppress other people be a top dog. I've never able to adopt this mind set. I wouldn't mind to be poor, but society is such that if you don't go with their norms they try to obliterate you.

I’m 25 with no job, no direction, depressed. It sucks so much getting rejection emails everyday. But i will never give up. Never! A lot of older folks that I spoke to told me that it’s actually pretty common for people to feel this way, especially at my age. Hope is all I have, and I’ll continue to have hope.

Do the experiment, imagine your 50 or older and you were given the chance to go back to 25 and do it all over again, see your loved ones younger and healthier we are not here forever! Go out make friends take courses, work hard and enjoy your youth.
I’m in the same boat, 32 and I live with my parents but I’m happy. I have a good job at a surgery center and I keep in good shape. I’m single but I’m not stressing it. Nothing is guaranteed in this life just make the most of everyday and appreciate the little things. Your on the right track
Yep. What many people (even those with families of their own) will never admit is that the "direction" slump can happen at any point in your life. Even with marriage, kids, a set career path-- or none of those at all... The personal "slump" happened to my parents in their early 40's. I can imagine this happening to other people at different stages, too. Don't let the status quo fool you. Life happens and nothing is indeed set in stone. And that's just life. 🤷♀️

I'm 34 and on disability after a permanent goodbye attempt. My mental health has been my biggest struggle my entire life. I've never been talented or good at anything. Nothing comes easy to me. I'm a slow learner with a possible learning disability. I don't feel like I belong here. I can't even figure out what I want. My heart goes out to anyone who feels this way. It's a struggle to keep going sometimes but know you're not alone

I agree! A testimony here: I'm back working in my field in culinary and going back to school. I also started putting limits on contact and also ended connections from those who trigger me.
Moral of the story: Resilience, fortitude, perseverance and stoicism is sooooo attainable compared to seeking value in "living a typical adult life" Even though your situation isn't ideal but remember the things you really like or always wanted to try. Sometimes even watching a cute cartoon, drinking a nice cup of coffee or tea, eating your favorite food while watching a favorite childhood movie, and painting your nails makes you feel giddy inside ❤️❤️ Praying and manifesting you get out your situation soon and embark on your rebirth journey! 30 year old in HR here (who just started making a living wage myself). My biggest piece of advice to literally anyone is to network. I know it sounds cliche, but it’s true. Even entry level positions can get hundreds of applications. Someone dropping your name sets you apart. We don’t break any rules to get someone an interview, they’ve still gotta be qualified, but it’s like having a little asterisk by your name. Use any connections that you have. Seriously. You seem like a lovely person. Get some folks to vouch for you.

At 29 I was lost, not enough pay my wife left me for a another dude, I took time to reinvent myself and work harder & smarter. Currently leading a good life, six figure + income, I have a gf that loves me. I travel the world and I will be 33 next month.

What is the point of being sad and depressed (as you seem to suggest) over something you cannot control? That is the real foolishness. We should learn to be content with our portion, that doesn't mean we don't want something different it's just where we are right now.
I'm a 17-year-old girl about to graduate from high school with a low GPA and absolutely no direction for the future. Honestly this comment section is really comforting. It's reassuring to know that you don't have to have your entire life figured out by 18, 20, 25, or even later to be successful. Many people have been in the same, or even worse, situations than mine and have still found peace. Thank you for making this video and being so open with the public.

Trust me, coming from a 20 year old about to transfer from college to university no matter which stage you are in life, we’re all just trying to find our way❤ the best you can do is take things at your pace. The whole world can wait, you have a lifetime to make new experiences. After all, life is what you make out of it
Please take some advice from a grandma...if you're not sure what you want to do in life (and that's okay!) and aren't academically inclined, don't be pushed into going straight into college if you can help it.
I was in that position almost 40 years ago. I had to go to college or else I would have been kicked out. I wasn't allowed to look into trade school - I was required to pursue a 4 year degree at minimum. I lasted about a year. I just wasn't college material. (I had learning difficulties that required intensive tutoring in high school just so I could pass certain classes.)I floundered a lot because I wasn't in a position to make plans for my life that fit me.
So please make your own plans for your life that are a good fit for you. Take a year and work if you're not sure. I wish I had been courageous enough to do that when I was your age.
Im turning 19 in less than 2 weeks and I still dont know where to go and what to do. It's eating me up inside. I have to be patient with myself and be kinder to myself. And you should too. We're still young. Don't pressure yourself too much because everyone's already pressuring you. All you can do to help yourself is to meditate and do positive talk instead of negative talk because you're unconscious self is listening to those negative thoughts and it'll never help you in any way but making you feel worse. Just live in the moment and be Patient. This is not everything in your life. Your life will be better soon. You'll have that job, you'll go to that college, you'll have that car, you'll have that peace. Love yourself for even waking up everyday. Thank yourself for taking care of your body everyday. You're trying and that's what's matters. Life is full of struggles. Everyone's struggling in their own way.

A low GPA too doesn’t mean less intelligence. There are so many other factors to go into it. It could also mean that you spent time putting your energy and efforts into other things that you enjoyed. I hated HS and wanted to get my GED and get the hell out of there, but my traditional family pushed me to go all 4 years. Not one employer has asked for or looked at my diploma. I’m smart and well off by working hard, but HS didn’t do shit for me. I didn’t mature either until my 20s. See if you can make money off your hobbies. Everything works out if you plan for it too.

There's a whole world out there, which is sometimes hard to see when you're in the thick of stress. Shockingly, your career may not be at all what you think it is. I’m 28 years old and still living with my parents.. I’ve never dated anyone and I graduated college with a useless major, thus I’m now working a remote job I really hate. Was dealing with pretty horrible health issues that held me back for about 6 years, now I’m in the process of restoring everything I lost. Some people appear to be extremely blessed at my age, while people like me seem to be “cursed.” I guess all we can do is keep grinding the best we can despite what life may throw at us

I'm 54 and really screwed financially and have struggled with depression my whole life, even in times of prosperity. It's terrifying to think about how on earth I'll be able to survive in retirement. The one thing that always brings me peace, if only for a while, is nature. Sit with some sunflower seeds and peanuts on your porch, in your yard, or in a park, and make friends with squirrels and birds. They will never let you down. I know a lot of people hate squirrels, but if you watch and interact with them long enough, you'll see that they're quite hilarious. Same with pigeons. (skip the bread for birds especially -- it's nutritionally inert for them) Also, the UA-cam/podcast channel HealthyGamerGG is great for depression and for problem-solving. It's slightly geared towards guys, but I'm a woman and get a lot out of it. He's a psychiatrist who nearly failed out of undergrad bc of his gaming addiction. Good luck to you and to all of us.

That was 2014, graduated 2013. I just got hired as a nurse again after 6 years of trying. I say all of that to say, yes people will doubt you. The worst thing you can do is doubt yourself. I am 32 years old. I’ve been looking for videos about this exact kind of experience because I’ve been so ashamed of being unemployed and directionless. So much of that content is by 20-something year olds, who have very valid perspectives! But there’s something about being 10 years out of college and still feeling aimless that hits differently. When you’re in your 20s, people still see potential in you. If you’re older, people are very judgey about how you’ve spent your time so far.
Yeah that's what happened to my husband, a year ago he tried to pivot into tech and wasted 1 year old his life, got all the certificates and training then no one hired him into any entry level tech job and we were told there are up to 400 applicants per job. I feel like companies are more likely to give the entry level role to some 23 year old fresh grad. Oh well, he had to give up and chalk it up as a wasted year and many wasted hours studying, since we don't live with parents and can't live like an eternal student forever

She took a year off the help open a business with her friend and then tried to get back into tech and applied to SO many jobs. Got a few interviews here and there but it took MONTHS to get one offer. I don't know if this will inspire or depress you. I'm living your life at 63! The only difference between us is 30 years, I've never been married, I don't wear glasses, and I have multiple cats. After a decade of dedication, I was fired from my job for basically being "too old". Now I'm contemplating starting over instead of retiring. I knew I should've moved on from that job but I became comfortable so they decided for me. A job search at my age is no joke. But, actually, I'm finally free to pursue something I really want to do. I focus on the positives in my life. I have health, friends, family, experience, ideas, interests, hobbies, cats, food, shelter and clothing. I'll be fine. I, too, was thinking of starting a YT channel. I'll take this video as a sign that I should move forward with this idea. Thanks very much for sharing!

I'm 39, I studied hard, have multiple diplomas in different matters because the economy was always changing and was trying to get my place in society. Never happened. I moved back to my home country, live in one of my parent's properties and I feel like I'm done with life by now. I'm tired of trying to get on the wagon and failing.

At 34, I left my dead end low paying career and had to move back with my parents. I was single, depressed and feeling hopeless. With the little money I had, I decided to do a little solo traveling. Changed my life. After coming back, I reconnected with someone who'd I dated very briefly in my early 20's. We're now married, 2 kids, own a home. I'm 41. Never give up on the life you want. But its necessary to get out of your comfort zone. I was able to build confidence while traveling, lost a bit of weight and started feeling hopeful again. The universe started to reward me with the energy I was putting out there. Put out into the universe what you want out of life!

I urge you to listen to Jordan Peterson talk about depression and anxiety and his 12 rules of life. There's plenty of his content here in youtube. For the past 6 years I have been in a pit, unable to even fold my laundry or make my bed. Just getting by and making sure my kids are surviving. But my god I was not living. Just surviving. This man's talks and lectures have pulled me out of that pit. My house has never been cleaner. I feel at peace for the first time. I have plans to return to college. I started the gym. All things that seems basically impossible to me the day before discovering this man.

I never imagined adulting to be like this and I’m 25. I think we are living in truly unpredictable strange and weird times. The whole world has changed in such a short amount of time compared to the 90s and early/mid 2000s and not in a good way. The attitude of humans have shifted from being free to being annoyed and beyond stressed out. People have become more violent and careless because the world is really rough right now. I tried doing business and it never got successful. I’m a 37 year old college graduate that used to make six figures. I did everything I thought was right to secure my future. Went to the military, got out and graduated college, bought a house, fancy car, and fast forward to now, I’ve been unemployed for the past 7 months. I’m right there with you. Once I pulled myself out of the depression and self loathing, I started to understand that I’ll never have anything more than a false sense of security if I continue working for someone else. I also understand now that despite my past accomplishments, the material things that I wasted money on didn’t fulfill me, and the jobs I worked to make “good money” didn’t fulfill me either. I encourage us all to find something that we care about, something that makes us feel like we are contributing something of value to the world, even if it is volunteering while unemployed. I encourage us to working on ourselves, keep learning, keep growing, but also giving ourselves grace and patience. Please don’t believe that your life is not valuable just bc some company HR dept head doesn’t see your value or potential! We will make it through this stronger, wiser, and more resilient. Don't beat yourself up about not getting those media opportunities when you were younger. It wasn't that you weren't goid enough, you simply didn't have the right connections. What people don't tell you when pursuing fields like visual media, arts, journalism, fashion, etc is that connections are everything in those fields especially when trying to get your foot in the door.

The idea that a child can plan their entire life ahead of them is one of the most toxic traits of modern society. You have a life, you're just in survival mode. As a fellow creative, my only advice is to carve your own path, don't rely on employers to fulfil your dreams. Fulfil your own dreams and build your own opportunities. The fact that your video picked up in the algorithm is a sign! Ride that wave.
I remember in middle school a huge assignment was planning every year of our life and when all the big events would happen (career, marriage, children, etc). I'm 25 now and it still gives me anxiety that I'm so far behind what my 12 year old self thought would happen. Ridiculous assignment and expectation on kids.

My advice would be to do anything that takes bravery to do. Just anything. You already know what can make you happy. For example if it’s art, simply practice it, build your experience and work your way from down to the top. Create a passion or a goal in life. Show your face where you normally wouldn’t and meet people that your personal path attracts towards you. Get another job if you need to, that job isn’t the only thing on the planet. You could get a job on a cruise ship and survive. You could work at a cinema and survive. You could become a local politician and survive. You could start a business or get employed at a small business and survive. You could even start working at an interesting bar. Do what’s good for your health. Spoiler alert: it’s not to continue living a life that feels empty and ‘dead end’.

You're well spoken, and professionally mannered. Why wait to be hired? This is your start. You can interview other people in your position, under similar circumstances. That could be the very premise for this channel. So many people are where you are, or have been where you are. Ask people in the comments if they would be willing to tell there story by interview. I do feel like due to the pace of technology many parents who are from older generations were not prepared to show (or warn) the younger generation about the importance of success or how to be a successful in all aspects of their life. Especially, careerwise.
Yes, we’re like technology guinea pigs. Our parents never had to deal with 100+ work and personal messages, emails, calls, notifications a day, in addition to managing money in an economy with a shrinking middle class, staying active, social, and healthy. This is maddening. It’s too much.

I started medical school at 18 got into one of the most competitive schools in my country , it literally mentally , economically and physically destroyed me , completed my whole degree but failed one of my exams by 0.1 percent , that pushed Me into the deepest depression I ever experienced in my life , so I pretty much have to start life all over again at 27🙄, every day gets better and better , we got this❤️

@@ComfyCatzWow they need to change that. Are you able to drop courses? Many times is the teacher, the books that they pick, and lack of supplemental study aids especially if the authors are bad. For me it’s the teachers that don’t use textbooks and/or plain text ones that are the worst plus not all exams the same. I did bad in certain sciences but I can’t stand it when the exam was just two complex questions. It was a certain science for my basic GE slot. Basically explaining mRNA, DNA, and cellular transport it was decades back for two complex situations. But yeah I did bad, my thought process thinks this unfair for an intro class but yeah for pre-med majors it was too easy. It was sharing basic knowledge and drawing basic parts on paper.
My one piece of advice would be is DO NOT WAIT. If you want something do not wait for it to happen somehow start it yourself. Create you own company, find like minded people in the same position and build something together. Get out of the house and surround yourself with people who are living the life you want or have the things you want to have. Sometimes we don’t realise that we need a shift in mindset until we are around people who are doing what we want to be doing and we realise they think entirely differently to us. Being around those people will make you subconsciously step up your game. Now I say this as someone who never did any of these things because I never had any advice and was too embarrassed to ask for it. I’m in my 40s and in a similar position. Am I sad about it? Yes, a little bit I’m not mad, I’m just glad I realised now, better late than never. All those cliches sayings are cliches for a reason; they have a point "Procrastination is the thief of time" "Feel the fear and do it anyway" "better to regret something you did do than something you didn’t"

Idk I know this sounds cheesy but I follow my zodiac signs and look at careers that match my personality. Right now I’m in my field and I’m a number 9. I do want to gain a position on a more higher level hence to why I’m doing my masters right now so I know it will come. You gotta meditate and do like personality test learn and understand who you are. I also did lots on internships when i was in my college years they build my resume. I got all my jobs on my own through myself never networking which is weird but true. I wish you all the best some people don’t believe in like astrology but it’ helps as well as pray to god, just learn yourself. I spend lots of time alone do lots of test taking to see my results. It works for me.

When I was in my teens I knew exactly what I wanted to do and I did it with God’s help. Working after several years I knew I had to do something else career wise. I’ve been searching for years what field to go into, basically I had to reinvent myself. What I’m trying to say keep searching and you’ll get to your goal. Maybe it will help you if figure out what’s important to you guys like traveling, debt free etc…. What do you like that gives you passion etc…..

I took a job as a PA when I was 33. low rate, picking up garbage, doing food runs, etc. Now I am 41, I own a documentary production company, and have made project for National broadcasters. You just gotta swallow your pride and start at the bottom and learn whatever you can until you find the right opportunity to move up.
This! We just should not despise small beginnings. Do the mundane until you find your purpose. Bills must be paid ! Live ! People with degrees are doing all sorts of jobs while they find their niche.
It can get discouraging at times, take a break and get back out there.

What did you study? If a person spends years on a degree with decent, then they very clearly have proven their aptitude for that field of work. The only thing that starting out as, say a PA, would provide them with, are connections. Which in my opinion is a terrible way to distribute work. People's affections and sympathies should not be the reason why someone gets a position.

I wouldn't count it as time wasted, rather, it's time to reflect and really hone in on what you can improve and specialize in. There's plenty of people in the medical field who have failed countless times in their exams, etc. and have become wonderful medical providers once they pass (even if it took them years to get there). 24, college dropout, single single, no career, live with my parents with an expired nursing assistant license, working as a caregiver, luckily I have a car that my parents got me, but I stay grateful for things I do have and that is what keeps me joyful, one day at a time is the only way to stay sane and I pray consistently and leave my desires in the hands of God, I know my time is coming and so is yours

to be honest - if you wait for "god" to change your life, you will probably wait your whole life. get your ass up, start being responsible for your life and do an education or anything that makes people wanting to give you money for your work. it is damn hard for some years, but i would prefer having no live for some years to have 60+ nice years than working shity jobs the rest of my life.
Please know that you have the power to change the direction of your life. Perhaps going back to school will help. God helps those who help themselves. And, there are resources for young mothers in almost every city. All the best to you.
I'm 17 turning 18 this year and was feeling very low. Making decisions about my major and college life and job prospects had got me real stressed. This video made me feel a lott better! I feel directionless and worry about my grades all the time. I’ve avoided this video for weeks because I’m 33, live with my parents, live life is terrible, not a fan of my job but I have one … and currently studying psychology to broaden my job opportunities and avenues. I am inside the house 24/7 because I work from home … honestly, im the loneliest I’ve ever been and my latest break up really left me numb and disinterested in things but I can see a silver lining in a sense I’ve started created again which was extra income for me. Keep your head up … my friends and family support me a lot mentally even though they don’t know it and I don’t really speak about it.

I'm 22 and I feel so lost honestly. I had a gut feeling since I was teenager that I had zero clue on what do for myself. I struggle to pick a career and pursue it. Never liked the idea of committing to something for that long not just for living but for monetary necessity and fulfillment of life. I wish I could have been like my mother who knew what she wanted in life. I'm not like that unfortunately. I currently work in hospice care as an admin assistant. I don't like office jobs. It's very tedious and meaningless work but it get me money. I use the money for my hobbies that keep me going. I also save some up for my future. I wish life wasn't so dependent on money.

Finding it difficult to commit to things long term, working dead end jobs not bc I like them, just for the money. I’m a homebody, don’t get out much or talk to ppl. I feel like I’m on autopilot sometimes just getting by. Life has been stagnant for me for a while now.
Maybe combine care and office work and work to become a supervisor or assistant manager.

I'm 46, feel like im still 35 , i've worked a lot, had a few relationships, left a bad relationship, became a single mom of three at 33 yrs old, and ever since my focus was paying bills, taking care of my kids, making memories for them, basicly just being a full time, single mom, no friends really, little family. It gets lonely, and frustrating, but my advice, every situation is different, just make the best of your situation and pray, and make lasting memories, whether thats doing something you like to do, persue a career, raise your kids, take care of your animals, take care of yourself! And create short term goals, be kind to yourself, life is unpredictable, just have to go with the flow and keep being thankful for what you have, never lose hope that things will get better

I was 36 before I landed a dream job, after taking the time to study, volunteering and increasing my knowledge about the places I wanted to work at. @@CL-vf4iz I became a home engineer instead of a recently divorced mother, jack of all trades; a negotiator, an innovator,…basically I listed exactly what I did as a mother/head of household but I used big words to lift the job description. I also treated my volunteer job as a real job, they were happy to write me a letter. I used a dictionary and a thesaurus, every step of the way to help me. Had I known better, I don’t think I would have written it, but the resume got attention as it was.

I retired at 53 thanks to my husband . It wouldn't have been possible without his company stock plan because it far exceeded the 401k we both have. He is six years older than me and was sick of the day to day grind but we had no clue if our savings and investments would be sufficient, we finally went to a financial management meeting and we make all decisions for a profitable Investment and prepared a plan for our early retirement. We should have done that years ago but never considered that we might ever have enough to retire early and I thank God and my husband for the ability to do investment . We are now financially stable with everything paid for and we have a good health insurance ! Don't wait time is something we have in short supply and no amount of money will buy you more, I pray that anyone who reads and held to these words will be successful in life too 🙏🙏🙏

Came across this video on my home page and it’s exactly what I needed to hear. I got my bs in biology in 2019, and got an amazing internship turned 4 year contract at a government agency doing great work. My contract ended last year and I have been unemployed since. I thought with my degree and that amazing experience under my belt, it would be no problem landing an entry level lab job, but i was horribly mistaken. It took awhile for me to acknowledge the toll this took on my mental health and self esteem constantly being faced with rejection and feeling not good enough. I dug myself into a depression hole, unable to complete daily maintenance tasks and take care of my physical health. I’m only now coming to terms with it and trying to lift myself up. I can’t tell you how relieving it is to know that i’m not the only one feeling this way. Thank you for sharing your story and i hope you are able to find your path again. ❤

You're still young. It's never too late to find your passion in life and shake things up to find more meaning and enjoyment. I used to be a pre-k teacher. At 39 years of age, I quit the profession forever and for good. Now I work part time at a store and take art classes at my local community college. I'm broke but I've never been happier.

I saw this post on Twitter/X, about how “the longer you’ve been single, the harder it gets to date” and everyone was talking about how being in a relationship is a waste of time and creates stress, but no one was talking about how beautiful it is to build a life with another person, even if it’s a friend. We’ve gotten to a point in society where wanting friends and wanting to be in a relationship is considered “being codependent” or “not knowing how to be alone” and thus we’ve created shame in those who long for any form of companionship.

@@tiahnarodriguez3809 even if your perception of age is altered by the social regime you've been brought up in, the clock of nature does not stop. i agree that in society, 30 year olds are definitely acting a lot younger, and there is less stigma around such things which might be why you think this, but i think the notion that 30 isnt old is misguided.
at age 30, fertility is declining which is a dealbreaker for many. it isnt the end of the world, but it is something that shouldnt be overlooked just because of your perception of social behaviours.
this is so true. our generation is projected to have such a long life expectancy, so most of us feel younger than our parents did at our age. and the world has changed so much.
i started making a 6 figure salary at 24 because i thought that's what you were "supposed" to do, and i felt so lucky to feel settled. last year, i unexpectedly ended up in an psychologically abusive relationship which caused me so much stress. i was so on edge, paranoid, crying all the time. then i lost my job. i used my savings to channel all my frustration into art and ended up finding a passion and community, which i never had before. now i am unemployed, living off savings, doing art all the time, learning to cook food i actually like, learning to sew my own clothes. i feel at peace when i'm alone, but when i'm asked about my job or what i do, i want to cry out of shame. my savings are running out and i have no idea what's coming next or what to do. part-time jobs are one thing but when so much of your identity was tied to your old profession, it's scary trying to figure out a new direction. it's comforting to know that others are in a similar situation. you really can't predict how life can take a turn for the worse sometimes.
