James singing and playing a bazillion riffs and putting on a good show in front of thousands, is still a mind bending feat. He changes his voices to accent and emphasize certain words and there's a huge transformation on his vocals from 1983 to the present. Still is one of the greatest frontman of the modern times.
Thanks sooo much Mr. Erwin for sharing this wonderful insights about James😍have a wonderful day♥️
@@AaliyahCapili and yes, he has been trained by an opera singer around the 1990s Black album and still use that casette tape to warm up his voice. This led to a dramatic shift in his method of singing and projecting
@@ErwinMeister8 oh wow, thanks sooo much for sharing🤗💕🤗
@@AaliyahCapili very good video 💋you
In fact, if you listen to James from Metallica’s first two albums, then listen to stuff from late ‘90’s, you can tell the difference. This is mainly, in the beginning, James really don’t know how to “sing”, so he growls and uses his vocal cords a lot…To the point he blew out his vocal cords in 1992…Then in 1995, he blew out his cords for the second time. That’s when his doc told him if he blew it out again, he won’t even talk properly, much less sing! So he got a lot of classical training and he became more nasally to protect his cords.
This is the song I wish I had understood when I used to listen to it as a teen. But not only do the lyrics tell the story of the diabolical nature of drug addiction, but the music is a chronology of the craving, high and withdrawal of addiction. The anxiety and anticipation created by the starting intensity, followed by a soft soothing melodic euphoric guitar solo depicting the high, only to return to the intense desperation to "fix me".
And the fact that this clear reality eludes so many who fall prey to the cycle of addiction, myself included, is heart wrenchingly mind boggling.
Thanks so much Mr. John for sharing your insights and knowledge. I truly appreciate it🌸🌸🌸have a wonderdul day always🌸🌸🌸
Your positivity is amazing, had me smiling each time you paused lol
Aww thanks so much for your kind words and compliment🌸have a wonderful day🌸
Great reaction! I like how you mentioned how James plays & sings that gets overlooked sometimes gotta be difficult
Thanks sooo much for your kind words and appreciation😍😍😍
Nothing wrong with being an opera singer and a head banger on the side!!!!😂
🤗😍🤗♥️♥️♥️
You hear how classical in nature their guitar solos are? Listen to Fade to Black, or One, gorgeous solos!
Thanks so much, i will check it out too♥️
Beethoven was the original metal composer.
James learned how to sing properly and safely after basically blowing his voice out in the 90’s. He had a better voice for the songs at the time, more powerful, but there was no way it was ever gonna last and when his voice went he knew he had to give up his old style and learn how to sing properly. He still throws some growl in here and there today and you get a feel of the old James now and then which is cool, but he’s saving his voice now lol
Thanks so much for sharing🌸have a great day🌸
I'm glad he made that adjustment. Last time I saw them live was during the hard wired tour, at met life stadium, and they still are one of the tightest, and most impressive live acts there is
I would recommend watching the performances from the 80’s when they were younger and more energetic. “Battery” live in 1989 in Seattle is a classic.
Thanks so much for your recommendation, i will check it out too😍
S&M (an abbreviation of Symphony and Metallica) is a live album by American heavy metal band Metallica, with the San Francisco Symphony conducted by Michael Kamen.
I figure your opera roots could go into overdrive with this one. And I do suggest the S&M version of One

My ears are still ringing from the And Justice For All tour in 89.

It is awesome that kids today are liking this song. I was playing this in my garage band with my friends when I was 16 years old and now I'm 45. Metallica is a great band because they are heavy as f but also very MUSICAL. Thanks for video. Cheers!
Thanks so much for sharing🌺have a great day♥️
Great reaction! Because of my being Italian (and, like almost all Italians, I love opera) I raise my glass to your future as a singer and make a "brindisi" (quoting Verdi's "La traviata")!
And don't stop listening to rock and metal!
Greetings from Italy...🎩

Pretty wild. another good reaction/analysis Aaliyah👍👏💞

you know, james has a daughter too, she's a hell of a singer, they have a live video together performing an adelle song
Thanks so much for sharing💕
This was filmed in Vancouver British Columbia. I was at the concert the next day after all the filming. Please react to Fade to Black.

Heavy Metal was never boring
Yes indeed😍
The interlude about halfway of the song illustrates the high one gets from the drugs and it also evolves into the down after the high ends
🌺
Great reaction, great channel !👍
Thanks so much Mr. Rick🌸
Omg Aaliyah! This is so cool! Great job! We haven't spoken in ages, need to catch up some time in the future! ❤
You should check out some of Metallica's performances from their S&M2 concert!
Awwwww thanks so much Adi, we should definitely catch up soon. And i’ll look into those performances🌺
From a 50 year old METALLICA Fan, who grew up with their music: Thank you for that reaction, it's always wonderful to see, how even young people like you get hooked by this amazing (and in my opinion BEST!) Metal-Band of all times.
So, for the fact that you're an Opera Singer: Have you ever reacted to the Band NIGHTWISH from Finnland? I think it could be something for you, I'd suggest the song "Ghost Love Score"...perhaps you give it a try.
Stay safe, healthy, and always as you are - best regards from Germany, bye. :)
Thanks so much Mr. Mario, I do have NightWish reactions, hope you can check it out in my channel🥰🥰🥰have a great day🥰🥰🥰
You will love this.. this live/ music video is from the Metallica "movie" called "Through the Never". It's basically a 2 hour live Metallica concert that's a music video. This is just one small part from that movie. You said you like that it's a live performance with a music video at the same time, you'd love the movie, that's all it is
Oh thanks so much Mr. Brian for sharing, i will check it out too💕
You did great with this reaction. I have been a long time fan of Metallica. They got me through some dark days I find I still relish listening to their music it never gets old to me. My favorites are the ones they did with the San Francisco Symphony. I recommend you give one of the songs from that performance a try. It only adds to it having all those other instruments included. I love to sing their songs only wish I had some actually training in how to use my mouth, voice, breathing and the like.
Thanks so much Mr. Dough, i will definitely check out your recommendation. Thanks again for sharing💕
@@AaliyahCapili You're very welcome. They did a lot of their biggest songs in that concert. One, battery, nothing else matters, of wolf and man,for whom the bell tolls, sad but true, enter sand man, wherever I may roam,no leaf clover, memory remains, fuel, bleeding me, etc. ^_^
@@dougie3108 oh thanks so much🌺

#1 fav band🤘😈🤘

In rock, there's a world of singers. Any singer realizes that if they want to perform night after night, they have to take care of their voice.
In rock and thrash, many singers are not gifted... but many times they can pour the feeling of the lyrics in an operatic way, not their voice sounding operatic, but them being able to portray and act the lyrics, the case of Metallica and Megadeth.
But in metal and symphonic metal, you will find more trained singers. Examples: Roy Khan from Kamelot, and one of my favorites, Messiah Marcolin, you can listen to him in "Therion feat. Messiah Marcolin Kali Yuga I &II", the plus in Therion is hearing the sopranos in there. And Roy Khan in "Elizabeth I, II & III" by Kamelot.
Oh thanks so much Mr. Fredi, for sharing all of this wonderful insights and information🥰i will check it out too🥰
That is from the same Album 1986 , last Album with Cliff Burton on Bass kill in a Bus Accident on Tour
Ohhh 😢🙏😢
I saw the Monster of Rock tour in 1988 and Van Hagar was the headline but I would guess well over 1/2 the 60k were there to see Metallica. When this song came on all you could see was 15 year old hair banging away in unison. It was amazing.
Yep. I was at MOR in Houston, 1988. There to see Van Halen and Metallica.
Oh wow thanks so much Mr. Chris for sharing😍😍😍

Hello Mr. Carmelo💕
I watched this, Ozzy, and Judas priest videos. Nothing beats your reaction for the painkiller video. You looked painful and you were more shocked with painkiller😁

James is a good one. After 1992, I’d never have pyro near my stage again…ooof🎸🥁🤦🏾♀️🔥
Thanks for sharing
For early metallica always go to the Seattle 89 concert.
Thanks so much for sharing Mr. Mark💕
A couple of the best voices in heavy music imo are Till Lindemann of Ramstein and Glenn Danzig of Danzig. There's a cool live video of Ich Tu Dir Weh by Rammstein that would be good for reacting. There's no video but I recommend giving Tired Of Being Alive by Danzig a listen. Enjoyed your reaction.
Thanks so much for sharing and for all your recommendations, i will check it out too😍

Love robs bass tone
🥰
The song is about addiction, so the "master" is a drug, the word master fades to the transition because that is a metaphor for someone succumbing to their urge and the drug responding,. Then it changes back to the hard music which reflects coming down off a drug. It's pretty clever.
Thanks for sharing

Keep in mind, that this is from the movie "A Metalhead's Journey"(Or, something along those lines),as it was released in 2020, or 2021. So, they are doing this, when they are in their 60's! And, since you mentioned their on stage playing, I should mention, that they were 1 of the longest running live player's, back in the 80's and 90's, as they never stopped touring, for over a decade. If I remember correctly, they didn't stop touring, for something like, 12yrs. They were relentless to perfect their stage performance, instead of just laying around and going to the studio, once a while. The only time that they were not traveling, was for a few day's out of the year. And, I have seen them 4 time's, starting with their "And Justice For All..." tour, back in 91'. Now, if you really want an intense Metallica song? Then, I would suggest 1 of my favorite song's of all time, Metallica - One. The drum solo in the middle, towards the end, is epic!
Hello Mr. Shawn, wow thanks so much for sharing this, they are really awesome😍I will check out your recommendation as well💕
@@AaliyahCapili I should also mention, that you should check out their live concert, in Moscow, back in 91'. I will give you the link to the video, as well. Last I knew, it held the world record in the Guinness Book Of World Record's, with the largest crowd in history, when it happened. They did another famous song of their's "Enter Sandman". And, if you never seen 1.6+M people in 1 place before? You about to! And, the solo's in the video, were all great, as well. They did the concert, with other group's, such as AC/DC, Dio, as well as a few other's, that lasted for I believe it was 4 day's, but I could be wrong on how long it really lasted, by a day or so. Ok, here is the link to the concert of Metallica doing "Enter Sandman" in Moscow in 1991...
FYI, from ALL of the reaction's to this, including a young(Maybe your age?) lady from Moscow, Russia, were all astounded & shocked at what they were seeing at this concert, as they were all surprised at the 1/2M people, but never had they seen such a thing, as 1.6+M people, from kid's, to the elderly, as well as, the common people, to the actual military there, just goin crazy with the music!

Love your reaction with Metallica watch it twice =D
Thanks so much Mr. Seth, thanks for your recommendation too, i will check it out🌺have a nice day🤗
Biggest band in the world 40 years and counting
🤗🌸🤗
The high energy represents the high of drugs, then the interlude represents the come down after the high. Then there is the dressed section where the user is begging for more drugs. Then the end is the next high from the next hit of drugs.
Thanks so much Mr. Gerard for sharing your insights🤗much appreciated🤗
Fade to Black is a next good choice. Live version from 2017+

James has lost the lion roar-like voice he once had in his younger years, which is completely understandable after 40 years. The studio version is much better than then live but back then they didn't produce any videos for their music-except maybe some live stuff. BUT huge kudos for picking Metallica's masterpiece song. Its the single most difficult song I ever learned on guitar.

Thanks for the heart reply! ☺️ The 'Official' version is Good. But, it has repetitive choruses. The version with the San Francisco Philharmonic Orchestra is much better. James uses some vocal techniques.
Metallica, believe it or not was just starting, in 84 and wasnt well received , yet only by their fans , with no videos till early 90's, only bootlegs of performances and we the fans gave these great bands life, NOT the record labels, they were into image and hooks, but the real fans in demand wanted bands to be recognized , queensryche/megadeth/slayer/venom/Triumph/even Rush wasnt being played on MTV very rare.So may bands i left out, you would nt believe!!
Thanks so much for sharing all of this insights about them and other great bands. They are really so awesome.

Many things can be said of Metallica, not all complimentary (no, I haven't completely forgiven Re-Load, lol), but their utter mastery of the art of songwriting cannot be denied!

I’ve been a fan since 85 and must say great reaction. Their bass player from their 1st 3 albums Cliff Burton was classically trained musician. RIP Cliff had an affinity with Bach and taught Kirk the harmonies that make Metallica’s sound. Fade to Black live would be a great next song.

I wish someone would take down this Master of Puppets video. It has nothing to do with the song and takes away from it. If the video is not marked "official," I would recommend listening to the album version (since that is what most fans would have heard and listened to over the years) or a good concert recording (not difficult with Metallica). Good reaction on your part though.
