The whole concert is just absolutely brilliant... To me it was the perfect mix of talent, drunkenness, rage, grief... I think they went back on stage way too soon after Cliff died but they kicked 5011 different versions of ass doing it❤❤❤
I envy anyone who listens to this for the first time. Also, every song on this album is about something that controls you. Battery is about their fans, Master of Puppets is about drugs, Disposable Heroes is about military soldiers, Leper Messiah is about religion, etc. The whole album is a masterpiece, musically and lyrically.
That’s the beauty of reaction bc videos. We can live vicariously through the reactors and experience the song for the first time again. Also, I really think the band was at their absolute best in this era. You can hear every single note!
In 2015, Master of Puppets became the first metal recording to be selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
You must watch For whom the bell tolls Live from Day on the Green 1985 with original bassist Cliff burton going ham on that bass. It’s a classic performance
Lars Ulrich on drums Kirk Hammett on lead guitar Robert Trujillo on bass (ex Suicidal tendencies bassist) James Hetfeild on vocals and rhythm guitar. They performed this quite fast it is well worth listening to the studio version and really paying attention to the lyrics. Metallica's lyrics are deeper than alot of people think. As usual great reaction
I’ve always said Metallica is better live than in studio. I love the way they improvise in their live shows. I was 16 years old when Master of Puppets hit and their tour came to my little town of Tulsa Oklahoma back in 92. My first job at 16 was working concessions at our local amusement park and it was located on the fairgrounds. Metallica came to Tulsa with Guns and Roses. I’m a preachers kid so I had to sneak around to listen to my favorite bands. So the night of the concert I told my folks I was working that night but really going to the concert. 2 hours before gates opened Axl Rose decided he didn’t want to play that night so the entire show was cancelled. Metallica blew up and we didn’t have a venue big enough to get Metallica to come. Fast forward to 2019 they finally had a venue here they’d play and my wife got me tickets as a birthday gift. I finally after 30 years got to see them and it was everything I could’ve hoped for. They are also the ONLY bad in existence that has played on all 7 continents. No other band has!
Mine was Ride, went backward to Kill Em All, then got Puppets when it came out. I called my friend and told him I heard the new Metallica, he asked if it was as good as Ride the Lightning, I said you’re not gonna believe this, it’s better
YYEESS Stacey, Let's go !!! This is the title track of, in my opinion, the most important metal album ever. That drummer is Lars Ulrich, born in Denmark and a founding member together with the singer and the other guitarist. I loved your reaction, as always, and looking forward to the next Metallica you do !!! Regards Norseman !!!
You should definitely check out the studio version of this song. In my opinion this is the best metal song of all time. Metallica still sounds great but you miss a lot of the lyrics because they have the crowd sing a lot of them during this performance. Love your channel! ❤️
Rock is their soul, And their souls are beautiful. Seen them live 5 times and never ever been disappointed. They are life's precious gems in this world. 🦀
My absolute favorite band for over 30 years, I finally was able to see them last August in LA. Took my teenage son who’s also a fan for his first concert! We had a blast at the concert.
Great you have discovered Metallica, and they are still performing today. I really encourage you to watch them play Master of Puppets in the pouring rain live at Manchester England June 18, 2019. You will see the water literally leaping off Lars drumkit. Insane! Did they stop.. no they just carried on without missing a beat. Epic.
One of the best songs in their entire catalog. It's off their 3rd album. They'd been rocking out for years at that point, but it was the album that REALLY made the industry say "damn, these dudes know what they're doing".
This is the best Metallica album in my opinion. Gotta react to the whole thing it’s a masterpiece of music.JUST MORE METALLICA PLEAAASE!. 1:08 Lars loves to do the stand up thing when hitting the cymbal, it’s his signature thing I would say. Lars is the drummer btw.
I’ve been a Metallica fan since the beginning in the early 80’s. I love seeing the new generations discover them. I just wish I was able to hear these songs for the first time again
1986 I was 14 when I started hearing Metallica. I was hooked, Metallica pretty much saved my life. Fade to Black especially in my darkest times I would put on Metallica and it would just pull me through my troubles. I'm almost crying 😢 watching you react for the first time. I'm jealous 😂 I've seen them 4 times in Vancouver British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦. Best band ever.
Metallica is my favorite & the first metal band i ever heard wit Enter Sandman being the first metal song i ever heard im tryin to go see Metallica in concert next year James Hetfield has such a badass voice this would be the final album that bassist Cliff Burton would ever work on he would die during the tour in a horrific bus crash after he was flung out of the bus & it would land on him killing him instantly at his funeral Metallica played Orion in his memory RIP Cliff keep rocking in Heaven brother ❤. Master of Puppets is a song about drug use & how it can take over ur life another great song to check out by them is No Leaf Clover they do the song wit an orchestra & its jus absolutely amazing
Excellent selection, there are many live versions of this song, for me this one was the best, because I was in there for the whole show--watch seek & destroy from the same Québec show to see how they interact in a funny way with the crowd. I went to Metallica shows 5 times between 1985 & 2023. To answer your question, it was for the album death magnetic tour (in 2008 or 2009). the crowd is loud, because 2 weeks before this show, Metallica announced that it would be filmed & released on DVD after the tour, so the crowd was ready to be part of it. Have a nice day. btw, when going to a Metallica show, the band expect the crowd to sing loud, make noise and have fun. They often yell at the crowd if they don't give the band what they want.
I can highly recommend Metallicas 'Memory remains' with the san Francisco Philomonic, the crowd participation is amazing. you should also check out a band called the warning, 3 sisters from Mexico, I saw them live for the first time this year but they are seriously good. check out the song called 'Evolve' it will blow you out of your chair! I have seen mettalica lice 3 times better every time, they were my the 12 year old daughters first gig. awesome
Love your reactions 😊 I can suggest you to see the Seattle concert in 1989 you'll lose your mind!!! My favorite song is The four Horsemen but everything in that concert is mindblowing
Don't explain everything about this band. Fan from the start, got every album. THE METAL BAND FOR ME FOREVER. Live performances are top quality and still going strong. Love your reactions, for sure Enter Sandman in Moskow. What a crowd.
I really do wish people would react more to the Master Of Puppets from METALLICA S&M. I mean Stacy RPG would be interested in hearing a hybrid version of this song.
I've been listening to Metallica since I was a kid and they are the best, the energy that they radiate and that you talk about is amazing, Kirk, James and Lars they are the macho ones.
Stacey you really need to do Master of Puppets 1989 live Seattle!!!! So, so, so much better!!! And also CREEPING DEATH at the Moscow show…. You will for sure be hooked
Just 4 men in/near their 60s going out for a good time on a Wed night. They are on a stadium world tour as we speak - releasing videos from around the world every few days on their YT channel. They are true survivors and number 1 in the land of hard rock. 🤘🤘
@Stacey, you also have to watch "Master of puppets" from this year at the concert in Munich at the Olympic Stadium, when Metallica just kept playing during a thunderstorm. The lightning struck the outside of the Olympic Tower and James Hetfield just said. "That's just water". Legendary
You should react to “For Whom The Bell Tolls” either studio version or live in Seattle ‘89. You won’t be disappointed. Their energy back then was insane. Also, “Nothing Else Matters”, one of the greatest songs ever written.
Fun fact.. James guitar is made from wood from the original garage they practiced at when they first got started . He uses that guitar for that song no matter of it rains or not
Metallica has definitely changed over the years but even today (still playing to large audiences across the world) they are awesome and worth seeing live! Really enjoying your reactions! Keep it up!
This is the old man watered down version of Master of Puppets. The best live version is probably Seattle '89 when they were in their prime to play their older aggressive songs.
ya it kind of bums me when people react to this first. Hetfield's vocals just weren't what they used to be by this point. Frankly I don't even know why people insist on reacting to the live version of songs first in general, especially Metallica who have been pretty hit or miss live post TBA tour. I get that live performances are more raw, but it's probably way better if you are actually there in person. The appeal of a live show to me is when YOU actually see it live, not just watching a recording.
In the spring of 1986 at the age of 11 I was introduced to Master of Puppets by my 12 year old cousin at a sleepover, this was the third album he "borrowed" from his older brother Kill em all in 83 Ride the Lightning in 84, so I was already a veteran Metallica fan, but Master of Puppets was such a powerful album They attract the attention of and would open for Ozzy " their last tour as an opening act", Metallica has since grown to the biggest band in Hard Rock / Heavy Metal. for me it's been a 41 year ride some jumped off, others joined the party late. we welcome new comers to the Metal Melitia. " the original name of the Metallica Fan Club" also a song from Kill Em All . I hope you grow to become one of us. This is the current lineup for Metallica James Hetfield Vocals/Rhythm guitar Kirk Hammett Lead Guitar Lars Ulrich Drums and Robert Trujillo Bass.
Oh yes Stacey you are starting to enter in what metal's did the best, please enjoy, as I said before I would love to discover some songs and bands like Metallica everyday, enjoy your journey with us 🤘🤘🤘Bye'n'cha 🤩😘 (and BTW the lyrics are very deep on this song if you put yourself back in the context of the sex drugs rock'n'roll era and is still very relevant today)
Hi Stacey! Hows Majorca!! Master of Puppets is an amazing song, and Cliff Burton’s influence on the entire album is undeniable. I remember when it came out, we were all passing that vinyl around like crazy just to take another listen. And of course, there was Ride the Lightning, another phenomenal album. Go for "Anesthesia / Pulling teeth", can't go wrong with that one!
i'd recommend Anesthetize by Porcupine Tree live in Tilburg. this song will blow you away, it's on another level really. i enjoy your video's very much, especially the ones of Queen. all the best!
Hey Stacey.. I love how you're into the music and the energy at these live performances. I've been a fan of Metallica since around 1987. Do give the lyrics an investigation. As much as you're enjoying the music and energy, once you understand the lyrics, you'll be even more blown away. For example. Master Of Puppets is a song about drugs, from the drugs perspective. The song talks about how the Drug is controlling the person. The drug is the Master Of Puppets. "Master of puppets I'm pulling your strings.... twisting your mind and smashing your dreams..... Blinded by me you can't see a thing...... Just call my name and I'll hear you scream... " That is the drug calling out to the user.. The breakdown of guitars in Harmony, was to show the elation of the user getting the "high" by using. Then it crashes down again.. Again, awesome reaction, but do check out the lyrics.. A whole story was told here. Keep up this Metallica Rabbit Hole! I love it!
I listened to it kind of like you. I got a live recording on tape and just loved the energy. I had listened to it probably hundreds of times before i ever sat down to really listen to the lyrics and understand what the song is about. That changed my perspective of the song, i had always thought it was about people controlling you. I liked that better actually, even though i could relate to the song way more after i knew what it was actually about. One of the most fun songs to play on guitar too, if you have the endurance in your wrist.
The live is super entertaining, but the studio version with the lyrics is the best intro to this song. There is meaning behind everything going on with the song.
The guys in Metallica are around my age, 60-63 range. They still sound incredible and get around the stage really well. They will be in Charlotte (the area we live) next year and my sons and I are going to attend. Great show, thanks for posting.
13:03 Do you happen to know their whole tour schedule I would like to go see them too and I think maybe next year I can do it also how much is it going to cost me? What time frame?

As always, a beautiful reaction Stacey. 😘👍 Yes, please make a video of the student version of it. Use a lyric video so you can fully understand the lyrics.
this is one of the metallica classics. 1980s! Another band worth checking out with their melodic metal from that era is Helloween. They founded a new genre Keeper of the seven keys live at pumpkins united gives you an all time classic including all singers the band ever had. Many other bands took inspiration from them. Similarly as many others looked up to Metallica.
btw speaking of joy, James Hetfield the lead singer loves sitting on his ranch watching his bee's fly in and out of the hive. Random info i know but i think its very cool
I guess this is from the "Death Magnetic" - Tour in 2008.. I was at one of the concerts here in Norway 👍The drummer, Lars Ulrich, one of the founding father of Metallica...he's from Denmark 👍
Let's go.....This album is the BEST Thrash album of all time. Hard fast and heavy. Unfortunately you listened to the wrong version. You shoukd have listened to the original version when they were young and full of angst. Always do album versions first. Especially these guys. A great reaction!
Great reaction:) Master of Puppets was actually my first "real" metal album that I bought. It was back in 1986 and I was 11 years old:) Before that I had some Kiss and Mötley Crue albums and stuff like that. But this album changed everything, and it has a very special place in my heart:) Every song on this album is fantastic.
The show’s organizers repeatedly come on stage to plead with the crowd to refrain from violence, lest the authorities shut it down. “Remember why we are here,” they say, “to celebrate our victory.” Yet there are also people in army uniforms enjoying the music along with everyone else, flashing devil horns and lolling their tongues as if they’re in need of an exorcism. Not my words but True
Being there is a whole other thing... It is a life altering experience seeing these guys live. I don't know what it is about Metallica, but there is something unique to them. I have seen all sorts of bands live, but nothing quite hits like Metallica...
LOVE YOUR REACTIONS! BUT... When it comes to metal, I would suggest that you take the studio versions before the live versions. There's TONS of Metallica live videos on youtube, and from almost every year - almost all their songs, so that will not be your problem. By the way, this live version is what you would call "new-ish" - you can find plenty of live versions of this song, all the way back to 1986. PS. The drummer is Lars from Denmark (like me).
Awesome reaction, i like the crowd aswell. But i guess Metallica fans are similar world over. One of the best shows ive seen is the big 4 in Gothenburg Sweden, the crowd there was spectacular. Be safe all
If you want to truly be moved by a Metallica song, I recommend listening/reacting to their official song/video titled "One." It's an anti-war song/video, and it shows you how deep their songs can be. Many people cry watching the video, and it really shows their artistry in making videos as well. The video is intermixed with footage from an old movie called "Johnny Got His Gun" (I think that's the name). It's a masterpiece.
Did I just hear you correctly say the drummer is like a super Saiyan gathering energy? I mean, I love it. But did not expect it lol. Lars Ulrich (the drummer) is one of the founding members and the visionary behind everything Metallica. He is pumped and excited every single show just like this and for good reason. He created the biggest metal band in the world. Just saw them a couple weeks ago and it was unbelievable.
The singer James Hetfield’s laugh at the end, is really part of the song, and in the recorded version. Master of Puppets is about drugs taking control of you and your life. When they break into the mellow part, that is the high you’re on from drugs, particularly heroin.
Metallica Seattle 1989. Battery
The whole concert is just absolutely brilliant... To me it was the perfect mix of talent, drunkenness, rage, grief... I think they went back on stage way too soon after Cliff died but they kicked 5011 different versions of ass doing it❤❤❤
That, that was the ultimate. With Jason starting it off
That whole concert but you gotta remix the trash can snare
Fucking Ba Tte ry
I envy anyone who listens to this for the first time.
Also, every song on this album is about something that controls you. Battery is about their fans, Master of Puppets is about drugs, Disposable Heroes is about military soldiers, Leper Messiah is about religion, etc. The whole album is a masterpiece, musically and lyrically.
man...what happend to me firstimin battery and master....i ve always stoped the tape and back again...listened the rest of the album a year later!
Same brother, same.

A metallica concert would be one of the best you've ever experienced. I've been three times and hope to see them again.
Can't agree more, dude 🤘
You should definitely check out the studio version of this song. In my opinion this is the best metal song of all time. Metallica still sounds great but you miss a lot of the lyrics because they have the crowd sing a lot of them during this performance. Love your channel! ❤️
But the voice of James is later better, than on the studio recording!
Seattle 89 is the definitive live performance of many of their early songs. Amazing show!
Rock is their soul, And their souls are beautiful. Seen them live 5 times and never ever been disappointed. They are life's precious gems in this world. 🦀

When you understand what the song is about, the 3 parts make a lot of sense (when you do the studio version im sure you'll get it)
I wasn't a metal fan until the 90's when I discovered Metallica

"Master of puppets I'm pulling your strings.... twisting your mind and smashing your dreams..... Blinded by me you can't see a thing...... Just call my name and I'll hear you scream... "
That is the drug calling out to the user..
The breakdown of guitars in Harmony, was to show the elation of the user getting the "high" by using. Then it crashes down again..
Again, awesome reaction, but do check out the lyrics.. A whole story was told here.
Keep up this Metallica Rabbit Hole!
I love it!
Just saw them both nights in Seattle, still the same solid, never miss Metallica!
Welcome to the family.

This was in either 2008 or 2009, due to it being the Death Magnetic tour. The song was written in 1986. 👍🤘
Still touring right now I’m 43 i was born the year they formed been a fan since 8 years old
Kirk Hammett, the lead guitar player, had a very good professor in Joe Satriani.
Keith Moon as a maniac in EVERY way, lol. The stories about him are absolutely insane.
and if you want to see and hear the ultimate audience interaction, the song Tha Bard Song/ in the Forrest live by the band Blind Guardian is a must
As always, a beautiful reaction Stacey. 😘👍
Yes, please make a video of the student version of it.
You should react to the Seattle '89 concert, the camera work captures the stage presence so well
They were great then, before they got this pub drummer lol
Seen them live twice and loved it.
btw speaking of joy, James Hetfield the lead singer loves sitting on his ranch watching his bee's fly in and out of the hive. Random info i know but i think its very cool
I just saw Metallica a couple weeks ago in Seattle. They STILL got it!
I guess this is from the "Death Magnetic" - Tour in 2008.. I was at one of the concerts here in Norway 👍The drummer, Lars Ulrich, one of the founding father of Metallica...he's from Denmark 👍
Can’t wait for your studio reaction! You’ll be blown away. Also, I really hope you’ll check out their song “Fuel”, I know you’ll love it!!
Let's go.....This album is the BEST Thrash album of all time. Hard fast and heavy. Unfortunately you listened to the wrong version. You shoukd have listened to the original version when they were young and full of angst. Always do album versions first. Especially these guys.
A great reaction!
Rust in Peace exists.
Once again great reaction! And once again I must recommend Pantera Domination live 😁
Happy Birthday Stacey🎂🎂🎂🎂hope it's a good one!!!!
I'm always amazed when a popular huge song is on a 1st time listening reaction thing...like were have you been lol
You got to go see them in concert they're awesome seen them plenty of times
The show’s organizers repeatedly come on stage to plead with the crowd to refrain from violence, lest the authorities shut it down. “Remember why we are here,” they say, “to celebrate our victory.” Yet there are also people in army uniforms enjoying the music along with everyone else, flashing devil horns and lolling their tongues as if they’re in need of an exorcism. Not my words but True
Metallica's "Master of Puppets" are played at around 212 beats per minute (BPM). The song's legendary guitar riff is played at 220 BPM
For Whom the Bell Tolls has an awesome intro by Cliff Burton on the bass.
Master of Puppets in the 80s early 80s
Being there is a whole other thing... It is a life altering experience seeing these guys live. I don't know what it is about Metallica, but there is something unique to them. I have seen all sorts of bands live, but nothing quite hits like Metallica...
Dont think I ever heard Lars being called “that drummer” 😅 Love your reaction
Didn’t know his name 😅
Master of puppets is the best song of metallica of all times, Master of Puppets is in the best albums of heavy metal of all times
Definitely check out Metallica, Battery Seattle 1989 live , Metallica at their prime 🤘
My fav band of all time
Hope you react to the original studio version, so you can hear the full lyrics. Also, their playing back in the day is much better/more intense.
They usually play that song for their last song of the show.
They’re an unreal band. Lars is my favorite drummer great reaction
Drummer- Lars Ulrich.......Their first four albums, are masterpieces !
Should give the studio version of this a listen as well.
2:53 - He always has his tongue out lol 😆
Seattle Sept 1st......real cool
Bro Lars is great
A song about addiction. The middle mellow part is you high on your addiction then the crash .your master ,your addiction, gets the last laugh
You should really consider listening to Fade to Black live, its such a masterpiece
I saw them in either 1982 or 83 in Wichita... Loved it!
The singer James Hetfield’s laugh at the end, is really part of the song, and in the recorded version. Master of Puppets is about drugs taking control of you and your life. When they break into the mellow part, that is the high you’re on from drugs, particularly heroin.
Master of Puppets is an older song to Enter Sandman. But this video is filmed way later after 1992. For on Rob is one Bass
