Don't worry I forgot to mention, he gets paid... a decent amount aswell 🤣
Give a man a fish you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, you'll feed him for a lifetime. Well done!
Brilliant. Getting your break is about selling yourself, and sales is nothing without persistence. If you can identify and secure a great mentor as Kieran has then so much the better. Well done both of you, this is great to see.
Respect for giving the lad a chance. Most apprentices at our place are on phone not wanting to do a lot. Seems keen putting himself through college hope he does well
Have to say what a top guy you are Kirk for giving a young lad who wants to learn, a chance..legend 🙏
thanks alistair
@@Onthetrowel you’ll be able to sit in the van soon like me! My lad is just a little ahead of yours so I get to be a bit more lazy than you lol! He done great under the circumstances! 👊👏👏
The kid is actually very good. Good to hear his story and determination to get a job. Good on him.
Keep it up young man. You'll get it. It's all about time on tools. Nobody is born knowing how to do skilled work.
Poor lad 1st wall and he's got you the kid and the whole of UA-cam watching his every move hahahahahha Well done keiren
Fair play to the lad Kurt remember my 1st wall 38 years ago. Very daunting. Especially when the master of plastering is watching & filming 👍🏻
Top man Kieran
Bloody lovely video this was mate.
Lovely back story on Kyran. What a top young lad having drive like that. A rarity these days! And good on you for giving him a chance and putting in the effort of passing on all that knowledge.
And Kyran looks well on his way to being a pro. I love how he’s adopted your little trowel flick when working the internal angles and ceiling line. And he soaked up all that pressure like a champ.
Plot twist: Kyran will be taking little Archie on as an apprentice in years to come! 🤣
Hello, back in 02, I was a labourer & I used to love doing it. Putting up the board, scrimming, my downfall was I couldn’t mix plaster for shit, the abuse I got I always made it to thick. I’ve watched the video you did on making it up, I only wished someone spent the time to have taught me properly
Looks like you got a decent lad there Kirk...that's hard to come by this day and age...he has good form and with ur guidance will be a top plasterer...good vid mate
Thanks Sam, he's a nice lad an he's trying
Well done lad. Done a good job on that wall. I agree too, better job than a few plasterers I know 👍
Cheers mate, I'm sure he will be reading these comments
top guy - jus wanted to say, i did the same with a local builder - had a job lined up with him 6 months before i left school - i learned so much from him on jobs from the ground up - im now in my 40's and have put my own 2 story extension on my house (with a little help) and plastered 90% of it - we need people like you but also young ones willing to learn - top guy hence the subscribe 👍
Nice one, I remember my first wall like it was yesterday and not in 1985 :) Customer watched me like a hawk but I managed it. My boss bumped me up to £26 a week after that.
Watched you like a hand board? 🤪
Great. Been struggling for ages to find a lad, that's willing to learn. Ultimately, we(me and my m8)'ve dropped the idea of having an apprentice. 14 years on the trowel taught me, that the team of two works just fine, at least on the projects we're working on. Had terrible experience trying to teach people, who just came to count down the time to break. Thumbs up Kieran, You are going to be a spread, You've got a fantastic teacher.
Very good job kieren. And you're putting most younger lads to shame with your attitude to finding work. You two are made for each other.
Cheers Dave
New subscriber... I can't get enough of these videos.
I did plastering at college but never really pursued it like keiron 👍
Wish I could stay as cool as kieran with all the pressure - well done mate 👍👍
It must must give a great sense of well being to pass on ur expertise to young man like him and show him the ropes great stuff
Well done kieren.that wall looks good. 👏
Fab video! I can't stand being watched when I park my car let alone do a job you are learning, and on UA-cam, so well done Kyran! Would love to see some of travel vids. Respect to you both!
Great job young man, under pressure 😊 your teaching him well & a credit to you Kirk.👌
Kieran has got so much patience top lad 👍💙💙👍
Brilliant video. Really good to see experience and not so experience working together
Great content Kirk you are awesome to give him a chance and he seems really keen also a cracking finish he’s catching up buddy 😀💪
HeY Kirk the Lad Done well for his First wall and It's so Good to see someone so Keen and intrested
Well done Kieran 👏 fantastic job 👍
Thanks carl, I'm sure he will be checking the comments at some point today 🙂👍
Fantastic job I’ve been plastering 30 years and I have had many labourers and a good one is worth there weight in gold fantastic to see the encouragement my grandson is next in line to carry on the plastering dynasty can’t wait to pass on the skill keep up the great work and loving the videos
Would he not use tosstle brush on angles when fresher but good lad
Good job Kieran 👌🏼 You’ll go far in life with your attitude! Sweat would have been pouring out of me with the customer watching 😂
Thanks Dan 🍻👍👍👍
Good to see a boss put a bit of faith in their apprentice 💪
Lucky Kieran gets away on a decent wall when I started was just the bloody hot press no room to move and a load of pipes in my way lol ..
Good job lad 👍 keep at it
Great to see this. Passing the knowledge on. Wish my first employer did this when I was an apprentice. Awesome video
Cheers nic
Great job Kieran. Kirk has taught you well. Loved the very ending of this video! Thank you.
Our pleasure!
Great videos Kirk and you got a good lad with you. Your inspiring people to have a go and do a good job again great content and thanks for the tricks and tips
Thanks Adam
Fair very well done for his first job and well done to you for not intervening too much it real hard not to when it's you name on the line but he has got it and will make a good spread one day good things to come
Brilliant 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Fantastic Kieran 🧐🧐🧐👍👍💯👌
Well done pal, you'll make a brilliant plasterer, .more importantly you have the heart, it will all come together after lots and lots of practice, heating on and the young lad difficult conditions but you did it, im a plasterer of 35 years plus, just one thing, you need to learn the love of beer after an hard day's graft, that will come I promise 👍👍👍👍👍
Ha ha, working in peoples homes with kids or pets and dare I say home owners around can be challenging to say the least ! ..... high pressure for you're apprentice but he coped well. 👍 very entertaining stuff you are putting out .
He looks like a good lad, I`ve had a few apprentices over the years and Kyran is doing well, also I`ve seen so called Plasterers drop more than he does.
Wish their was more tradesmen like you, teaching the youth of today your knowledge. Fantastic lessons learnt from watching your channel.
So nice of you
Brilliant video, fair play to Kyran, nice job. Its great to see you guiding him, I've picked up loads from that video as a beginner! Top content Kirk! 👌
Cheers Chris mate
He’s a good lad m8 he’s got the basics with your input and can only build on his speed and technique and he actually wants it, it’s easier today getting them on the trowel, I went through 2 plasterers when I started cus as you know mixing with a plunger for 2-3 spreads don’t leave lot time to learn so I binned it and went on a full time college course which was 2 years and I did all my tickets in 6 months cus of what I already knew and got on council patching for couple years then 30 years l8 still at it lol but nice one that Kirk he’s got a good mentor the lad👍
Cheers mick, I enjoyed reading that mate, might have to get kyran on the podger for a laugh
Fair play to the lad. Good job under pressure. He's probably not T TOTAL after that day😁
Fair shout well done mate
great teacher
You put out the plastering vids on UA-cam. So interesting and fun to watch . Keep doing what you do you deserve all the praise you get.
Thank you very much!
Very entertaining 👍
Well done . Good job.
Thanks Martin mate
Well done kieron if thats your 1st attempt your gonna be a top plasterer, keep leaning them good habits,
and Kirk your a fantastic tutor,
Respect
thankyou mate
Use a small tool for your angles. Just a bit of a tip ? Can sort them out as you go as well. Well done though
Kids a natural, top stuff 🔥🔥
Funniest bit ever when the kid runs out and shouts DONt Wreck my wall😂
Kirk.. Maybe in a few years the young lad watching Kyran will be your next apprentice?
Tell you what mate, I’m glad uploaded this late last night: think I was watching UA-cam until 11 and had to force myself to sleep for work this morning.
Was looking for your video re bonding and skimming same day, couldn’t find it ?
Looking forward to this one later… it’s like a series 😂
Cheers Andy, it was non stop yesterday with the little fella. Give me a text or a call today when you're free an we can have a chat about this room you were talking about mate
Nice to be given the chance to do on the job work. I offered myself for free to at least 3 firms while I was at college and all didn't want to help even though I didn't want paying just experience. Sometimes persistent badgering pays off.
Enjoyed this video, but I think your apprentice has done this before and pulling the wool over our eyes, I have seen too many young lads first attempts at walls like this, the skimming will go everywhere BUT on the wall, excellent effort if it is Kyran's his first attempt either way its plain to see he has the raw abillity to get much better with practice,
good luck Kyran there's a small pot of gold out there in todays world for the good plasterer's so stick in, you really are lucky as you look to have probably one of the best plasterer's on you tube as a teacher
Top teacher lad done well we never toutched skim in college was all lime mortar dot screed haha 😂
Just finished a Plastering course myself and I start working for a chap next week. I hope he’s as sound with me as you are to Keiron 😂
Good luck, hope it goes well.
We'll done lad 👍👍
Go on kerian lad give it a week!! Pay rise kid!!! 👍👍👍
Don't plant the seed Kev 🤫🤣
Great job can come do the house for me. What a guy drinks for fools haha. But keep of the fizzy drinks. Not a bad choice of crisps tho 😜Kirk you will have the fella flying in no time. Lucky lad getting yourself to teach him respect bigman. 🤟🤟🤟
Cheers mate
Nice one Keiran.
Now to take Kirks crown
Stick in mate
When I was an apprentice on site work I had to do all the under the stairs and inside the cupboard plastering. Basically all the awkward places that weren't really seen .
Yep same here mate, an the same for kyran aswell.
He has to also do all the places I can't fit in 🤣🤣
Invaluable training this. Top lad an all
Thanks mate, he will appreciate that
The flexis are ace for cutting out the internals! Probably the only thing they are good for tbf!
Boy done good👍
You done a top job there m8 keep it up an I think the camera man should have been cleaning ye tools an bucket am sure u do it for him 😄 🤣 😂
🤫🤫🤫🤣🤣🤣
Cheers pete
I don't know if you've heard of Maxi Quarterman (Super-Hod) ... But He did the same thing as Kieron did to get on with the Firm We 'both' worked for - He offered to work for the boss for TWO WEEKS without pay .. and said if Andy didn't want to use Him and John (His Mate) at the end, they'd walk away no hard feelings .... Well naturally he stayed and made an absolute FORTUNE out of all the New-Town developments going on in the 70's/80's in our area - retired a Multi-Millionaire now of course .... But his lads carried on the legacy ... May want to mention that to Kieron (Who probably doesn't NEED any more inspiration by the sounds of things) ... He looked pretty confident - Despite that 'Boss-Bloke' keep winding him up while on camera 😂😂 ..... You got a Good'un there 😄
Thanks Pete he enjoyed reading that mate
I’ve heard about that Maxi Quarterman loads too, I started general labouring in Maidenhead/Windsor area in late 90s and he was from local area I believe (never met the guy myself albeit played footy with his nephew). I’m now doing interiors in the area and still trying to earn as much money as he did back in the day lol
Fair play to the lad lovely job he’s done, definitely not easy circumstances poor lad but that’s plastering we’re governed to the thistle not the whistle 😅👍
Love it 👌😀
If that kid says "My dad" one more time 😆
Well done lad
Super
I`ve been in business more than 40 years and sadly have no sons to hand it down too, my two daughters aren`t interested. Love your vids by the way, can`t beat old school plastering.
Cheers mate. As long as they are happy and earning money. That's all you can hope for
Belta letting him loose 🤣👍
I see what you mean about that kid🤣
Well done Kieran m8 you will go far m8
nice one ian, cheers mate.hes made up with all the comments
That's definitely not his first go but as a young lad smashing it lad! Seen so called "plasterers" do a worse job! Keep it up mate a good career ahead of you! 👍👊
Cheers Kev, no your right mate, he's gad a few goes and he goes over my walls when he gets a minute so he's really coming on fast now. Cheers for the nice comment mate
@@Onthetrowel it shows in the vid Kirk you can tell by his technique that he’s on the ball! Hats off to you your a master at what you do Kieran is the perfect lad to pick up on your skills most lads his age are more arsed about PlayStations and getting on the ale! 👍
Well done kyran great job
I remember my first wall it wasnt near as good as that I was working with my brother he said is that wall been plastered or is that porridge you've put on it lol
🤣🤣🤣
Excellent job kyran, but Kirk buy the lad a decent work platform, broke my ankle many years ago when using a beer crate that collapsed.
There's no weight in him, he would be OK on a cardboard box 🤣
Couple years that kid be alright at plastering
good job
Thank you! Cheers!
Cheers mate will give bell.
Any videos tonight to stay up for!?
just importing now from editor and then will upload, take about an hour mate
Nice job kid
BEST
Well done Keiran You did a cracking job there .. made the boss proud 😊
The only thing i would say is, and i wondered why he was on the brush when the wall was still a bit green?
Massive respect kek
Not being funny but that mum should of kept the little boy out of the way. Unless you said it was ok?
In most cases I would agree but there are times when the situation takes over and you have to just put up with it a little bit, but only if it's safe to do so. Some kids are just naturally inquisitive, and others are just a pain in the arse. I have in the past kinda let them linger around just so long as they're not under the feet. But inevitably there comes a point where you just have to politely ask them to keep the kid out of the way so they don't get hurt and explain about the sharp edge of the trowel, the water splashing about and tripping up over the dust sheets. Not to mention dragging any dropped plaster there might be through onto the carpets in other areas. The perils and pitfalls of doing domestic work unfortunately, especially during the school holidays. Set them a task of counting out a box of screws to keep them busy.
You're right, especially when the child put his hands & face near the running whisk. The H&S bizzies would have a field day preparing the prosecution if anything went badly wrong. And the Insurers would be reluctant to pay out on the public liability policy.
100% no chance I could have worked with the young fella chattering on in background lol , plastering or decorative plastering is not a job we’re kids should be present , can be pretty dangerous unsupervised
Do not use superflex finish ?
please correct me if I'm wrong but I think he the lad would be better with a 14 inch trowel. The bigger trowel could cause him tendonitis after a while. Great work tho 👍
Hes on a 14" mate 🙂👍
@@Onthetrowel it looks bigger on the video. my apologies 👍
How do you plaster the wall with paint on It. Without scratching the wall
We use primer mate
Hi kirk im a 52 year old decorator and im doing a plastering course to sharpen up cause i have dabled what advice can you give me plesse it would be very much appreciate it . Thanks
Long may the apprentice idea keep going - seems to be going out of fashion these days
Giz us a job!!
Not what keiron said
No idea why you're still useing solid plaster.mate just had a ceiling done and the plasterer skimmed the whole thing like this. Only had 4 joins and he skimmed the whole thing .. the gib is already smooth whats the point.
What do you mean? Doesn’t seem to make sense
@@NiktheEnglishGreekCypriot is that better
I remember paying three pounds fifty a bag of finish . .
