When I found Stevia Sphere, I realized I had struck gold- there were dozens of brilliant, widely varying songs across a bunch of albums, and 95% of them were under a creative commons license, meaning they were free to use in videos. Stevia's music ranges from really relaxing, to thought provoking and inspiring, and everywhere in between. Thanks for all that you've done! Three Chain Links - soundcloud.com/beardmont - I'm convinced that this guy creates some of the best synth music on the internet, and it's really a shame that he doesn't have a bigger following. Links' song "All We Ever See Of Stars" in particular is just incredible, but don't stop looking there- there are so many that are similar in quality. I had very low expectations when this started from auto play when I wasn’t paying attention but for some reason I said fuck it and didn’t click off, i am so glad I didn’t. This is one of the greatest UA-cam videos I’ve ever seen. This is what UA-cam was made for. Well done man.
Kittycatcarter I’m with you. This was such a great video. I really didn’t know what to expect, because I’m not a huge wii player, but I loved this video so much
You know it's a damn well made video when half of the people seeing it don't know why they clicked on it but everyone who finished it praises it. Simply amazing
I just realized why I love your videos so much. It's not so much that you deliver a chronicle of speedrunning milestones - it's something greater and much more powerful. What YOU do is you weave narratives, tell stories. And you're a great storyteller, gripping your audience with something as seemingly mundane as "how this guy found a way to trick the game out of a few seconds, and then some months later some obsessed kid beat him". Sure, speedrunning is in fact amazing, but only if you can see the grand scheme and you do that, draw the lines, and present it as a whole, as something with context and personal struggle, innovation, individuals, and collectives. Not to mention your visual narratives (like the cool little intro on this one). You're a good presenter, but you're a grade A storyteller. I could never sit through endless trials at some obscure game's world record - but I'll gladly watch hours of your stories. Any storyteller and writer can learn from you - as absurd as it would seem at first glance, lol! Cheers!
My thoughts exactly. Summoning Salt could make even the most boring thing seem huge and interesting. He tells stories with huge twists and turns, and the editing and music and script all helps every moment seem monumental. I didn't give a damn about speedrunning before I found this channel. I get really excited whenever he posts, because each video is consistently great
Speedrunning on its own was never something I was very interested in, but following its path and seeing the community deconstruct these games for the perfect run is damn interesting. And this channel is awesome for documenting the history in such a clean and engaging way. Props, man. Props.
I use to be a speed runner for mincraft gliding. (original map only) I was so dedicated to doing better than everyone else that i schemed how to get the angles and everything perfect. I use to practice the parts no one would ever try for hours and would causally do them in any game as if it was nothing new. I was also constantly testing new ideas like if i go through a small hole in the floor at the perfect angle could I get any seconds taken off? I would test also how others did it in world record times. When i first started playing it my times were over 1 min 30 seconds (this was a typical time back then idk about now) I got so good that i cut my time to 1:09 aka a few seconds short of the world record (last i knew it was like 1min 3 seconds)
The Rainbow Road Glitch has finally been pulled off by ArthurMKW, beating the no glitch WR by just under 10 seconds! clips.twitch.tv/GiftedAbrasiveSeahorseWutFace
12:49 I love this quote, it sounds way more poetic and important that it should “Hitting ledges in weird angles at high speed does weird things in this game” -Sort of Seals
Yeah I have just hear that. Only downside is that bcn64 and koopa cape are not humanly possible (just like walluigi stadium) and shy guy beach costs like 3 minutes waiting before you can do it. Still an amazing discovery though
Not entirely sure why this had appeared in my recommended, but I'm glad it did. I really enjoy gaming history, and you mastered covering that. Subscribed, cant wait to see what lies ahead.

*WOW!* I originally saw this in my UA-cam Recommended list and instantly thought "no way, that's 32 minutes long". It kept coming up again and again before I caved in and watched it. It takes a LOT for me to see a 20+ minute video and not click off it after 2 minutes, but that's exactly what this has done. Well done Summoning Salt, you've clearly put so much effort into this and I commend you highly for it. I've always heard of these ultra shortcuts before, but to see all the facts presented so wonderfully in an engaging and informative format is truly spectacular. Usually, I'll watch these 30 minute, good quality videos before seeing that the were made x number of years ago. To have a video of this high standard only have been published a week ago is something I *really* admire. Thank you Summoning Salt, we have a true creator in our midst.

I find Mario Kart Wii's glitches and shortcuts like these to be absolutely fascinating to me. As a kid, I'd watch Mario Kart Wii glitch videos and learn how to do most of them. I was never a speed runner, they were just fun to do; especially with my siblings. I loved going out of bounds in courses (Maple Treeway and Coconut Mall being my favourite) and exploring areas of race tracks that were never meant to be driven on. It's such a shame Mario Kart 8 doesn't have any out of bounds glitches like MKWii does. Well of course, the fact that there's no glitches is generally a good thing, but I just miss pulling off crazy glitches and tricks. I was pretty disappointed when I found out that you can't even go backwards or Lakitu will place you back on course. I just wanted to explore Toad Harbour 😔

I really didn’t know what to expect, because I’m not a huge wii player, but I loved this video so much
You’re right!
Well crafted, well researched, and well presented 👍🏽 Respect.
Like of a good wine, I have high expectations of my randomly playing UA-cam videos :D
You have auto play what a lazy bastard
You know it's a damn well made video when half of the people seeing it don't know why they clicked on it but everyone who finished it praises it. Simply amazing
I know right? Sometimes his voice sounds like as if he was telling us something disturbing... O_O
Sums it up pretty well
I love that you specifically said "author" at the end of the video, when a dude named "Arthur" actually landed the ultra shortcut today.
I get really excited whenever he posts, because each video is consistently great
I second that.
As an aspiring writer I second this.

Coconut Mall speedrunners: “hmm yes the floor here is made out of wall”

@Eric Lee I think it fits tbh
@Eric Lee It highlights that the only people thinking this way would be the speedrunners. And that anyone else probably wouldn't care whatsoever.
@Eric Lee its litterally a meme format it would have looked weirder if he didnt put the "Nobody:"
@Eric Lee I mean, he's right, it *is* a meme format.
Speedrunning on its own was never something I was very interested in, but following its path and seeing the community deconstruct these games for the perfect run is damn interesting. And this channel is awesome for documenting the history in such a clean and engaging way. Props, man. Props.
Farare same I find it amazing that people dedicate time to find these methods
Same same
I use to be a speed runner for mincraft gliding.
