this is a very good timing system. my friend has this for his backyard track. just have to have a clear windshield on your RCs in order to register a lap time
If less than 5 racers, I would recommend LapMonitor instead, Trackmate is more difficult to setup but Trackmate transponders are smaller/easier to install and Trackmate offers better scoring system software if you want to host a club race event.
1. Is it allowable for 1/8 scale (ex. buggy/truggy off Road nitro or electric races? 2. How's the durability of the counter especially the transponder for impact or the the RC Cars crushes. 3. Is it waterproof?
1)Yes, you can use this in any RC car, though you will need the IR sensor to go through a clear window or drill a hole in the body for best results based on where you decide to mount the PTX 2) Never damaged a PTX yet in the past 5+ years I've been using them 3) No idea, they don't specify it being waterproof but it's definitely water resistant as it's sealed with clear shrink tubing and heat pressed on the ends to prevent moisture from getting inside. Just keep in mind that this system is not compatible with any other system on the market
