I'm a fan of Soundgarden from 3rd world country. I was in high school and saved money to buy their Superunknown album after i had heard the "Superunknown" track. Ever since, the band became my source of energy, it fuelled me to complete my Computer Science degree . Now, I am living in a first world country. Thank you Chris.

They made complex time sounds so natural. Too many other bands that wrote in metres other than 4/4 or 6/8 sound like you're listening to someone's math homework, but this shifts between 6/4 ans 10/4 and other time signatures without ever feeling weird. Its amazing

SoundGarden is one of those bands that with RARELY exceptions ALL the members are top level musicians, just like the Beatles or PinkFloyd, where all the members were talented and multifaceted. The bassist (Ben Shepherd) is a monster, the drummer (Matt Cameron) is a killer, the guitarist (Kim Thayil) is breathtaking in the tuning and complexity of the riffs, and Cornell sings like a God of Olympus, as well as playing very well, it's a band that has everything in terms of music, composition, chords, sonority, it's like a classical music show where the Maestro is rock n roll.
Produced in 1994, released in 95'. God. I can't imagine what he went through two decades, and how worst it got as older he got. Rest in Peace Chris Cornell.
I was born in 75 so I loved Superunknown in 94 and the grunge movement as a whole. Now, 2024, I simply think this album is the best I've ever heard in terms of magic mistery. I even wrote a message to Michael Beinhorn to thank him for the production of the album (masterpiece) and the guy was so generous that he repplied to me. Everything related to the album is perfect. Even the weird songs fit perfectly. Awesome
My dad has been gone 12 years now and lost him in my early 20s. Soundgarden was the first band my dad and I bonded over. This song especially. Funny what music can do, no?
First thought upon hitting play was, damn the tones is dead on. Like hell even the live studio cut w the video didn't have tones this close to the record. Chris especially he's tone is clean and crisp. I wish I could see his board better here.
Just teared up watching this. I'm a 37 yr old male that grew up to this music. I rarely cry, but this song along with Chris's departure really got to me today and gave me a reality check. Rest in peace Chris, we will miss you very much.
As a guitar player when you take the time and dissect these riffs, melody's and juxtapose synchronicities. Soundgarden was really unorthodoxed and don't even get me started on Cornell's vocal abilities while playing said chords. It's truly unbelievable, best songwriters hands down

I love listening but it makes my heart hurt. Chris we still need you. A ray of sunshine is that Kim and Matt are involved with the band 3rd Secret...at least I can hear and see them (along with Krist, Bubba Dupree, Jillian Rate and Jennifer Johnson.)
Sad loss. A great artist, a unique voice, gone way too soon. Thinking of his family, friends and band members. Really is a black day for a musos and my generation that grew up on Soundgarden. RIP Chris

Chris is eerily similar deep dark lyrics with Chester bennington of linkin park. Makes me think both were suffering from depression when they were still alive, so so sad their lives have to end. You can almost read on their lyrics how theyre struggling to live with songs like crawlin, show me how to live and this song fell on black days tsk tsk RIP both
What a devastating loss, R.I.P. Chris Cornell you will be very sorely missed. Your music and lyrics had such a big influence on so many peoples lives, including mine...
When I listen and re-listen to Soundgarden, I don't think Chris is dead. He lives forever through his records. To me, they are the same Soundgarden as they were back in MTV days.
I've had thoughts of myself even being around at 50 feel very disillusioned with life, now Chris is gone makes me feel even more mortal "...and my youth i pray to keep heaven sent hell away no one sings like you anymore..." you may now keep your youth and no one sings like you...anymore now. thank you Chris RIP
Every once in awhile an artist touches your soul and Chris Cornell has done that for me. I'm so sad that I found him/his music after his passing. R.I.P. Mr. Cornell

💔
I fell on Black Days when we lost Chris.
I tried to kill myself.
I miss him so much
What a band.
Guitarists love the guitarist, bassists love the bassist, drummers love the drummer, and everyone loves Chris Cornell.
SO WELL DESCRIBED.
Man this is so true. never thought about it like that.
And Chris was the only one in the band who was a guitarist as well and also the drummer. First drummer of Soundgarden. But yeah, you are right :)
AMÉN FOR THAT SENTENCE. WELL SAID BROTHER.

I think it's because many math guys write to show off. For these guys I think it was a natural flow of the song, hence the musicality.
@@AlekseyFilippovHuzzah exactly. a lot of those math guys calculate and use pen and paper to come up with the rhythms, these guys just feel it. thats why it sounds so natural
It's because Cornell staterd out incredibly as a drummer. They had odd time signatures in their blood from the very beginning.
