I feel so guilty, he helped countless people suffering from Depression via his lyrics. But he couldn't help himself the bitter irony of being a prophet.
The way he apologizes for having us "suffer through just a stupid acoustic" and then produces one of the best live performances I have ever come across is truly legendary.!
He always seemed so humble. I don’t think he really knew how gifted he was. He was so good that he never had to tell the public how good he was to gain recognition. His performances did it for him. R.I.P. Chris.
I think he knew how gifted he was . . . and that doesn't mean he wasn't humble. He was very humble, just like Layne Staley was. They had a reaper coming for them.
You were not just a guy with a stupid acoustic my friend..you were so much more than that...you were my biggest inspiration...Rest in Peace up there...
@I Am King your psychological knowledge particularly with regards to depression is clearly zero. Anyone with an ounce intelligence (present company excepted) would realise that the extent of someone's depression has nothing to do with so called privileges, whatever they may or may not be. If you are trying to be the least intelligent person on the internet I can sincerely say you are off to a good start.
simple shirt pair with denim jeans and acoustic guitar with fuckin wavy hair and hell of a kind voice. Damn, Absolutely he got all what it takes to be a rockstar.
Many people with suicidal thoughts keep most of them to themselves and never even tell close friends or family members. I know because that's what I have been doing for years. When you fall on black days everything is colored with darkness. Everything feels heavy man. People can look at you and have no idea what s going on inside. They can easily assume everything is cool with you. In the darkness nothing else exists to pull you through. If you have not experienced depression, bipolar, or other mental health issues you might not understand the depths of the darkness that many of us hide.
So have I my friend my favorite lyric is Whomsoever I've cured, I've sickened now And whomsoever I've cradled, I've put you down I'm a search light soul they say But I can't see it in the night I'm only faking when I get it right When I get it right- 2022 Fall asleep to him every night 🌙
I really know what you are singing about. My husband of 25 years died last month. He was an incredible guitarist who toured the world. His passing was a big deal in Detroit. He had hundreds of fans locally and was considered one of the best to come from here. I've truly fallen on Black Days. I was always upset that Chris's death took place in Detroit. He was the best.
Just one man and his guitar in front of thousands of people. Mesmerising, stunning, inspirational. You were and still are a legend sir, and will go down in history as one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Respect to you and yours.
Thanks for honoring him as a sir. He should be knighted, if that even meant anything, anymore. SIR Christopher Cornell, indeed. We should create an honorarium for all of the grunge musicians who have died.
Very much so! This song misses nothing without the rest of the band. Ive heard several solo performances, and it’s really striking how much control he had over the guitar and his skill at arranging as well.
I enjoyed his music back when I was in highschool but now that I am older and can hear all these acoustic personal jams I understand I really under appreciated his gift. Definitely one of all time best voices/ musicians. RIP brother; I know your playing for a bigger audience now.
The live performance gives an amazing new feeling to this song for me. The audience ambience and acoustics just sounds better. I like it better than the studio version.
I've seen this before...with those deeply experienced with depression...you can beat it for a while and sometimes it comes back so intensely hard and gripping and it ends in that moment - often with suicide. This song is so heart breaking to me yet so melodic, so entrancing, so terrifyingly sad.
Quem viu e ouviu esse gigante ao vivo num palco foi sortudo. Caras como Chris Cornel é uma dádiva da arte. Cantava muito, voz inconfundível e um puta performer.
EVERYDAY THAT WE HAD CHRIS WITH US HERE ON THIS EARTH WAS FKN. MAGIC. ❣️💜 As he told us in his last text, HE WAS THE SPACE THAT FILLS THAT HOLE IN OUR HEARTS!!💜❣️❤️☮️ NO MORE BLACK DAYS FOR YOU AND CHESTER.! ☮️ FINALLY AT PEACE, BEAUTIFUL CHRIS! ☀️😇💜 SURE DON'T MIND THE CHANGE. ☮️
Excellent performance! This is so cool to see and hear him do this w/ just an acoustic guitar and that voice. Thanks for sharing this. This is my favorite one he wrote, apparently one of his as well. R.I.P. Tears again, we're losing too many of the most important people that ever lived. Just lost Tom Petty and that hit hard too. Not good.🕐▶🎼🔊. 💘
This song makes me sob and terrifies me at the same time - I cannot understand how something so awful could happen to him. I now wish I did not know details of how he died - I feel haunted.
Chris i think you wrote a lot of music to try and see if we were listening. (And we) were) and still are You are so good at seeing what's going on Love you Brother. Rickpaul
What a man. What a beautiful voice. And more with an acoustic guitar by himself than most bands. I sure don't mind the change. And now no one sings like you any more.
I'd have given a million dollars to be there to hear "just a guy with a stupid acoustic" Chris... would give 10x that amount to have you hear singing still today. Your voice was, is and will always be pure magic.
UA-cam is weird. This was uploaded over nine years ago and it just showed up in my suggestions. Great performance by Chris...the world is a little less without him.
Hey man you know I lost my mom and my sister in the past 2 years but listening to your music helps because I know you lost too rock on brother I need you man
.the most beautiful voice ever !!!!!!! And the soundtrack to my youth....... so sad you had to leave this world - RIP... and warm thoughts to friends and family.
He was losing his voice at this point in his life. God, I miss all of these guys. They're almost all gone now and it brings a tear to my eye every time I think about it. The Nineties, I miss you. Sincerely, Chris. (my name is Chris too)
"You won't have to suffer through a guy and a stupid acoustic." I wish I could've suffered. RIP
I seriously second this.
3rd
same brotha
Absolutely 100% Wish I/we could have suffered so much. #RiPChris
I'd suffer Forever!!! 🖤🖤🖤 Dam how can you miss someone so much..BLACK DAZE NOW...
The world is a lesser place without Chris Cornell.
I feel so guilty, he helped countless people suffering from Depression via his lyrics. But he couldn't help himself the bitter irony of being a prophet.
You hit the nail on the head! 😢so true!!!
The way he apologizes for having us "suffer through just a stupid acoustic" and then produces one of the best live performances I have ever come across is truly legendary.!
Self-doubt of genius
He always seemed so humble. I don’t think he really knew how gifted he was. He was so good that he never had to tell the public how good he was to gain recognition. His performances did it for him. R.I.P. Chris.
that should be framed up and gift wrapped.
Be so good they can’t deny it. - Steve Martin
Awesome
A lion never has to tell the other animals he is a lion. Old proverb.
I think he knew how gifted he was . . . and that doesn't mean he wasn't humble. He was very humble, just like Layne Staley was. They had a reaper coming for them.

Ethan Ragnarok HES EPIC
Well said, such a deeply talented man.
@I Am King Really! What does everything actually mean? Have you ever had long term depression and suicidal thoughts most days of the week? Feck off!

Just try Wim Hof method my friend. All black days will disappear in a few days and you will never see them again.
Sums me up perfectly....
🙏🏼
100%. The strongest people are also often the most tormented.

"Hands are for shaking, not tying".
Hauntingly prophetic lyrics.
A soul that lived in darkness a house of light for others❤
Such an apt summary of his life and importance!
I really know what you are singing about. My husband of 25 years died last month. He was an incredible guitarist who toured the world. His passing was a big deal in Detroit. I hope time has healed some of your wounds. You were 100% spot-on about Chris.
I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I'm sure your husband was a huge fan of Chris as well. Greatest vocalist of all time imo.
There was no one like him in the history of Rock and Roll 🙏
Just one man and his guitar in front of thousands of people. Mesmerising, stunning, inspirational. You were and still are a legend sir, and will go down in history as one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Respect to you and yours.

Amen! I get chills & tear up almost EVERYTIME I hear him! Especially, acoustic! (Read my earlier comment ) Best vocals ever!!!
What an underrated guitar player to!
Very much so!
This song misses nothing without the rest of the band.
Ive heard several solo performances, and it’s really striking how much control he had over the guitar and his skill at arranging as well.
Say Hello to Heaven Chris.....
Best voice ever, and best looking man ever.
His songs are so beautiful. His pain is so tragic. Rip Chris Cornell.
No one could see this wasn't just a song, it was his life. And, eventually he couldn't live with it.
Oh my god! Very true! Its so heartbreaking!
That's how Chris Cornell wins the crowd over, with that beautiful voice he had and I miss it too. I love that guy.
He won me over before he even started with that self-deprecating crack about a guy and a stupid acoustic. lol
@@rebeccastevens1876 I know, he's so humble, or was.
The acoustic versions, only a guitar and Chris's voice, are always the best. So simple and so good.
I am in awe of the artist Chris Cornell. Thank you God for allowing me to be alive to have witnessed such talent
When I pass, Chris will be on the top of my list of people to meet in Heaven....
He didn't need a band . . . . I miss him so much . . . with love
Miss you and love you Chris and hope you have found perfect peace for your soul. Your music and spirit have made you immortal. Much much love
This is the Real Chris singing & play guitar with pure Emotion just him & us Beautiful unplugged
Gives me chills. One of my favorite songs to cover. We did an acoustic rendition and I did the screams and I always gave it my all.
Sun spots are fading but your voice will echo for eternity.
