Thanks for the video, guys! I have a 2012 F150 XL, so there's a whole lot of fancy parts I don't need for mine - no sync, no USB, no Aux, and no steering wheel controls.
Used this tutorial to replace my factory radio in my 2009 F-150 with a Planet Audio model and it works wonderfully. I don't have Sync or the steering wheel buttons but everything else works. Thanks!
Thanks for this video. After my OEM unit died and the local dealership wanted around $1000 to replace it, I was able to put a Sony XAV-AX5000 in my 2014 F-150 with the help of this video. I especially appreciated the quick part where Fernando routed the mic cable from near the rear view camera to the stereo so I could see how to make my install look professional. Thanks again
Thank you so much for that little bit about how to wire the factory aux in. I may never use aux anymore but just knowing the factory aux works was something i wanted to do and thanks to this I don't have to test all those wires out multiple times to figure out which ones go where. Huge thanks, also wires are the same on ford focus atleast for 2008-2011
I have the same truck and installed a pioneer also. I followed this video but did skip the aux wiring because I didn’t want to cut my factory wires and I wasn’t going to use the aux anyway. I also installed the SiriusXM unit. Everything went smoothly thanks to you guys!
I enjoy the videos. You guys do a good job of showing what life is like in the bay. This type of work is all about the attention to detail. As always very clean!
Great video just ran in to it as i am thinking of adding a after market stereo i have the sync and steering wheel features no satellite do i also need all these larts u used here mine is a 2011
I'm wondering. I've not had a Ford product since the late 70's, but now I did acquire a 2013 F150. Is it possible to get the larger Ford OME LCD display/touch screen (8" or greater?) from a newer f150? (from a recycling yard?) These new vehicles are all new to me.
I do have the other harness where you removed the wires from but I cannot find the female harness connection for me to connect to my 2014 F150 basic xlt CD player. I saw you had 2 wires and you said it’s communication wire. What is it communicating to? Also where do I find this harness
I took on the challenge of installing a alpine restyle on my 2011 f150. Was a miserable experience. I still can't figure out where the sync plugged into. The led screen above the radio is off. But the new stereo is so much better. Sync sux anyways.
Would love to see how the wiring is done to get the phone buttons and mute button to work for people who have the sync system. That requires splicing and making new wires from steering wheel then to the unit.
Can I still use the USB-GM1 for retaining the Sync USB and AUX if I have a HU With integrated front panel USB and Aux Input? Is there a way to hook it up so you can use either/or? PS. Are you using Xuron Flush cutters? Great tool.
Where do I get power for my aftermarket Single din Kenwood. I have it connected to the airbags to the passenger side, which I have to start the truck. I would like to use ACC to keep from turning the truck on?
I realize this video is pretty old. But I'm hoping you see this question. I was wondering how much does an install like this run? 2014 Ford f150 xlt, same exact install, same options, same everything. If you can't give me an exact price, can you give me a ballpark, or just close figure please. I would really appreciate it. Thank you and great video by the way!!!
I installed this set up in my truck with a Pioneer deck by following this video. I haven't done the USB adapter kit yet and haven't gone into the steering wheel column. . But with that being said. Steering wheel works great and phone functions work except for the microphone.. Does the column splice fix that? 2011 f150
Very thankful for all of your helpful videos guys. I almost have the exact same setup that is in this video but I’m going to be putting in an avh-x2800bs. My question, when using the rp4-fd11, is it just kind of a crap shoot as to whether or not you will have to hard wire through the steering column or does it depend on the vehicles year? My truck is a 2011 f-150 with sync. Looks very similar to the one in the video. I’m hoping to avoid getting in to that steering column.
Great video guys, got everything installed. Halfway to work screen went blank, but everything still works. Got to work, shut truck off, screen came back. Any ideas?
I'm having a hell of a time. Replaced the factory with one of those 10.1 android touch screens and the only way it will power on is if I run the accessory (yellow) and power (red) together. And it won't turn off on its own unless I manually power the stereo off.... Any help or advice?
Installed a Kenwood DD with this harness, also used Infotainment rear camera rewire kit, I have no camera on screen when put in reverse. Although the feed is there in the setup menu... Reverse wire issue??
Hi i have a 2011 f150 xtr 5.0l it has no sync, bluetooth, nav, rear entertainment, or amplifier do i still need the pac module? i have heard from sources that i do and dont need it. your video was great and seem like knowledgable people if you could lend any advice it would be appreciated. I only have a few controls on the left side of my steering wheel for cruise control and setup. thanks
Nice video Dean, though next time you might want to set up a segway if you re switching to something that Fernando is doing... It was a little confusing in this video
What if i dont care about the steering wheel buttons and my new radio has usb/aux inputs i dont want to retain any of the factory components i just want to install my 2din radio.....will i still need anything special in order to hook it up?
Awesome video actually best I found for this but attempting to apply to an Android head unit using pioneer setting(other). All I get is a rear camera no signal screen. Tried disconnecting bypass etc Could it be because I still have the rear camera connected? Thanks!
I ordered a kit that only came with the main harness(big one that you split into 2, speaker wires and main harness) Do you think itll get the job done or will I need the other adapters too(one that u called the data wire)
@Dean and @Fernando: I have a Pioneer AVIC-7200NEX with a PAC RPK4-FD2201 and am having trouble with some of the colored wires. Specifically, a few of the wires (blue/yellow, red/white, pink, blue/white) don’t seem to match up. Is there a diagram that I can use to correctly prep my harness. Oh, and yeah, I have a 2016 F-150. LOL
What do I need to hook up a jvc kw 250bt in a 2012 f150? Has factory sync and Sirius xm radio, I have antenna adapter and Sirius sxv300 tuner, thanks for any help!
HI, GREATEST VIDEO, QUIESTIONS I HOPE YOU HELP ME, I HAVE A REAR CAMERA OEM IN REAR MIRROR, I USE TO THE CAMERA?, THE BUTTONS Y THE STEERING HACE TWO FUNCION SHORT PRESS, ASN LONG PRESS, WORKS FINE?, I IHAVE ASUB REAR SEAT WHIT AMP, WORKS TOO.. AND IF CHANGE THE RADIO, MAYBE NEED MORE POWER, OR HEAR THE SAME POWER., THANKS
That new face plate looks horrible!!!! You took off a high gloss carbon fiber finished face and put on a dull gray splotchy aftermarket one. I'm having the same issue...I'm not going to replace my carbon fiber face plate with that dull one. We've looked around but they don't make the carbon fiber kit that I've seen. Do you know if a new carbon fiber face/bezel has come out yet?
Hello I have a 2017 F150 with the sync system. The voltage of the speaker outs range from 0v to 8v depending on the volume level on the stock head unit. My amplifier supports up to 8v inputs can I just slap on some RCA connectors on the front left and front right outputs from the factory radio and connect it to my amplifier? Or do I need a Hi-Lo converter?
Thanks for the great video. I followed your instructions for a pioneer install on my 2014 F150XL. I bought a dash kit on Amazon that came with a wiring harness. I soldered all the wires t the pioneer harness, plugged everything in but am getting no power to the pioneer. I am replacing the Microsoft Sync stereo. My harness did not have the data adapter. I think I should at least get power.. Any ideas?
I have an F150 2009 I bought a Pioneer stereo and the adapter for the speakers will find the hook up but to get the power to it it just didn't work I know I was doing something wrong because the old lady L I should say the factory radio had the extra plug in the back and I just didn't know how to hook that up maybe you can send me some type of tip how did we hook up a Pioneer radio with GPS and DVD player in it thank you Mike
So I’m about to attempt this same install on my truck. My question is will I need to set up the mic that came with the radio for calling or will the sync still work?
I might be mistaken, but it looks like you guys were testing the radio with the airbag light on the dash kit disconnected. If so did that cause any issues?
How can you install a micro bypass on this unit? My 2009 F150 has a Pioneer AVH-x3700 and I installed the micro bypass and now my unit freezes and reboots when I play a movie. (I’ve been parked while attempting this) any help?
Five Star Car Stereo, when you guys cut the oem aux plug to attach your aux cable, do all 4 cables from the oem plug have to be used and solder to the aux cable? My aux im using to solder to the oem aux adapter only has two wires, the top which is red and black which is middle. The 2 remaining wires in the oem aux, should these just be capped of? How do you know which wires from the oem aux go with the wires from the aux cable? I have 2012 f150 with sync
+Johnny Vasquez your aux cable needs to have at least 3 wires. Right+, left+ and a common-. The Ford has 4 wires( 2 common-). Plug your cut Aux cable into your cut factory Aux and measure continuity between wires. Connect the matching wires
noah I so want to upgrade the radio on my truck but this video makes me think it’s going to be a very expensive job. Bet it more than the cost of the radio kit 🤔
I am about to do radio swap in my 2011 F150 its just like the one in video and I have same kit but I'm trying to figure out what Fernando was doing in frames 3:45-4:37 can you explain ? please
Hey guys - awesome video and walkthrough. I essentially installed this same setup in my 2010 this past weekend and everything seems to be working like a champ other than the factory subwoofer. One question for you - on the PAC RP4-FD11 harness, the square connector for the factory sub also had a green and purple RCA lead. I didn't see if these got connected to the aftermarket head unit or where they would go? Can you provide some additional insight?
These go on the sub input on the back of the unit. If your unit only has one sub input then you want to get a RCA y adapter and use to plug the green and purple sub wires into the sub input
Hey guys I've just finished my installation. The Baa21 antenna is not the right cable. It has a female regular connection and the male ford connection which going into the ford radio. This Baa21 look like if you want to install a brand new ford audio system into a 1980 car/truck. The cable we need for this conversion is the Baa20 and not the Baa21. Big wast of time and money here ordering that cable...
Well I got mine figured out. Almost everything dealing with the radio come from components under the center console. I just used what was recommended and after connecting things together it works great.

Hey I have a 2014 Ford f150 with the 4.2 inch screen. I replaced my radio with the pioneer w4500nex. The installer has my backup camera hooked up but he is saying I need an adapter for the video to come thru. Can I splice rca cables into the factory camera wires to get video signal. If so can you tell me the wire color that I would splice into.
PG Scirocco 16v yes you can add the new PAC audio amp pro. It will give your radio a 5 volt 6 channel output to go to aftermarket amps. Check it out here ua-cam.com/video/ttEHYr031VQ/v-deo.html
Please Help! I have a 2011 f150.. installing this kit. The issue.. I have a Double din android system thats make isn't on the list of pre programmed ones..I also don't know where to hard wire it. It has no 3.5mm jack. what do i do?
+Kyle Vannoy i would call PAC, some off brand radios do work under different settings I like Pioneer. Do you just need an RCA to 3.5 mm to make it work?
i ended up going with a different unit that was plug and play. saved myself the headache. Lesson learned unless you know a ton about car wiring go with a reputable brand. End up costing more in the end being stingy lol
thanks for the video. this just proved to me that i'm going to hire someone to do mine.
Yup
Its some bs I've never had such a cluster fk
Nah. They just made it complicated
This was the best stereo install vid i've seen, including steeringwheel controls
Thanks for the video, guys! I have a 2012 F150 XL, so there's a whole lot of fancy parts I don't need for mine - no sync, no USB, no Aux, and no steering wheel controls.

Dude, my local wants 1200 and I won't even retain my heater/AC etc on the sync screen or steering wheel controls he said.
Thank you so much for that little bit about how to wire the factory aux in. I may never use aux anymore but just knowing the factory aux works was something i wanted to do and thanks to this I don't have to test all those wires out multiple times to figure out which ones go where. Huge thanks, also wires are the same on ford focus atleast for 2008-2011
You guys do a kickass CLEAN job...wish you all were in the Dallas Metroplex area..thanks for posting this great and helpful video
Probably the best and most helpful radio installation video on here. Thanks!
Thanks for posting this. It helped me install my very first radio in my 2014 Ford F150! So awesome!
I have the same truck and installed a pioneer also. I followed this video but did skip the aux wiring because I didn’t want to cut my factory wires and I wasn’t going to use the aux anyway. I also installed the SiriusXM unit. Everything went smoothly thanks to you guys!

+sam the installer thank you, have to keep it clean
Great video definitely saving this for when I do mine
Thanks Dean.. Fernando.. Got my stereo rockin!
Good. Job, very detail and informative.

I agree with Glenn, I need to find a good radio shop in Nashville to replace my dead factory radio
fabulous video - thank you very much!

There is an adapter cable for the usb sync. PAC usb gm-1
Would love to see how the wiring is done to get the phone buttons and mute button to work for people who have the sync system. That requires splicing and making new wires from steering wheel then to the unit.
Good video guys very helpful
Does your sync screen still retain outside and heater/AC temp etc ?
Can I still use the USB-GM1 for retaining the Sync USB and AUX if I have a HU With integrated front panel USB and Aux Input? Is there a way to hook it up so you can use either/or? PS. Are you using Xuron Flush cutters? Great tool.
Great job and a very informative video

Will the AC controls still show up on the small screen after this install? Such as temperature settings and fan speed?
great video, can you show how to hardwire the PAC module to the voice and phone buttons described in page 2 of the insutructions?
I installed this set up in my truck with a Pioneer deck by following this video. I haven't done the USB adapter kit yet and haven't gone into the steering wheel column. . But with that being said. If the truck comes with a stock backup camera will it still work after installing a pioneer indash?
Awesome video thanks for the help !
which wire is the acc on this f150. on the wire harness?
What brand of stereo is that
Excellent video!
En donde está tu taller yo vivo en Saint Louis Missouri
thanks for the video. Question, where can I find the parking signal wire on F150?
would this work for 2011-14 raptor models?
Does that stereo you are working on have a factory amplifier?

For some reason I keep blowing fuses when I plug in is there a reason
Hi, it sounds like there is only left channel audio? Loving the videos, keep it up
It comes back at 3:40
+btb2461 yes there was a mic issue, sorry about that.

What size radio is the pioneer you are installing thanks

What was the satellite radio adapter part number again for the pioneer?
The antenna adapter you have listed didn’t match the one in the video at 5:15 any direction to what I should order?

do you guys ever save the factory radios?
Thanks for the great video. I followed your instructions for a pioneer install on my 2014 F150XL. I bought a dash kit on Amazon that came with a wiring harness. I see that some of the pins are not correct on my harness adapter. I will do a bit more research! Great video! Thanks!
On this video and this case the radio turn on when the switch is on acc mode in wheel sterring? And also remain on wh en you turn off the engine? Tnx.
What about for a android stereo with the fd11
What about the backup camera and nav?
I have an F150 2009 I bought a Pioneer stereo and the adapter for the speakers will find the hook up but to get the power to it it just didn't work I know I was doing something wrong because the old lady L I should say the factory radio had the extra plug in the back and I just didn't know how to hook that up maybe you can send me some type of tip how did we hook up a Pioneer radio with GPS and DVD player in it thank you Mike
What did you do with the plug you touched at 19:36, thank you.
What steps can be skipped if you don't have Sync or steering wheel controls?
So I’m about to attempt this same install on my truck. My question is will I need to set up the mic that came with the radio for calling or will the sync still work?
I was asking myself the same question..
I might be mistaken, but it looks like you guys were testing the radio with the airbag light on the dash kit disconnected. If so did that cause any issues?
+Robert Montoure thankfully in a Ford no. When you turn on and for the key it rests. It is a great thing
How can you install a micro bypass on this unit? My 2009 F150 has a Pioneer AVH-x3700 and I installed the micro bypass and now my unit freezes and reboots when I play a movie. (I’ve been parked while attempting this) any help?
i need you to install my stereo in my Ford escape Limited 2012 .. i just cant .... :(

how much would this job cost? on 2011 ford f150
noah I so want to upgrade the radio on my truck but this video makes me think it’s going to be a very expensive job. Bet it more than the cost of the radio kit 🤔
I live across the bay and was wondering how much this upgrade would cost, using the same head unit. Mine is a '12 F150 XLT
+Shotgunnar give Paul a call on Monday 727-216-6170

+Roger Cruz thank you
Wich two wires did u solder together

How much for that ?
I am about to do radio swap in my 2011 F150 its just like the one in video and I have same kit but I'm trying to figure out what Fernando was doing in frames 3:45-4:37 can you explain ? please
No reply yet Steve?
My guess is he is installing a mic but why??? is the interface dose not keep the factory mic???
Hey guys - awesome video and walkthrough. I essentially installed this same setup in my 2010 this past weekend and everything seems to be working like a champ other than the factory subwoofer. One question for you - on the PAC RP4-FD11 harness, the square connector for the factory sub also had a green and purple RCA lead. I didn't see if these got connected to the aftermarket head unit or where they would go? Can you provide some additional insight?
Hey Jack just curious if you ever found any info on this I’m dealing with the same problem after an install
Its been awhile since I did that install. I think I connected the RCA leads to the head unit, but I don't remember that it made any difference.
These go on the sub input on the back of the unit. If your unit only has one sub input then you want to get a RCA y adapter and use to plug the green and purple sub wires into the sub input
not to make fun of Fernando but he looked small in the truck.....lol....but onto serious matters keep up the good work guys
+Boyd Reid he is a little guy, thank you
Hey guys I've just finished my installation.
What do you do when your factory connector has no -negative for speakers? 2011 Ford F150 Lariat with Sony Sound and amp.
Well I got mine figured out. Almost everything dealing with the radio come from components under the center console. I just used what was recommended and after connecting things together it works great.
so it just says dvd audio on top ???
I have a 2010 fx2 with the Sony factory system. I bought the pac RP4-FD11 everything works except for the door speakers and subwoofer what do i do next? Only the tweeters are coming on
Hey Eugene was curious if you ever resolved the issue after installation my factory sub is not working
The kit comes with the camera harness in the box.
See that's the thing... we're didn't purchase a complete kit. We bought everything individually. Long story
Audio is left side strong in the introduction. Question is there anything I can do to replace or up grade a sync system in a 2015 explorer
+PG Scirocco 16v does it have the Sony system or base audio?
Five Star Car Stereo
Sorry about that it has the Sony system
PG Scirocco 16v yes you can add the new PAC audio amp pro. It will give your radio a 5 volt 6 channel output to go to aftermarket amps. Check it out here
