- Today we install a new radio in the 2013 F150. Let us know what you think by commenting below and don't forget to like, comment and subscribe for more!!!
**Update 3/25/20 - We never got the issues fixed with our unit. They offer a new updated unit that (seems) better. For the cost, I wouldn't recommend this exact unit. While at the time, we we had super customer service, we've since heard from a lot of people it's hard to get anyone on the phone. Maybe we overwhelmed them with the response from our video??? lol .
We've tried to reach out to Phoenix Android Radio to make an updated video but it hasn't worked out.

Looks great! Im glad your Google maps looks normal. I have a '17 F150 and I installed the PX3 w/ 2G of ram. Google maps looks weird. The search bar is almost halfway down the screen. I contacted Phoenix many times since I purchased it last year and they keep telling me that their engineers are working on it. Bull. I don't understand why it looks ok on other people's I've seen like it's and mine looks weird.
4444
@@emiliagolightly8778 what are the 444 for?
@@luca2627 How is the radio now? did they ever fix the google maps issue?
@@Strategicfail nope. I ended up upgrading Sergeys software and that fixed the issue. Now I can use waze or Google maps and a bunch of other things.
@@luca2627 who is Sergey?
moral of the video.... you can disassemble an entire F-150 with a 7 mm wrench
Yes yes you can
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
literally any ford is like this, my mustang is the same way and its a 2005 😂
Every American car is like this when it comes to radios, 10mm for everything else😂
*any Ford
Why am I watching this I don't even own an f-150
Same here lol
👏🏽
I'm 13
Because subconsciously you want and crave a new F-150. 🤔😂
@@ubangiestomp I don't though I want the screen in my dad's crap car the car is too big and pollutant
They are great radios ive had mine for my focus for almost 2 years now and no problems at all still as fast as day 1 i couldnt be any happier. Definately worth the money for the focus model.
That thing is freaking sweet, almost want to take my factory lariat radio screen out and out this in!
Did you do it yet? I wanna replace mine now too
I dont even have an F-150 but you keep me interested so I had to watch the whole thing. 👍
Thank you so much for this in depth review!!!!! Ive been waiting to see one before i pulled the trigger
I was shown this same product in my buddy's truck. It's freaking sick. I'm getting one really soon
Got to say you did well to not get frustrated and finish the installation it looks real nice
It would drive me crazy waiting on the different features. It looks sweet though!
It takes longer than 35 seconds for the truck to warm up and kick out heat anyways...lol..that unit is sick Greg!..liked the video!👍
Did you miss the part where he said he remote starts the vehicle for it to warm up before he gets in it and turns the key? With OEM controls the cab warms up as the vehicle's engine warms up. With this system, the fan and control;s are OFF until he turns the key and the radio boots 35 seconds later.
recent research has shown that it's just better to run vehicle cold at easy RPM range for a few minutes going to school or work and thus heat core kicks in quicker. I've tried this and do notice a difference, but it seems like forever when your cold or you kids are whining about being cold, then all to soon everyone is hot! lol
When you start the truck the heat is off, and it stays off until you physically walk out to the truck and turn it on. Your truck could idle for 8 hrs with no heat cuz the new screen automatically shuts off the heat or AC every time you start the truck
@@fernandadeavan104 well damn I was hoping yall found the setting by now.
its ok but the bootup takes SOOO LOOONG
I was sold on this radio until you mentioned the fact that the AC is off and on feet.... this is a dealbreaker for me. Thank you for this well-done video!!!!!
same here. a/c is the dealbreaker. If they address let us know. Thanks
First time on the channel. Thanks for the vid Red Beard. I have a 2018 F-150 and have seen these for the F-150 and think it looks great. Of course I had the same concerns that you spoke about so I'm glad I found this video to see your review on it. I'm about to check out your channel to see if you posted another video of it after you had for a few months like you spoke about at the end and if not then I just subscribed and will check it out once you post it. Again, thanks for the video and I'm glad I found your channel. God Bless Brother.
Dude I got the same unit and the company refer me to your video!! Thanks for the info.
Were can I get the unit,I tried looking for it. And around what price am I looking at
Louis there is a website called f150addicts.com
@@louis3998 Link in description....
Louis $900
on sale now for $650 usd.
I think it looks good, looking forward for your next review video about the same
"Braxton is locking doors like he owns the place" Lmao, thanks for the video, hadn't heard of the company but they make a similar product for my explorer. I've been wanting to put one of these in for a while, but I hadn't found any good ones under $1000, so I had started building one, with the hard part being reverse engineering the canbus to replicate ac controls, steering wheel etc.... But this one is a good price and already has all the work done! basically a no brainer lol. Thank you!
Thanks for the upda6, was about to install it. However after reading your update, I think I'm going to waite until you find to better. Once again thanks. Keep posting.
That's pretty sweet! The issues with the heater controls and clock should be easy to fix, either with a setting somewhere or a software update. Hopefully they follow through with you on getting it sorted.
All car electronics installation instructions should start with taking the negative off the battery. Also, I don't have an f150, cool video :).
That's a pretty sweet upgrade! I have a 2013 and might have to try this... I know this video is a year old but, @ 28:12 when you hit the home button, I noticed the time was correct there and wrong above it in the notification bar (top).
Not sure how I got to this video but, I am glad I did and I am going to check out more of your videos! 👍🏽
I'm really considering buying a F150 because of how easy you made this look
First time hitting your channel but “Son of a Kankle bandit” = my subscription.
Hold that gauge cluster "Baby Daddy" LOL
Anxiously awaiting that follow-up video!
Outstanding review!!!! Keep us updated on those issues!! I think they are serious downfalls.
Well, this should shame Ford to start putting a “big boy” screen in their trucks! Excellent video!
It would probably be crazy overpriced though 😂
Awesome video. Newer ones keep the factory ac and heat board. So you can remote start with heat.
Awesome setup bud. Very thorough. For the minor dislikes, it still is badass. When I get my f150 is 4 weeks, that is gonna be one of my upgrades! Enjoy !👍🏾
Now I want F150 to make a deal with installation this amazing screen in truck. Thank you!
Dude, this is a fantastic review. Awesome. Thanks for doing this.
Braxton! Dang nammit Braxton!. You should have him in all your vids helping you.
EmuOnWheels Yes! Definitely! His dry sense of humor made the video funnier.
sir, that looks awesome!
I'm renting 2019 v8 f150 and its a beauty.
This screen setup on an older f150 is sick!
Really sharp unit, good install. Hope they address those little issues you mentioned.
One thing to check for is to turn the update time from GPS to off. Should fix the time issue.
"son of a cankle bandit"
laughed too hard had to subscribe lol
That looks sweet. Probably put one in my f150. Great video.
Saw the thumbnail, looked interesting, watched the video and I must say that radio & setup looks straight fire! Great video, and the dash looks amazing.
Hey red beard, u should download your area on google maps, works perfect on my truck. its a simple feature in maps.
Great video. And it looks totally killer.. Looks like a $5000 option.
@Ryan He never said he would pay for a 5k option, he just said it looked like one. There is nothing wrong with that.
Great video . After watching this i ordered one for my 14 f-150
I'm totally Astonished with your project!
The final result and finish seems colossal, always in an installation will not work something or erratic functions, but you will solve that, I'm sure about it Red Beard.
Having only one output for bass is perfectly fine because it's a mono signal. In other words, it is not stereo signal because most people don't run their subwoofers in stereo.
Great Video BTW!!!
A mono signal for this expensive junkpile of a radio? What is this, 1972?
@@houseofno I agree, but it isn't the end of the werld :)
At least it will give you something to play with while you wait for the tow truck to show up.
looks great. nice clean job and the plug n play makes it easy to install. thx for the video
I’m definitely getting this radio now I’ve been waiting for some one to test one thanks
Hold that gauge cluster baby daddy 😂💀
I have been waiting for someone to comment this.
Glad there's guys like you out there, so guys like ME don't have to do this scary disassembly stuff . . .
I love how the title explains the video perfectly
THANK YOU for doing this video!!! I WANT 1 for my 2011 Raptor
You need to set the GMT in settings for the clock. it's in settings under clock/date.
There's also a setting in the router for the WiFi for the time zone and NTP setting. That's probably what's causing the time to change.
He was talking about it being set an hour early or later, maybe he is in daylight savings time and he either needs to turn it on or off.
Way easier to install than the iPad I installed in my truck. The screen looks great, the HVAC issue kind of sucks but an update by the devs could fix that I would think, that is if they want to fix it. Unfortunately this company doesn't make one that will work in my truck but I'm fine with my iPad install, Great vid Brother.
@Ryan this is also just an android tablet with custom trim, it's no different. in fact the ipad probably has a lot better hardware on day 1 since the guy in the video said this one already struggles to run google maps
@@tech99070 Yup, these will be so dated and insecure when they don't get any major security updates. That said, if you can get the same harness and software for an iPad, which I doubt, I'd definitely go for that.
I only tend to use Waze and an audio app myself, so I'm making a head unit from a Raspberry Pi with a 7" screen running Crankshaft that supports Android Auto.
Dude what a sweet truck! Need one of those radios … I can hear the 5.0 rumbling
my one pet peeve is.. and then tells you a list haha love you dude!
I think the moral of this story is; don't bother spending twenty minutes to pry off the driver's side radio dash panel without removing the gauge cluster to make it easier, when your just gonna pull the same gauge cluster off twenty minutes later to hook up the power harness to the back of it.
I've been waiting for the follow-up video.
I'm curious if the climate control was fixed and I'm also curious about the could start up time.
I'm in-between this and upgrading to sync 3 but they're isn't a tonne of info on these online
Great video. Thumbs up for being honest and not biased
Thanks man, very detail video! That looks awesome!
Hey Red Beard, how about an update video? I have a 2011 f-150 and I am looking to upgrade my radio. Are these Phoenix units worth it, or is there a better product out there?
*truck radio comes on*
Me: 'didnt he just say he used to do radio installs?'
Great video Red Beard!
just to do what you did is just awesome!! regardless of its lag!
I'll never own a truck and my BMW has touch screen navigation and all, yet here I am watching this
Get a better job and maybe you can afford a 2012 or newer car/truck haha
Has your BMW broken down yet?
Braxton is awesome
Very nice radio. Would be an awesome upgrade in my 2016 Expedition EL. I would like to see your future review before making a decision. Oh, the price is much cheaper than I thought it would be.
I ordered one after seeing this video for 2010 F150 appreciate it
rob haight does it work with 2010 F150 gem/sjb system?
Holy that unit's bad ass. I wonder if they make it for the 04-08 model F150.
God I wish they did. I have a 7" unit in mine now and after seeing this im sitting here like "TAKE MY MONEY!!!!"
Bryan Garrett, same
I would get one if they did!
Good video nice unit I wish I can do this to my f150 but all I have to say is hell of a beard 👍
Nice video, clean install. Great job.
nice install...hopefully Phoenix will resolve those 2 issues.
3:55 “son of a kankle bandit”
Could you come over to my place and show me how this works on my 2008 Dodge 1500 Hemi? Good vid!
I read the specs and was surprised that the radio was not HD for this price point. I'll be checking for new versions. Anyway, it looks great.
Looks cool can’t wait until next video
I'm pretty sure, you forgot to install the always hot wire. Most every android radio o have installed will have one hard boot, and after that, it just goes to sleep so that when you start the truck, or vehicle, it just takes a second too soft boot.
La explicación es excelente, bastante didáctica y muy bien explicado. Lamentablemente este tipo de radios no traen manuales de instalación y del propietario. Me gustaría que este tuturial también esté en español. Saludos muy especiales.
Just ordered mine. Gonna use this video to install myself. Thanks for making this video.
MrNewmanRay how is it working for you?
@@tatejr21 its awesome and really wasn't hard to install
I am definitely getting this, I was gonna get the Ram....... not now. Thanks for sharing
so how's it still working? any plan on a update video?
Me - clicks link for radio
Link- 899.99$
Me- clicks other video
For a 12 inch thats not bad lol you could easily pay 350 for a 7.1 with hardly half the features in a comparable vehicle. I have a 15 chevy(42k$) and the closest thing to this ive found is a 10 inch at 1300$.
Lmao on the real it sounds like you require a reality check buddy...
You cant acquire quality products for dirt cheap, unless you are stealing them. Do you expect it to be as much as the midgrade head units at walmart?
You need to go into your settings and change your city or time zone. It seems to think you are one time zone over. I appreciate the video and you made it a family affair. Nice. Thank you for sharing because I want something like this in my 1980 Jeep Cherokee SJ.
This video is gold. These are the exact issues I was afraid of when i was looking at this unit. I hope they can fix it and would love to hear any feedback you get.
Where’s that follow up video showing the amp connection.
Any idea if this type of unit is made for a 2004 chevy Suburban?
You're a truly funny guy. Entertaining and informative video.
thanks for making this video i though i had to get a ram to get this raidoo but i came across your channel and saw that i didnt. Now i can get my ford
So after almost a year what are your thoughts on this radio?
See if they have a firmare update it might fix your problems.
Wow! I need this. Looks awesome.
When you said ‘door ajar’ I lost it
“bABy dAdDY”
Love the Milwaukee tools!
this video was great lol keep up the good work lol
They should make a app that lets you adjust the heat and air from your phone
If you are on the same WiFi network I believe there are apps that will let you do that.
Why would you need that? You'll be in the car anyways and this thing is literally a huge phone. Plus your phone should be in your pocket when you drive.
@@esaedvik I was talking about after auto starting the truck in the mornings to get around the tablet defaulting to off for the heating and air controls. Not while driving.
@@DBruno If it's powered like the stock radio, it won't turn on until the key is turned, even with remote start, so it wouldn't connect.
You love it buts it’s slow and heat control will not work with auto start why bother, just one more pet peeve lol
I don't this dude but this popped up in my recommend and I subbed I like this dude
The clock must be set at a different region ...... great video....!
Seems pretty cool, definitely interested in a follow up review. After a year or two, my phones tend to get pretty unreliable. I could do without the integrated climate controls but I sure wish they made one of these for 3rd gen Rams.
I will be putting a follow up video out soon sir
@@RedBeardsGarage how bout that updat?
So after all this time are you still using this 12” system? If so what do you think about it?
Pretty sure it was huge FAIL if he hasn’t responded, China garbage , was expected
If you have a mono amp use a Y connector for your sub line and run your one radio connection to both amp channels. It actually sounds better than having 2 separate channels. My subs blew my mind, had them in my previous vehicle with a different head unit with separate channels and thought it sucked so I put my L7 kicker back in. This is the best advise I can give you for good sound from your sub or subs.
Thanks for the review. I like the looks of it. I'm thinking about getting on for my 2012 Chevy Avalanche, but I see that I will lose the 2 cigarette light charge ports I use for my front dash cam and phone.
