Best shoe video I have ever seen! I have wide feet, and I have found that cute shoes aren’t necessarily cute on MY feet. Pointed toes might elongate, but if shoes are cut low on the sides, my feet look like they are exploding out of the shoes. If I find a shoe that is higher on the sides giving me a narrower view of skin going down toward the toes(if that makes sense) then my foot actually looks narrower. (More shoe=narrower foot) I do have trouble liking white shoes. If black shoes can look heavy, I think white shoes can absolutely SHOUT.
I have somewhat wide feet too (that, or store brands are INSANELY NARROW) (both?) what brands are your go-to, if you have any, or where do you like to shop for them?
@@buckyyyb I have A LOT of shoes. I’m 7 1/2 W but have always sized up to 8 In med. to make up for width. (I don’t wear socks; so for sneakers with socks or to walk for exercise 81/2. I found out it is very important to add length in a walking shoe if you want to keep all your toenails LOL) For out and about, I like a low profile, simple white sneaker to go with everything, like Ecco Soft 7, Veja Campos, Vionic; and Taos Plimsoles are really cute with a great black and a cognac color. I love ballet flats(no strap) especially Vince Camuto. I am currently obsessed with my new pair of Naturalizer Edit7 Carla3 in Cheetah print. They make my feet look long and narrow. I want them in more colors. And for travel in nice weather I have some Spring Step Rayely flats with a cut-out design that are sooo comfy. They are quirky-cute looking, but I wore the taupe for a three week road trip and got them completely soaked under Niagara Falls and they dried on my feet and still look like new. They also are a great house shoe with jeans. My favorite loafers are Sam Edelman; and Vionic’s Uptown is a really cute loafer/sneaker. I wore them all over NYC this fall. Sorry, that’s a lot, but…shoes 🥰 Oh! DSW, Nordstrom, and online. Just make sure you can wear them for a day in your house and return for free if you got it wrong.
I'm only five minutes into this but I love the advice you give and how you show examples of things from your wardrobe. One of my style words is casual (or comfortable, still pinning down which!) and yesterday I wore a pair of wide-leg tailored trousers, a cashmere jumper and a blazer (I'm in the northern hemisphere, it's very definitely autumn!) and the me of a while ago would have picked a more polished pair of shoes - my leather ankle boots, brogues or loafers - but knowing I like to have a casual element in my outfit, I wore my Converses and it felt great! I didn't feel there was something weird or wrong or that anything needed changing or adjusting. And that's something I've learned from watching your channel, and some other style youtubers, who all have great senses of style - even very similar colour palettes - but very very different styles. Thank you!

Re: shoe care...I always have some shoe wipes in our shoe cupboard and give them all a wipe after use. Every season I do a changeover and give them some time in the indirect sun. When the bottom soles go, I take them to the cobbler and hey presto, they have a new lease on life. Usually, I buy leather or high-quality shoes, but recently purchased a cheap pair that has sold tens of thousands of pairs, and I was pleasantly surprised. Thank you for this video Emily, I really needed this! I started sewing my own clothes 4 years ago and I have so many beautiful pieces in my wardrobe but I really struggle when it comes to shoes. I am a UK 7-7.5 wide fitting and I’ve always felt that when it comes to shoes I have to accept that they will look heavy (clown feet) because of my size and width. Hi love. I think they are a classic shoe that are currently on trend ❤️ They’ve been worn for years by multiple generations, much like the ballet flat. And I think the best kind of trend to adopt is a classic one. (If you like that style of course)

I definitely think there is a content gap for how to style wider toe box/barefoot style shoes. I think many people have foot concerns and are turning to this style of footwear, however they can be hard to wear without looking like you are about to go bowling! 😊
Good points, had a small epiphany seeing your shoe collection, and I especially loved the visual comparisons. The only tiny bit that turns rather annoying is the sheer amount of "personal/ly": my pesonal style, me personally, I personally do this and that. Of course all this can only be only personal. Sometimes it makes sense -- to accentuate, and/or as a precaution -- but sheer repetition turns it into a sort of pointless glitch. And that is rather unfair to a well thought out and executed video.
Thank you so much, I’m glad you had a little epiphany, I love that ❤️ I’m just making sure I understand what you mean, is it that you would rather me not talk about my own personal preferences? And be more concrete in my answers of what’s right and wrong? I think that’s what you mean, but I’m sorry if I’ve got it wrong. I’ll try explain from my angle. I try to teach personal style in a way that gets each person to ask themselves what they enjoy and what their eye likes. As opposed to telling them what’s right or wrong to do, as I don’t necessarily believe in this kind of teaching for style anymore. I think it helps people be more authentic, at least it has helped me. Also a lot of my experience comes from my personal experience of curating my style, so I give examples of my own style to make a point clear so that an individual can then think about their own likes/dislikes. I hope that makes sense. But I’m interested to know would you suggest I do instead and whether this is what was bothering? I do appreciate this feedback 🙏💕 just trying to make sure I’m on the same page. X
Interesting...No, can't say I'm tired of trainers - yet. Probably because it took me so long to even reach for them. It was an easy look, but definitely not more than that.

Brilliant tips and very much appreciated, Emily. Thank you

I was so confused by her wearing summer shoes at the moment until I realized her origin ha ha.
You look amazing 😊🎉❤
I just would never wear black shoes to light colour trousers!
When you have hundreds of shoes but always pick up same shoes 😢
The “must have” is not for everyone… don’t fall for it! just saying 😅
Thanks for your videos ❤
Interesting...No, can't say I'm tired of trainers - yet. Probably because it took me so long to even reach for them. It was an easy look, but definitely not more than that.
For sure ❤️ I still love them, and they still have a place in my wardrobe. I think I was just putting them with EVERY outfit and it put me in a rut
I never liked loafers. Maybe I never found the right ones?
not sick of trainers. pulling in lots of colored trainers

I wish sneakers, trainers, and chunky shoes would go away. I'm sick of the sight of them. I don't own any.
I look like a clown in chunky shoes....Not buying them at all....
