Just bought the ebook. The algorithm brought me back to you just in time for this! You speak so much sense and deliver it in such a lovely way. You are delightful! xx
Thanks for the video! Amazing content. Also, congrats on the e-book!!! 🎉 do you think a video about styling dresses would be possible??? 😅 I really want to start wearing more dresses but sometimes its hard to style them to look "different" ❤
I hope this comment doesn’t offend others but, I find most clothing/beauty UA-camrs so irritating and condescending. Finally, someone who is naturally stylish and attractive but seems relatable and practical. You’re great.
Love these rules, just wanted to add that for dresses you can match your shoes to your dress and add a bag in a complimentary color to the rest of the outfit. Sometimes I also use colorful jewellry that matches either the shoes or the bag to create that balance
🌈!! I often use the sandwich rule when I put outfits together but sometimes feel like I’m trying too hard, especially when I wear colours. I have some pink and green sneakers and worn with pink and green tops it looks too deliberate. Any thoughts?
Have you tried wearing with other pink/green accessories, such as belts, hats and/or bags? That way, the "pops" of colour can be carried throughout your whole look, but the clothes themselves could be whatever you want them to be - particularly if the rest of the outfit is neutral or denim (which I would count as a neutral). That would be my suggestion! 💚💖
Hi Emily: question about sandwiching. I thought if you wore nude shoes for example with white jeans or a skirt with bare legs it is suppose to elongate you instead of chopping up via the sandwich. I used to sandwich then went nude shoes, now I’m just really confused. I’m 5’2” and al😂says trying to look a bit taller.
I agree with you, and such a great point to bring up! Matching your shoe colour to your trouser colour can elongate your legs and is a great hack. Doing head to toe one colour is also great for that too. Maybe the sandwich rule isn’t your go to rule then ❤️ thank you for bringing this up and I’ll try talk about it in future videos. You could aim to match your sunnies & hand bag for some extra cohesion in some outfits 🥰
HAHAHAHA! What goes around truly does come around. Shoes/hat/handbag had to match when I was little, and now here you are telling us that two or more of these should match color to achieve balance.
Congratulations on the book and thank you for this lovely video. I am obsessed with the dress you are wearing in the intro. Would you be willing to share where it's from?
You’re welcome and thank you so much ❤️ it’s from Me & Em. My partner got it for me as a birthday gift, definitely not cheap 😬 but absolutely beautifully made ❤️ x
There's one thing about the 2/3 rule that baffles me: if you tuck in your jumper at the front, or leave the bottom half of a shirt unbuttoned, that does indeed break up the 1/2... from the front! But seen from the back it is still 1/2. Why isn't anybody talking about this? Does the back of your outfit doesn't count because we don't see it in the mirror? :)
Just my 2 cents on this! I 100% count this as 1/3 2/3 appropriate. Our backside being 1/2 and 1/2 isn’t a big deal I don’t think. Lots of things can do a “motivated tuck” but not be all the way tucked in because of volume. I’d prioritize this versatility over worrying about the back.
Awesome Do you have any videos addressing different body shape ie short 5’1 58 yrs old with some shape changes, but mostly slim with slightly larger size in hips and legs
Hi Emily, I tried to purchase the Ebook and the stripe link just kept going around in a circle when it come to processing, is there something wrong with the stripe link?
Oh dear, sorry love ❤️ it seems to be working from my end. I would suggest maybe try a different browser, try refreshing or maybe giving it a go again later? Any other problems send me an email and I’ll see what else I can do 😊
At the tender age of 59 I have come to the realization that dressing in rainbow vomit (more than 3 colours) is not at all appealing. It just made me look like a crazy old lady. I have ditched the loud, awful prints I accumulated while working for a prominent fast fashion brand for women in my age group. I have replaced them with beautiful linen pieces in neutrals and finally I feel put together . The old saying "just because you can doesn't mean you should" came to mind when you gave your disclaimer
🌈 yes yes yes...in fact if you could also share some tips for women with a tummy bulge on how to acheive the rule of thirds coz tucking in is not an option that goes well with us. And this is for the ebook launch 🎉 Congrats
I’m so sorry ❤️ many things went into the price of it. Mainly the hours I worked on it, the costs for the platforms I’m selling through and other similar products available. I’ll try do a promotion on it in the future. X
It's really around fairness and value. Fairness: Emily couldn't just wave a wand and her book was fully formed. She spent hours, days, weeks, months, labouring over it. Would you do your work without being paid? She is as entitled to compensation for her labour as everyone else, especially as this is how she makes her living. Plus there are associated costs for marketing and selling eBooks. Value: It is all about your priorities. Where I live it costs $20 for an adult ticket to the cinema (and then you factor in snacks, parking or transport, etc). That's for an experience that my last a couple of hours and then it's gone. Or I can think of some mascaras that cost around $22 and last a couple of months, or you can get a pizza & sides for that much, which will be gone within half an hour. For a similar price you can have something that you can keep as long as you want, and which you can refer to again and again. If you are someone who values style advice at this point in your life, and you value Emily's perspective, then this is a small investment for potentially ongoing benefit. It's really about how you prioritise spending your money.
It takes time, resources and effort to build something, who are you to put a price on others labor, don’t have the money or don’t want to spemd the money on it, ok, but don’t shame the author.
Hahhaa I actually don’t feel it anymore! But I do remember the first time I wore it, it felt strange. And I can’t do the dishes wearing it 😋 it comes off for that. It’s one of my favourites still ☺️

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I can see how that would work better, keeping the accessories as the “pops” of colour. Take care!
Thanks for the video! Amazing content. Also, congrats on the e-book!!! 🎉 do you think a video about styling dresses would be possible??? 😅 I really want to start wearing more dresses but sometimes its hard to style them to look "different" ❤
I'd love to see a video about pairing colours. I'm tired of the the neutrals and need some inspiration!

Aw thank you 🙏❤️ really glad you enjoyed it

What a lovely discovery to stumble upon this channel : the algorithm did well for once! Congratulations on the ebook and yes to colour video 🌈 🎉🙌

Couple things I realized. Outfits can look too matchy. Also if there is more than one statement or bold item it tends to look look like too much.
Congratulations on the e-book release! 👏👏
Thank you so much 🙏🩷
Just bought my copy!!! Congratulations!!!! and Thank you! I love your content!!!🌈
Thank you so much! 🙏❤️ you have always been such a lovely viewer and contributor here, I appreciate the support and hope you enjoy the e-book x

The back of an outfit doesn’t matter because we don’t see it on youtube😊
No one notices. I always stand against the wall.
I’m 68- the half tuck is interesting but to me it looks sloppy. Tuck it in! Problem solved and you look pulled together.
I see what you're saying. It bothers me as well. I'm transitioning all my long tops to crop length to better match my high waisted bottoms.
🌈 would love this - I i struggle to move beyond two colours in my outfits 🤗
🙏❤️ I remember feeling this way in the past too! I’ll start working on this content 🙏. Xx
🌈 please, thanks!

Sounds lovely! Where do you buy your clothes?

Id like to see video on colors 🎉🎉🎉
I don’t care if the baggy shirts are on trend, they look ridiculous. Looks like they didn’t care to get ready for the day.
Love this!❤
would a white ribbed tank and black button down and dark blue skinny jeans and black suede with pearls look okay?

i love the idea but an ebook for 22 dollars? I get that it was expensive to get the photos done--but that is more of a print cost.

It would be $22 Australian, I would think. So about half that in usd. Not sure if that helps.
