Very true! Im a short waisted hourglass, and finding a fashion role model is very hard. And the criticism of the few I have found is quite abundant so its hard to tell what the wins are versus the ouch, don't replicate that looks. Well, the one has some serious flops, and those are pretty obvious, but the rest of the time, who knows.
@@EdieThiel Awesome! I will check her out. Not sure how tall you are, but to the person saying they are short, try Petite Dressing. She does all body types, but I get some ideas to work with my short torso from her even though I'm 5'10". Probably even more helpful for her actual target audience.
I would love to hear your thoughts about what styles are best for different body types. Also, what stores do you think cater to each specific body type.
"Basics are masculine" - THANK YOU! If you look at the typical neutral capsule wardrobe or just the list of basics you're "supposed to" have, 90+% of it could be worn by a man and you wouldn't know the difference. It's kind of sad that feminine styles and cuts of clothing aren't popular or recommended by many people, because I think a lot of women would really look better in something that fits the shape of a woman's body instead of a man's.
She had some super cute dresses that flashed across the screen for a second. I'd love to know where to get dresses like those. I'm tired of dressing like a guy. I wish more feminine clothes would be available again.
@@catherinewheaton4709 I find the whole thing kind of discouraging. At least in my experience, a woman has to be patient in developing a feminine, very attractive wardrobe. Incluencers come on these videos with clothes that are very difficult to find in stores. One can go to a huge shoe store and find no shoes that are not boring or just don't fit well. Just resign yourself to this not happening in a day or a month or even more. Also, if a person has access to super expensive clothes - and of course, a lot of these influencers do - it's a lot easier.
Thank you for such a great video. I have always followed fashion and gotten many compliments through my 76 years on this planet. Seventeen months ago, I experienced a life threatening health scare and I am one of a few that are lucky to still be here. It has been a long road back and I am just beginning to feel like I can think about fashion and not just about staying alive and your video has inspired me! I love your style, you are knowledgeable and very gorgeous. I love your look - the dark lip color is balanced with your necklace and nail polish - everything is a perfect example of what you are teaching in your video!
You don't look frumpy in any of it because you are fairly young and look beautiful regardless of what you wear. It would have been a more interesting video if you'd shown some other women - incl. older women and those with other body types - showing how to wear basics to better suit different shapes and ages.
I'd love a video on what accessories and jewelry are "in style" now. I'm in my 40s and I feel like the long necklace with a medallion or charms was the thing for so long. I know those aren't on trend anymore but I don't know what to look for next. Same with belts, bracelets, even hair clips. You'd be some I would listen to on this topic!! 💕
Yes! I wear my two grandma's and my grandmother-in-law's jewelry mostly. All very special and mostly rings and brackets and pins. The necklace area is lacking a bit. 😉
@ I'll be 43 soon! I think since I made and sold jewelry (like with the skeleton key and beads that hung about 15" down) maybe I am just "over" the things I wore daily since I made it. I feel like I would rather have attention on my collarbone than a necklace pointing at my peanut M&Ms belly. Haha!!
I switched to the plain Dove Beauty Bar for washing my face, and I saw a huge improvement in the look and feel of my face. I used to struggle with very dry spots and very oily spots, and it completely leveled it out.
I started making my own tallow soap and wow! It's been a year and I don't have to use anything else on my skin now. No lotions, no special creams. It's been amazing!
I think the cut ( silhouette) of your outfit is what can make or break it. I include proportion in silhouette. So if you like a menswear or sporty tomboy look but have a very feminine shape, you will probably have to either A) have things altered or B) pay attention to the cut & silhouette of the pieces you are putting together. I love tee shirts but I avoid crew necks & anything too long or boxy or too thick/ stiff. No men's tees for me. I look for curves. Curved hemlines, scoop or v necks, & shirt that curves in & then out so if worn out ( untucked) it follows my natural shape. Preferably in a drapey not clingy fabric. I love rayon/ tencel/ cotton blends for softness & drape. They now make leisure pants ( sweats) in much more elevated cuts & fabrics. Ponte knits are another option. As comfy as leggings or sweats but looks more...purposeful. You don't have to look frumpty dumpty in basics or leisure wear.
Great tips . I totally agree that dress pants are more comfortable then jeans for me . I work in an office that is very casual but I have found several dress pants at Costco no less that are so comfortable.
A key aspect for me in terms of making sure I select a size that will work for me is knowing my measurements. I purchase most of my clothing second-hand and when I do so online, I can see if the cut of the item will say, fit my hips with .05 cm of give etc. Breaking sizing down to functional numbers in relation to our bodies is key, too!
This was my first time watching you and at least from my perspective, I think your makeup looks great and completely fits your outfit - not too much or too dark at all!!
Angela, you are probably going to not see this comment but you look totally flawless. Your tips are inspiring, eye catching and informative. Your hairstyle and color makes you look younger than your actual age, which is a great thing. Sometimes, we take easy fixes for granted because we want to look fabulous but sometimes, we tend to be our own worst critics. I love women's fashion, I'm 5'11 and 56 and your video helps me realize why. Thank you. ❤
I am surprised you didn’t mention color. Color can make all the difference in how you look and feel in an outfit. If you wear the right color, you don’t need much makeup. Some colors will reflect better against certain skin tones than others, It’s simple physics applied to fashion. Some women will shine in black white and gray, while others will stand out in beige, cream and brown. I always look frumpy in earth tones.
I'm short at 5'1 and when I was pre-pregnancy I was naturally very curvy but I look like I have a short waist BC I have broad shoulders, wider hips and then a larger bra size. I always felt back then that I was "fat" and now that I'm older I realize I just didn't understand how to dress to create an illusion, plus I wanted to hide my body so I always looked boxy. Now I'm almost 40 and I have about 50 extra pounds mostly on my belly and while I do exercise I am on meds that just make losing it next to impossible (with my budget), but interestingly enough I still have the same issues with feeling "boxy" in clothes, so a lot of the same rules apply, like a wide leg pant accentuates my broader hips while a skinny pant or even leggings, shows my curves in a good way and defines my bottom half actually exists! On top I obviously wear shorts long enough too cover my butt or a longer cardigan with shape cut into it, or like a flannel top that when hung looks like it's got a waist in the cut, opposed to an oversized men's t-shirt which just falls from my shoulders and girls and hides the existence of a waist... I'm an XL in a lot of things but because of vanity sizing (grrr) I have things that fit perfectly in a ton of sizes. My closet is basically medium to 2X and I can easily be wearing 3 sizes in one outfit. So the dressing room or for online shopping reading reviews, is really helpful to make sure you're getting the right size for your body. I should also add that if you have a good tailor or you're willing to learn (I'm simply not) that it can open up even more options in taking things in our meeting them out, altering length etc and we ALL need to remember that most of the stars also have a tailor or a personal shopper who simply knows what style they want and how to fit it and wear it. This is all great advice in theory and totally logical. But what if one's body type is a big-busted hourglass but one's personality type is arty, bookish and quiet? This is my dilemma. Yeah, I don’t look good in knit dresses because I have such a short waste that even when I’m slender, my waist line is not defined. Basics look like a sack. The cut of the clothing article is so vitally important . A slightly oversize sweater with leggings looks much better than the same thing with baggy pants.
Wow I love your wardrobe, your hair, everything! I love basics but struggle to find good quality, thick taupe trousers. Where are you getting all these beautiful trousers?
I just found your channel and subscribed! The top you are wearing is just a stunning color with your skin and hair! I did not see it listed in the description box..... can you tell me where you got it? Thank you!!!
Love that you are so tall. Where do you find the long dress pants? I'm 5'10.5, shorter torso like you with long legs. I need a 34in leg. Not quite as thin as you, I'm a 12-14.
We need to adjust our clothes as we age. I was thin, small busted 5'11 when I was young and could wear anything. Now, full bust (weight gain and implants) and curvy. My look is different.
Angela, since you mention using drops (sparingly) to get rid of red eye, I thought you might be interested in my opthamologist told me: the only drops she recommends for reducing red eyes is Lumify. The reason is that Lumify is basically a diluted form of the medication that is used to treat glaucoma and is safe.
Angela this is my first time watching your channel. Thank you for sharing such good advice. Also thanks for the Bluemene discount code, really appreciate it.
Exactly! High waist jeans look just terrible on me and they're so uncomfortable too. I don't know how women can go all day with their pants resting on their stomach and intestines??? It baffles me. But all I find in our mall is high-waisted pants and cropped tops. I have to thrift.
I find that getting a little more expensive basic works for me. Not such cheap tshirts etc. Better quality looks nicer. Also with oversized clothing, either top or bottom can be big, but not both, then it starts to look sloppy. A couple great accessories always elevates your outfit. I personally love fun shoes and bags . Of course jewelry always make me feel great
These influencers who look effortlessly chic are not 60 and overweight and round-shaped like me. I can’t tuck shirts in and have to wear tunics and have to wear oversized not-so-great-fitting clothing. Maybe I should start a “fat southern grandma” trend to follow the utterly vapid “coastal grandma” crap from a few years back 😂
Yes, I just started this. If it’s not gonna look good on my pear body shape no matter how cute it is I leave it. I thrift most of my clothes so this has helped a lot with revamping my closet
Its all about proportion..I'm a small inverted triangle wirh a short waist and longer legs..I love Basics not baggy,though...and no baggy trousers lol!
Short-waisted or short-torso… not many stylists or influencers addressing that this is also why “basic” outfits do not look right

Lovely ideas...very helpful!!!...Thank you❤❤❤
but what if your (my) body type is a potato?
Wow… I just subscribed to you… you are so enlightening!!!!
This was very helpful 🎉
We need to adjust our clothes as we age. I was thin, small busted 5'11 when I was young and could wear anything. Now, full bust (weight gain and implants) and curvy. My look is different.
Thank you for sharing these tips! 😍 It makes easy for me to enhance my style while keeping it comfortable!
Holy smokes I got my blue meat for $97.50 with your discount code! I verified. That was the 2.0 I am so excited. Love your videos.
Can you post the link?
It's in the video info. Type ANGELA in all caps in discount code on their page. I just ordered too! @@IrishD1952
Me too!
Love your advice and your suggestions thank you
Thank you. Great tips. And what color lipstick and nail color are you wearing?
Angela, since you mention using drops (sparingly) to get rid of red eye, I thought you might be interested in my opthamologist told me: the only drops she recommends for reducing red eyes is Lumify. The reason is that Lumify is basically a diluted form of the medication that is used to treat glaucoma and is safe.
Thanks!! I got the special price and a special treat for me since I am turning 50 next month.
Angela this is my first time watching your channel. Thank you for sharing such good advice. Also thanks for the Bluemene discount code, really appreciate it.
Do you have to purchase gels with Bumene?
Can you use the blumeme if you get botox or sculptra?
Isn’t just me, or do most of us KNOW this stuff already, but can’t find the freaking clothes anywhere that fit us right…
Of course jewelry always make me feel great
How do I figure out my bodt type ?
Tried to order the Blumeme but it’s from Canada so my bank won’t put the order through.. is there another way to pay?
Looking for the information on stores that tend toward different body types?
Okay, but what lipstick is that?
I know my body type now, but there was no information on what to wear with my type...
Are you a natural redhead? I’ve seen your videos before and your hair wasn’t red but red really suits you. It looks so natural so I had to ask! 😃
She has dark eyebrows, it's probably dyed.
It does really suit her though!
Thankyou for this informative video, im interested to know about the dress pants ,that yoy said were sooo comfortable.
Love your hair color
Very helpful video. Thank you.
I agree that your lipstick color rather surprised me but I totally agree with the rest of the video which I found very helpful. Thank you.
I love your hair!!!
Your hair and skin are gorgeous
Just watched you for the first time and so glad I found you!! So many great tips! Thank you!
You look so chic in this video ❤
I’m literally getting ready to go to my grandma’s 90th birthday party 🎉 And I have no idea what I’m going to wear…
Ok I got the blume 2.0 I hope it really works 🤞
Ordered and I appreciate the discount code!
I am not getting the workbook to download. It just keeps spinning and nothing else happens.
Thank you. I love the way you dressed up the baseball jersey! :)
Its all about proportion..I'm a small inverted triangle wirh a short waist and longer legs..I love Basics not baggy,though...and no baggy trousers lol!
