Wow I love the fingerless mitts and Ingrid sweater. I have small hands and long fingers to so I may try out that pattern with your modifications! 😍 thanks for sharing! I enjoy watching you while my baby sleeps on me. 🥰 I appreciate you content and the Godly spirit behind it. Too many podcasts make me feel discontent with what I have and yours never does! It just inspires creativity in my life. 🙂
Every once in awhile you need to treat yourself. That yellow yarn will make a beautiful spring hat and will give you a lot of pleasure wearing it. I recently treated myself to a wool throw woven in Ireland. I vacillated about getting it & finally gave in. It will be so nice and warm over my achy knees. It's not fancy, but it's very well made and my purchase not only supports the Irish mill, but also a yarn shop in the state from where I purchased it. I kept telling myself I could make a throw for less $, but then the 3 Arthurs (all Itises) that showed up this year reminded me there are many days now that isn't possible. Now I'm debating adopting a sheep on a woman owned croft in Scotland. I know.... crazy. My snowdrops are the only thing poking through so far. It hasn't stayed warm long enough to tempt anything else. Hoping that will change soon. Happy Easter to your whole family.
Loved every minute on this snowy day ,!!! We got a snow storm!!! Love UR Finishes,,,,Your cowl is wonderful,,,,and love the mitts!!!! Yellow yarn is so pretty,,,love dandelion ,too,,,!! So good to see you,,,, Love UR hair,,,!!! Elaine 🏡🏡❄❄⛄
Hi Amber! I really like the way your Shift cowl turned out. The colors are great. The Anker Summer sweater is one of my favorite sweaters to wear. I think you will like having that one. Thanks for another nice podcast.
Great episode Amber. I love your Shift Cowl, the colors are so pretty. I agree with you about having a cowl that hugs your neck so the cold air doesn't get in. I just finished the Sockhead Cowl by Kelly McClure, it was an enjoyable knit, easy and most of all it is close fitting and really cozy. I really liked the fingerless mitts, once again your color choice sells it. Upon seeing your Ingrid Sweater, I have decided to make it. Yours is beautiful. Your knitting is so nice the stitches are so uniform and neat. I have had it in my favorites for a long time, you have motivated me, thank you. I also use a lot of acrylic yarn for my church chemo hat group, I use mostly Carron Simply Soft. It was recommended for heads that are very sensitive after treatment. Like you after knitting for a long while I can't wait to get back to my wool. I hope that you will find time to talk about some summer tops. Take care
Hello! I've had the Sockhead cowl in my ravelry favorites for years! Thanks for reminding me of that pattern! I think I'm going to love the ingrid sweater once I get it finished. I love the texture of it. It's so pretty and cozy!
I love that yellow yarn…and I love dandelions too! Though not in my yard as much. Too bad you don’t like your garments to be brightly colored. That yarn made me think of Andrea Mowry’s LYS pattern, which just screams Spring! to me.
Congratulations to the winners!! Your shift shall turned out great! I have had this yarn specifically for making The Shift Shawl for two years! You inspired me to dig out the yarn and get started.
Love how your cowl turned out. Do you ever feel as knitters we are a little off in our seasonal knitting? I always knit my warm and cozy sweaters in the winter and my lightweight sweaters in the summer. It seems it would serve us better the other way round. This way we would be ready for the season. I have just been thinking about this lately. 🤔
I emailed my address two weeks ago!! Thanks so much! Your Ingrid sweater is beautiful! I need to stop doing mindless knitting shawls and socks,etc..this has inspired me, and ..can’t believe that I won something ..thank you so much! Been watching you for years and love to see the changes in the area garden and family over the years..wish I had commented more back then! Living down south now has changed my things to know categories to summer things more so yes to more ideas! Still learning at age 66😮😊. Oh and love the fingerless gloves .I’ve made many for gifts and are great for not so cold winters as I think they have down here..and LOVE the yellow!
Lovely podcast episode Amber, I really love your Shift. I’ve just finished one in DK yarn and it comes all the way up my neck which is perfect for our cold winters. Maybe you could use a thicker yarn to achieve this too? The idea your friend has to double the thickness of the crochet shawl is excellent, what a fantastic idea. Also, yes to video on summer tees. I hope you have a beautiful Easter, Amy x
Always great to watch your podcast & to see all the lovely projects you finished or working on. Last fall I made the Anker’s Summer shirt but didn’t get to wear it yet. I made the Shift cowl & have various yarns to make another one including the Edition 3 yarn. Seeing yours in the Schoppel yarn makes me want to get ready to make another one. I have a couple projects that are almost done so before casting on something else I need to get at least one finished. I have 1 more sleeve to do for the Classic Cozy raglan sweater. Looking forward to seeing more episodes from you.
I was so happy to see that you had a new video up. Your Nightshift Cowl is lovely! I absolutely love watching your videos and hearing about your projects!😊
The color of your Ingrid sweater is so beautiful and it definitely compliments you! I feel the same way about cotton or linen yarns, love the fabric but not easy to work with. I'm torn because I really want to make some summer knits but I just don't know what fiber to use lol. I've used scheepjes cotton in the past and it hasn't been as bad as others I've tried. Love the yellow yarn! Yellow is my favorite color because it just screams joyful and bright to me. It'll be a beautiful hat!
I just found you and I really enjoyed your podcast. You reminded me of me and how I approach my knitting and crochet. I will be looking forward to your next podcast. Thank you 😊 🎉❤
Love the colors of your Shift and you inspired me to make a second one for myself. I haven’t worn the first one I knit because I don’t like the colors on me. I have a couple balls of the Schoppel edition 3 that I can use. I need to find a new home for my first rendition. Happy spring 😊.
I agree with you about the Shift Cowl being loose around the neck. I too prefer a closer fit and recently made the DRK Everyday Cowl (also by Andrea Mowry)…it’s smaller and closer fitting to the neck…highly recommend!
Nice to touch base ~~. Thanks for this - I love the fingerless mitts, they're beautiful and fit you perfectly!! And thanks for all the tips - I love a tighter fitting mitt also. The yarn/colors you chose are just lovely. 🙂 Well done! (Actually enjoyed all the projects)!
Hi Amber, I love your Ingrid Sweater. That pattern has been on my radar for a while now. I just started the Ankers Sweater which is the long sleeve version of the Summer Shirt. I'm liking the pattern so far & I'm using Holst Coast held double. My plan is to knit the summer shirt too & I have Drops Belle already purchased for it. I knit the Sommerknus last year using Belle & love that fabric for summer tops. That dandelion color yarn is so pretty!
Hi, it is good to see you today. I love all your projects! I love the color of the summer tee also!! Have a great week! I also am part of a prayer shawl group. I love the granny shawl
Thanks Amber for sharing your knitting with us. I want to tell you I knitted a pattern you featured in a podcast "21 shawls..."a few months back. It's "A Little Slice of Sunshine" by Just Knits, Mary Triplett. It's a great pattern--it turned out nice in a beautiful red yarn (Red Velvet) from Stranded Dye Works. Thanks for recommending it.
I would love to see a Summer Knits episode! I'm planning to make my first summer garments this year and, funny enough, the Anker Summer Shirt is one of the patterns I've been looking at! I'm looking forward to seeing how yours turns out. 😊 Thank you for another lovely episode!
Love your shift cowl! The colors are lovely! 😊. An episode on summer tees would be great. I think it is hard to find a good pattern for that. I have that itch to start warm weather knitting as well and have been searching for the “perfect” design(summery but still classy with appropriate coverage).
The gloves are adorable! I make fingerless mitts with no thumb at all for my BFF, she says it's better for her when driving....so I made up my own recipe...😉. This would be so adaptable. My goal is to finish some WIPs so I can make the "photography shawl", but I think I'm going to do a gradient vs solid or tonal. 🤔 I had to laugh, your brown is my green!! Love greens but can't wear them because they make me look ill!! 😂😂
It is so interesting how colors make us look and feel. I love green but there are certain shades of it that don't look good on me. I think my skin tone does better with cooler tones. Thanks for watching, Patti!
Please don't think that I am being critical, but the cowl you knit by Andrea Mowry is the shift cowl. The night shift is the big shawl version. I love the colours in your version of the shift cowl, they work so beautifully together. It looks so pretty. 😁
@@alovelyyarnYou did link the shift cowl so hopefully people will use that. It's easily done. I am terrible for saying the wrong word but my brain telling me that I used the right word. I had a stroke over a decade ago and it's just how my brain is now.
Hello Amber, thank you for your podcast. I also like my cowls close to my neck. if you would knit Shift again, would you be able to modify to have a thighter cowl around the neck? Also, can you pls share the etsy store you're buying the commercial dyed sock yarn? I'm looking forward to your next podcast. M.
Oh I love the summer Knit the colour is so summer. The cowl, a pity it's loose at the neck. The mitts are great And the green sweater is so detailed. How much did you pay for the green yarn. The vibrant yellow is hat worthy. How much do you pay for this yarn. I am just trying to work out how much we pay in comparison for these yarns. No Drops yarn is available in South Africa. Take care Spring is on your doorstep ❤😊 The chocolate shawl is lovely.
Hi Rosemary. I honestly can't remember how much I paid for the Cascade 220 (the green yarn) when I bought it a couple of years ago, but it is around $8.00 a skein (220 yards) right now. So it's a very affordable yarn. The yellow yarn was $30 for almost 700 yards. That is hand-dyed, farm grown fiber though, but still a really decent price for what it is.
I’m new to your channel this year and I’m loving your podcast!! The granny shawl is absolutely gorgeous. I’m in Australia & we don’t have yarn bee but they make some beautiful yarns. How many rows do you make in the square before you fold it in half and continue with the shawl? It’s such a clever idea! Thanks
Hello! You know, I wish I would have counted that and wrote it down while I was doing it. I will look at it and count the rows around and get back to you. I just kept crocheting until it looked about right! Lol
with your shift cowl perhaps you could pick up the top edge and knit a few rows of rib in another wool that has a bit more elasticity, that might bring it in for you?💞 seems a shame to do all that lovely knitting and not be able to wear it.
hey, amber - why is it that your garter afghan looks soooo much better than mine?! i’m using some really pretty madelinetosh scraps with a whitish cascade, and it just looks muddy and blah :(. thanks for that great idea of making granny shawls with a warmer top area - i’m definitely going to do that. i’d love to see you do a summer tee episode, with attention to which kinds of yarn are the easiest to work with - cotton scares me!☀️
GM Amber I love your pods and the sweaters you are knitting Can you tell me if the drops Belle cotton you are using does it tend to stretch out when wearing ? Have a great day !!! 💝🇨🇦🇨🇦
Hi Debbie! I have one other shirt made from it, and it is a tank. I have not noticed any stretching. Maybe because it has so much viscose and linen in it as well?
Yes! Please do an episode on summer tees. ❤
Thanks for the input!
