That cute Jose hood is just great! I have the perfect yarn I have been saving for a hood of some sort, and I love the I-cord features. That’s a definite “YAY!”
Yay! That girls day for notions sounds super fun! For the grayling sweater I think I’d frog and go down a size, especially since the size down is the measurement you actually want. And with it being a dress there will be that bit of extra weight and bulk.
I finished the Lenu hood around 2 weeks ago. It is one of my favorite things I’ve knitted. It’s like a hat and cowl in one. I wear it out and at home it’s so cozy. I used cake wool co. In the knead base (baby suri alpaca) held with a fingering weight yarn. If anyone is sensitive to mohair try the baby suri! It is not itchy to me at all and is sooooooooo soft against my neck and face.
What a treat to see your beautiful wips and fo's. The color of your jose hood is a smile. Your best button day in the city sounds amazing and also gives me ideas and images of a children's book with all of your creative characters. You continue to impress me with your skills.
DEFINITELY want to make “My Jose Hood” for my daughter who lives in Tennessee! It will look so beautiful in one of the lovely hand-dyed blues I have held with merino and I can imagine how her blue eyes will shine! I have been knitting a year and a half and you are such an inspiration!! ❤️❤️
Nora, I really love your videos and always look forward to Saturday. Yay I love your color pick on your Jose hood. Have a great holiday season and a Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 ⛄️
Yay - you bring a smile to my face every time. I would love the Harris Hood #pattern if I were lucky enough to win. I organise my buttons in little plastic bags according to colour and keep them in a big sweetie jar. They look like sweeties after all X
Hi Nora, i love buttons too. The stores you have shown us are paradise 😍. there aren't similary shops in Italy 😭 For storaging buttons I use the box/organizer with dividers, similar to a briefcase, the dividers are movable, so as you can leave more space for the larger buttons or those that are in greater number.
#yay I really think the Camden cap by wolly wormhead looks so stylish and fun! I think if you want to size down your cable dress doing a smaller cable or even rib under the arm looks so stylish to have that detail.
Yay !!! Yay for Knit Picks just love ordering from them. Yay for NYC my hometown and hanging out with sisters. Yay for buttons they can make a big difference in your garments!!! Thanks for sharing Nora always fun.
I love the Jose Hood that you’re knitting, and it’s already in my favorites! Your yoga sweater is fabulous too, and probably my next mindless knit. #yay
Hi, love the hoodie color. And #yay my son wants "Marvel at this Scarf" by Tess Campbell for his birthday. Hold up is the many different colors I need to have. I have my buttons in a Rainbow Photo & Craft Keeper by Simply Tidy from Michaels store. I have also one for my Circular needles
I immediately added the my Jose hood to the ravelry queue as soon as you mentioned it in a previous podcast! I would love to catch that on with some yarn. I’ve been keeping stashed for something special 😊🎉 #yay
I’m in Awe of your sweater! I’m hoping sock patterns are considered accessories for the #yay game. I’m a sock knitter and love the Jemima socks by Kay Jones (Bakery Bears podcast). I’m also loving your dad’s sweater and hoping to make one for my husband next year. 😘
The craft storage boxes 'art bin' with small sections and dividers are good for buttons. Clear, contained, lid, clasp shut, amazing. Tiny ones are even good for knitting notions.
You're so funny, Nora and a really good actress as I thought the bells were maybe your door bell and you were genuinely surprised. I would love to knit the Jose (my dad's name 😊) hood #yay
Yahoo it’s Saturday! I found a pattern that just to me screamed Nora! The Menton 1 Cardigan! I fell in love with Jackie617 test knit using Sandnes Garn Double Sunday and Sonder Co Halo! You would think pairing the mohair with the wool would take away from the detail of the cables but it makes it shine!
I'll get a big Yay! out of the Harris Hood by Cheryl Mokhtari #yay. It's so cozy and classic. Thanks for another fun video Nora - have a great weekend!
My kids recently started hockey and I’m convinced that the My Jose Hood would be the PERFECT pattern for early mornings and late nights at the rink! Yours is so beautiful! #yay
#yay I am planning to knit the Field mittens from Camilla Vad as my next accessory project. Her Field Sweater has been my dream knit since I first saw it and I want to master that grain stitch with the mittens and the beret before I try the sweater.
Yes! I love tackle box for the buttons. My Oma (grandma) had a pretty box full of buttons. My Opa was a tailor so you can imagine the amount of beautiful buttons they had. I have to say I was quite upset when I asked my mom for that one box of buttons after they had both passed away my mom had already thrown them away. As a little girl I played with those buttons all the time. 🥹
Right! Mom and her did not like or respect each other and mom didn’t remember that I loved to play in my grandfather’s sewing room. The only thing I was allowed to play with was the buttons and measuring tape. Sweet memories
Beautiful new sweater Nora! I've been eyeing the Wood Block Mitts *heavily* haha, they seem like the perfect most creative way to incorporate that quilt motif #yay
Another fun video! Loving the Yoga Winter sweater; I was skeptical of the decreases at the hem, but I should’ve known to trust your eye for details because it is stunning. The pattern I would love to get for this week’s #yay is the Bunny Thicket Cowl by Sarah L Kelly ETA: For button organizing I have an IKEA peg board with shelves on my wall and keep my button and other closures in a bunch of tiny glass cosmetic jars on the shelves. That way everything can be divided up (I use this for closures for sewing as well, makes finding hooks & eyes way easier) and still visible.
I was half-listening while scrolling through Ravelry and I came back to your window with the orange piece zoomed in and your GIANT HANDS. I thought I was tripping for a second! I would looooooooove to knit the COMPLEAT cowl by Olga Buraya-Kefelian. I have saved in my "this is a work of art" bundle on Ravelry. #yay
Your hood looks amazing I bought the pattern immediately after you told us about it lol. I think I would love to knit Laura Penrose new neck Dickie ❤ #yay
Re: grayling The good thing about ripping something out to knit it smaller, is that you save so much time knitting a smaller garment that ripping out a few inches doesn't generally change how long it takes to knit the thing.
#YAY for the Josè! My daughter has recently got a rescue dog and is out in all weather for long walks because she's a big pup!I I would love to make her the Josè Hood for the winter months 🥰
#yay for The Jose Hood pattern. I would love to knit one for several people in my family, including me.❤It’s always a great start to the weekend watching AKA Nora Knits! You crack me up😅
#yay. I love watching your videos. Lots of excitement in each one❤. I ran out and bought the Jose Shawl last week after you featured it😊. I would love to knit the Mutsch shawl by Isabell Kramer. It looks yummy. Merry Christmas to you.
Your Jose hood is turning out so good!!! The color is amazing and the drape looks so dreamy! I’d say something I’m looking forward to knitting this winter is the DRK Everyday cowl. #yay
#yay ! A friend knit a hooded scarf this past summer, and now you knitting, I want to try one too! It would be a perfect accessory where I live (and great for curly hair when a toque won't fit 😅)
Did you perhaps pick the 53 inch circumference to account for it being a dress and going over hips? I'm thinking back to your Sand Cardigan and recalling you mentioning you wish you had accounted for that earlier in the project?
I love your Yoga Winter sweater. The hem resembles shirttails. It breaks up the bottom of the sweater and flatters the hips. I put it in my queue. A straight line at the hip accents the hip and the size of the hip.
#YAY I’m currently knitting myself a pair of leg warmers 😻 and also want to make park and knits bonnet pattern, but I’m now wavering between that and this Jose hood!🤔
You can make the under arm cables smaller. If they’re four over four cables make them two over two and then you can nip a stitch or so out of either side of the purls surrounding that cable, if you don’t choose to do the next size. Enjoy! Me? I bought a hank of Hawthorne in the KP sale with the hope of making a hat. I would love to knit the musselburgh hat. #yay
Hi Nora, your Yoga Winter Sweater is just gorgeous! I am also super tempted to make a bonnet this year, and am super tempted by the Big Bow Bonnet by Park Williams (because the bigger the bow the better!) #yay
#yay I would choose one of the Knox Mountain Knit Co shawl patterns that I don’t have. Their patterns are so concise and all their designs are beautiful.
I really love the look of the midland neck pattern by Laura Penrose. I’m currently stuck in with a broken ankle and foot so have lots of extra knitting time. I’m also finding on those occasions I can venture out that my coat sleeves get caught in my crutches so I’ve been opting for big sweaters or layering cardigans instead but my neck gets chilly! I’m hoping a neck/dickie would help solve that. I love your my Jose hood. The colour is amazing!!
#yay. I would love to knit the Sand Bubbles scarf pattern by Gretha Mensen. On the Grayling, I wondered if you might just opt to knit a smaller cable under the arms
For organizing buttons, I use a Floss organizer. Joann’s or Michaels usually have a coupon. They also will have organizing stuff on sale after the new year. Great deal on the buttons!
Hi Nora!! #yay The Yoga Winter Sweater is my next project for sure, I saw it on you and I fell in love! As for your Grayling being a bit too big, maybe another option could be decreasing a few stitches on each underarm cable and making them a bit smaller than the rest. It would give you a few less inches and it would also keep the style of the original
#yay As I get more confident with my knitting I am looking forward to making the Unicorn Grove Mittens by Sarah L Kelly. I study medieval art so this pattern is a great uniting of the two interests, especially if I can spread the joy of both by gifting my siblings sets that match their aesthetics. We often plan matching outfits without our parents knowledge as we are such different heights and with big age gaps, sometimes looking like the von Trapp family from Sound of Music 😂
I think for your Grayling Sweater dress, your thoughts about swapping the cables that run down under the arms for a similar number of stockinette stitches (or something like a faux seam), is the right way to go because it will give you flexibility to decrease (or do shaping) as needed to get better control of your fit
The Sophie Hood by petiteknit is my new absolute obsession. I have some pine green yarn in stash that would be an absolute dream to make it with. #yay 🧶🎄💚
#yay I really want to knit the Berlin scarf by paulastrickt. It is such a beautiful pattern, looks like storebought. I love your finished sweater! You're looking so so good in it!
I have debated for a couple years about knitting some earwarmer headbands but any headband type accessory does not stay on my head. It rides up the back of my head and won't stay in place. But ever since I saw the Jose Hood on Fiber For the People and your podcast, I have decided that is what I want to make because it looks perfect to keep my ears warm without wearing a beanie and it will also cover my neck which is also exposed when I wear my winter parka.
Thoughts on the sweater dress: 1. If the yarn is fairly heavy, the weight of a dress may pull the width a bit narrower. I’m not sure if it’s heavy though, being mostly alpaca. 2. You could go down a needle size once you get past the bust (so it’s not as noticeable) and that may reduce the width by a couple of inches. 3. Going back to the yoke and stopping sooner for the Size 3 is not a horrible loss of progress and might be the easiest thing to do with confidence in the results.
If you take the under arm cables out, your sleeve will need adjustments. Proceed with caution. Buttons are my favorite! If your buttons are on cards or you sew them on cards so you know how many you have, you can get photo cases that have square containers that you can sorry them into. They have them online, or are Michael's. Good luck buttons are so much fun.
Hi Nora. Merry Christmas! Please keep in mind if you cut the cast on edge that you can’t unravel in the direction you knit it. Sleeves work to make them shorter because you are truly unraveling. Hope that makes sense. You can put in a lifeline and cut above it and then put live stitches on a needle and knit the other direction. Good luck
Re: taking out your cast on edge -- I cast on a sweater with a knitted cast on and realized after I had knit several inches that the instructions wanted me to pick up every single stitch in a way that would create a VERY obvious seam in the front of the sweater, so I sat and undid every cast-on stitch and picked up the stitch below instead of picking them up. Was it tedious? A bit. But it looks AMAZING seamless by comparison. It's worth it to have a garment that makes you 100% happy in the fit.
I cast on the My Jose hood for my moms Xmas gift yesterday! I’m knitting mine in an alpaca boucle, and that tip about marking increases will be SO helpful since I can’t count my rows easily
Loving how your Grayling is looking! Would it be possible to decrease within the purls between the cables consistently around the dress in an effort to decrease down to the 24.5in width? That way you don't have to remove any cables, and can have the symmetry throughout?
That’s such an interesting idea! I feel like that could even be a nice option if it’s looking too small around the hips and such, to increase between cables? I like the way you think!
I know you said you're going to wash your hood because it went on the train, but I would also block it because I learned from a C2C garder stitch blanket that garder stitch grows a lot. Like a lot a lot. Just a tip :)
Not to be a buzz kill but have you been working on the neckband to your duster? It's such a beautiful knit. I look for it every week.

That Jose hood for sure caught my eye. I think that pop of color on you looks great and had my knitting gears turning with color possibilities. #yay

Nora, I could listen to you say the word “buttons” all day 🥰😜😂
I have asked everyone I know how they say buttons and we all say it the same way!! Hahaha it must be a regional thing!
@@akaNoraKnits it actually sounds quite London (which is where I live) and is so cute when you say it!
😂 every time I watch Nora around my husband he cringes when you say button. We’re in western Canada.
I also cringe when I hear you say buttons.
Pronounce the "t"
I don’t cringe at all - I think it sounds so cute 🥰
#yay I really think the Camden cap by wolly wormhead looks so stylish and fun!
I think if you want to size down your cable dress doing a smaller cable or even rib under the arm looks so stylish to have that detail.

I’m about 2 hours away from NYC I need to go there that’s so awsome
I know you said you're going to wash your hood because it went on the train, but I would also block it because I learned from a C2C garder stitch blanket that garder stitch grows a lot. Like a lot a lot. Just a tip :)
As an accessory, I would love a #give-a-yeah nice small wooden box to hold my stitch markers. 12/14/2024 Have a great holiday Nora!!! Ms. Jo
You could certainly it a smaller cable down each side. Good luck!
Hi Nora! #yay I’d like to knit the Rain or Shine shawl by Stephen West. Thanks!
