- Hello, here are some things NOT to do to your VR headset.
From the sun, scratched lenses, and keeping people safe in their playspace- there are lots of ways you can have a potentially bad experience in VR. Watch this video to make sure you are aware of them and continue to have a GREAT VR experience. These tips apply whether you have a Quest 2, Quest 7, Rift, Index, Vive, Oculus Go.. doesn't matter. you can have repairs be made on your dead indexes!
if it's just a connector, any repair shop with a hot air station should be able to do it.
the tricky part if finding the connector, though i think spare parts should be findable.
please just repair them, if you want you can gift them to your friends or sell them for money on whatever you want.
this is not a finite state.

So I've been through 2 indexes 2 cables. The latest issue happened when i turned on the headset and it said I needed an update . I did it and it bricked my index. Straight after the update it says tethering connection issue and stopped detecting the headset. So annoying
As I had already spent over 300usd in shipping forwarding from previous issues I decided to get the reverb g2 headset which was on sale for 450usd. 1 thing is for certain g2 controllers suck so damn bad with dismally bad battery life. So 100 percent needs index controllers for the perfect combo
once set up (need watchman dongles to work with index controllers) is better than the index clarity wise and comparable FOV with the g2 v2 latest head gasket. I found the index premium vr cover pads work the g2 face gasket and fit perfectly, if you literally pull off the padding on the head gasket and stick velcro on it and attach the pads.
Now my FOV is basically the same. I have a huge FOV now although there is a smaller sweet spot on the g2 over index audio is the same and virtually no screen door. There is so much more clarity with textures with things I never touched on the vive pro and index coming out so clear with great colour balance.
Having a mat on the ground with a different texture to the main ground . Saves u from hitting into walls.
Safety Tip: When setting up guardian in the Quest (maybe others) place zig-zags in the edge near dangerous locations like stairs, tvs, bird cages and anything else. Then when you are in VR you'll be much more aware of those dangerous places and be able to better know where they are. Also, turn on those extra safety features like being able to see the border when you look down.

if you're using VR next to a flight of stairs just put up one of those fences they use for babies and dogs but everything else is fair

@@NikkiDimesYT Yes. Safely for _years_ now. I have those puzzle-piece style workshop pads down to create a "normal" area. And outside that normal area I use the zig-zag method to mark the stairs and the bird cage. I have never _once_ smashed my hand into the wall or the cage, or even gone close to the stairs because I know that when I am off the padded space, I am in the danger zone.

You're the greatest my man. As someone who's been in VR single Oculus Beta 2, it's so nice to have a regular source of well researched, written, and produced content. You make the VR enthusiast community as a whole look like the pioneers we all are and I don't think anyone could do a better job. Keep up the great work, and I can't wait to see where this channel, and the industry as a whole, will go.
I cannot agree with you more than anything else on parenting children in VR. It has gotten so bad. Now it is to a point it is mostly the kids themselves doing the things they shouldn't be and saying things they shouldn't say. But of course, the blame will be on the responsible adults in the game and not on the irresponsible parents who let their kids do whatever without supervision.

Honestly, I agree 100%, just go onto a handful of rooms on Recroom and just listen to the vile things these children spew, it's disgusting.

Thank you for clearing up the thing about using the headset outside. It always frustrated me a bit seeing people swear up and down that using the headset outside would burn out the cameras but if that was the case then you wouldn't be able to use your phone's cameras outside
It is rare but it's not impossible to etch the camera sensor from exposure to sunlight. It's the combination of the angle, the intensity and the duration that will do it in. Just keep moving and don't set it out in direct sunlight when your done. Incidentally, I have actually etched my cell camera once doing a timelapse of a sunset. From that day on, I had a dark spot in all my photos.
In general... a lot of parents let their kids play on the internet unsupervised, sometimes even in the privacy of their rooms. It's... literally insane. And common. Even for otherwise great parents... Also avoid posting unending pictures publicly all about them, where they like to go, etc... Honestly, this kinda thing can never be said enough, great tips. Also, weird how it's often the messenger who gets shot first.... No... I'm not stalking you, I know your name because of the thing I told you not to do, so stop it....
As a kid who plays unsupervised I can definitely agree with how some people, even friends can fall down a bad hole when online. For parents out there, make sure your kids understand the dangers and what might not be good for your kid, set an example. At least for me, that made a huge difference and the internet has not shaped me too much especially not in a bad way!
yeah, it's crazy how many LITTLE kids I come across in VR in places they really shouldn't be. I'm not even necessarily talking about things like VR chat, even "normal" games you can't just let them in unsupervised. "Squeaker" comments aside, I've genuinely felt bad for the horrible toxic exposure kids were getting when I've played amongst them in Pavlov or Onward or something like that. No, not for the "omg violent video games", but for the human interactions (but if they're young enough yeah the violence isn't great either, it's WAY stronger in VR). They don't have the filters or life experience to understand why behavior that happens online is not acceptable in the real world. Most adults can draw that line, but if you interact with kids really at all, you'll notice they carry that shit with them and think "cool" or common behavior on the internet is how they should act all the time. And like thrill pointed out, it's WAY worse in VR where the obvious barriers like a screen and having to type/use a headset for your communication is gone.
@@truffle_cs My internet access has always been unsupervised, but I WAS warned how to be careful, and have done mostly fine. Educating about the internet is very important.
I’m a teenager and I play fairly unsupervised and I agree, never share your real name anywhere. use an alias or a nickname at least. don’t tell people where you live. don’t tell them your age.
I met someone on vrchat who said that they were 7 and they told me what state they lived in! and I was just thinking, your parents need to watch you better. I looked out for them the best I could but like still. That’s not my job to do that, I just happened to be there and they seemed like a nice kid. I feel bad for them

I've found that one excellent safety measure for not ending up with broken headsets, controllers, TV's or body parts is (depending on how big your space is) getting a square or round 3x3, 4x4 or 5x5 -foot floor rug that has obvious edges.
Unless you're really, REALLY immersed in the game you're playing, you'll immediately feel when you've stepped out of the safety zone it creates, even before your movement activates any Guardian you might have. What's more, having the tactile difference between the flooring at your feet will let you easily move more or less fully back into the center of your play area without too much interruption in your sense of immersion.
Stick that rug in the middle of your play space with a couple of free feet around it in all directions, and you'll be considerably less likely to ruin your day by punching the shit out of your wall, cat tree, or television.
When it comes to setting up your playspace, something I HEAVILY recommend is to go to your local dollar store and buy a few pool noodles. These can be cut up and used to line things like table edges, doorframes, and chair backs that you might accidentally hit if you are forced to play in a small playspace! This is something I personally do and it has saved my controllers on MULTIPLE occasions, especially during Gorilla Tag and BoneWorks!
Plus, an added bonus if you're like me and collect pins, they double as nice places to stick collectable pins!
Well guess what i dont live in the US so there is no dollar store. There is no walmart and the nearest McDonald's is over 100km away👍👍👍😂😂😂
TL;DR: if sunlight burns a part of your display, go ahead and burn the rest of the display so it's even. You can only play VR Darkness simulator now, but at least you saved your headset

Always nice to see the important influencers talk about the safety aspect of VR. Kudos, Thrill. As a music teacher who often vibes and connects with my kids re: gaming/Steam, etc, I can't ever recommend VR Chat or any of the social stuff to any of my students, when they ask me about games or if they're totally new to VR. I always go to the safe stuff, and often the single player stuff. Just like the early days of the internet (chat rooms, etc)... it's the same thing, just in VR. And I met some seriously sketchy people over mIRC, AIM, even ICQ back in the day (anyone remember those?). In the late 90s I had these psycho "Mean Girls" harass me daily for unknown reasons, via AIM. I'd block 'em, and they'd pop up with a different screenname with more harassing shit. It was really strange and scary. I mean there are WACKADOOS out there. Such an important thing to be aware of.
I wouldn't know about VR stuff at all if it weren't for my teenage students who told me to buy a Quest 2 a couple years ago. But yeah, VR Chat is definitely NOT a place for kids, and I avoid multiplayer games 99.9% of the time (and always have) because of the hate/sexism/utter stupidity of spoiled kids whose parents bought them every console since N64, and kids who had no sense of right/wrong or any sort of moral compass.

One Thing that is missing about the pully system here is, that even if you set it up correctly, you can end up breaking your cable itself. The headset will be fine, but the cable will die.
So I played a lot of Skyrim VR and turned around a lot, always spinning and that killed the cable. Now I use fpsvr to avoid spinning more than 3 times in one direction and the replacement cable holds longer than the previous one did. Great video btw.
one question, I'm planning to buying a quest 2 and the thing is, since it has a usb c port for pcvr and stuff like that, if I break the cable lets say, doing what you did, wouldn't breaking the cable be safe? in terms of just replacing the cable and your good
@@Frezzyy I never owned a Quest 2, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
I would expect it to be as easy as exchanging the cable. I am not sure, if it has to be a very specific one.
For the Index, you can also order a replacement cable, or if you are lucky like me, get a free replacement by support after warranty and replace it.

@@Frezzyy with the quest 2 you could also play pcvr content wirelessly ( with virtual desktop or airlink ), having the confort and freedom of movement that give the absence of wire is great and i barely use a cable with my quest anymore because of that
@@nemesis4081 Yes, I am aware of that but personally for me its complicated, my router is literally next to my room so its all okay, the only problem is that my room is really small, its like 2 m by 1.7m, barely any space to move around, my living room is like 6m away from the router + a wall, so I don't think vd or airlink will work, still waiting on my quest 2, so I'm thinking of using it cabled on my own room as I did with the cv1 before and having quest 2 upgrades/benefits.
Theres no advantage of using VD or airlink in my own room since I already have pulleys and the cables dont interfere, but if I break the cable I wont have to pay a fortune like I would have on the rift cv1

Something else that you should do with your vr is taking care of its battery. I have lost my entire headset to ruining the battery by letting it constantly charge for multiple days without use, and I wore the battery down to the point of it not having the ability to even hold its charge. So I strongly suggest that everyone should take care of their headset when it comes to the battery.

Very good safety tips for VR parents. I've warned my coworkers but they still tell stories of their kids getting lost in VRCHAT of all places.
I told them there is some adult content and they really need to be careful and monitored. They did that for about 10 minutes then just let their 12 year old run amuck. VRCHAT... free app don't mind if I do, I have an email this will take seconds to setup and account. Minutes later the kid was into an area he should not have been. I tired to warn her but she thought her little angel wouldn't go there
@Baxi yeah those articles were ABSOLUTE BS. My coworker was both lazy with her child care and for some reason didn't want to listen to my warnings about what's a good area and what's not. She just didn't want to take the time to understand and rolled the dice.
I was annoyed when she told me the story because it was just a few days earlier I told her she should monitor his activity. She was just being a lazy parent with a toy she didn't understand the complexity of.
What are good advice to give to a kid to stay safe?
I've always put a jagged or wavy line along one edge of my play space so I can reorient easily. I find that helps if you don't like having a fan directly on you.

8:08 my apartment is really really small atm, and I have a whole lot of music hardware in my room meaning there's little to no room to do VR there. So instead of making a dodgey guardian system I just include my entire room in it, mentally noting where things are. I don't play a lot of games that have me walking physically so it's never been a huge problem for me.
I somehow got almost all of my music gear to fit into a single Jaspers rack
I used to have a ceiling fan in my room. Knew it was there when I was playing. Reminded myself a few times before doing so. Still didn't stop me throwing an over-arm grenade in Half Life: Alyx :D Luckily my index controller only received a scratch

Kind of the same here, with the addition of me using touch, basically identifying what an object in my room by feeling it if I bump into it, which also helps me track my orientation.

Fantastic video. Thank you for clearing up the headset in sunlight thing. ive been wanting to take my headset outside so i can box in thrill of the fight with enough space to make it like a real ring but ive just been too paranoid about the sun and the lenses.
You can do it when the sun is going down when the sun isnt out but there is still enough sunlight for vr play.
On the play space safety, PLEASE don’t turn off meta’s guardian with dev mode. I did for heat saber once because it was ruining immersion, and I now have a controller sized hole in my wall, and a hole in my wallet for the trip to the doctor because I broke my hand and insurance won’t cover it.
I've played though like 90% of Eye of the Temple with the Guardian off, but only because of the limited size of my playspace that otherwise would almost constantly make the thing show up. I also disable it completely in seated stuff at my desk like sim flying. If you're extra cautious or in a situation where it wouldn't make any difference, it's OK. But you really should be aware of VR being VR and not the actual reality while doing so. I'd never play things like BONEWORKS without Guardian though.

I wouldn't turn it off unless I was in a gym or field or such.
I never use the guardian system when playing vr at home because it is very immersion breaking. Instead I use a playspace size -(minus) arm size sized rug so that I immediately notice the change in ground texture with my foot whenever I accidentally get close to my wall.

Great info, and just a tip to add to the cable systems issue, if you use two pulley's in series for the one closest to the HMD you not only halve the tension on the critical point, but you double the distance. It occurred to me thanks to Ohms law lol.
Thank you for always raising awareness about the adult content that is available in VR. Many parents don't know this and just assume that everything is kid friendly.
Computers aren't toys and people shouldn't treat them as such.
Especially with the quest 2, parents can’t even directly watch their kids screens anymore.

@@chrisakaschulbus4903 you really jumped to surveillance, huh. No, I was talking about literally looking over the shoulder at a screen. Kids could be looking at anything on screen, and considering how much porn and gore that exists on the platform, that’s worrying.
And also parents at the very least should have a flag system on their routers to create an alarm when dangerous sites are being visited. I’m not suggesting surveillance, I mean there’s currently no way of automatically monitoring things like Instagram or Facebook without just looking, but at least some monitoring. The internets a dangerous place.

When i was in 4th/5th grade it was common knowledge for students how to clear their browsing history.
In 6th grade i was rocking my bootable linux usb drive to circumvent the child safety that was installed on our school PCs.
Talking to kids and explaining the whys and whats is more effective. Just watching them not really. They will catch on, and then you'll only see what they want you to see.
Just like we did back then.
Another tip regarding the sun:
Beware of the changing sun angles in Winter / Summer.
My Index was fine just lying on one spot in my room for most of the year without any special protection, until this one winter month, where the sun's angle was just low enough to hit this spot in my room 😭
The good thing is Valve is finally selling replacement parts through iFixit

I have NEVER seen my hometown mentioned in a youtube video, so seeing that pierogi festival hat made my day.
That cord tip, one thing I have found out(after breaking my Rift S in a similar method) make sure you don't spin around so much that the cable gets stuck! That is the first warning sign before your cable just dies and you ruin the headset!(if it has twists on the outside of the cable then you should start being more cautious)
I noticed that we seem to be biased in what direction we turn. You can try to keep track of it and turn the other way, but when the immersion hits, it's impossible.
As someone who's getting an RTX 3060 in 8 days so I can finally use my HTC Vive my brother gave me, (currently have a GT 1030) I can say I have been binge-watching your, and other VR creators, videos, and as someone under 18, I can say with utmost certainty that I will not go into VRChat (or more specifically, social games where the whole purpose is talking) for the time being. These videos are really amazing and well edited, and thats about all I have to say.

Ok heres a tip with the headgasket. I suggest literally pulling the pad off the face gasket buying velcro from your local hardware store stick velcro on the the adhesive residue left by the pad. And stick on the vrcover pads that are used for the valve index.
The one where it comes with 3 pads one main one and 2 little side ones.
This is not only far more hygienic it also brings your face closer to the lenses.
8f you have a g2 version 2 the headgasket is actually in 2 sections. Take one section off and it brings you 1cm closer to lenses . With the thinner pads brings you even closer.
FOV now is basically identical to the index

a really good tip for VR play space is to have atleast one room empty with a sign on the door called VR Room on it and your setup placed inside, this is just me but i think its safer to run into a padded 4 wall than your 70 inch plasma screen tv ^ ^
My mom and I place a mat down on the center of play area, you can feel when you step off it, makes it harder to accidentally wonder and gives you a physical safe space to step back onto
This video came at the perfect time when I just purchased a Quest 2. Has anyone tried using the Quest 2 in a large flat open field? I'm curious of things that should be careful about (with the exception of small holes).

Very good advices Thrill, especially the don't-buy-on-oculus if not necessary part!
I'd like to add a tip on hygene: it may sound obvious, but most people don't care. Don't just wash the face cover, wash your face before each session! Many people go over their day, not thinking about it just putting on their headset, but their skin has a looot of nasty stuff collected on it (fats, oils, bacteria, sweat etc.). Just a general wash with soap on your forehead, nose area, and sides of your face where the face cover touches you, you can make a big difference!
I set my guardian boundaries to be larger than my room because they are annoying.
I find using a appropriatelly sized carpet or mat to be a better solution, you know as long as you're on it you're safe and if you step off it you realize instantly and correct your position.
Exactly what i do. It's really ruining the immersion to see this grid pattern pop up.
Even a small one like the 2' diameter round mat I use for my small play area works really well. As long as I can keep a foot on the mat, I know where my center point is at all times.
For protecting cable when using pulleys, it's better if you tide the cable close to the front of the headset. Apart from protecting cable this allows pulleys to pull the headset up making the headset lighter.
That's why I wiped my headset's silicone cover with a dissinfectant wipes before offering it to my friend... I don't know why people don't think about it. Bacterias are everywhere. Don't wash it every day cause that's insane, but every 7-10 uses for sure.
"Foot-Guardian" i.e. an appropriate size area rug that you use to keep your feet on; if you step off the rug you feel it instantly and almost unconsciously step back onto your rug. there are companies that sell these in various sizes specific for VR.
Im sticking with Steam/Valve i would love to see Steam coming to Portable headsets. They already have diferent game versions for linux/ windows. They could probably add a version for VR (android i guess)?

If the Valve Deckard uses x86, the version for it could just be the same as the normal Linux version or even be the Windows version and run through Proton.
Pully system pro tip: get VR wire (google it, past comment got nuked probably because of link). It puts WAY less stress on your cable and less tug to boot. It also leaves MUCH more of the cable free-hanging and therefore free to spin, meaning much less worry about cable twist. It's still a thing, but you've got like 3-4 times the length to twist as with the other pulleys that fix to the cable the whole way down, so it doesn't wind nearly as tight. I took off the clip on my Index holding the cable to the back of the headstrap (serving the same function as Thrill's zip tie in the video) because it let the cable come out at a better angle and therefore even less tug. DON'T DO THAT, or if you do, you MUST support the cable some other way. That last remaining clip on the top of the headstrap close to where it plugs in WILL break, and then all of the force is going in to the port, which is the damage Thrill is talking about.

"Care for your playspace." Yes absolutely. The more effort you spend ensuring your area is safe the more you'll be aware of your surroundings while In VR by instinct.
For those who get some motion sickness while standing, i recommend just using a swivel chair. You can get the full 360 degree experience within the safety of your chair. I have an extension lead attached to power my quest 2 so i can still play. The lead does wrap around the base of the chair so be aware of that. Otherwise just go full wireless.
Or just play some comfortable games and don't jump into a parkour game if it's your first time
So if you plan on crashing your plane in the middle of nowhere, remember to bring your oculus quest 2 to start a signal fire.
I cant stress the pulley system tip enough, on an index - whatever you do, dont let it rest with tension pulling on the cable. It took me a month to even figure out the problem. I was wayyy out of warranty but contacted steam support anyway. They sent a new cable, it fixed the problem which also verified to me that my cable was the issue. The cables for the index are fragile sadly. Take as much care of them as you can and dont leave any tension on your headset.. Not even a little bit.
Pro tip: buy a circle rug and place it in the center of your play space. When you step off the rug, you are in the dangerzone. I play in a 10ftx10ft room and I have never damaged any of my stuff.
Always wanted to do that, but it sucks when the thing slides across the floor itself. Even some rubber mats in between can't really prevent other small rugs or mats from doing that on a laminate floor
hey thrill i agree with you, i am not adult and i play vrchat, sometimes you accidentaly join a bad game, but theres stuff to do to avoid it.
1: play gorilla tag with ur real life freinds and try not to break ur furnature.
2: play vrchat with your freinds in private rooms.
3: play with your real life freinds in general while being carefull of a 75 year old man using a female voice changer.
thats all the tips i can think of.

ONE of most disturbing things I've seen was a world in VRChat that was a VR only underground club disguised as a peaceful & relaxing PC/VR hotel/spa world. Won't go into the details of what I saw here but whatever you're thinking, it was probably there. Then you realize that ANYONE with a VR headset could stumble upon those worlds too makes it MUCH worse.
Cleanliness tip: if you have a quest 2 and move arong a lot in vr clean the inside of your controllers where the battery cover is because there is a build up of dead skin
We need more people supporting the idea that vrchat or social vr in general isn't for kids, bravo for this one! Especially vrchat, it really isn't for 13 year old, at least it should be 16+ going up to 18+. There's so many weird things happening with the kids on there and nobody seem to do anything about this. they go and treat those kids like adults, friend them or outright support the fact that they are playing an adult game. It's almost causing me to quit vrchat. Absolutely loved that you talked about this fact that it ISN'T for kids. Thank you so much!

vrc is definitely NOT for kids at all, yeah there's worlds thematically designed as if it's for kids but you go there and you ain't gunna find what you think you will, best thing to do is keep kids 13+ to rec room and 18+ to vrchat, let's be honest vrc is literally just the modern virtual old internet a lawless wasteland of chaos and if you don't know how to navigate and don't know what you're doing you'll find yourself in less than desired circumstances.

Yeah I scuffed up my first quest 2 some, but it actually did more damage to my glasses. So now I just recently updated my prescription and scored a barely used second hand quest 2 (128gb for $200), then ordered prescription lenses for it. It was pretty jarring being able to see everything crystal clear, with zero glare or constant readjustment. I highly recommend ordering them if your cursed with poor eyesight like me!
I would sincerely appreciate a more in-depth video regarding cleaning, maintenance and general good care practices. Wouldn't have to be a long asmr journey or anything, but I'd like to see and have explained both a quick clean and an overhaul clean.

Also I've gotta agree in whole with your last point. I've met kids no older than like 8 in VRChat. Sure we clean up, or at least decent people do. But it's still not a place for kids, and to be honest the revulsion towards it by some outlets kinda irks me. Like yes, it's not kid friendly. Because it's not for kids. Don't let your kids enter it unsupervised or at all.
headsets could also be made in such a way, that the cable can be replaced. just have an additional clamp behind the plug to prevent wearing out the port on the hdm.
There exist small usb-usb magnetic connectors. Pull the cable and it will disconnect there

as for the playspace I like to put a small carpet in the middle of the play space so you know once you step off that carpet you need to be careful not to swing around too much.

To help reduce the amount of skin/head oils on the headset is to wear bandanna or some sort of head scarf. Not only will it help keep your headset clean but it'll also make dealing with your hair in VR MUCH more bareable.
If you use a vrcover insert cleaning is as easy as using a disinfectant wipe

a tip is that you should by a small round tapestry. This way you know every time if you leave the safe area without getting out of the imersion of the game.
So glad you mentioned about kids in VR. I don't use VR Chat but i find kids being on Pavlov bad enough. It's a gun game you shoot real people with virtual guns and in my opinion not a place for kids. I Have only been on VR Chat once but my expierence it's very much like a pub. Kids would be okay on it but only with adult supervision. You wouldn't let your kid go alone in a pub at night so don't let them use VR Chat alone

Polywatch takes a lot of skill and time to have it done properly. For glass paste it takes good 30-45 minutes for a fairly small scratch to be removed, with plastic it’s a little easier but don’t expect miracles and for the first time and if you not super careful you will probably do more damage… make sure you watch the videos how to use the polywatch paste and just avoid getting your lenses scratch at all times

@6:30 i like to tie my cable in a lock knot on the back of the head strap. This allows slack between cable and port not ruining it. And allowing a rather rigid anchor for the cable to be pulled from that is away from the port. Another benefit is that the cable is away from your face and at the back end of the headset. So you shouldnt have any dangling wires in the front portions of your body and accidentally rip them out of the headset
Finally to talk about parent supervision!! Since i got my quest 2, this is the most important part i am deeply interested in. Even with my best friends family we start project of showing them and their children how to go VR safety!
Im so thankful that he is addressing the huge problem with social vr rabbit holes, as someone who has went down some of these (help) i can very much say unless you are like me and want to speedrun getting ptsd, please don't play any sort of social vr games especially vrchat if you are a minor.

Listen, these bad people are everywhere. I’m in the GTAG community and we have these gtag “ghosts”. Our most popular one is PBBV. And there’s hackers (like in every game) and they can do bad things. Like if you try to tag them then can kick you and sometimes they can grab IPs. You know where that goes. They also disable all attempts to get out. Like disabling the ability to turn of your headset sometimes. Also PBBV is the slowest of our ghosts. And they usually have very bot like music. So I’ll just say, be careful. Being in apps like VRChat at young age can cause trauma and wandering into the wrong parts of some apps can lead to IPs getting grabbed and much much worse. Well hope you enjoyed my 103820 paragraph talk about gorilla tag thing. So have fun and stay safe. You never know who’s behind the screen.
It’s funny you mention using a fan as your point of reference and your play space. I tend to overheat when I’m playing so I always have my fan set up on the floor to my right thing up at me. This has helped me in so many gaming situations to keep track of my position in the room.

I'm glad you mentioned that things like VRChat are not safe for kids. I absolutely despise just how many literal children are on this game with all these other adults. There is way too many NSFW avatars and worlds in general. Not even to mention just adults talking to each other about adult things. There's been too many times where a child is also lying to an adult about their age and they do actually sound like they could be 18+ but in reality they're just 16-17 and about to find out the hard way of how fast their adult friends can catch a case. Not even to mention the fact of how many dangerous people are on there in general. So many can easily doxx a player and see where that particular person lives. And if the kid is annoying enough, that person will literally fry the headset with a specific avatar / client that makes the headset never turn on again. Play stupid games, get stupid prizes.

Wish I had a big enough space to have any use for a cable suspension system. I just stand rooted in one spot. "Till we get a super-high quality wireless headset that replaces our Index." Please! Gonna try Reverb with Index controllers. I love the Index (aside from the fact that parts stop working all the time...had it less than a year and had to have a base station replaced, then a controller and they sent me a replacement that was even more broken)... But the resolution is garbage, especially for something that costs 3 times as much as a Quest. But I love how it feels so much like an extension of my PC, rather than something I have to hack into it with... And especially since I don't have enough space to be running around or anything, I'd much rather have it wired (and designed to be used that way) and be able to use it all day if I want, instead of having to recharge after two hours, or have a bulky wobbly battery pack, or keep it plugged in with a cable that hangs out the side and dangles over my arm.

The last one is very true I’m 13 and I started playing a little more social vr games over fps but I still play fps almost all the time but when I do play something like vr chat I once entered “those servers” accidentally there were multiple children in it from ages 8-13 I was blown away by it and when I asked them if there parents let them be on it they said that there parents don’t care abt what they do as long as there fairly quite.
