I don't recommend the Beyond to most people. Especially if you're not a SteamVR user already (upgrading from Index or Vive)It's very expensive and something like the Quest does 85% of this Headset's job for way cheaper. !!!!!!!!!!! BUT If you want the best displays and form factor available though.. well, cough up a kidney. It's good. REAL GOOD. I should also mention: for people needing a prescription the Beyond has magnetic prescription lens inserts that you can order from them. No need for glasses underneath. Still; Thank you so much for watching! Can't wait to get the Quest 3 on hand. Much love
Can I ask you for the weight on those? They could do something as easy as what Bobo and Quests does. With the battery on the back of the strap to power it, then use it with wifi in the future, to make it wireless. They aint bad on a wifi 6 connection
You act like SteamVR users are rare, but out of the four people I know with VR headsets, two are Steam only, one is a Rift S user who mixes and matches his purchases on both steam and the Oculus store, and only one doesn't use SteamVR at all because he has a Quest. The 1.6% of users on Steam's hardware survey with VR headsets are people who have their headset plugged in when the survey triggers. Personally I keep mine unplugged in the box when I'm not using it. Meanwhile, Quest may have a lot of units sold, but how many of them are sitting on a shelf? Compare Horizon World's to VRChat. VRChat peaks at 37,000 peak online in a given moment. Horizon Worlds gets 200,000 unique users...in an entire month. I think PC VR has a bigger share of the pie than Meta's stats would have you believe.
@@lordbucket7755so the users of Quest have their headset wirelessly plugged in during the survey? The "my friends" argument is anecdata. 2 of my friends also have Valve Index but it's a minority.
WOW, that mic is legitimately studio-quality. If you hadn't mentioned it, I never would have noticed the difference. The crazy part is I bet that mic only costs a couple dollars more (to a manufacturer) than the units on other headsets.
@@Six6ix The industry currently needs software not hardware man..Even if it was a few hundred bucks it wouldn't do much for PCVR because the platform even if I love PC is kinda dead software wise (if we forget mods). Where are the official RE VR modes on PC for example? We need good games on PCVR to make these headsets even worth owning and using.. as sad as that may sound :/
Using the Beyond has really changed my views and priorities in what I look for in a VR headset. I used to be an FOV fanboy when using the Index, but now I think comfort and good mic is what takes the cake for my daily usage. 😂 my tiny little face appreciates this way over the strain and discomfort seemingly all these other new headsets give me. Man, if only we had eyetracking! Appreciate your valid and constructive criticism of it. You’re really good at articulating both the issues and hopes while also maintaining positivity and excitement for new VR tech. ❤
You know that eye tracking is worthless unless the software utilizes it? That's the huge problem. Foveated Rendering would, without exaggeration, revolutionize rendering. Only a small fraction of currently-required GPU power would be necessary to render the same image. But the GPU driver at the least is required to support it, and ideally the game engine as well in order to maximize the benefits. Neither NVIDIA nor AMD see any short-term benefit to supporting such a technology.
@@bricaaron3978They will in studio based drivers that optimise corporation and desk based applications. Engineers and designers already use it to present and test their work.
The fact that this was recorded using the beyond is amazing I thought it sounded perfect. A bit out of my price range for the headset controllers and base stations but looks nice.
The quality of this video was insane, there were some really cool shots, and as student filmmaker I think they were really cool all the things you were doing with light, shadow, backgrounds, etc.
After finally getting my feet wet in VR using the Quest 2, namely for PC VR and connecting it to a pretty strong PC, the Beyond is looking pretty appealing... Been waiting for the full review of this headset and if it gets such high praise from you, I'll take that as one of the most credible real world endorsements I could need before buying. Juuuuuust need to save the money for a full proper VR setup, now. Oof. Edit: That mic quality is just UNREAL. I am astonished.
just be mindfull about yur pc. an 4090 can be brought to its knee with these Kind of vr resolutions. however it completly depends what you throw at it.
@@DiyNuke I've got a 4090, so I'm in a pretty good spot hardware wise, but you're definitely right that these resolutions are no joke. If need be, lowering quality settings is understandable. I'm fine with lowering texture resolution as long as the overall render resolution gives enough clarity.
@@Just_a_commenter aaah plenty of power then. Thats doable if it were an 4070/4060 then its kinda tough/tricky to get everything smooth. (Experience xd)
I was thinking about buying it, then found out it doesnt come with controllers or base stations. Gonna cost me too much to be honest, but if you're down to spend a good chunk of money then this looks like one of the best if not the best headset for pcvr out right now (in my opinion). Sidenote: Incase you were wondering (maybe you werent) I went for the quest 3 with pro controllers instead. Probably the best headset for wireless PCVR at the moment.
This headset is the first VR headset that looks like it understands the mission. I believe a lot more people would get hooked inside VR after trying it, if the initial experience is a lot more comfortable.
Problem is its way Harder If you only Serve a niche in a niche with your 1000 dollar device that needs 600 bucks ontop to Run. Since almost every Headset can be shared this in leaves Out all the people Not willing to buy 2 or 3 Headsets to Serve the Home. I would buy it todaY of i could Set the ipd to replace my Index for me and my wife. But since er have 56 to 64 mm ipd WE would need IT twice. Thanks but no
Great and very honest review as always. You really made me nearly convinced to get the Beyond during the first half of the review .😅 Unfortunately, even though I have the index ecosystem, and love the idea of microOLED and the size, for flight sim (which is currently my main focus) the negatives are real deal breakers from the FOV, glare to the lack of Foveated rendering.. needless to mention the small sweet spot and inability to share. I will be looking forward to your Crystal review :D .. keep it up, buddy
me too.. for 2 years now.. and it might be another 2 years. Nowadays the index is too Low res and If you dont have Basestations and Controllers the Beyond is Not that attractivly priced
I really hope more companies make headsets that are specialized like this, just for different specialties. Everyone has their own reality, and virtual reality should be able to fit it
Its a falling business, Arpara done it before Bigscreen, but its outside in tracking + poor lenses design let to it being dead..... Beyond is just better version of that thans a "Massive leap" in VR, however base stations or outside in tracking are basically dead, slowly they wont even be supported like HTC they stopped sending updates and mine thrown in garbage after issues I had lately. Bigscreen Beyond wont even sell as much as Crystal let alone even reach quarter of a Quest 3, its made for a very specific people like you said however theres no future in such a product.... I have seen a glasses weigh just over 100g have 6DOF of freedom nowadays
@@Thezuule1 That depends. If you go for a niche but do so with all attention and quality for that niche you can be a big player in a small pond instead of a small player in a big one. Bullitt, for example makes CAT phones. Focused on heavy duty use not generic mobiles and they succeed where others such as HTC failed. Fairphone went for a niche as well. In VR pico went for cheap, generic and how did it work out? Meta tried to go for generic business grade with the quest pro and it also failed.
@@daemonbyte the issue is this is a tiny niche within a tiny niche. PCVR isn't a huge market and this is targeted toward a niche user within that market. They're targeting a thimble full of water rather than a small pond imo.
@@Thezuule1 true enough. And being so customized there's no real way to push it into the business space either. I expect there's good margins however so maybe it will be enough. Time will tell
SO refreshing to see a company actually make a wonderful enthusiast headset. I preordered back in February and should be getting mine within the next month. So so excited to try it out.
The small size is definitely nothing to overlook. I think comfort should really be the most important aspect for VR headsets since it will throw you out of immersion once you start to sweat and hurt beneath. Eye tracking would be something quite useful though since you can make overall rendering more efficient with that.
I really want a Beyond, but I also really don't want to spend $1500 on one. Lack of eye tracking and no option for inside out tracked controllers is really tough to swallow. I am excited to see the potential and hope a future version is affordable and a bit more versatile.
@@Death-999 i think big screen knows what theyre doing here. theyre not looking to be a big player. theyre just trying to show what can be done. as soon as they said that they were going to custom build every face gasket for their buyer, i knew exactly what they were going for. this is for people who know what they want, but are willing to compromise. im actually keeping my eye on this, but now that varjo slashed the price of their headset, im curious about that one too. VR is in its infancy, but now i think its aging and starting its real growth. companies are starting to see what vr can do, and some are willing to experiment with it. this one might not be perfect, but hey, maybe they will stick around for a couple of generations, or someone else with deep pockets might be curious about what can be done in this small of a form factor, or slightly bigger
Great video Thrill! I am glad you did a final review of this headset. I have been the only one discussing this headset in deep detail so I’m glad someone else has discussed this more. Absolutely the best PCVR headset currently.
If this had eye tracking, I would have bought it right here and now. I've been out of the VR space for about a year, its awesome seeing how far the tech has come in that time. I just want something that is a direct upgrade from my Index, with the addition of eye tracking, without having to sacrifice too much elsewhere. I get the feeling the only HMD that will hit that mark is whatever Valve is working on, but who knows which lifetime that will be.
The Beyond makes me really hopeful for the future of VR, the fact that a VR headset is already this thin and light is amazing. I can't wait for when we can eventually have a headset in this form factor, but standalone, with lightfield displays and a high FOV.
Unless the absolute FOV gets to 210 degrees horizontally, I'm going to say that they're not trying hard enough at all, or at all. 101 FOV it's only 74% of the FOV of a human eye. Normal binocular vision has a high visual acuity region of 120 Horizontal degrees FOV. And an absolute at 210 degrees. Hence while I'm sitting in front of my computer I can actually see the window that's behind me and to the side 5 meters away from me. But I agree, the less bulky the VR headsets are the better.
I'm so exited to see a company pursuing PCVR again. I've got nothing against standalone, and I'm sure it's a necessary feature for anything with mass appeal, but I'm not the average consumer, I'm a nerd with a PC and an interest in escapism After falling in love with VR with the Vive back in 2017 it has felt weird to see the entire industry pivot towards features and use-cases that I frankly couldn't care less about. Nothing exemplifies this more than Meta's whole sales pitch about working in VR - I cannot overstate how unappealing that sounds to me Outside of literal children, the core userbase of VR seems to be simmers, escapists, and social VR users (furries and weebs, mostly). Does Meta's corporate leadership sound like they fit into any of those categories? It seems to me like the industry is being led by people that don't even use VR. It's no wonder why the retention rate on the Quest 2 is so low So thank goodness Bigscreen is here to make something that actually solves the problems I run into on a daily basis with my headset. It absolutely won't appeal to everyone, but that's fine. I'd rather buy a product that's great for me rather than mediocre for everyone I should be getting mine by the end of the year and I can't wait
i just wish getting into pcvr was cheaper, both pc wise and headset wise. it's just so expensive, you're not buying that for your kid. and when you're out of high school you're drowning in debt. you're not getting into PCVR until MINIMUM mid to late 20's for most consumers. and what kind of market is that? no wonder interest in VR is slowly dwindling... until they solve the cost part standalone will just be the superior option.
@@mac_sourI'm really surprised there's no budget, inside out tracking, PCVR headset out there! The quest is by far the most accessible headset, but plenty of people already have vr capable PCs in their homes. A ~$200 inside out tracked headset removes the hassle of setting up base stations which is a big turn off for people who aren't big into vr, and the price makes it so people who already can run vr don't have to drop another $400 for a quest. It would sell like crazy. There is the rift 2 but that's pretty outdated.
@@mac_sour It hasn't helped that the GPU market is still absolutely abysmal. Nvidia and AMD being hyper greedy with AI / data centers is trickling down to ruin other things like VR.
I can see eye tracking and standalone mode being included in a future version of beyond, the big issue would be the battery that takes a lot of space, but that could be arranged by putting it in the back or even taking apples approach of putting it in your pocket
This is a massive step forward for PCVR. I imagine that it's $1K because it's the first iteration and they want to get their investment back. I'd imagine future iteration will be better and less expensive. As a PCVR only player, I'm very excited to see where BigScreen takes this.
It hurts how badly I want this, but I'm just not ready to shell out $1500+ for it (as someone who doesn't already have an Index setup). I hope it doesn't take too long for this kind of tech to get cheaper though, because this looks incredible.
Same, i just bought an index a few months ago. but 1500 for this i'll wait and keep to my index until i really need an upgrade. plus im enjoying what i got since i upgraded from a quest 2 to an index
I really hope that headsets move away from base station tracking fully before long. That's a huge barrier for me with PCVR because I don't have base stations and the added cost of getting them puts everything out of my price range. So I just stick to my Quest 2 (which is completely unmodded because I'm not going to spend hundreds of dollars on all the Frankenstein setups for the thing if I can't even justify base stations).
I'm hoping that we keep this size format and start packing more and more advanced tech into it. We don't need anything slimmer, we need more put into what we have.
I think personally for me being wireless is a bigger immersion factor than having an extremely good display panel etc. If there ever comes a way to make the Big screen Beyond wireless I'm ordering one in a heartbeat, but in the meantime I'm gonna go with the Quest 3 and airlink.
Yeah ngl the cable is a huge pain to me. I can't use a poulie system so having to hold the cable to avoid tripping on it when i turn a bunch breaks the immersion to me. Wireless is imo one of the best ways to experience VR. But it's also a very big challenge depending on display Also i do dislike airlink immensely and recommend virtual desktop in case you don't know it exists. (It is about 20$ but i personally prefer it over airlink by far)
ever tried an high res vr headset tho? it realy makes an world of diffrence. it would mostly depend on what games you play. since most vr games dont look that good in the first place. so why bother then with high end vr and pc and i guess its also just a play style. since i kinda never turn around but mostly just use the joystick which kinda became a second nature
Look up VR wire. Any "pully" system will be a big improvement, but this one is by far and away the best. Since I got mine, I've often forgotten about the wire entirely. There is basically zero tug, since this thing actually uses a pulley system that allows the cable to glide, unlike the majority of more common competitors that are just a chain of retractors fixed to the wire. Only when I have turned in such a way I kinda rub against it on the side of my head, and now there's a cable guide on its way to me right now (for free, offered to all previous purchasers when it was released, the company owner is amazing and THE most customer-first person I have EVER communicated with) to address that edge problem. Bottom line, I truly feel like I don't need wireless with this, and is in fact SUPERIOR to wireless because no extra weight/bulk of an adapter (whether 3rd party or built in), and no display compression. And more minorly, don't need a super powerful router (many people probably already have).
Yeah, my pc and my VR space are not in the same room so I either play on quest 2 standalone or stream from my PC, I literally could not use a cable without having to move my whole PC setup two rooms away
I ordered it back in the first week pf march, this is what I needed to hear and am looking forward to trying it out myself in the next few weeks! I had not been in vr for a while because the index comfort fades after a few hours, Thanks thrill, And the music was bangin this video
4 Dealbreakers for me: - no eyetracking (i heavily depend on full face tracking as an Avatar creator) - needs an iphone (in general it needs my face which im extremly uncomfortable with) - FOV - price but im certain future headsets will become realy good allrounders aswell as being small, super excited for the future
The big thing about the vr market right now is that there really is no competition. You get a quest if you want something affordable or an index you want something high end. With new competition we can finally see companies trying to improve and innovate again
First product being this great gives a lot of confidence in the company. It's still not for me. I really need a wireless setup, but I'm excited. I hope it's successful enough so that they can step it up.
FOV is more important to me than eye tracking, hand tracking or AR. Still nothing out there that entices me, but these come close! Hopefully in the future they can improve the lenses and widen that FOV.
@@Archman155 Yeah, the base stations will cost you about $150 each, and the controllers depend on what you buy. Knuckles for example will cost you around another $300. It also isn't standalone like quest 2 or 3, so you will need to invest in a top quality gaming pc capable of playing VR if you don't already have one. Too pricey for the vast majority of us.
and this review sets in stone the headset I will upgrade to from my index, thank you for the amazing content and transparency Thrill, really appreciate it
big screen really hit something here, with VR and the nature of it being so personal with the most sensitive part of your body aka your head, having it be so snug against your face is really something.
I am soo exited for the oculus quest 3, its a big jump in price, software and hardware and leaves me thinking that it can become a "pc vr" competitor, tecnology is amazing and it has evolved soo mutch in the last years, so thank you for reviewing this piece of story thrill!
I've been following the Beyond for a couple of months waiting for you, specifically, to drop a review on it. I've seen a couple other reviews for the final product but I wanted to hear yours before pulling the trigger. Luckily I just got a $1,000 bonus at work so the pixels are aligning perfectly for me!
The beyond honestly looks insanely appealing, especially for someone who already has a steamvr setup. However, the biggest thing holding me back, is the fact that Valve is working on a headset... it'll be interesting to see how the beyond will compare in price and performance
@@rangerkayla8824 fair point! They are pretty different in their specialization, but they’re both going to be compared by most since they’re both high end headsets
The instant that I have enough money, I'm buying this, the hard strap thing, and any other accessories that look like it'll help my experience. VR has only ever had one major issue that the beyond fixes perfectly. I already have a Valve Index, so this will be a massive upgrade for me
@@imblocker Yes, The Aero moves on my face in room scale games and bounces around in my motion sim in Rally. That breaks immersion for me pretty badly. That is by far the biggest reason. They are about a wash in terms of FOV. The Aero has a little more horizontal and the BSB a little more vertical. The BSB has better color and much better blacks. The Aero has no glare. The BSB has no moire or potential red shift issues. For audio the Aero has a 1/8" jack which works if you have an efficient pair of headphones. The BSB takes a USB-C DAC which is more flexible, or you can go wireless for both of them. The bottom line is that although the Aero is a comfortable headset, it won't stay still against my face and the weight is an issue at times. Also dynamic foveated rendering for the Aero is really only good in DCS. For other titles it doesn't amount to much because DFR has VERY poor support, so most titles will not take advantage of it.
Clean your lenses! For goodness' sake. You complain about glare and your lenses are covered in grease. Get some Zeiss disposable lens wipes - by the look of it they might change your entire experience. Even the slightest grease on my glasses ruins my day, and every time I clean them (normally daily, with two wipes) it's a revelation how clear they really are.
I thought the same thing! If you arent cleaning those suckers then ofc you’re going to get some bad glare. It actually impressed me with how the glare wasnt THAT bad with all that grease
Thx for the nice update on the beyond 🙂😇🎉 I'm currently looking at the aero as an upgrade from quest 2. So really looking forward to your review of it after the price drop 👀😍😊
I feel it should be noted: the Varjo areo got it's price price put down to $1000. It has many of this headsets features, with good diplays, and also doesn't have built in audio (or microphone sadly). What it does have is nice quality lenses and displays, along with built in eye tracking and auto IPD adjustment. It is bulkier and heavier, along with needing it's own software, so it's not perfect. Unless you are exeptionally active, and really want the light weight, I personally recommend the Varjo Areo over the Bigscreen for the pric point.
Hey Thrill, here's something you never covered that I'm curious about as someone who lives in a very hot climate during the summer months. For my Index, it is an absolute MUST that I have the kiwi radiator fan accessory plugged in to cool the headset down and in turn help me to avoid overheating. The Beyond being so small implies to me that it either has no fans, or they have to be very tiny. But as far as I can tell, there are no moving parts. So, for extended periods of use (i.e. drinking nights, sleeping, raves, etc.) in games like VRChat, will this headset cause an Arizona man to get heat stroke during the month of August?
Made it 15 seconds in. Had to ask: Why are you wearing a large particle mask? Someone doing yard work near you or something? We have a Valve Index and a Quest 2. Quest 2 gets used all the time for Beat Saber and a couple other games. Index collects dust. The Valve Index is heavy on our heads and its heavy cord make it challenging. Even when we hang the cord from the kit we got from Amazon, the cord still pulls against you or brushes against you if you move up or down or sideways. Sometimes the games on Steam put you incorrectly facing the wrong way or too close or below the floor like on the boxing game. Anyway, thanks for the video. Glad to see innovation still happening the VR space.
Sell? 😂 if i buy VR im using it until my sanity finds its self in a nursing home at 100 yrs . My OG supper nintendo still works so i can make a headset last lol i aint selling VR
I'm pretty bummed about the price. I've been looking for an upgrade from my Quest 2 because I just can't deal with the amount of distortion when playing PCVR games, but I am unable to find any good PCVR headsets for a similar price as the Quest.
It's really not THAT bad though. If you already know you like VR and the time invested, it's an easy trade off. That being said, I will still probably wait until after my Quest2 dies to upgrade to Quest3@@ThrillSeekerVR
@@ThrillSeekerVR the thing i also kinda dont always get is why so many of them try to go to the standalone version. Just have a good base some good lenses and screens and that should be all. Altho i also kinda would choose to go the expensive route in the first place just to avoid switching too much since each of them will disapoint a bit when the next one comes out. I went from a quest to an pimax 8kx. Which really is night and day😂
@DiyNuke Because you can't sustain and company selling a product like that. VR is already super niche, and the quest has basically destroyed any chance of a low end market. Why the fuck would anyone buy a pcvr headset for 300 bucks when a quest exists and can do pcvr wireless at that same price PLUS the standalone stuff? Like....for real dude? These are hardware companies. They gotta push hardware and sell constantly just to not go bankrupt. If they ever stop adding new stuff they immediately dissappear as a company forever.
@@cheeeeezewizzz if you can get a high res model like an pimax 8kx/4k screens in the 800$ range then still plenty would buy them since standalone vr is still only for starters/kids (first vr headset) Its just that going from a quest to an 4k vr is a giant leap up cost wise. But there are some more base models coming in the market now but they still need you to buy controllers and all that stuff. Most is still or 350/400$ or 1000/1500$
If they made it wireless and packaged controllers with base stations so I don't have to figure that mess out on my own. That could be a selling point. But at this point you're saying I have to find someone with an iphone, scan my face, get a computer up to snuff, buy controllers, buy base stations, connect it all up and that's a lot of enthusiast level hopes and dreams when I could just get a Q3 that is open box ready to go. Not like I don't love how light this looks, my biggest complaint has been how heavy headsets are. But I'm not about to jump through hoops for one either.
@bkingtz1 long before covid, some content creators would wear masks to protect their identity while streaming. Thrill wears a mask in literally everyone of his vids for that reason. And now since covid wear masks are not totally put of the ordinary, I to will wear them and a hat in some jobs I do in securoty and crowd control to maintain a seperation between my work life and my private life
As well as the fact that masks were normalized in eastern culture (read just as much of the population as western culture) well before covid too. tldr there's many reasons to do something, and presuming it's to do something you go against is egotistical and idiotic. imagine letting people live their own life when their actions literally don't affect you.
ye, at this size, you can almost wear it and go outside (maybe some go pro hacks) without people staring at you weirdly. price is high now, but this is the first VR headset that MAKE SENSE. hope to see more company pick up this sensible design size choice, more competition = better price.
I thought I had my next headset thought out, but you've given me reason to reconsider! Damn good video as always brother, looking forward to the next one.
Happy to hear about the Varjo video. I splurged and going from Q2 to a Varjo, still waiting for it to arrive. I am a bit anxious, can't stop looking at reviews and comparisons between Aero, BSB and Crystal, borderline second-guessing my decision.
The Aero is class. Dony worry. Had mine 18+ months. Love it. Build quality is second to none. Ive order a beyond out of curiosity, be interesting to see them compared here first.
If they're already custom-scanning your dome, they might as well use audio-exciters to transmit the audio instead of typical headphones for audio. Way to look like a party-animal mixed with a ninja, btw. Good video, highly informative and nobody else is covering this. Hope the algorithm gets you
finally someone did the violent headbanging shake test, that's one thing we underestimate as a factor for immersion which is what I hate about my front-heavy quest2.. this form factor is truly what VR needs.
As someone running a hybrid Reverb G2/index controller setup, the beyond is right up my alley. It's not too expensive at all. It's right in line with what I would expect an honestly priced vr hmd to cost currently. The original Oculus Rift cost $600 in 2016 with only really the HMD and an xbox controller. The other half of the VR experience cost like 300 more when the touch controllers launched. Taking the local pay of a warehouse worker for a large retailer as a measure of the real value of money, in 2016 their top pay (which most everyone there made) was $15.46. Today that has risen to $23.95 and is still trending upwards. 15.46 is 64.5511...% of 23.95. You know what $600 is 64.5511...% of? 929.49. The value of the dollar has fallen about that far to make 600 in 2016 nearly 1k today.
I genuinely cannot get into VR due to the comfort issues posed by most headsets.I've tried since the Quest 1 and it's just impossible for me. It's amazing seeing what the Beyond has accomplished and I hope one day it can be more accessible to the consumer base. Thanks for the upload and non-biased review.
It's good. REAL GOOD.
I should also mention: for people needing a prescription the Beyond has magnetic prescription lens inserts that you can order from them. No need for glasses underneath. Still;
Thank you so much for watching! Can't wait to get the Quest 3 on hand. Much love
It reminds me of 1440p or 4k how it makes it so hard to go back to 1080p after you use it
Can I ask you for the weight on those?
I think PC VR has a bigger share of the pie than Meta's stats would have you believe.
would you recommend the beyond or the Aero for someone who mostly does seated vr in a rig an occasional standing vr gaming?

@@Six6ix The industry currently needs software not hardware man..Even if it was a few hundred bucks it wouldn't do much for PCVR because the platform even if I love PC is kinda dead software wise (if we forget mods).
And they never will, if headsets don't support it. Need both sides of the coin. Either one taking the plunge helps.@@bricaaron3978

just be mindfull about yur pc. an 4090 can be brought to its knee with these Kind of vr resolutions. however it completly depends what you throw at it.

Hey thank you so much!!!!!!!!
I really hope more companies make headsets that are specialized like this, just for different specialties. Everyone has their own reality, and virtual reality should be able to fit it
The problem is that limiting your possible customer base like this doesn't make good business sense.

The small size is definitely nothing to overlook. I think comfort should really be the most important aspect for VR headsets since it will throw you out of immersion once you start to sweat and hurt beneath. Eye tracking would be something quite useful though since you can make overall rendering more efficient with that.
Awesome job explaining how the strengths of the beyond are only possible because of what it doesn't have
I really want a Beyond, but I also really don't want to spend $1500 on one. Lack of eye tracking and no option for inside out tracked controllers is really tough to swallow. I am excited to see the potential and hope a future version is affordable and a bit more versatile.
The lack of eye tracking and NOT having a tracked headset makes it more appealing to me.
The no inside out/ wireless or hand tracking is killing me
"I really want a Beyond"
You really don't, it's an expensive, featureless gimmick. Give it a couple of generations and it might be decent.
Your unwavering commitment is remarkable! - "Avoiding risks is a strategy destined to fail..."
Thank you for bringing so much value to the VR community
I'm so exited to see a company pursuing PCVR again. I've got nothing against standalone, and I'm sure it's a necessary feature for anything with mass appeal, but I'm not the average consumer, I'm a nerd with a PC and an interest in escapism
After falling in love with VR with the Vive back in 2017 it has felt weird to see the entire industry pivot towards features and use-cases that I frankly couldn't care less about. Nothing exemplifies this more than Meta's whole sales pitch about working in VR - I cannot overstate how unappealing that sounds to me
Outside of literal children, the core userbase of VR seems to be simmers, escapists, and social VR users (furries and weebs, mostly). Does Meta's corporate leadership sound like they fit into any of those categories? It seems to me like the industry is being led by people that don't even use VR. It's no wonder why the retention rate on the Quest 2 is so low
So thank goodness Bigscreen is here to make something that actually solves the problems I run into on a daily basis with my headset. It absolutely won't appeal to everyone, but that's fine. I'd rather buy a product that's great for me rather than mediocre for everyone
I should be getting mine by the end of the year and I can't wait
Sadly it is all about business. They won't invest if they can't see the potential market.
i just wish getting into pcvr was cheaper, both pc wise and headset wise. it's just so expensive, you're not buying that for your kid. and when you're out of high school you're drowning in debt. you're not getting into PCVR until MINIMUM mid to late 20's for most consumers. and what kind of market is that? no wonder interest in VR is slowly dwindling... until they solve the cost part standalone will just be the superior option.
This video is VERY well produced. I appreciate all the time and effort you put into this!
It hurts how badly I want this, but I'm just not ready to shell out $1500+ for it (as someone who doesn't already have an Index setup). I hope it doesn't take too long for this kind of tech to get cheaper though, because this looks incredible.
Makes you wish for an inside-out version to pair with the upcoming htc self tracking trackers
@@Nick_Morningstarit's only $1000 if you already have controllers and tracking. Still, not worth it lol
@@BlueSparxLPsThey never will, unless a superior tracking method is invented. As it stands, base station tracking is the best in terms of accuracy.
Thanks, for your review of the Beyond. This was a perfect rundown of it positives, negatives and it's proposed value.
I'm hoping that we keep this size format and start packing more and more advanced tech into it. We don't need anything slimmer, we need more put into what we have.
Love the review ♥ Big hopes for Beyond's future!
But it's also a very big challenge depending on display
Also i do dislike airlink immensely and recommend virtual desktop in case you don't know it exists. (It is about 20$ but i personally prefer it over airlink by far)
ever tried an high res vr headset tho? it realy makes an world of diffrence. it would mostly depend on what games you play. since most vr games dont look that good in the first place. so why bother then with high end vr and pc
and i guess its also just a play style. since i kinda never turn around but mostly just use the joystick which kinda became a second nature
Same - wires just have to go
Love the high quality videos as always!

I love the design. Just the right combination of futuristic and "just goggles."
I ordered it back in the first week pf march, this is what I needed to hear and am looking forward to trying it out myself in the next few weeks! I had not been in vr for a while because the index comfort fades after a few hours, Thanks thrill, And the music was bangin this video
Really hoping to upgrade from my quest 2 to the Beyond once I finish my degree. It just seems like exactly what I want
4 Dealbreakers for me:
- no eyetracking (i heavily depend on full face tracking as an Avatar creator)
- needs an iphone (in general it needs my face which im extremly uncomfortable with)
- FOV
- price
but im certain future headsets will become realy good allrounders aswell as being small, super excited for the future
The big thing about the vr market right now is that there really is no competition. You get a quest if you want something affordable or an index you want something high end. With new competition we can finally see companies trying to improve and innovate again

@@serineaaskold8428wait that's 1000 for just the headset?? That's nuts even the index was 600 standalone
@@Archman155 Yeah, the base stations will cost you about $150 each, and the controllers depend on what you buy. Knuckles for example will cost you around another $300. Thanks again Thrill!
I had an Index for 4 years and currently have an Aero, but I expect the Bigscreen Beyond to be my headset going forward.
@@markkovalcson7243 is there a specific reason why you say that?
@@markkovalcson7243 Thanks for that info!
Do you record voice also in the mask?
Clean your lenses! For goodness' sake. You complain about glare and your lenses are covered in grease. Get some Zeiss disposable lens wipes - by the look of it they might change your entire experience. Even the slightest grease on my glasses ruins my day, and every time I clean them (normally daily, with two wipes) it's a revelation how clear they really are.
I thought the same thing! If you arent cleaning those suckers then ofc you’re going to get some bad glare. It actually impressed me with how the glare wasnt THAT bad with all that grease
Thx for the nice update on the beyond 🙂😇🎉
I'm currently looking at the aero as an upgrade from quest 2.
I've got an aero..... and a beyond on order. I can't wait to compare them

I have wented that headset since i seen you use it. The fact that it's incredibly light gets me. Nice and intact
Good luck selling this, when its custom made

I went from a quest to an pimax 8kx. Which really is night and day😂
@DiyNuke Because you can't sustain and company selling a product like that. VR is already super niche, and the quest has basically destroyed any chance of a low end market.
Damn good video as always brother, looking forward to the next one.
bros masked in his house?
😭😭😭
It’s a channel branding thing I think
@@eggbag4182you sure it's not a virtue signal?
@@ryanpoe9791maybe he just wants to conceal part of his face or it's just a part of his brand. Not everything has to be virtue signaling.
@@ryanpoe9791he's used masks in his vids way before covid. It's definitely a brand thing
Here’s something you can do for a thrill: take off the lame mask and actually leave the house.

Just realized the outro song is also made by you! Love it, hope you can find the time to make more.
Down voted for promoting mask idiocy as a fashion statement.
It's impossible to take a guy seriously who wears a mask @ end of 2023.
Why are you wearing a mask at home lol
Because we live in 🤡🌎 now.
The design is sick. This is the first headset I've seen that looks cool to wear. It has a retro future look.
It honestly reminds me of the headset you see in the beginning of Edgerunners that david wears in the first episode
@@MrFiveHimself Exactly. I hope we start getting more cool designs soon. Most of the current ones look lame. They look too “clean”.
If they're already custom-scanning your dome, they might as well use audio-exciters to transmit the audio instead of typical headphones for audio.
Way to look like a party-animal mixed with a ninja, btw.
Good video, highly informative and nobody else is covering this. Hope the algorithm gets you
Why are you wearing a mask?
This man got stuck in the covid era
Bruh I just don’t show my face, chill
@@ThrillSeekerVRmaybe UA-cam isn’t for you

I have not, you're probably confusing me for someone else@@luisroman2144
Why are you wearing a mask?
I'm sure there's a joke behind it (hopefully), but I was wondering the same thing
I already knew how dope the beyond is but holy shit, my jaw dropped when you mentioned the mic. I didn't believe it.
finally someone did the violent headbanging shake test, that's one thing we underestimate as a factor for immersion which is what I hate about my front-heavy quest2.. this form factor is truly what VR needs.
Are you wearing a mask?
Nah its his skin
why do you mask your face?
Why wear a mask if you are already face doxxed lol
Why you wearing a mask man?
