Small Update:
Life Hack Number 6 (5:33): If you live in areas of the EU or an older home you might actually benefit from locking the headset to 50Hz instead of 60Hz. As 60Hz can sometimes clash with the lighting frequency of lights in your home 👀
Aren't we 50Hz in Australia too? Auto mode is best :)

I think you understand this setting wrong. It must be set to the frequency of you outlet. 60Hz is not better then 50Hz. Its just because the lights are flickering with that frequency and to filter the flicker out and make the tracking better you net to set it to the right setting. DONT just set it to 60Hz "because high numbers are good".

My favorite "Hack" is under experimental features. Turn on raised seat view to play sitting down. I am in a wheelchair and must play everything seated. Most shooters required standing so I couldn't play at all, or I would be crouched in game. So, if you can't stand for long or prefer to sit, this is how to do so.

Interesting tip, you can trigger passthrough by tapping on one side and then the other quickly. The two taps don't have to be on the same side. I actually find the passthrough is more responsive this way.

My life hack is to have a fan running, aiming at you while playing. Can help with motion sickness, and can allow you to know where you're facing, so you don't bang your wall while playing Gorilla Tag.

When hand tracking is on, pressing the oculus button will bring up several options and you can turn on pass-through from there which is much quicker than opening the menu
*An amazing tip that wasn’t featured:* if you go into experimental settings you can add a separate guardian for your couch that fits the size of your entire couch and makes it easy to switch back-and-forth from seated to standing gameplay

Been using that for a long time now, not sure why it is still in the "experimental" section, seems to work pretty well.
thats not a tip or a life hack: that just turning on a feature that is prominent in the settings🤭
A tip from me that a lot of people forget is cleaning the tracking cameras. So many people complain that their tracking has suddenly got worse when in reality it's just a fingerprint on a sensor that's caused it. A micro fibre cloth does the trick and the you're good to go

My personal favorite lifehack was the taking screenshots, and I really liked the tracking refresh rate too
A couple tricks: put something down, like a shirt or a small rug to use as a proxy mat so you always know where you are. Pair that with a fan pointing in front of you, and you have less chances of hitting something . It also greatly helps with motion sickness. Also, pass through mode is a lifesaver.
I used that one, but gave up after it kept slipping
But it is worth it
So I live in California and the fan originally was to just help me not have a heat stroke. Lol. I found out quickly that it doubles as a location indicator while playing too.
@@cyx7784 I use my couch. I have it set up as the couch boundary, so I can still see it if I get close, and I know exactly where I am if I can feel the couch with my leg really quickly.

For the life hack at 6:00 in the experimental settings you can actually now add a couch area into your room and by entering it the headset will automatically bring up a prompt to disable guardian and enter stationary mode.
Edit: this also doesn't require developer mode to be enabled
I done this added all my living room objects (tv, couch, table and units and found it useless if you set boundaries as they don't appear until you practically hit any of them, the wall barriers appear couple feet away but not the added objects
They removed it recently for some reason
My favorite feature is enabling the 90Hz refresh rate. Although the Quest 2 features a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, it ships programmed to 72Hz straight from the box.
Sharing videos with yourself via messenger: setup a messenger group with 2 other friends, then remove the friends from the group. This leaves you with a place you can share the videos from your Oculus that isn't public and you can download them to your phone, or any device

Before I knew about the disabling guardian tip I use to just make my guardian way bigger than the room I was playing in, and just ignored the warning when it told me there was objects in my boundary

Favorite life-hack: If you go into settings and explore everything on it, you’ll notice some features like the “double-tap guardian” trick. Explore each game’s settings as well. My favorite one is to switch over movements from warping to walking. Didn’t know how many games let you actually do this. Setting adjustments in general are just phenomenal.

My favorite “hack” is just using the battery extension pack. If you charge the vr through the battery pack, it charges up with 200% battery with 100 from each pack. The battery pack replaces the flimsy strap that comes with it by making the design where the pack is on the back of the head and uses a dial to tighten the sides. It keeps it in place but you have to remember the top strap still needs to hold as much weight as possible. As someone who could never play without adjusting those flimsy straps, the battery pack is a must.

I think one of the best life hacks that I use for when friends play my quest is when I’m in the oculus app watching them, in the little menu you can manually recenter them instead of having to teach them the bottoms and everything.

life hack is having a mat in the center of your play space, a real life saver
that wont help me my floor is carpet

Also put a fan point at you on one side of the place space. That way you can tell not only where you are but what direction your facing as well
relatable... am using same thing whenever i play... i just take some random circle carpet and it works just fine even with carpets in the whole house...
I use a door mat but it’s rectangular so it kind of makes it annoying it’s also to small and a life hack I can give you is when you want to charge and play take a 25 ft or more extension cord plug it in and tie the other end around your waist plug in the charger to the cord then the headset and you can charge and play and not have to worry about ripping the plug out of the outlet
for the guardian thing, instead of turning it off using developer mode, I set it beyond my play area limits, and use a small circle mat to keep me safe from striking walls and furniture

9:35 Correction: you can get photos and videos from your quest to your phone using cloud services like google drive or even discord. Just go to those websites with the browser and upload them, then access them on your phone using the mobile app/website

Or, as a 'longer method' alternative, when access them from your computer have your phone connected to the PC as well and simply transfer the files from the headset to your phone.
Just plug in the charging cord to your quest and android phones usb-c charging port :/
My best tip: Do not try to place your controllers on a vr desk

Enabling PASSTHROUGH without taking off my headset was the ONE thing I wanted since I got this headset... thank you.
I found that using an office chair that spins works really well. I play Contractors. It's more comfortable sitting down, instead of kneeling to take cover. The chair help with quick head movements instead of using your controller. I had to use a hair tie as an extension for the controllers, my hands wont fit the other way. Nice video.
6:30 an alternative to disabling guardian now is the 'experimental' option of defining a desk or couch in or outside of the guardian area. When you then sit on the couch or at the desk it automatically asks if you want to switch to desk or couch mode.
Also you can just turn off your lights or cover up the sensors then guardian will turn off automatically

Thanks for the video and the information. One thing - if you have the Oculus app on your mobile phone then if it is linked to the oculus quest 2 - easy process - you can just transfer all your images and videos from the quest 2 to your phone via the app. This means that in the quest 2 you will go to the media and request to transfer it to your connected devices. When you open your connected devices, you will find your media in the area for media. You then can save it to your phone by pressing save. You don't need to go through facebook. I've had my quest 2 for over a year and this is how I transferred selfies and selfie movies from the quest 2 to my phone.
Life hack strap for hand controls. In this post you show how to connect the controller strap around the top this is what I did but I used a shoe string just cut it longer than the controller strap and tie a not and push it into place. This is for larger hands it's work great.
My personal favourite is placing a small elastic or loom band around the batteries before putting them into the controllers. It stops them from jumping around during particularly fast movements. Decreases on those random split second tracking issues you tend to see otherwise!
Best life hack is to put your couch in with experimental mode, so when you get tired you can pass out on it.

My ipad has a usbc cable and it actually works, i used that cable to get sidequest from my laptop to my oculus.
And you can press sync on the oculus and then on the meta quest app i have it in the gallery place

if you ever get controller wobble (Where the battery shakes in the controller; mostly a problem on oculus quest 1) you can use tinfoil to tighten the battery in place while still allowing it to conduct electricity still. This can help improve tracking as well. Also quest controllers are supposed to use 1.5 v batteries instead of 1.2 v which are more commonly used. This also helps get just a little but better tracking.
I just learned my favorite quest hack:
In the air link/ link dash you can pin a monitor and it will stay in place in the PCVR game. I've added an extra display in my diamondback explorer in elite dangerous and have been mapping planets while streaming movies.

Best hack i found is in the experimental settings you can add a couch or desk to the vr space and it allows you to transition between two guardian zones without taking the headset off.
not a hack, just toggling an existing feature on. you can define different guardians throughout your house and as you pass out of one you enter passthrough. when you enter the next guardian, passthrough is disabled and you recenter to continue.

if anyone is like me and cant get the battery covers off, using a razorblade or boxcutter blade to just BARELY pry them apart will pop them off like a charm. Just don't be to aggresive with it you should barely have to wiggle the blade
Great tips man the 60hz tracking will hopefully help and the double tap passthrough is a game changer (Feels slightly better and the double tap to passthrough is life changing)

Thanks for the tips! I record video (and stop recording) by using voice activated command.
To start voice activation double click the oculus button. Then say 'start recording' or 'start video'
Then double click when you want to stop and say 'stop recording'. That saves you from going in and out of the menu.
*You'll have to turn on voice activation in settings--> Device --> In app voice commands, if you want this to work from inside an app.
There is also a setting in the experimental set to use 'Hey Facebook' to turn on the voice command activation.
Also to send video to my phone I send it in messenger to myself. Or a trusted friend. Then I can go to messenger in my phone and save it to my camera roll. :) Same goes with pictures I take in oculus.

When you export the recordings over to your pc, does it include microphone audio or is it just "in-quest" audio?
Great video. I wanted to add that there is no need to turn off guardian if you just want to sit down and use the Oculus. It allows me to define a stationary boundary while still remembering the previous larger boundary. I can then move back and forth between the two situations without turning off guardian.
Yep, that's a great option. However you would still see the bleu circle on the ground, and the transition to passthrough when coming close to the edges. Disabling guardian totally remove all of those (at the cost of security, of course).
I've had mine a week, really loving it, the standard headband takes a hell of a lot of work to find the perfect fit, on my mission looking for a aftermarket headband.
@@Callumxfisher well oculus sent me an email saying they had issues with the headband /facepart causing skin irritation, and sent me a brand new silicone part. Enjoy 👍

When you wanna use stationary mode just made a huge guardian with roomscale so you dont have to worry about getting to close the the wall and ruin the immersion experience
If your hands are too big for the strap on the controller (my hands are huge and this still works), just use the same looping strategy with a rubber band and then loop the strap through that and so on so forth.
For anybody without a developer account and wants to get rid of guardian/tracking switch tacking from room scale to stationary then cover the sensors to avoid light then click continue without tracking and it should allow you to do what you want.
Best life hack is hitting the ceiling fan and cutting the tendons in your finger “vr echo”
