If Arthur was still in his prime, Micah wouldn't have a chance, he waited until Arthur was at his weakest to fight him, because he knew he wouldn't stand a chance

I just noticed this, when Dutch and Micah have Arthur and John at gun point, Javier is the only one hesitating. He doesn’t want to kill his only true friends. It’s a absolute shame that he got blinded by Dutch and his ideas about loyalty.
@Nick Martin: Also Javier was the only one who wasn't present when Arthur revealed Micah was a rat, maybe that would have changed the side he was standing on?
Saddest part is that literally EVERYONE in the gang who'd either died or left before this mission all would've sided with Arthur. Hosea, Lenny, Sean, Kieran, Charles, Uncle, Pearson, Josiah, Mary-Beth, Molly and Karen, probably the Callander Boys and Jenny had they not died after Blackwater, hell, maybe even Swanson and Strauss if they knew how to shoot.
Not to mention, they all agreed with Arthur that Dutch was going insane. Arthur was the heart and soul of the gang - Trelawny only talked to him before he left, not Dutch, same with Reverend, Tilly, Abigail, Sadie and Jack.
Strauss actually knows how to use a gun in one of the missions where the gang tries to sell a herd of sheep in Valentine he grabs a gun off one of the dead Pinkertons and starts shooting with John and Dutch
The Dark Knight Hosea was the reason Dutch didn’t go mad. You’ll realise that as soon as he died, Dutch made an irrational decision by allowing John to be captured.
fax but i think kieran wouldve be that loyal too if he had a chance.... btw charles is elite. Saddest part is that literally EVERYONE in the gang who'd either died or left before this mission all would've sided with Arthur. "You're pathetic Micah, can't even kill a dying man". Even Arthur knows it, lmao. I really want to see a scene of him fighting Arthur even at the early stages of his TB. That's probably one of the reasons why Micah didn't want to overstep his boundaries with Arthur until he's at death's door.
Modern gaming? Try art as a whole. Every punch I threw in Micah's face was the catharsis needed after the entire game, starting with a snowstorm in the moments. Legitimately the one of the most earned moments in all fiction.
Chaptor 1: Arthur saves John from mountains Chaptor 2: Arthur saves John from being killed by Cornwall's man(last mission) Chaptor 3&4: Arthur helps John get Jack back Chaptor 6: Arthur saves John from prison, Saves Abigail from Milton, and finally helps John get back to his family in the last mission... Without Arthur, Non of Marston's family member would survive
The reason why Abigail save Arthur is because Arthur try to save Abigail if you don't realise yet if Arthur doesnt came to save Abigail Abigail would be in prison or death
He was half dead, and still kicking ass like a true warrior, he fought to the very end, thanks for everything Mr. Morgan, may you rest in peace, maybe in death you find that peace you never truly know.
One insane detail I noticed once rewatching this mission. So when I beat the Epilogue with John I had every gun Arthur had, except the Carcano Rifle. I was confused why the game kept track of every other gun that belonged to Arthur and gave me them all, yet forgot the best sniper rifle in the game, especially since it was given to you in a story mission. But upon revisiting the final mission with Arthur, right before he takes off to confront Milton, I saw that he physically drops the Carcano rifle on the ground. So Arthur effectively left that gun behind on top of that light house and never gave it to John. Pretty awesome detail!
The thing is, Arthur never gave John any of his guns, only his satchel and it's contents. John also tells Charles that it was too dangerous for him to go back at the time, so he couldn't have collected the weapons then. It would've been better if the player wasn't given their weapons back until after reuniting with Charles (since he buried Arthur), because it's not explained how John has Arthur's guns.
Juan B. I might be wrong but weren’t the guns still on the horse ? I thought when John said it was too dangerous to go back he implied Arthur and the camp, but the horse was just in the little clearing so I assumed he just went there
Dutch didn’t care about Micah shooting Grimshaw because she had already chosen her side. They were literally a standoff and Grimshaw decided to let her guard down and take her eyes off of Micah, of course she would get shot
@@fatcunt5856 I dont know if your being serious but no Charles said "word got to me up north so I went back and buried him (arthur) and miss grimshaw" to john in the epilogue
33:08 This moment always struck me. The first time Dutch is rendered speechless and he understands the gravity of all of his failures. The many senseless gang deaths, the inability to see the ones truly loyal to him, and the realization that his moral philosophies were an excuse for his violent and vengeful nature. While Micah helped fuel Dutch's worst traits, ultimately Dutch destroyed this gang from within and he can no longer lie to himself even when he tries to here.
Arthur's final words to Dutch was "I gave you all I had" so Dutch couldn't use the excuse of Arthur being disloyal. He died trying to get through to him
Remember the guy in the Valentine saloon, and Bertrand? Yeah...Micah wouldn't have stood a fucking chance. Also,@@trickyvic6501 , I'm pretty sure he did, actually, and I'm surprised it didn't go anywhere. 29:46 He even wipes his mouth the same way Arthur did when Downes infected him.
I love how the Micah vs Arthur fist fight shows just how freaking tough Arthur was. Nearly dead from tuberculosis and still beats down Micah. Man was tough as an ox. He even proves Micah wrong by reaching his gun. It's only when Dutch steps on his hand that Arthur's will to fight finally evaporates. Dutch chose Micah over him and that's what beat Arthur.
@@tissuepaperscent like bro said, Arthur's will to fight broke the moments Dutch stopped him. Arthur is at the doorsteps of death, and his only living father figure just stopped him from killing the person that has ruined their lifes. Micah is the reason Dutch went on to attack the boat in Black Water, he murders a family in strawberry (which could lead the Pinkerton's to them) And even ratted the crew out. Arthur saw no way out.
@@FezMooseLiveThats some great explanation, but tbh If you look at Micah right after Dutch stopped Arthur you can see that he already reached for his Second revolver, wich demonstrates that Arthur Lost his only chance to drop Micah dead, since he was too weak after the fist fight to outgun Micah after Dutch stepped out of the gun
It's interesting how RDR and RDR 2 final missions use different aproach. In RDR you don't see it coming and it's a shock, in RDR 2 you saw that miles away and it's a sense of resolution. Work perfectly in both cases for the protagonists, Arthur and John, and for the player too.
Yeah. It's basically the first mission of Chapter 6, where Arthur discovers his illness, and yet this doesn't take away from the Finale at all. Heck, maybe it makes it even better emotionally.
"Who is betraying me?" Says dutch when a 6 month old gang member kills a 20+ year old gang member That only shows how much he got blinded by micah and the money
32:35 that “oh, Dutch…he’s a rat” is so heartbreaking. He’s willing to use his last breathe to continue pleading with Dutch to see what’s right in front of him. Not bitching Dutch out for leaving him and John for dead, not telling Dutch how he turned his own gang against him, and not guilt tripping Dutch for not realizing (or caring) that Arthur was OBVIOUSLY dying right in front of him little by little. Till the very end, he’s pleading with him to see the truth. I see it as a sign of love despite everything. He already knew he was dying..he didn’t have to clear his own name and he didn’t have anything more to prove. It’s like Arthur’s one last act/warning to have Dutch’s back. He was his right hand man till the end, despite all the betrayal. And the 33:01 “I gave you all I had. I did” was just the nail in the coffin for me. My little heart couldn’t take anymore lol. I was sobbing.
Very evident in the dialogues between the two. When pressing Micah at camp or purposely standing close to him for long periods Micah backs down quickly and walks away when Arthur is healthy and strong. As Arthur's TB progresses Micah becomes bolder in the words he uses and in how he responds. He fears less and starts to take a more dominant position in being able to take on Arthur. Respond aggressively with Micah at all times in camp, and this shows up real quick.
Arthur's last ride through the woods with the golden tint gets me everytime. He is such a beautifully crafted character and I will always be thankful that Rockstar brought him into our world.
I've played every Rockstar game since GTA 3. No words can describe how much of a character Authur Morgan was. As terms of story, in my personal opinion, he's the best character in Rockstar's history. I was skeptical at first seeing the trailer, but with the slow build to this mission is worth every penny and the long download to start the game. Rest In Piece Authur Morgan.

Here’s the thing, Micah had been making plans with Dutch and leading him to good robberies, he had Dutch rapped around his finger, and Arthur seemed like a crazy dying man
the reason why he trusted micah over arthur is because micah was sucking up to dutch and telling him what he wanted to hear. arthur on the other hand is cautioning him against doing crazy stuff which causes dutch to believe he’s unfaithful
Notice that Javier doesn't point his gun at Arthur and John, but points it towards the sky. His actor improvised that, to show his conflicting loyalties.
@@fgwrts what he said was right tho the voice actor didnt want javier to aim a gun at them so they changed it. And as i see at 20:56 the barrel of his revolver isnt aiming direct at them but a bit above them.
32:41 You can see Dutch's facial expression, he knew that he failed. Arthur is dying in front of him, his so called "son", who has been loyal to him for 20 years. He's regretting it, and I know he knows Micah was the rat, he just don't wanna admit it. Dutch shot Micah for his redemption. What a great game, Rockstar.
Dutch never truly redeemed himself because of RDR1. He was always a vengeful type, so he either wanted to kill Micah because he learnt Micah was the rat or because he nearly killed Arthur. Or both. But you are right. Dutch did realise that he had not only failed as a leader, who promised to get them to freedom, but also as a mentor, a father figure, and a brother.
The fact that dutch let a new recruit bring his friends over and break up the gang he once called his family for over 20 years, leaving him completely alone.
It's interesting that as Micah was gesturing for Dutch to come with him at the end, he seemingly would have led Dutch right towards the Pinkertons who were on their way up the hill. Very possible that Micah was trying to turn Dutch in right then and there, didn't seem like Javier or Bill were around to do anything about it either...
Dutch, the Brave leader............Ran away when he was faced with his failures, A good leader takes responsibility but Dutch blamed everyone else for his mistakes but here he couldn't blame anyone. He was the one to side with the rat

Probably scary detail in this mission At 18:34, When Arthur enter the camp, you can see the pinkertons already lurking behind Arthur if you look very closely between the trees. You can see at 18:36 that Micah actually looking at the pinkertons, to know that they're already in position. My best guess that micah shot at Susan was a signal for the pinkertons to get ready for raiding the camp. At 18:55, one of the pinkerton' men clearly seen with his horse near Arthur's hat. Right side from us, left side for Arthur.
What a redemption for Arthur. Godamn he is the best character. Even knowing the gang fall apart, suffered from TB,he still never gave up. The end he saved other people and John for a final ultimate redemption .What a fine character.👏👏
Yes, it just so sad, I could have asked you to stop giving comments, but it's just too sad to read or even hear songs like Unshaken. Realizing that everything in the gang is falling apart and he would die from tuberculosis, Arthur tried his best to do the rightful and loving thing, which is to save those he can save and let Dutch and Micah rot, as the good Reverend Swanson suggestes
But I also wonder why did Javier go and work for the government in Mexico 🇲🇽 even though he was already emotionally broken after what happened with the gang.
@@carlosparga8378 Trying to find protection. He know the pinkertons are now after him, Mexican government probably made him a promise that they would protect him if he fight for them. They must have know Javier used to fight against the government, and is still a damn good fighter, so they want him, and they want to get revenge on him and to humiliate him. They must have broken him, to fight for the people he hates the most. Perhaps they have "given him a reason to fight" like they did John. Who knew, on the other side, the Mexican government could have kidnapped someone or something from him as well.
Except that in Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2, both stories are about redeeming themselves for past mistakes/behaviour. It shows that the only real redemption is in death. The title in itself is a spoiler, as that is the meaning to the game.

A lot of people don't understand why Micah doesn't kill Arthur in the High Honor endings, but i have 2 ideas as to why: 1) Micah knows Arthur is about to die and thinks it's better if he just let him suffer. 2) Micah admits that he lost and that Arthur is the better man. Even though Micah hated Arthur from the start, he respects Arthur for putting up a good fight even while he's a few minutes from death. So he leaves him to die honorably and to be at peace with himself. But yeah those are just my thoughts.

@@matthewthurber3807 okay, that still wouldn't make sense why he would run out of fear. At the end of the game after John kills him, the agents go his new camp indicating they kept tabs on him and he is a close informant.
I like to think that the sun rising while Arthur is dying symbolises John’s fresh start on the road to redemption. His family has been saved and he’s on his way to see them. I also finished this game today, a true masterpiece in every way.
Year late, but in a conversation that Arthur can have with Lenny and Hosea, they ask each other how they want to die, Lenny's & Hosea's responses were to be buried with friend or family which is what they got. Arthur said he wanted to face the setting sun and remember all the good memories. But dying facing the sunrise shows hes looking into the future, John's future. At least thats how i like to think
I thought that I should do a low honor playthrough after finishing it with high honor. But honestly I think I couldn't bring myself to do it. This is just too fitting. The game's name is Red Dead *Redemption* after all, it's a story about an outlaw redeeming himself. Seeing Arthur as the good side of the gang is fitting as well, as he nears death more and more as the good characters keep on dying. I couldn't play a dishonorable Arthur. Maybe I'll watch a playthrough of it, but I'm not playing it.
None of the other endings have Arthur die entirely of TB and weakness. All the other endings it either a knife or a gun. Even in the high honor go for the money ending, Micah stabs Arthur he just doesn’t finish him off.
@@madjack1748 Honestly, I can't do this mission without watching Arthur mourn for his horse. It's such a great scene imo because your horse has been your companion for most (if not the entirety) of the game and it dies just moments before its owner's death, being his loyal mount till the very end

love that in the beginning, Arthur was on Dutch's right side and Micah on his left symbolize Arthur is his angel and Micah is the devil. Dutch knew what Micah said about let Abigail go wasn't right, that is why he looked at Arthur but he chose to listen to the devil because of too much pride.
in most cutscenes in Chapter 6 that involve Dutch & Micah, you’ll see that Micah is usually always on Dutch’s left side and not his right. i remember thinking the same thing, Micah was Dutch’s Devil and Arthur was his Angel

Joshua he would honestly. arthur fought for change and followed someone who he believed could change the world for the better. after tb, he also changed as a person. arthur helped a mother and her son in poverty, he kicked out someone who caused them that poverty, he helped native americans who died of sicknesses because the army wouldn’t give them medicine, he helped john be with his family and live a good life, i think that would grant you heaven.
“I gave you all I had Dutch.” This game is something else. I’ve seen sad movies but damn nothing ever compares the sadness I felt playing this game. Just finished chapter 6 for a third time tonight.
i've never found myself so emotionally invested in any other game, i was sobbing as john and arthur rode away from dutch and the pinkertons. could barely even fight back against micah because the tears were fucking up my vision 💀

I've never actually felt like this to a game or movie. After I played it, I decided to devote my life to being like Arthur, a man of honor and redemption.
I just can't get over the damn fact that Dutch clearly saw Micah shoot Mrs Susan, a woman that Dutch loved, and still sided with Micah. Also when you think about it, Micah caused the death of Sean(when they didn't see that it was a setup), Molly(the gang thought that she was the rat even though he was the rat), Mrs Susan(He shot her), and you could technically count Arthur( if you have low honor, he shoots arthur, and even if you have high honor, he fights with Arthur and makes him closer to death), and for me personally I think that he caused Hosea and Lenny's death, he could have gave tips to the Pinkertons without them knowing it was Micah. Also He manipated Dutch and made him turn on the gang.
Naw, Micah just hated Arthur more and more, so much that he was willing to leave all that money behind just to catch up with Arthur on the hill and try to kill him.
This is probably a joke, but Micah wanted to kill Arthur because he was helping John escape. Micah didn’t want John to escape. He wanted to kill John too.
I love how Javier was hesitating at pointing his gun at Arthur and John since he’s always cared and loved them. Throughout chapter six, he tried to make the situation better by saying how they all need to stick together and believe in Dutch. Seeing the gang get ripped apart really did mess him up the most. After the gang is done, Bill and Micah start their own successful ruthless gangs, Dutch disappears, Mary Beth becomes a successful writer, Tilly marries a wealthy man and lives a good life, John and his family also disappear, Sadie also, which leaves him to going back home to Mexico all sad and alone. After I finished rdr2, I replayed rdr1. I killed Javier instead of giving him over to the agents because they probably would’ve taunted him and humiliated him before executing him. I’d rather he get killed by someone he loved and cared for rather than the law who he’s been running from all his life
if everyone who's played this game saw themselves as part of the gang everyone would tear into dutch shouting that he is choosing to side with someone who's only been running with the gang less than an a year over Arthur who's been with Dutch for 22 years

I didn't know thats how she was going to die. I paused for a while to process wtf just happened. then arthurs ending.. I just didn't play anymore after that 😂
God I love Sadie. She had a very good character arc, and in the in she turns into a straight up ride-or-die for the rest of the decent members of the gang. She rode with Arthur with no hesitation. I love it.
You can see the sadness in Dutch’s eyes when Arthur says, in his sick, and dying voice.. “Oh, Dutch.. he’s a rat.” Maybe Dutch did care after all.. and maybe that decision he made, maybe that made him mad. (as seen in RDR1)
In the end everyone died. Hunted down by John himself, only to be killed himself. Its quite the tragedy. Shakespeare only did it so people don't expect a sequel. Rockstar did it because women say men are monsters for not crying during the Titanic.
@@X.3.N.0.N.2 rockstar did it because an emotional death to an attached character makes people automatically remember the game better, love it more, spread it more and cherish it. Waking up emotions sells

He also realized that Arthur, who he said meant more to him than a son, was practically killed my his own hand. He realized Micah was the rat. He realized that the gang was no more.
In the epilogue of the game when you kill Micah you can go back to his hideout and take his revolver off his corpse engraved on the barrel of the weapon is "Vengeance is hereby mine" so that's why when you choose to save John and you have high honor the game doesn't let you grab Micah's gun because Arthur isn't about Vengeance in this scene he's about Redemption
Right from the start I liked how they potrayed the human horse relationship. I liked it so much that I never killed even an enemy's horse on purpose. I just noticed this, when Dutch and Micah have Arthur and John at gun point, Javier is the only one hesitating.
He doesn’t want to kill his only true friends. It’s a absolute shame that he got blinded by Dutch and his ideas about loyalty.
Yet he leaves John to die.
Joshua Zero Pretty sure he didn’t know John was alive and believed Dutch that he was dead.
Joshua Zero he shows this by being surprised when he arrived at camp
@Nick Martin: Also Javier was the only one who wasn't present when Arthur revealed Micah was a rat, maybe that would have changed the side he was standing on?
Cian Mulvey true, but you can see that his hand his shaking when he’s trying to aim at them.
I love how you put Kieran in there. He’s underrated and I was genuinely upset when he died.
Not to mention, they all agreed with Arthur that Dutch was going insane. Arthur was the heart and soul of the gang - Trelawny only talked to him before he left, not Dutch, same with Reverend, Tilly, Abigail, Sadie and Jack.
YOU THINK STRAUSS KNOWS HOW TO FIRE A GUN
Strauss actually knows how to use a gun in one of the missions where the gang tries to sell a herd of sheep in Valentine he grabs a gun off one of the dead Pinkertons and starts shooting with John and Dutch
Callander boys would 100 percent side with arthur specially mac because i think theyre bestfriends
19:14 If Hosea, Lenny, Sadie, Charles, Sean, and Kieran where there they would have defiantly sided with Arthur, John, and Miss Grimshaw.
The Dark Knight Hosea was the reason Dutch didn’t go mad. You’ll realise that as soon as he died, Dutch made an irrational decision by allowing John to be captured.
if hosea was there he wouldn't have left micah make dutch an asshole
And if Charles is there, things might've turn different
Sean too
And that would have been a epic fight to the end.

This moment always struck me.

A lot of people don't understand why Micah doesn't kill Arthur in the High Honor endings, but i have 2 ideas as to why:
1) Micah knows Arthur is about to die and thinks it's better if he just let him suffer.
2) Micah admits that he lost and that Arthur is the better man. Even though Micah hated Arthur from the start, he respects Arthur for putting up a good fight even while he's a few minutes from death. So he leaves him to die honorably and to be at peace with himself.

Honorable Arthur + Help John get to safety is the only canon ending. Period.
Also max horse bonding if you feel like crying
@@madjack1748 Honestly, I can't do this mission without watching Arthur mourn for his horse. It's such a great scene imo because your horse has been your companion for most (if not the entirety) of the game and it dies just moments before its owner's death, being his loyal mount till the very end
Yeah,right.
When I played RDR1, I cried at the end when John died. When I started this game, I told myself I wouldn’t cry if Arthur was gonna die. Boy oh boy was I wrong. Dutch is finally forced to see how much he had lost. Arthur is dying, John has abandoned him, most of the gang is dead and He knows now that Micah played him like a fool. He couldn't blame Arthur of being disloyal anymore when he said "I gave you all I had"

Years before the events of the game Dutch and Ms Grimshaw dated
Sir Pandaa He also wore white in the bank robbery so the Pinkerton’s wouldn’t shoot him
