Rains Fall’s story is super similar Dutch’s. Dutch lost his gang, Annabelle, his best friend for 20 years (hosea), his 2 best sons (Arthur and John), all this while being corrupted by Micah, and his mind. Very similar to Rains fall. Maybe this also shows that Dutch was a good person until Micah
I love how John always share with everyone that Arthur saved his life. Just like he wanted people to think good of him after his death, and show to them that he was a good man.
and you can even tell that he's saying it like he's been holding it in for years. he has no one he can really vent to about how much arthur meant to him until he talks to these people again. super good voice direction and acting.
Mr Silver well only certain people, but think about it how many women has he widowed and how many children did he orphan? not the best morally correct character but still my favorite character ever, even cried at his death scene
James St.Patrick Yeah, that’s what made him amazing. His whole life he wasn’t a good man, but at the end he tried to do his best to help those who needed it. He was a complex human being, with emotions that ran deep.
James St.Patrick Arthur was always a good man at heart. You could tell by the letters Mary sent him. He was conflicted between being loyal to his family (The Gang) and Eliza. A good man in a bad world. In the end I believe he died as the man he always was, after he realised where his loyalty should lay.
Redemption is the game's title as well as a central theme, perhaps the most important one. We should all aspire to do the same before leaving for the realm of the dead, even if it's just improving one single person's life.
James St.Patrick That’s on player input though, which makes me question how you played the game to know this, but to each their own. His only time off-screen was when he lost his only child and wife. He talks about this with Rains Fall.
And that's what we call a "legacy" Arthur was a man greater than life itself, and that's why he is a greater protagonist than John, as far as I'm concerned as well (and Iove me some Red Dead 1)
Playing RDR1 really feels different. I know Arthur wasn’t written as a character till well after the game came out, but imagining John riding through the countryside, thinking of him before his every action really brings a tear to my eye. Never thought I could love a character more than John, until Arthur came along. Well done Rockstar, well done.
If this rdr1 remake is true I’d love to see what they did in the epilogue with Arthur and John. When you play as John the fact you can hear Arthur sometimes while playing shows that John is forever grateful for his sacrifice even though he got a bit cocky and fucked everything up. I think throughout the remake they should add in Arthur’s lines. For instance, before john says to Abigail and Jack to run and don’t look back in the barn, he thinks for a second. I think that there would be a perfect place to but an Arthur Morgan line of when he said the exact same thing to john in Arthur’s final mission
@@Huron47people for some reason think Arthur would've been on John's mind 24/7 after he died, despite RDR1 taking place more than a decade after Arthur's death. really, I think the only real action influenced by Arthur would've been his sacrifice at the end of the game, where he even retroactively quotes Arthur.
@@JoaoS13 It's strange, with this video I just figured out that there was something interesting to see there but when I went there with John a few weeks ago, there was only the widow's corpse laying on her floor and I could only carry her body 🤔 I probably visited her too late because it was right before the last missions before the end of the game, and she starved I guess, and then I found an interesting easter egg :)
No my bad, I checked on Internet and I found her dead because I only visited her once with Arthur while I could have visited her two times... So I can only find her dead with John in that case... It's crazy how every detail of the game has already been discovered 🤩
@@no_wa_yy2175 this game is a masterpiece. Poor Charlotte, you should replay it to do her missions, with Arthur. Great interactions and dialogues.. I wish they were in a romantic relation so badly
Hamish is my personal favorite person to visit as John.. he shows off Arthur’s trophies in a way you’d hear a parent show off their kids accomplishments. Rockstar did such a phenomenal job turning Arthur into like an atmosphere during the end of the game.
Doing last Hamish' mission as John is the best way to do it in my opinion. Not only you get this awesome cutscene where Hamish talks about Arthur but you also get to ride Buell much longer than you would as Arthur.
Actually that's what makes me most sad... That arthur died alone, that Dutch didn't have his back and that nobody out of the Gann really cares that he is dead... Like strangers are sorry and all that and the gang doesn't even care
The gang members knew Arthur, they knew towards the end he wasn’t well, no matter how much he denied it. They knew of a bullet didn’t kill him, TB would. Total strangers didn’t though, they saw a man who took the time of day to talk with them, help them.
God_complex Yeah true but Arthur was basically equal to Dutch with how much work he did. He was Dutch’s son. Arthur was basically second in command besides hosea. So you would think people would be more regretful that Arthur died he was always nice to everyone too at least in my first play through.
I think it's beautiful how quick John is to talk about Arthur in this game. Like, any chance he's given he tells people that Arthur gave his life to save Johns, like he's trying to hold onto and preserve the memory of Arthur, and that's just such a wonderful addition to his character. And rightly so, as he said, Arthur was his brother, and he's doing all he can to keep his memory alive
@@Ufifid-r8o and thats why this story makes even less sense. the only thing from rdr2 that makes sense, is the strange man talking about heidi in rdr1 that john forgot her face. never once was there any reference to arthur because indeed he did not exist. so this story is complete bullshit. fact. and you just explained why.
@@deathrager2404well why would John want to keep talking about Arthur in RDR1 when he’s already told the people he knows about what Arthur did for him, it would make no sense if John rambled about Arthur to some random guy that has no idea who Arthur is which probably meant he possibly forgot about Arthur which then leads to the top hat man saying “you’ve forgotten more important people then me”
It was really sad to see how they had all gone about their own lives and separate ways... reminded me of all my childhood friends i was close with until high school
Thinking on it, Arthur was really the only one that regularly had interactions with everyone in camp. John probably kept to his own, so those like Tilly, Pearson, and Mary-Beth probably never really had a relationship with John besides being in the same gang.
Rains Fall’s response really hit me the first time. Arthur’s death felt like losing a friend, but he’s hardly mentioned after his death. Seeing Rains Fall brought it back.
Mary-Beth is one of the most wholesome encounters John has. The others all sound a bit awkward and strange, while she immediately brightens up as soon as she recognises John
@Erebus it's not called the bad ending officially, it's referred to as the low honour ending. People say it's the bad ending but it actually makes the most sense if you fully understand the characters and take the games main themes into consideration.
Erebus To be frank, the “good ending” doesn’t make sense. I don’t think Micah would just leave Arthur to die like that. Considering how jealous and pissed he was at him, it makes the most sense for him to shoot him out of spite. That and the whole vengeance Arc with John also makes no sense if Micah just left him there. You can argue that Arthur died because of the fight, but the Turbuculosis would not have let him live much longer regardless. So yeah, bad ending is best ending
UltraShiko what? it does make sense because Micah betrays the group and gets Lenny and Hosea killed. Idk what you’re on but having Arthur die a peaceful death trying to save John is much better than you making Arthur die out of greed, getting his brains blown out and then spat on. But I guess you’re just upset you got the bad ending, I’d prolly lie to myself if I got a shitty ending like that too, lmao thank god I didn’t.
I hate unhappy endings but Arthur’s ending on high honour left me super satisfied, Arthur died a good man protecting the people he loves and fighting to stop the man who backstabbed all of them
Arthur's interactions with Charlotte Balfour always moved me the most. t was pure altruism: nothing transactional, no guilt driving the narrative, no gameplay boost, just scenes showing us the goodness of the character in his final days. And John's interaction honors that purity and simplicity. It's my favorite part of the game.
It's quite unexpected that some of the best characters in this game are only in those optional missions. We don't even have to do Charlotte's missions but when we do, oh damn, they are awesome and give Arthur a bit of closure. It's the same with sister Calderon. Those who do not finish her missions, do not get this emotional scene when Arthur talks about being afraid of dying.
@@MTGnEWbie420 You have to periodically check in on her and have Arthur teach her how to use guns and skin animals ect like a normal stranger mission chain but if you wait too long she dies.
I like how the gang weren't really affected by Arthurs death, but instead the strangers were the ones who thought highly of him. He went out of his way to help someone for probably no payment whatsoever and thought nothing of it. He affected someone's life for the better and that's what makes him memorable.
Yep, they knew very well what a bloody rasping cough meant in this time-frame. Nobody grew up to adulthood without knowing of someone who died of TB in the 1800s.
bruh its a game. every interaction is carefully crafted to illicit certain emotional responses. None of these people are real. Please go outside and touch grass if you cannot differentiate reality from fiction.
It's so heartbreaking when John almost tells everyone that Arthur saved his life before he passed. He's carrying all that sadness about Arthur on his shoulder and he tries to make EVERYONE remember Arthur as a good man by telling them the last good thing he did. R.I.P Arthur Morgan

I’ve noticed that strangers talk about Arthur more fondly than the gang. People forget, the gang saw the worst of Arthur and only a glimpse of the man he was trying to be at the end. The strangers saw more of the good man. In the end, the former members just want to move on, which is why they all seem quick to leave the reunion. “This sure has brought all the memories flooding back, not all of them good” encompasses it completely and perfectly.
@@j.4354 notice how I didn't speak highly of myself. Instead I said, I want my memory to be remembered fondly. I love how Charlotte started off as someone who litterally lost everything and looked like the wanted to end it all, but then with the help of Arthur she looks like she owns a trapper
I love how Biden started of as someone who literally lost everything and then with the help of trump he became a very successful person and then he just betrays trump
When I first got to free roam as John in RDR2, I damn near cried. Not because I dislike him, but because the absence of Arthur's warm presence, and his occasional "Your alright Boay" to his horse left me feeling empty inside...

Rains Falls must be the saddest one here. He remembers Arthur, but he's too lost with the death of Eagle Flies. I miss Arthor bro, people always complain about plot armor but the one time plot armor doesn’t protect our protagonist all the way, people are sad, crying even. Crazy huh?
I mean, it's ok for main characters to day, just look at Ezio. "Any friend of Arthur's is a friend of mine." I love that there are so many people in the world of Red Dead that share this mindset. Rains Fall is heartbreaking though, just the way he so gleefully tells John that his people are still around, up in Canada with better luck, but then when John asks why he's here instead... the way the camera zooms out slightly, the way Rains Fall pauses, before so brokenly muttering, "I don't know... my son, I suppose."
Anything resembling respect I had remaining for Dutch died when he ruined their tribe for no other reason than he thought it was opportune at the time.
For some reason, I've always read this scene as Rains Fall showing signs of early stages of dementia or Alzheimer's (which apparently has a high rate in indigenous populations). It just compounds the tragedy of chapter 6 because the people who should be there to look after him and the tribe in his old age (i.e. Eagle Flies and the other boys) aren't.

1:26 I don't know if it was intentional in the cutscene or just by sheer coincidence of the time of day, but I like how the sun in the background sort of blurs out John's facial features, and even alters them to somewhat make him look similar and even AS Arthur. It enforces that feeling that even when Arthur is gone, his influence in the world and on other people will always be present within their memories.
The scene where rain falls try’s to stop his tribe from attacking is one of the most heart-wrenching moments in the game. Idk but there was something about rain falls that made me really like him.
"He passed away, long time ago." What hurts me is that all of them have gotten over it already since it was 8 years later. But for us, it JUST happened a few moments ago. R* probably didn't want to mention Arthur during the epilogue that much be they know we'd break down.
And also they didn't mention Arthur very much it's because the storyline purposes. When RDR1 Is on development. Arthur Morgan didn't exist. Until like few years later when they start working the script for RDR2. They don't mention Arthur to much at Epilogue its because they trying to atleast cover the plot hole as much as they can. And also Arthur keep saying _"If the times come. Do not look back"_ to John he's trying to say "Do not look at the past" Because he know it would be painfull to remember.

The gang members knew Arthur, they knew towards the end he wasn’t well, no matter how much he denied it. They knew of a bullet didn’t kill him, TB would. Total strangers didn’t though, they saw a man who took the time of day to talk with them, help them.
U guys just dont get that it was a brutal Gang.

The fact that Micah has to say “you’re not better than me Morgan” is proof that he knows he’ll never be as good as Arthur
On the low honor ending yeah...
Ghost that’s the best ending.

He went out of his way to help someone for probably no payment whatsoever and thought nothing of it. He affected someone's life for the better and that's what makes him memorable.
The gang members already expected Arthur to be dead. They already passed thru it. They knew he was sick.
Yep, they knew very well what a bloody rasping cough meant in this time-frame. Nobody grew up to adulthood without knowing of someone who died of TB in the 1800s.

@@thiccnazty2152 I mean it's been nearly a decade since the gang split apart. At some point past events aren't all that important anymore, especially bad past events. She put the life behind her and found one she likes much more.
I like how John is basically continuously learning about how Arthur was such a great guy, heartwarming
Yeah man ! Personally for me this is the greatest storyline + npc’s for a game . The greatest.
He also told everyone Arthur not just died , but saved him.
Well Rockstar could make the game more nastier, there will be a second option while youre in the public bath. 1st one is to “accept the help of those hotels babe”, the 2nd one is right before finishing the bath, “is to further the conversation in a room (you know what i mean)”. My God, with that RDR2 will be one of the rarest game ever.
Stranger: hello, who ar-
John: Arthur died few years ago, he saved my life
😆😆😆
Probably because John has Arthur's journal
I love how sweet Charlotte is always like "please loot my house, please"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
PLEASE TAKE MY SHIT
"It would make me happy", Charlotte insisted.
"Well alright then", John replied with a smile as he stepped inside.
And once Charlotte was done reading for the day she went back in the house to warm herself by the fire, only to find it completely empty. The furniture, her underwear, the food, jewelry, even the motherfucking fireplace were all gone with the 'kind' stranger.
"Well shit..."

No point of playing with John ..... I miss Arthur’s voice ...especially with the horse “calm down girl “
“That’s my girl “
Everything seems pointless without Arthur
that’s why I went straight to replaying the game lol
Your not alone I just keep starting new games to listen to Arthur’s calming voice 😔
i feel the opposite. John is who I had first in the first Red Dead so it's refreshing to see what led up to his demise and the kind of person he was before everything. Arthur had a huge impact on his life.
I wonder whats the corelation between people who share this opinion and people who played the first game.
I can't replay a game i can't change my character fate,my friends gonna die...Arthur gonna die.
Play with John again was cool(100% on rdr1)but i can't change is fate as well and the tale is finished in my memory ,it's so sad.
I think rains fall has the first stages of alzheimerz, he didn't really know what he was doing and seems confused when he talks about his tribe and his son
I think it’s just because he was in such a state of depression and felt at a loss when his son died.
He lost two sons and his people's culture was raped. He was just old and tired. Waiting for the end.
Ese Muffin they live in Canada. Stop being so dramatic.
@ Who lives in Canada?
Ese Muffin rains fall does
1:26 I don't know if it was intentional in the cutscene or just by sheer coincidence of the time of day, but I like how the sun in the background sort of blurs out John's facial features, and even alters them to somewhat make him look similar and even AS Arthur. It enforces that feeling that even when Arthur is gone, his influence in the world and on other people will always be present within their memories.

Its cause john uses the same hair/beard models as arthur

The scene where rain falls try’s to stop his tribe from attacking is one of the most heart-wrenching moments in the game. Idk but there was something about rain falls that made me really like him.

That shot is perfect, you could even think Rain Falls confused John with Arthur.
😭😭😭
Donnie Darko I thought it was him
I almost thought they swapped models in the light like that
“I don’t know” sounds so weird like the voice actors holding a sneeze
exactly what i was thinking
Arthur: “saves johns life”
John: AUTHUR SAVED MY LIFE
Kieran: “saves Arthur’s life”
Arthur: No
Arthur saves Kieran’s life everyday he doesn’t kill him
Arthur did talk about Kieran saving his life a few times in the story
if you speak to Kieran in camp after Arthur saves him, Arthur will eventually thank him for saving his life. Though he does it rather reluctantly.
Sepulchrum I remember that. I was glad when he did.
After Keiran’s death you can read Arthur’s journal, in it he writes that Kieran saved his life and regrets not being able to his.
"He passed away, long time ago."
What hurts me is that all of them have gotten over it already since it was 8 years later. But for us, it JUST happened a few moments ago. R* probably didn't want to mention Arthur during the epilogue that much be they know we'd break down.
They mentioned him so much (depending on if you actually did something)
And also they didn't mention Arthur very much it's because the storyline purposes. When RDR1 Is on development. Arthur Morgan didn't exist. Until like few years later when they start working the script for RDR2.
They don't mention Arthur to much at Epilogue its because they trying to atleast cover the plot hole as much as they can.
And also Arthur keep saying _"If the times come. Do not look back"_ to John he's trying to say "Do not look at the past" Because he know it would be painfull to remember.
@@noobscoopsies1100 Yeah also thought this is the main reason. They can't put too much emphasis on the world Arthur left behind because of RDR1

Arthur was the Best character of video game history. He had such depth and complexity that his death Always brings tears, yet his entire life Can be described in one sentence.

Yup
William H. Thorsen Arthur is Joel’s great grand pappy ( from TLOU)
And Kratos.
His entire life can be described in one sentence.

I want them to make a RDR3 to were we play as young Arthur and his life and how he joined the gang i think i would be interesting on how his wife and son died
Yes but i wanna see what happened exactly at blacwater and before that they cant skip 22 years bcuz the gang was formed in 1878
Except it was never his wife but yeah
No playing as a young Dutch teaching Arthur is better
Think that's more of a DLC
@@linx_4672 Yeah but at that point, we'd be in the 1920s and 30s it wouldn't really feel like red dead.

Arthur: Come on Hosea lets go hunt a big heaven bear
Hosea: *NO NOT AGAIN*

@@saemyrhine one of the most memorable lines in the Prequel, its how John lived
It's funny arthur would never admit it but he's a good man deep down.
lets all just take a moment to appreciate that arthur has affected the world of rdr more than leviticus, micah, dutch, milton, colm and the strange man ever could.
Homeless man: " Yeah this kind feller had a big heart, and a strong look on his face"
John: oh that's Arthur lol, he died tho
That exchange is funny to me. The homeless dude gets deep with “Ive been standing here since 1870 and I’m slowly starving to death” and it’s like John tries to be even more depressing with something like “Yeah that was Arthur. He died but he saved my life before he died BECAUSE HE DIED”
I wish there be scene with John and Mary maybe at Arthur's grave that would be awesome
There is a little one in the end credits, it's a short moment but kinda gives you the closure
Lmao

I love how when John mentions to Mickey that Arthur has died you can see the sun shine down on them
The sad thing is if it weren’t for Arthur almost the whole Van der Linde gang would be dead, he helped and saved so many people, and it doesn’t even seem like the people he saved were sad about his death
They would've already prepared. They knew arthur had tb and would die from a bullet or from tb so they were already sad beforehand. Whilst the strangers had no idea thus making them sadder since they thought it was just a healthy man helping out
