I think it's very humane to take in consideration "life quality" of the horses and not trying to maintain them alive at any cost and suffering. Even if it's very sad.
Totally agree, the best way to say i love you is giving them the last act of kindness when all options have been exercised and they are sick or in pain.
So good to see Kylee make a guest appearance. Miss seeing her, I hope she is happy in her new job but will make more appearances. :D Sad to see the prognosis for the arthritic hip fracture horse (forgot the name).

They all seem to load well, that's a huge plus. Another tough one to watch. It's heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.
Pleased Fred and Credence got adopted together !! .. ouch, that last poor horse l think it is at the 🌈 bridge 😢. So much pain..all 4 with arthritis. That left hip looks like it has been broken and healed wrongly..added to that it has cancerous lumps all over it😢.. even though its heartbreaking 💔 you can't leave a horse in pain. Sugar and Willie, I'm hoping Pauly can help them..also the gorgeous Iceman too.. and fingers crossed 🤞 those lumps doc id going to remove are NOT cancerous..
Sugar Plum is in pain again😢 and poor Janis is in more pain as she now has an infection in her leg. It's awful having to 'keep her alive' just for the foal, and they can't give high dosage of Bute because she's in foal..what a predicament to be in..but we know they all do everything they can to make them pain-free and happy..those surrendered horses and ponies..l think their hooves were inbad ways snd they had someone come and do a quick clean up job..but not too good from what l heard..fingers crossed and prayers for them all..🇬🇧💕🙏✝️👏👍🐎🐎🐎🐎🐴🐴🇺🇸

He is! I was so excited to realise he's champagne once I noticed how light-coloured his eyes and skin are. I've never seen champagne other than in still photos. I'm in northern Europe, and the gene is really rare here.
I hope with a PSSM-friendly diet he can recover and get a better quality of life.

You have the most capable and talented staff! They have so much talent working with these horses. Your vets and ferrier are also top quality! It always amazes me when seeing them work how much kindness and compassion is there, not to mention expertise. And of course your riders and trainers are top quality! I'm so impressed by your operation. And it's because the people that work there are so dedicated and believe in their work. I can make an occasional donation but wish I could actually become involved. I can't help but feel that you're all my friends. Love the videos!

I'm so sorry about the Haflinger. I really liked him, both his body type and personality. He reminded me of my heart horse, who is also gone.

Which horse do you refer as Haflinger? to me the last horse Dave examined, with bad legs and lumps, looked like Irish cob or something like that.
@@MaijaKK That's what I thought first, too, which was why I fell in love with him. My heart horse was an Irish Cob. Lots of hair and feather, heart-shaped bum, small boxy cob head.
But I heard them refer to him as a "haffy", so that's why I assume that's what he was. The Amish also don't have a lot of Irish Cobs, but they do have Haflingers, and his colour was sooty chestnut, so...
@@antoniajuel9582 Okay, i see. I didn't hear that. I thought he was too stocky for being Haflinger. Also they don't have this much hairs and white socks on their legs and he has also a white patch under his belly. That's why i thought he can't be Haflinger. They are solid colour, no white patches on their body. If you google you notice the difference. This colour and body refers more to Irish cob.
@@MaijaKK I know the difference in Europe. But our traditional breeds don't look the same in the US as they do here. Their Haflingers look like draughts while ours are riding/driving ponies. Their Belgians are the size of our Shires and always chestnut colour; their Clydesdales are even bigger. Their Percherons are almost always black while ours are often grey, bay, or chestnut.
That said, it's possible he was a cob and didn't come from the Amish. Cobs over there are insanely expensive, though. Like 5x the price of ours. Seems weird to have treated an expensive, rare breed the way he had been treated. Unless, of course, he arrived in that condition from Europe, and some poor horse buyer in the US was tricked into paying way too much for a lame horse.

I wish people would realize that mini’s and ponies can not eat grass like horses! I’ve seen so very many lame only due to feed issues, no grain for them either! So sad!
Iceman is beautiful. Is he blind on one side? He seems to startle easily when you approached him from the side.
No, just frightened and worried.He is a VERY sensitive soul and super sweet, not trusting of people he does not know.
What size are your stalls? Ice Mans stall was 12x12. Turnout was close 3 acres.We closed off some due to laminitis issues.Grass is a no no.

They have been docked ( bobed) it's purpose was so it didn't get caught in equipment, plows, log chains, wagons etc..now the Amish still do is because they work..other places..it's just for aesthetic kinda like they do doberman and cane Corso and rottweilers..

Beautiful saddle, you guys are really lucky and you can use it for sure. Use it. You get a lot of Standies don’t you . That little appy is cute. He should’ve been taught manners a long time before you got it might have to take this a little easy and slow but get your point across. That little horse with no manners is he a gypsy banner because he short and wide where the saddle goes maybe it’s a poor little guy had two rough treatment. He’s got boo-boos all over in the past. I sure hope Dave is it saying to put him down at this point horses live with arthritis. He’s not a poor body weight check his teeth. I didn’t see him do that. Maybe fighting for food in the pen. Horse plus puts everything down almost

Did you see how gently the iceman came got out of that trailer? He was so gentle and yes, we have Miss Kylie. Where has she been? Oh that’s right she quit for a while but she’s back for vacation right did do a little help. Glad you’re back.

I believe he's "champagne", which tends to come with light brown or hazel eyes and some speckling on the skin. This would be the gold champagne, which looks very much like palomino, but they're actually chestnut with a dilute gene.
Old age and everything that accompanies it, comes to all of us eventually.. if we are lucky.. dealing with arthritis, myself.. glad to see that their comfort is the priority ❤️❤️

Not trying to be rude, but can we stop blaming “the Amish”? Like anyone else there are good and bad owners. The thing is, because of their beliefs and use horses in farming, like an athlete there are bound to be problems. It’s like saying most car accidents happen within a mile of your home. They have horses more than others. Therefore they’re bound to have more difficulties. They depend on their horses.
I believe its more so of their "horse ethics" are very different from most American horse owners. I personally live in Pennsylvania Amish/ dutch , and its a proven fact they train breed and maintain their live stock very different from us . Also to them these beautiful creatures are livestock and are disposable 😢😢

If this was about my comment about putting an animal down when nothing else can be done, that is the best way to show you love them to let them go, i am not just supposedly running my mouth i do what love is, i had to put my soul cat to sleep because he had diabetes and a bad skin infection. He would have had to stay on pain killers for the rest of his life, would you still have him live suffering that much? If so you are a heartless person, i loved him enough to say goodbye. I won't say it didnt hurt like hell but it did. So check your attitude before you judge judge.
