I guess I'm happy for Stanley, but honestly this feels stupid. It's a water bottle/thermos. Fads fade. Stanley better be careful and not overestimate future sales. This could backfire hard.
Thermos is actually a brand name. Kind of like calling paper tissue "Kleenex".
@@michaelrmurphy2734 *vacuum flask
In theory, they could get caught on some of the colors, but I'd imagine most companies are using JIT now. The lead times on these are probably pretty short.
Forecasting "basics" ie things aren't seasonal items are pretty easy to trend out. Seasonal 1 time items are way harder.
(Used to work in a very large apparel corporation and our department had basics and seasonal items.)
@@michaelrmurphy2734 I did some bad internet research. There was a court case in 1962. "thermos" lowercase is allowed by anyone. Capitalized is trademarked.
Yeah. I'd be squirreling those funds for product expansion or rainy days. Cash in hand is always good for a corporation.
What shallow lives some people live! It’s just a cup!
Well, everyone in Canada wants a Stanley Cup! At the end of the post season in the NHL!
I was confused. Someone posted video talking about the Stanley cup. Walmart incident and I was like they were selling fake Stanley cups out. Walmart and people lost their minds what come to find out it's just these mugs........
😂😂😂
Toronto has been wanting one since after 1967!!
When I saw the title of the video I really thought that's what it was.
Haunted by the ghost of Tim Horton!
I hate TikTok trends...
You would love it if you had a product that you were selling
Seeing grown adults running inside a Target for a cup is something I never thought I would see. Also lining up outside a Target 2 hours before it opened.
Let alone toilet paper
Sounds stupid.
It's honestly sad, each day we get more lost as a society
New news...when I was young I couldn't wait to become an adult now there are no adults. Generations running around crying "adulting is hard". This is why you see large people in the stores with rings in their noses, purple hair wearing pajamas. I attended a funeral and a young "woman"-child wore pajamas! We are watching the de-evolution of humankind.
Capitalism has tainted our species
People thought the "pet rock" was dumb and now people pay $45 for a cup...................absolutely insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like the saying goes, "A fool and his money are soon departed"
that goes great with "a sucker is born every minute"
That is so awesome love seeing old companies get back in spotlight
Yep like the brand Champion
This is stupidity at its finest
i never even heard of that company before..has been around for 100 years?
We’re doomed as a society
Yeppers
Just circling that drain.
Tik Tok is working as planned. Controlled hive mind.
lol
No we're not!!!
So It’s a big cup? Earlier today I had no idea what I kept hearing about the Stanley cup craze. Of course I was thinking hockey. So, people are going nuts over a cup? I think ive heard it all now. I have been using a contigo cup for
5 years. It’s nice. It holds my drink.
I was just sitting here sipping on my old contigo... love it! I heard they changed the topper/spout and they leak now. Hope this one lasts me another 9 years! I can't imagine needing a whole collection... or buying something just because it was the in thing to drink water out of!
Agree. SO DUMB
It really is a good thermos but I'm not going out of my way to get one
LoL I thought it was hockey too.
My old Contigo has been run over (by me) lol.. it’s dented , and scratched but it works great. I did get a new one this year as a gift.. but not as good as the old one. Anyway. I Ike laughing at grown up folks running out for a cup.
I’m glad I got the old school Stanley thermos that was made in the USA.
Is it worth the hype. Can I buy it from you
Where are they made now? China?
@sunshine9993 Yes, and they have lead in them. I don't understand how it's legal.
Good to
Know that as a country we have our priorities together 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄.
😅
Who here when you first heard of a Stanley cup craze, you thought hockey?
Ha ha ha!!!!!Um No!!! Nobody!!!! Not 1 sinGle Person Champ!!!!!!💫
When did NBC (Nothing But Crapp) start doing infomercials?
I have long been a fan of Stanley and I am glad for their new success...but this makes me want to hold off on buying their products until it gets less trendy.
Can wait to see the rush to buy vcr tapes
Yup, we’re at the end of times. Meteor please destroy us now.
😂
As somebody living in Britain, I should probably highlight that this apparent cup craze isn’t currently happening in the UK. This has come out of nowhere.🤨😆
Yeah, us American's in general, especially women, are trendy idiots with their husbands money. $45 a cup and housewives are buying them up like crazy when they should be buying something they need instead of want.
Americans just need to buy more and more crap. I drink a galon of water a day and i don't see the apeal of these bulky cups.
as an american, this is the first im hearing of this lunacy
That makes me happy to hear!
@@lealmelisa When throwing shade at least get the words right it's gallon not galon. As a person that has had several Stanley products it's not just a bulky cup. I bought my first one in 1984. It's older, longer lasting and stronger than you!
People are idiots… its a thermos…
Wake up!
Funny how fickle shoppers are, go look at any resale store you’ll find every size shape and form of these tumbler coffee mugs, yeti come to mind over priced . 😢
There’s a sucker born every minute.
Overconsumption at its best!!
Truth hurts
I bet the counterfeiters are working overtime to make more in China to sell online🥤
Danny devito (msp) voice as a used car salesman!
I found a stainless steel tumbler in a tree a week after a 4th of July parade. washed it well, bought a new lid and a couple of stainless straws. All in all cost me $7.00 for the lid and straws. Will keep ice for 24 hours. It works fine. I don't need another insulated tumbler.
I see little kids in love with them. I only hope they’re filling them with healthy stuff not sugary drinks. These aren’t small cups.
why is this news?
It's so crazy how I walked past these thousands of times in stores over the years, and all of a sudden it turns from a commodity to a fashion statement. Really strange...
I’m so confused 😂
This is just like the Hydro Flask craze from a few years back. All the VSCO girls were using them.
When everyone was buying Yeti I saw a comparison between Yeti and Walmart’s Ozark Trail which turned out to be comparable at 1/4 the price. I’m still using my Ozark trail years later. Just not paying that much for a pastel color or if I wanted it pastel I’ll buy a can of spray paint.
I bought WalMarts “BUBBA” 2 sizes, one for long haul the other for sitting around the house sweating in the Southern summers. One’s a 32oz teal the other is a 24oz deep purple. Good to go. Although I’d like to find another 32oz because after 5 yrs I’ve got 2 places the paint chipped off. Hand wash ONLY so, I’ve done pretty good. ✌🏻
imagine crying over a cup
If it’s a craze, how come nobody knows about it?
$45.....????🙄
You're not 14
I guess we are too old, because it is one
@@twolegs6045 I know right. What it is made out of? Gold on the inside? I guess people just love wasting money.
You must not be a 13yo girl who likes pastels.🤣
It's a cup
A cup, made in China, probably by kids. I don't know how people get excited about a cup.
@@LynnP441
They're paid actors, no doubt
Love how media has to pump it up when no one cares 😂
this is something definitely people care, x10 sales in 4 years, this is insane. people making lines at target right now waiting for the new stanely.
@@paira23the media is absolutely pumping this product.
This happened organically. But, if I was a smaller company and I thought my product was great, I'd be sending free samples to these groups / blogs left and right.
There is nothing organic about making your kids fake excitement to sell a product in an ad disguised as a news story.
Did they just skip over YETI? How dare they!
they've done test & the yeti outperforms the stanley
This design is VERY MUCH like my Dunkin Donut cup I have been using for 15 or 20 years that they quit selling years ago, I like mine because of the handle, the bottom of the cup fits those small auto cup holders well & MINE the top snaps on
At least the thermos came with it's own cup.
I bought a Stanley French press for my boyfriend last Christmas. Cost a pretty penny, but worth it. Keeps liquids warm or cold for 9 hours!
NICE so does my double walled cup I got for free for testing out a BMW at a convention!
Really 😊
Bought a 1950s King Sealy glass Thermos at a thrift store for a buck fifty. It will keep percolated coffee piping hot ( if it is full) for 80 hours, oh good for me
9 hours isn’t very long for a thermos. I’m not familiar with a thermal French press, though.
I lose my water bottles all the time, mostly through forgetting it somewhere, sometimes I have people let me know that I left it there, and go a grab it, but mostly I forget it, so I am not going to spend 50 some dollars for a water bottle knowing that I will forget somewhere!
Perfect for you. The thrift shops, will be full of these things. A buck each.
People are waiting in line for a cup!?!? The stupidity of people is astonishing.
I thought this was about the Stanley cup hockey trophy
So does everyone in Canada!
This sounds more like a commercial.
There is only on Stanley Cup and it is not this trash. Get a grip people.
The old saying,(simple things please simple minds).
Oh, I thought it was the hockey Stanley Cup
Dad had a green Stanley thermos in the 70s and 80s when he worked at the post office. Mom filled it with coffee every day before he took it to work. I wish I knew what happened to it!😭
My Dads was green too, from the 70's! I need to ask what happened to it, I'm curious now if he still has it.
lol, my Dad had a thermos as well. Though I think my Dad was more active than my Mom in the morning and pretty sure he filled it himself.
Btw, I think we may be conflating brands. I think Thermos is more like Xerox. It's a specific brand, but has morphed into standard lexicon. (There is a specific word for this phenomenon, but I can't remember. Kleenex is another example of this.)
Bad internet research says: lower case "thermos" isn't trademarked. Capitalized is trademarked.
_In 1962, Judge Robert Anderson ruled that thermos was a generic term, due largely to Thermos's own publicization and lack of diligence in defending the trademark. Aladdin (or any company) could mark its bottles with a lowercase "thermos", while the Thermos company retained the uppercase usage. This decision rendered the trademark partially genericized in the US Second Circuit (New York, Connecticut, and Vermont), but it remains a registered trademark in the rest of the US, and in over 100 other countries._
@@HKim0072 My Dad worked nights at the post office. He left for work in the evening. I guess that's why I remember.😊
@@HKim0072 Oh, you're right about the Thermos brand! I wonder what we called them before Thermos became ubiquitous?🤔
Stanley was my go to coffee mug I became a hubba bubba guy lol
This is just crazy. It’s just cup!😮
What are you? Lightning McQueen?
I literally thought it was about the NHL. I'm getting old.
same. I was so confused why there was a Starbucks Stanley cup.
Also great for the environment! Reusability, less waste & drinks taste better out of stainless steel!
I was thinking that was likely the impetus. 10+ years ago, we didn't care that much about plastic etc. Just assumed they would recycle plastic properly.
I literally would have 1 case of water and 1 case of vitamin water just sitting on my back shelve in my office at all times (would refill every week).
Totally missed why this mug became popular. Personally I don’t get it. I just use my trusty mug I have had for years.
Trump tweeted about it and it became popular.
Like Hawaii
I love the thermal for hot stuff, unfortunately it doesn't have a cover!
Please make those with covers too!
If it's shaped like the NHL Stanley Cup, I'll buy one.😊
ATTENTION NHL, start the production.
I thought the exact same thing.
You gotta be down bad if you in line waiting for a water cup I ain’t gon lie muddy
$45 dollars for a indestructible cup = complete morons LOL
I do not understand isn't this just a cup
I bought one because it survived a fire and still had ice.. that’s like the ultimate test
The penguins would want a Stanley cup
This is SO stupid. Vanity & Materialism
A year from now it will be forgotten. Just like the Yeti
Stupid people buying and hyping up stupid things. Capiotalism/consumerism at it's finest. Only payed $10 USD for my tumbler at my local Walmart and it has served me faithfully for years.
This is ridiculous. All this fuss for a tumbler??? My son got one for Christmas from his cousin, and prefers to use the other, plain one he got from his sister. Its not a Stanley. He just likes that its plain and he likes the design and features better, no flashy flask for him! As an accounting major, he is very practical and down to earth.
Whats important to women?
Functionality..nah...price...nah.durability who needs that...but those pastel colors omg..gotta have one now!
I looks like any giant tumbler ever.... sorry i dont pay for names
The Social Media FOMO is real.
i hate the internet...
Oh no I needs it
I don't get this at all, what craze is this? Why is this so confusing what is going on? 🤔
I have a Stanley hammer. Pretty cool.
I hate those cups and I’ve been making tumblers since 2016. People like them because everyone is a follower waiting on someone on social media to tell them what to like.
I remember the cabbage patch craze😂
My friend has one, and he’s like StAnElY’s ArEn’T fOr GiRlS💀
Literally never heard of it
consumerism reaches peak
People complaining about the Stanley mug craze must have never seen or heard of an iphone.
It’s about time they got their recognition. I used to recommend these over yeti at bass pro. Good company
These people are allowed to vote.
Let that sink in...
Yup ! I grew up with the Lunch Kit Boxes !!! I am not surprised ! Their an awesome brand and have been around for a Long time ! 💯 👍
These be the same fools saying "capitalism is bad." 😅Enjoy your cup
I was given a stanley for my birthday. Only have used it once
Won't be caught with it in public
Lol
Crazy how they change the color of the cups and people buy em.😂 goes to show you that people are stupid.
I still remember when swell was popular. Literally every single kid in school had one 😂
People: cost of living is so high People: i want a $100 cup to be cool
This is the only trend that is actually good bc at least people will be hydrated
Are they still made in the USA though?
Is there a Li Jon version with diamonds?
It sells like hotcake because it simple and elegant design and high quality🎉❤
Ok I officially want to join the craze.
The fact this is "new" is rather hilarious. Stanley and Aladdin thermoses and coffee cups have been used by construction workers, factory workers, hunters, hikers, picnicers, pilots, and even military personnel for an easy 100 years. I've been using a 16oz Aladdin for 20 years. I have an older Stanley cup and 2 old Stanley thermoses. But, I'm glad Stanley is getting some attention, and that I can laugh at these stupid people.
I bought one after my friend's ice drink still had ice in it the next day in a sleepover party during summer. Sooo good!
Me: Drinking from a hydroflask tumbler. 🥰
This is why aliens dont visit us .........
Girls, calm down, it's just a cup! Ozark same cup from another vendor - $12.97
Many scream YETI. I have one and it's really nice too.
$45+?
I.Qs truly ARE plummeting.
So much for Yeti, Arctic, Ozark Trail, etc.? Can't say that I'll trash what I already have. Good that Stanley created a market for its cups, but 🤷♀️
Bro the world is turning into NPCs they’re worshipping cups.
Wait until the Disney adults hear about Corksickle
Why people are paying $45 for a water bottle when you can get it for $9.99 at Walmart is beyond me 🤷♂️
Silly, but a useful product. Happy for this company to have a wave of success. Now that schools have bottle fillers instead of fountains, kids crave special drink containers. I hope these cups work well.
These are actually a really bad design for all but fitting into car cup holders. Since when does having a narrow bottom and a gigantic, wide, top heavy cup make sense otherwise? Most of these cross eyed kids are just ending up with a cup that is easy to knock over.
So my Yete is out of fashion?
And I felt guilty over wanting the Canada goose least the coat is super warm!
