well done you .........got a lovely fire wood saw there ..........send some dry sunny weather over to ireland ....... been over 9 months since we seen the sun , save for 5 days in september ........
Good advice on getting an older saw running. You sure made the recoil repair look easy! Gotta love when an auction saw runs well. Great older Stihl, those are tough saws!
Iabout a week ago, i rescued a Mac 10-10 auto off of marketplace, it was dirty, been sitting , got it home cleaned it up, done the cks you discribed, has strong compresion, squirted it with mix this thing took off like a new one, did the Buckin tune on it, sweet little 10-10 and for the small price of 25 dollars.
I have n 036. Its my second 036. Gutsy saw these for the cc. My grandad borrowed it to cut down 6 furr trees running a 25" 3/8 bar n chain and it didnt hold back. These trees where where a solid 4-6 foot through. Awesome saw
Great old saw, and one of those that will start up easily after long term non-use. I heavily modded an 036 jug and put it into an 034. I think I made a pop up piston and also milled the cylinder base.....so many years ago I can't remember all. It made for a very powerful saw considering the displacement. I've worked it hard and it is still running well today. An ear punisher with much of an open muffler mod.
I had an 036 but then I got an illness that affected me. Gave it to my brother-in-law and he has run it for years. Have no problems with it but I’m sure it needs a good turning. My saw though came with a decompression button. At times it would be finicky but once it ran you were good for the rest of the day, or time one ran the saw.
As soon as you checked the high low jets and they were 1 1/4 and 3/4 I figured it would run just fine. Guess the recoil broke and it was put on a shelf
Just got a batch of 3 sthil saws and one that I just went over is this model, the 036. It looks like the clutch drum bearing ate into the crankshaft on mine. There is a quite a ridge next to the e-clip slot. I guess I have to replace the crank because of that? Thanks for the input.
Good morning Tinman, I have a question about the MS230. It starts, but stalls and when it does run, as soon as you squeeze the throttle, it seems to choke out. What would you suggest I check for and what can I do as a home owner?
I have to say, these 036's can be stubborn. I have one now that will not run. Full rebuild, Hyway top end and it will start cold, but not run more than 5 seconds. It won't hold vacuum so another seal leak. I might need OEM seals, I think these aftermarket seals are suspect.
I got a 272. Starts and runs, will rev when cold. Saw gets hot, bogs out and dies on me. Air leak? Had it to a dealer once, said nothing wrong with it?
На 361 откручивается винт глушителя к картеру двигателя и тут надо на фиксатор резьбы поставить, думаю не помешает! Сальники 61 хускварна подходят на 266, 268,272?
just a couple of things, you should have pointed out the exhaust leak. you tried to wipe off the soot from above the clutch cover and I noticed the underside of the top cover was black. I've seen exhaust leaks melt the plastics and sometimes they don't take much to sort out (like the muffler is about to fall off from being loose). the other thing is you didn't show how to check the automatic oiler is working.
Hello tin man, I have a cylinder and piston from a P41 66ccs that I don't need and I can offer you to rebuild a chainsaw on your channel with Portuguese parts, if you are interested please tell me
I have an 036 I put a new cylinder and piston on. It runs but smokes like a freight train and will not WOT no matter where I set the jets. I've been told it may be the case gasket leaking. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.
Ahhh nothing like the smell of an old saw being run again after sitting almost 20 year's I know it well. Some smell like mothballs some like a moldy old shed/basement some like laundry detergent and the worst I've had are the one's that smell like like... Well let's just say a kitty litter box so you know where these old saw's have been stored lol! I've had much fun dragging these type of deal's home, love my "0" series saws. Another good video Tinman, take care.
I did not know this was a formal event. Sorry for showing up in a t-shirt
If I knew, I'd have worn my going to town Jordache
My 036 is the gem of my meager collection. Grew up firewooding with my uncle who has a 034 that stihl runs great!
I sold one of those years ago the man raved about it .. it was a screamer

That 036 is beautiful man plenty of life in her.✊🏻🇦🇺 good score
Great score Bud!! That will be a great saw with a Tinman Port job!!! The T-Shirt makes me laugh every single time!

Gotta love when an auction saw runs well.
Great older Stihl, those are tough saws!
One of my favorite saws to heat up! Done a few of these with similar transfer work that you use. Love an 036
That's a nice 036! Great to hear it run. If your ever looking for a good home for it let me know.

Nice saw! I’m working on one for a friend damn thing floods no matter what! Carb kit and should be good!
Another good scoop. You have picked some nice apples so far maybe one time you could get a rotten one... ya just never know. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙
Sweet! Looks like that one's read to cut some wood!

Love the 036/360. I'd buy it
Awesome channel, great information thanks for another good video. Nice when auction stuff turns out to be good and not junk.
I've been lucky at the auction so far.
Looks like a really nice saw to add to your collection. Thanks for the video!
As soon as you checked the high low jets and they were 1 1/4 and 3/4 I figured it would run just fine. Guess the recoil broke and it was put on a shelf
That's my guess also
Thanks, my 021 limming saw has been acting up
Gonna play with it again, after 60 a little saw helps the back a bit. Thanks for the tips.
I recognize that fancy shirt, a Bunyan hit. 😂
Yoooo Tinman port and pipe that saw! I have an 036 and wouldn't trade it for anything! Solid runner!
I would add to look at the piston and rings. Lot of great information. Take care
He did that in the last video, I imagine this was meant to be more of a novice tutorial since he didn’t include that
I love my 036 what a great saw that looks like a good one to looks like it’s in pretty good shape good score tinman
036 red lever what a beauty
It’s a red lever??? Dang, didn’t even notice. Thats a unicorn. What a snag.
Does it mean anything besides the color?

I've had a few like that in the past. Sometimes the simplest solution is the right one.
Some times they just don't want to run....

Check your tank vent
Nice buy Tinman 👍.
Like the shirt tinman😂

If it only has one paw you must be dealing with a small saw !! 😂
Like magic!
Hey Tinman! Hey everyone else! Great find there. I'm curious - how does the 036 compare to a 262XP?
They're pretty similar power and weight wise
Love it
My Stihl 075 with no decomp is hard to pull over 111cc😅
I have to drop start my saws. Can't do the left handed pull thing
That's a nice saw
Great video, I'm looking for that model of saw, so if you're interested let me know thanks and GOD BLESS
Bonus video thanks Sawyers Anonymous leader
What about the 034???
Are they as good as the 36's??
Good video

Man I miss that shirt!
When cutting the rope, always cut toward your friend and not your thumb.
You can get another friend
This going to help know what to look for while I'm searching for a stihl chainsaw from the 90s.
026??
