Do you know of a bigger jug/piston set for that 038 mag? I’m looking for a bit more power from that old work hose. I used mine on wild fires for a few years, like the rpm’s from a Swedish saw, but my ole German work horse got the job done ✅
Great tips and warnings about those small seals👍 free all and aerokroil are the 2 best penetrating oils I've tried. The g660 pro I've got has a carb that says Walbro, don't know if it's real or not but it runs great, tunes easily and seems to hold it pretty well! Definitely ready for your farmertec build, as I've been thinking about ordering their g372 kit aswell!
Thanks for the information on the differences between the various 038’s. Stihl and their numbering system still confuses me. I understand CC’s , but to be an 038 and have three different displacements is odd.
Stilh still made the 038 magnum into the 2000's it was marketed more as a farm saw and they made them in Brazil, my dad bought a brand new one in 2001.
Would it beat the 361 by Stihl? I have a cord question on a Honda engine. It's not retracting quickly. I think it's just sticky and stiff. Any recommendations on how to clean it and make it softer. I tried winding it tighter and lubing the spring. It's the cord or the spring causing issues
Hey tin man have you ever heard of creepy oil it’s the consistency of a lighter weight oil than three and one and it has the ability to creep its way down through the threads really well you might want to check in on getting a small bottle of that or you could put a drop of oil on the threaded portion of the crank or clutch and it might help before you go using heat on it
Had the siezed clutch issue on a 038 fb, for seals. Tried 3ft pipe lever on a ratchet or air impact or both...but wasn't easy due to that shallow fit on the socket. Probably used mapp torch as well..
I have a 045av rebuilt it in 1988 and again in 2007 now i'm to old and weak to pull that beast fast enough to get it started .I now use a husky 61 practica ,nice saw but not near the power of my 045 even after it was ported for fire wood cutting. It can hardly pull a 20 inch bar in fir
Hi there Tin man, hey love your work Brother! I have a quick question for you. I've got a old Pioneer saw and a very heavy 100cc saw and wanted to know what you think of them and who bought the company all those years ago? It's even got a glass fuel bowl on it. Take care 🤠🤝🇦🇺
Have you already tried to remove the clutch with an impact drill working against the compression of the top end? Regarding shaft seals: I use small drywall screws and put them in the brass of the seals. Then, pull them out on the screws with pliers. Great vid! Love your stuff and good luck with that clutch.
i think im a hoarder,i have like 9 saws that most were junk , i rebuilt them now people are like hay can i buy one of those , im like noooooooooo, have a 38 super biggest i have thanks for that info

Try grinding the end of your socket to a nice square edge to get the most hex on that clutch
That's exactly what I did with one of my sockets for this reason. Typical on almost all Stihls.

Love the attention to detail. I’m the same way. No such thing as good enough!
Do the circlip ends need broken off on the highways? They make it real easy to install and take off with pliers.
You can do it Tinman. You've got the entire Buckin Army behind you!
I’ve messed up a few seals. Hope all is going good with the family keep up the great content.
Hi, I need a little help with the Stihl 038 AV, I'm wondering which is the thread on the clutch, left or right. Thank you
That upside down dog on the 038 is messing with my ocd lol
Nice video as always! If worried about the bearings being sticky would like to remove both seals and check first I would think, just in case.
Thanks for the information on the differences between the various 038’s. Stihl and their numbering system still confuses me. I understand CC’s , but to be an 038 and have three different displacements is odd.
I agree. I guess I don't speak "Stihl."
Great tips on the seals thank u sir have a great week.
Correct if I'm wrong tinman those were supposed to have factory pop up pistons in them ? Mine did that's why I'm asking
I've never seen an 038 mag with a pop up here. Not sure how they came. Tbis one is bone stock for sure.
Very timely. Gotta do this on an orphaned Jonsereds 49 SP.

The diameter of the cord might be too big causing it to be stiff
@@stephenneill2621 I can't even remember how I fixed it. Washed it or replaced it

Those are tough little seals did a few 028's a while back took hours to get them out.
Great tips Timan,thanks pal
Parts on stihl 038 will fit stihl 038 avs? Thx
Why are the bucking spikes on upside down
Had the siezed clutch issue on a 038 fb, for seals. Tried 3ft pipe lever on a ratchet or air impact or both...but wasn't easy due to that shallow fit on the socket. Probably used mapp torch as well..
Nice job on this video Tinman! You covered the finer points very well. You will get that clutch off. 💪
Just to add tinman I don't miss one of your episodes or bucking Billy Ray's
Thankyou for your support!!

I don't like sthil chainsaws alot but I'm down for old Husqvarna 372 chainsaws all day long
I have a old ms 290 the heavy one. Love it
I had an038 super and it was a good saw. Had tons of power and torque it was very slow or at least it seemed very slow

Cool Vid, Tinman! Am I wrong or are your Dogs mounted upside down?
Good video my friend. Very interesting 👌
Sealed the deal...😆🤣😂. Heat gun and penetrating oil that will free it up. TC Tinman Mahalo 🤙🤙🤙
I've been wondering on all of these 038 videos... the dogs are upside down right?
Please turn the dogs around! Lol. Good stuff brother!

But I ain't jacked my lumber baby

I would use a deep well socket that fits the clutch and use downward pressure and hammer it off.
Kako je nastelovan karburator, koliko je odvijen H i L saraf ?
I have had a saw not very long ago that had a bees or a wasps nest in the exhaust port
I had one like that a couple years ago.
I think the best thing for still is to go back to the o38 Magnum style and weight and durability cuz they'll be outlasting the newer stuff when it falls on its face
Thanks brother
Motoseal? Chainsaw shop exclusive or is a newer product that I have not heard about yet?
Permatex makes it and probably other brands aswell. Available at most auto parts stores.
I have a 038 super that I would turn loose of.
The 576 is a beaut.. just heavy..
Thanks!
Your original 365 muffler mod waa a little fugly lol
Just weld a socket onto that clutch Lol
