Great timing, we just booked our flights to Malaysia yesterday. It will be 24 years since we were there but this time we are taking our kids and my father inlaw. Looking for some good food recommendations.
coming to Malaysia for food is the only reason alot of ppl would fly for . the sight seeing is just a bonus . even as a Malaysian , the one topic that bonds everyone from all cultures and race is food.
A special melting pot of peace, happiness, harmony, acceptance, tolerance, respect, success for 3 ethnic communities, Chinese, Malays, Indians, Nonyas. Leaders of Some countries should see and emulate this instead of causing conflict, division, confusion, distrust within their own countries or amongst other nations.
I notice while you were eating in Lai Foong, a muslim's call to prayer in the background. Truly our country a melting pot destination. I hope this harmony will continue as long as I live.
For breakfast, in addition to the kaya bread and coffee, I also 10:55 recommend 2 half-boiled eggs. Then you have a complete set of typical Chinese Malaysian breakfast at a KOPITIAM.
We like KL more than Bangkok. When we travel to Thailand we fly to Bangkok and come home from Singapore. That’s how we get the best of both cultures. Melaka is also very charming too. The bus from Melaka to Singapore is really economical. Did you know Air Canada has direct flights between Vancouver and Bangkok seasonally and year round between Vancouver and Singapore? 🙏
You guys are so accomodating with each other..this is the way to live together, and have fun together...u know..each has their own likes, preferences and dislikes..I see him bending for her..and that is so gentlemanly...a trait I wish more man do for their lady...right happy wife is a happy life..esp with this lady, she is smart, articulate and wise..its not necessary..let her have her way. Peace and love.
Whooow! I am so happy about finding you guys. Finally some people I feel giving right impression about another country. Often I feel nearly annoyed because there are very insecure but rude people, comparing all the time, instead just relax and enjoy - and not a lots of superficial like many UA-camr does. Thank you for your kindness and lots of valuable information. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️✨
Also, on ordering banana leaf rice: The waiter will ask whether you want white or briyani, go for white. The rice comes with vegetarian side dishes usually 3 types, pickle and dried chilli. You can choose your meat dishes between masala, varuval or curries or you can go for fried meat dishes. And then they'll come with three types of curries to pour on your rice. Dhall (vegetarian), fish curry and chicken curry. You can go for all three or go for whichever you want. They'll also give you some crackers (papaddom) and either you eat it on separately or crush it with your rice.
You guys have just reaffirmed why you're my favourite couple ytuber. You are so lovely and it made me so happy to watch you enjoying KL. Wonderfully made vlogg with beautiful music. Nailed it!❤. Love from 🫶🌺🇲🇾

I just got back from spending 2 months in KL. This brings back so many good memories! I would say ordering Indian food as a foreigner was initially challenging and confusing (both at stalls and at budget restaurants). I've watched so many UA-camrs wowwed by banana leaf meal; personally, I think it's overhyped. I tried two different places and was disappointed both times (Ricksha Bangsar & Restaurant Chat Masala). I ended up loving a small hole-in-the-wall in Brickfields called Lawanya Food Corner, which became my go-to place for lunch. The items weren't necessarily consistent, but I would ask the owner to recommend 3 or 4 items with my "mixed" rice meal. The first time was ok. The second time was amazing, and I was hooked. I'm also a fan of My Biryani House (HYDERABAD DUM BRIYANI) and MY HYDERABAD DUM BIRYANI, if you're in the mood for biryani. Sri Paandi Curry House is also a nice, popular place but crowded and very confusing in how to order; it has my favorite masala dosa.
I’m truly fascinating to watch you both once again come back to Malaysia. As a local Malaysian we have so much excellent foods you both have yet to try. Thank you for coming back and hope you enjoy it
Hi FloraandNote good morning. Ryan here. Nice to meet you. Saw you video regards to banana leaf rice. Usually is available around 11 am - 2.00 pm. If the restaurant served banana leaf rice, The server usually will bring a banana leaf to your table and the server will ask you either normal rice or india rice. It comes with 3 vegetable of day, pickles & dry chili The rice and vegetable is unlimited refill. To complement it you can order side dishes, fish, chicken, lamb and etc (no beef is served as their religion does not permit). Also 2 type gravy chicken and fish for you to choose from. Some places have crab curry. Other than that you can order rasam and yogurt to go with the banana leaf. Finally wash down with teh tarik or masala tea. You can try this place in brickfield Vishal Food & Catering or this 2 other place which served banana leaf all day, bananabro and Big Leaf BLR. Actually I grew up in brickfield which consider little india. Where there is a lot of indian restaurant that served roti canai, thosai, chapati and other Indian breakfast from around 7 am until 11 am and after that 11 am onwards banana leaf rice’s served. If you need a friend / guide. My wife and me would loved to volunteer. Also congratulations on your lands and future home Koh Samui. 🙏🏼 one day when we visit in Koh Samui. Hop one day when we visit we can rent a cosy airbnb/hotel place on your land. 😊
Thank you for a brilliant video, makes us want to visit, just to eat!!, the dish with various curries and condiments is called a thali. Wishing you both safe happy travels!!
Welcome back to Malaysia. Please come again. Love your content. Yes! Food in Malaysia is amazing. Me, as a Malaysian, there are still places to eat that I haven't explored yet. Malaysia is always full of unique, new, and delicious food😅❤

As a foreigner I remember I was always angry when they served banana leaf rice a plastic banana trays. So I kept looking for places where they still used real leaves:) That place in Bangsar was fantastic, very local and really popular!
Welcome back to KL! I first started watching you guys when you first came to Malaysia and have been following you guys ever since. I highly recommend this banana leaf restaurant called Raju's Banana Leaf in Petaling Jaya (they serve other stuff like thosai and roti canai in the morning and BLR in the afternoon. Their fried squid is also a must try)
Bear in mind, when you order hot kopi or kopi-o, the mindful vendor tends to give you a pinch more milk or sugar (respectively) so you can stir to taste. So, if you like it less sweet, just make sure you don't over-stir. That way, the milk or sugar isn't fully infused into your coffee and avoids being too sweet to taste.
The Oldest Hindu Temple in Kuala Lumpur are so beautiful. Flora and Note I'm so happy to see you both back in Malaysia. I'm looking forward to this series. Flora and Note have a wonderful vacation in Malaysia.
You should visit melaka also. The city has the oldest functioning church of st peter by the Portuguese which is often missed by many though being a little further from the city center. It was built in 1710
welcome back to KL. For banana leaf rice there are everywhere but the nicer ones will definitely not in Bkt Bintang, nearest to you guys would be in little India around KL sentral/ Brixkfields area
Love you guys and KL! Your KL video from last year introduced me to Lai Foong and the lala noodle man. It's now one of my faves. Thank you and safe travels!

Love you guys Terry and Lela aka Roongfar from outside Las Vegas
Hello. Thank you for your video. I believe the banana leaf meal you described is the South Indian (Tamil Nadu and Kerala) meal called thali. Ingredients in little dishes vary.
Mr. Note, you have been Blessed with a beautiful wife. I'm glad that you didn't let her get away. Thank you both for your beautiful videos. God Bless!!!
