The 'O' in Kopi O means the color black in the Hockien/Teochew Chinese dialect (my own original dialect) or when it comes to drinks, it technically means milk-less. Really love dipping my kaya toast in softboiled eggs as well. Enjoy your Ipoh trip and can't wait for more vlogs from the both of you. Sawatdeekrup! 🙏

Ipoh is a foodies melting pot and famous for its soup shredded chicken flat noodles, kaya toast with half boiled eggs, salted chicken, dim sum and wan tan noodles. You should visit the Thong Sui Kai (Dessert street) for dinner or supper. Enjoy yourselves, guys in Ipoh!

Before Malaya has its independence, most immigrants from China mostly located here in Ipoh.. Because there is work in the mining industry. My mother was relocated there in her teenage years fleeing from Japanese invasions in China. So, Ipoh has a lot of historical events. Don’t forget to visit the many beautiful caves like Gua Tempurong / Perak Cave Temple too while in Ipoh…. Cameron highlands is only an hour’s drive away from here too if you love tea and tea plantations.
Both of you are cute together! I feel good too to hear you guys speak Thai hahaha. Flora is so adorable. And this VDO made me have the new destination to visit in Malaysia. Hi Flora and Note...i am so so glad that you guys actually drop by in ipoh...if you guys still in ipoh or dropping by anytime soon again, do let me know...let me bring you for an ultimate ipoh food tour..!!!!!
Flora & Note I can't tell you how much I love you guys. You both are my favourite YT couple. Been following you guys from when the pandemic started and now that you have visited Malaysia my home hope we have given you both memorable happy days too as you have given us. Your sharing have always been superb👍💞
I just spent 3 days there last week and was so bored. Old town. Walked half an hour outside old town just to see something new and it was a bit dreadul to me. I spent a lot of time walking and taking different roads back to my hotel in Old Town. It's a really run down and old city. You have the occasional 'new' cafe that is a bit hip but that gets boring to hangout at really quick. I really wanted to like ipoh but there wasn't anything there that was worth more than a half day stay to me. This video highlights what you can do in half a day at most. If i did it all over again, I'd rent a scooter and go explore much further outside of the tourist areas of Old Town. To give a little more context, i took the train from kuala lumpur and was literally the only one that got off at Ipoh other than a lady whom also sat next to me. She was visiting family in Ipoh. A packed train. What does that say about the locals who didnt even stop in town? And when i got off, ipoh felt extremely quiet. The train station was literally at the outskirt of Old Town so a five to ten minute walk and you're at concubine lane. There's enough tourists in old town that filled up concubine lane but that's about it. No nightlfie.
I’m constantly shocked at how many people speak Cantonese in Malaysia .. reminds me of old Chinatown here in Vancouver while growing up and heading down on the weekends.. hearing the distant chatter is calming to the soul 🙏🙏
Chinese who came to Malaysia more than 100 years ago were mostly Cantonese & Hokkien, some Hakka & Teochew and other ethnics too. But these days the younger generations here rarely speak Cantonese & Hokkien anymore especially in big cities like KL & Penang. They mostly only speaks Mandarin, which is sad to see them not knowing their mother tongue.
Ipoh have various dialects groups besides Cantonese like the Hokkiens, Hakkas, Hock Chews, Hainanese and others. I am Hokkien, I grew up speaking my dialect mixed with English and bahasa. Watching TVB Cantonese shows and speaking with my classmates and vendors really helps my Cantonese. Sadly, the younger generation mostly speaks Mandarin now, hardly uses Cantonese. 😕 I still use Cantonese to speak to the vendors. Older vendors loves when young people speak their dialect.
@@owlilian28 the world is big but closing in on one another and so unfortunately mother tongues are being lost and in some cases become extinct .. I had the opportunity as a youth to learn but being north americanized, I played more than I learned .. fortunately, I have the opportunity everyday to learn what I didn’t including various dialects so keep up the good work of placing smiles on the elders of the community 🙏🙏
Ipoh and the nearby towns are Cantonese speaking, with pockets of Hakka speakers in some areas. Likewise with Kuala Lumpur. However, towns in northern and southern part of peninsular Malaysia are Hokkien speaking.
I visit Ipoh some 40 years ago. I. speak Cantonese, Chaozhou, Huayu, English, and also Laotian (on extension, Thai?). That came easy to me, as I was born in Chaozhou, lived in Vientiane, Laos in my childhood, then went over to Hong Kong to study and work, in between to Australia to get my tertiary education, and now retire in Singapore. Now, seeing and learning more about Malaysia.
Ipoh is also known as "Pah Lo" among the Chinese Malaysians...a city well known for its cuisine and natural attractions like limestone hills and caves. Great that you both enjoyed the "kai si hor fun", white coffee with toasts, egg tart and the famous Tambun pomeloes. That candy floss was too beautiful to be "destroyed" 😂🤓 Don't forget to go for the famous "nga choi kai"( bean sprouts chicken ) salt baked chicken and a few well known pastries. I have a good laugh where Flora broke the stalk of that pomelo 😂🤣😂🤣
Ipoh is also Michelle Yeoh’s hometown, she is our town’s idol. Reminds me of great childhood memories seeing you walking through the alley and eating the food that I grew up with. I miss it so much 😢❤

Well done guys! Being able to speak many local languages is a great added value to your channel. Speak to locals and get us those insights that we would otherwise lose. Some Caucasian Vloggers barely scratch the surface of what they see.
Ipoh and Penang is popular for their range of cuisines and street foods. Pomelos is the best in Ipoh (Tambun) and second to none in the country. A giant sized oranges or grapefruits. Ipoh is more or less the epicenter of good street food in Malaysia..
One more thing about ipoh is known as “Hipster city” because there is a lot of aesthetics cafe and restaurant.. and you guys gotta try Miker Pizza and Nasi ganja tho it’s really famous in ipoh
I just started watching your UA-cam channel, and I love both of you. You are a very sweet and beautiful couple. I can see why people are welcoming to both of you. You're so positive and receptive to other cultures and food. ❤❤❤❤ I have been to Ipoh, lots of good delicious food and pretty spots.

Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia and is almost equal to the size of Peninsular Malaysia. Famed for its dense rainforest and paradise beaches, it is no surprise that Sarawak is one of the top tourist spots in Malaysia. With so much to offer with its rich culture and historical heritages, there are many Sarawak attractions that you should check out. Sarawak capital is Kuching.
Ipoh is divided into Old Town and New Town by the Kinta river. Be sure to explore both. If you still in Ipoh on Sunday morning, you can visit the Memory Lane flea market for some nostalgic shopping!
There are a couple of Ipoh restaurants in Vancouver, and I've been to Kuala Lumpur before. Now I have to visit the actual Ipoh when I go back to Malaysia
How can you eat that cotton candy beauty?!?! It’s too pretty to eat…and then it’s melting it’s sticky gooey ness all over your hands-note to self-bring handiwipes lol. Love the three lanes hope you visited each one and maybe more video on it? But probably moving on lol. I’m always here for ALL of it! That pomelo looks delish, and I’m not a big fan of grapefruit-I have to put spoonfuls of sugar to defeat the bitterness. But that looks unique and I’d want to try it. Soup looked scrumptious too. Safer travels smooth rides joyful explorations 🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️
Hi Flora & Note, the Nam Heong white coffee is more towards sweeter taste. You guys should try the "Kedai Kopi Sin Yoon Loong" white coffee (just opposite of Nam Heong White Coffee shop) which has stronger & less sweet taste white coffee. On the other hand, the White-Flesh Pomelo is mainly only sweet. You guys should try the Red-Flesh Pomelo instead. it has sweet & sour taste which taste even better. Also, it taste good too when eat it cold
The reason they call it White Coffee is because of how they roast the coffee beans. They add butter to it when roasting thus giving it the buttery taste. I am originally from Ipoh.
Hello guys, Another great video ! Which area do you recommend to stay in Ipoh near to convenience stores, street food markets, attractions and public transportation ? Thank you very much. Keep the good job Take care !
13:37 the private tour guide drove us to the same farm 4.5 years ago.... even the pictures on the wall still the same.... do you like the sweet or sour pomelo?
Actually, the home or cradle of the white coffee is the cafe smack opposite to Nam Heong known as Sin Yoon Loong. Unfortunately, SYL have been very complacent and quite contented with the brisk business they've been doing for generations out of that sole and only location. They've been approached by interested parties to take their business down the franchise route or otherwise extend their footprint but they've somehow not seen the potential of it or, as mentioned earlier, totally contented with what they have. As a result, Nam Hong/Old Town Coffee stole a march on them and, sadly, everyone beats a path to this Nam Heong shop thinking it's the birthplace of the Ipoh White Coffee.

With so much to offer with its rich culture and historical heritages, there are many Sarawak attractions that you should check out. Sarawak capital is Kuching.
Always enjoyed your all your videos. Thank you...

Ipoh is divided into Old Town and New Town by the Kinta river. Be sure to explore both.

Cheers to the bloopers comeback 🍻 cracked me up haha
Hehehe glad you still enjoy them 😊
How can you eat that cotton candy beauty?!?!
Very impressive 👌 like the mix of the old town and country vibe - Rainbow Slinky 😃 - Thanks F & N 👋👍🙏
Sarawak food such as Kolo Mee, Sarawak Laksa, Kampua Mee, Kueh Chap, Tomato Crispy Mee, Belacan Bee Hoon, Kompia, Kacangma Chicken, Midin Belacan, Manok Pansuh, Sarawak Layer Cake & Tuak.
Ipoh almost the best and great city in Malaysia. Its well developed and all facilities great. Thats why Ipoh so famous as place the for retirement...😅
Developed? No proper buses and taxis, I won't call it a developed place.
No, the white flesh one is the best.
The reason they call it White Coffee is because of how they roast the coffee beans. They add butter to it when roasting thus giving it the buttery taste. I am originally from Ipoh.
Hello guys,
Another great video !
Which area do you recommend to stay in Ipoh near to convenience stores, street food markets, attractions and public transportation ?
Thank you very much.
Keep the good job
Take care !
Thanks for your info .....
I don't know if anyone notice, most of Malaysia speaks English, cantonese, Mandarin, and Malay. Talented for sure!
