Yes, Mike made a big mistake. You hv to go to kl sentral, take a bus to genting. Take a cable car up. Cheap. Grab is expensive to go up and down the mountain.
Thank you! 😊🙏 We loved our time in Malaysia and can’t wait to return and explore even more. We will still have more videos coming out for this trip as I get them finished. 😊 Thanks for your comment and for watching our video. 🥰
Many years ago I drove up the hill with my gf and spent the weekend at the Highland Hotel. A few months later I spent a weekend at the main Genting Hotel housing the Casino and Grand Tuck Shop. On both trips I remember parking my car at the car park and then walking among the clouds. Was cold but an experience that I still remember to this day.
LOL. The servers should have told you how to eat the Xiaolongbao (Little Dragon Bao). The soup in the bao is boiling hot! You are supposed to bite off the tip of the bao and sip the soup out of it first. Then, you continue to eat the rest of the bao with the ginger vinegar. When you put the whole bao into your mouth, I was like OMG. That is going to burn.
Haha, that would have been helpful! 😅 Since filming this, we’ve had them more, as they were delicious, and we found out the proper way to eat them. It does make all the difference. 😂
youre lucky, as a local i want the mist/cloud view of genting, the vibe is magical i only experienced it once in my 5-8 visit the mist/cloud gives Gibli's movie vibe
It did have the vibes! But for our first time, it would have been really cool to see all of the scenery! Hopefully you’ll get another opportunity to experience the mystical mist!
We went there back in Dec 2016, there were 7 of us. Rode a charter van from Masjid Jamek Kuala Lumpur and then took the Genting Skyway. Only 3 hours there sadly, not enough time. There's simply too much to explore. Lots of shops and theme parks. Two shops caught my attention: Padini Authentic Store and Country's Tidbits & Candies Cottage.
Interesting! We didn't really pay attention to the stores themselves. I think we've had our fair share of malls in Southeast Asia. 😅😅 But we agree, three hours is not enough time! We'll keep an eye out for those shops if we go back. Thanks for watching!
@@mikeandashley Also glad to see few of some my favorite vloggers made their comments on this video. And just be alert, when making a day excursion, make sure you secure a timely journey and plan your disposal time for exploration around it, just to avoid the unnecessary experience. But above all, great to see you guys made the best time out of your excursion trip. Wonderful. 😀
@@mikeandashley I have been following Alana Dunsmore and Our tiny adventure since they visited Malaysia, well, almost all the vloggers I'm subscribed have been to Malaysia. Many of them have returned for multiple visits. Alana came to Malaysia, first as a student. Last year, she came back for few visits, her mom came along. This year, she converted into Islam in KL, married to a Malay guy, her parents came to witness the marriage at Wilayah Mosque, KL. The couple had visited Scotland recently where Alana came from. That's a little bit I know about Alana. For our tiny adventure, if I'm not mistaken, they are from America. There are many family vloggers that visited Malaysia from America, Canada and UK. 😀
That's look fun! Btw, you should just taking cable cars (gondola) from the bottom up to the top, and stopping over at the temple and it is much cheaper than taxi/grab.
We were told the first portion of the cable car was closed for maintenance. There were some signs that confirmed that it was undergoing maintenance, but we were also able to make it all the way down at the end with no issue… 🤷♂️🤷♀️ Oh well! We still had a great time. And now we know for next time. 😊 Thanks so much and thank you for watching. 😊
Thanks so much! We’re pumped you enjoyed it. And we did enjoy Malaysia. We still have a few more videos to share, and we can’t wait to return and explore other parts!
The place that you stayed don't have shuttle buses , you should stay higher where most hotels ( not apartment ) provide shuttle services . Even better if you stay at First World Hotel , right on top of the mountain , affordable and they have more than 7000 rooms

0:51, Yeah that's what I don't like about Malaysia is the weather, it almost always rain in the afternoon, sometimes even at night and overnight because it's unpredictable and the worst is flooding from December to March because of the ITCZ. Your a bit lucky hat you visit Malaysia on the 1st week of July or mid July, the weather is good, except the weather is gonna be unpredictable. I was in KL 2 weeks ago I am lucky that for 5 days in a row, the weather is good, it's cloudy, but no rain.
Rainy season starts in October or November until May or June in Malaysia if I not mistaken, almost every afternoon day, it rain with thunderstorm, not good. Oh really? Okay I see.
That's not how you eat the xiao long pao.. put it on the spoon, poke a hole in it so that the soup leaks out.. wait a few moments for it to cool down, then enjoy it.. 😅
Usually, Malaysians would stay at the hotels/apartments that's half way up Genting Highlands closer to the start of the cable car and where Premium Outlets are. Cheaper and a bit more convenient. 3 nights would be just right to explore Genting Highlands and its theme parks.
We went to Langkawi, but it was raining the whole time, so we basically sat in a hotel room. 😩 We've had some of that food, but not all of it! Sounds like we have to come back!
@@mikeandashley ouch like ..it's true Langkawi hotels are expensive but also luxurious...I don't stay in hotels ..there are rooms for rent in Langkawi that are cheap, there are like hotels...come to Terengganu it's good to eat the good wind by the beach and redang islands, islands stop, Cotton Island and Tenggol Dungun Island, Chemerong Waterfall in Jongok Batu Village.. Staying at Midhills of Genting Highlands has its advantages as there are more eateries and cafes that serve local foods at a more reasonable price. You guys should try the hotpot meal at Gohtong Jaya area. Imagine enjoying a hot steamy meal at a Highlands restaurant at an outdoor sitting with 19'C environment at night?😊😂
1:04, It happens all the time anywhere I travel, book uber or bolt, but the driver canceled on us, not good. Even us, after arriving in KLIA2, my dad book grab, but the driver canceled on us, not good. But we try again, luckily, the driver accept the booking, it's good. It's better to take a train, but from 6am to midnight. When you arrive in Kuala Lumpur for the 1st time, did you take a train or grab?
We arrived in KL by bus, then took the metro to downtown, it was an alright experience and a long story. 😅 We've usually had good experiences with Grabs in Malaysia, this was a first, and likely because there aren't many drivers because it's a tourist place. Oh well, we learned!
I see. Do you remember how much you pay to take a bus per person. There is a train that connect from KLIA2 and KLIA1 to KL central and from memory, it cost 35 Ringgit for 1 person and it take almost half an hour, but the train is not 24/7, 1st train depart at 6am and last train depart at midnight, meaning at 1 or 5am, there is no train going from the airport to the city, so take bus or grab, it's a good option.
The proper way to eat the soup dumpling is by using a spoon, First drink the soup then later the dumpling. If you put the whole dumpling in your mouth, it will burn your mouth.
What's the name of the night market place you guys went to and tried Laksa? I'll be going to Malaysia late November and Genting is one of the place in my itinerary

Oh dear... that's very hot....the Dio lung pao with some broth in it.....tell you what...you are suppose to eat by placing it inside the spoon....lift the pao puncture a small hole let the broth drip and do I'll the spoon and you can drink the broth then eat the pao...get it....
That sounds like a much better approach! 😅🥵
