Years ago, there was a push to stop calling full length animated movies cartoons. The preference was to call them animated movies. Now we're back to calling them cartoons. Be that as it may. The original animated movies developed and presented all the imagination and creativity that brought the stories and characters to life. Now they want to make "live action" versions (which is impossible when you are presenting fictional places and characters) that are "beat for beat" the same as the original. Where's the imagination and creativity? They are just copying (stealing) the work of those original creators. And that's just 1 example of why the transition NEVER WORKS!

They don't want to represent you, they want to erase people who look like you, who are in their r a c i s t minds the "most wh ite" people. Scandinavians, blondes, redheads.
Fellow Swede here. I've done tons of research on Vikings, there's historical evidence of one half-Mongol Icelandic Viking, but that's about it. Vikings are anti-DEI! Plus, they say they're making fantasy, not history... But Hiccup says in the intro of the movie that they're Vikings. Nothing about Viking says diverse, other than who they raided. They did not discriminate against their targeted victims.
Why is it acceptable that Hollywood diversify Vikings? I don’t care if it’s sci-fi, Vikings are not diverse. Don’t use European culture if you want to cast the movie like it’s modern day Los Angeles. It’s insulting and I have stopped supporting all shows and movies that do this now.

Right. They're depicting a culture belonging to a real, extant ethnic group. By the wokeist's definition, it's straight-up cultural appropriation.

@@grimnar6725 When the live action Aladdin cast a white actor to play one of the visiting princes, stated to have come to the kingdom as one of many FOREIGN royals seeking to win the princess' hand in marriage, the woke crowd kicked off at the idea of there being a white character in the movie, despite the story logic for why he'd be there being perfectly sound and his part relatively minor. While these movies are fantasy and deal with non-historical themes and realities, it could be argued that these fantasies are being modelled on real-world culture. It's a demonstration of the total lack of creativity and imagination in today's entertainment industry.
As someone who absolute loves the animation movies.. i just hope the live action movie flops

Its actually sort of amusing watching Hollywood flop about like a fish desperately trying to find water.
I AGREE WITH SHAD! Animation as a medium has SEVERAL SUPER POWERS LIVE ACTION DOES NOT! For example, the disbelief factor is much more lenient with animation than live action. And when they remake it to live acton there are always time where people get pulled out of the movie because "that does not seem possible, or real". While with animation we can accept a lot more. And that's just 1 example of why the transition NEVER WORKS!
I'm surprised they didn't bring up the Ruffnut casting as well, feels like it's in a similar category with how she looks nothing like the character, is hard to believe she's the twin of Tuffnut (which if I remember right they're suppose to be identical, minus gender differences) but then it all snowballs to the future live action sequels that you know they'll do.
Ikr. In the animated series Tuffnut made an insult to Snotlout and he was going to punch him but stopped and asked “you’re the guy, right?” Cue Tuffnut saying in a high voice “No.” so, how would that scene work out now that the twins look nothing alike?
