For those that don't understand how much creative control JK has on the HP franchise and all of it's tentacles, I worked for a certain company that has a certain "land" dedicated to her IP and we had a freeze on hiring and tailoring new train conductor coats because the fabric she approved for the project was no longer available. So we had to wait for her to respond with her approval of our replacement samples. Her SPECIFICALLY.
Comes with the IP and how she managed to maintain control over it. Publishers will not offer that to authors today. That said I don't really care about Harry Potter stuff. Yeah I've seen the original series of movies twice, but that's about it. (which is more then. LOTR, that shit was so vague and boringly long that I refuse to even watch it a 2nd time). I do however admire the depth of research Rowling went through in naming spells and curses. Millenials like them for the same reason kids in decades gone by liked their versions. I saw all the films in the theatres. Not many films have I seen wherein families were huddled in blankets with the book version of that film placed in front of their kids with flashlights in hand, following along page for page. That, to me, was the sole reason I respect the books: it got kids reading and loving the stories and characters in a way I've not personally seen before. So that's at least 2 generations of people who grew up loving the books that will be watching the series. This needs to be handled with care and, I for one, am glad the author is on board with this series.
Emma Watson portrayed that character in such an insufferable way (whether it was directed or not) that I genuinely don't give 2 eff's about that character anymore. I wouldn't care if they turned Hermione into a dude. It only got worse once I realized that Emma Watson turned pretty insufferable herself as well.

I was wondering if you guys could discuss in depth the risks that are apparent with this series. The whole point is to be more faithful to the books. You have already touched on the casting issues. Does it make sense to deviate from the book with regards to casting if the whole point is to be more faithful to the source material? For my part, I hope they stick with a primarily British cast. There is also the issue of longevity of the cast. Can they all commit to 10 years’ worth of filming for this project? Any major cast changes could potentially be pretty jarring in the middle of the series. The Dumbledore recast in the movies was a speedbump, but I feel that Michael Gambon nailed it (except for those weird scenes in Goblet where he is roughing up Harry). In addition, there is the whole aesthetic thing to think about. What will Hogwarts, Diagon Alley and other sets look like? Will it match with the films? If not, then Universal Studios has a big problem on their hands. The same holds for the music, costumes etc… You have got a big merchandising issue that could either pay off big time as everybody buys all new sh*t from the series or people won’t. In any event, I would like to hear your thoughts on these matters.
It is her creation and has a right to decide how it is represented on the screen. Why are the wokeists trying to subvert her very successful creation? Let them create a new show of their own that does that. If the audience cares for it, it will do well. If it is not what they want then it will flop.

I'll go you a few better on Hermione: 1) she's described as having frizzy hair and buck teeth (she magically shortens them in the books). So, you want to do that to a black character? 2) Rowling is in print as having said that Hermione is based a good deal on her. So, if you make her black, you have the biggest form of cultural appropriation - Rowling is saying she identifies as black??!!! 3) while Britain has a far larger percentage of cross racial marriage you would then in the end section have to picture a black frizzy haired kid mixed with a ginger. Yeah, that's going to come out well. I loved the series. It is diverse (though sadly low in Pakistani kids, just Indian) to represent the modern Britain I live in today. There are great characters like the Patels and Lee Jordan. Give them more screen time (Lee rocks in the early books and is involved with Fred and George after school...though their exit from Hogwarts is epic). Don't screw with the original Warner's. Just cast as it's written. If you do I'll watch, if not, I'm checked out before you start. Why? Not because I'm regressive, I just think the original is a near perfect coming of age, good vs evil story. Just do that. And I never like Emma Watson. So just cast well, and get someone who can act for that role.

Burning copies of Harry Potter only makes every other copy worth more because there’s less copies in rotation, therefore making JK’s copies worth more and makes her slightly richer than she already was.

One genius told me they went out and bought new copies of the entire series just so they could burn them...and was completely baffled when I told them she got paid for the copies the id10t purchased to burn. I was wondering if you guys could discuss in depth the risks that are apparent with this series. The whole point is to be more faithful to the books. You have already touched on the casting issues. Does it make sense to deviate from the book with regards to casting if the whole point is to be more faithful to the source material? For my part, I hope they stick with a primarily British cast. There is also the issue of longevity of the cast. Can they all commit to 10 years’ worth of filming for this project? Any major cast changes could potentially be pretty jarring in the middle of the series. The Dumbledore recast in the movies was a speedbump, but I feel that Michael Gambon nailed it (except for those weird scenes in Goblet where he is roughing up Harry). In addition, there is the whole aesthetic thing to think about. What will Hogwarts, Diagon Alley and other sets look like? Will it match with the films? If not, then Universal Studios has a big problem on their hands. The same holds for the music, costumes etc… You have got a big merchandising issue that could either pay off big time as everybody buys all new sh*t from the series or people won’t. In any event, I would like to hear your thoughts on these matters.
It is her creation and has a right to decide how it is represented on the screen. Why are the wokeists trying to subvert her very successful creation? Let them create a new show of their own that does that. If the audience cares for it, it will do well. If it is not what they want then it will flop.

I'll go you a few better on Hermione:
1) she's described as having frizzy hair and buck teeth (she magically shortens them in the books). So, you want to do that to a black character?
2) Rowling is in print as having said that Hermione is based a good deal on her. So, if you make her black, you have the biggest form of cultural appropriation - Rowling is saying she identifies as black??!!!
3) while Britain has a far larger percentage of cross racial marriage you would then in the end section have to picture a black frizzy haired kid mixed with a ginger. Yeah, that's going to come out well.
I loved the series. It is diverse (though sadly low in Pakistani kids, just Indian) to represent the modern Britain I live in today. There are great characters like the Patels and Lee Jordan. Give them more screen time (Lee rocks in the early books and is involved with Fred and George after school...though their exit from Hogwarts is epic). Don't screw with the original Warner's. Just cast as it's written. If you do I'll watch, if not, I'm checked out before you start. Why? Not because I'm regressive, I just think the original is a near perfect coming of age, good vs evil story. Just do that.
And I never like Emma Watson. So just cast well, and get someone who can act for that role.
