- After plug and spot welding on my classic mini, my attempt to treat the bare metal within seams, as best as possible, to help with rust prevention was fairly successful. I will do this for every seam within my restoration - Lone Star Mini
Good idea with the Zinc primer, might give that a try. Thanks to your video showing the spot weld drill and punch tool, i have them being delivered this week! These will change my life in the garage lol! 😎
Great job. The seam sealer will help too 👍
Thanks Pete.. This was my first attempt and will find a proper technique, but it did work...
Lets hope my E-Coat gets into my seams like your trying to with your Zinc!
I'm sure with dipping in an entire bath it will do for sure...
Sacrificial zinc is a great idea mate. Although I am left wondering if you'll ever need it after you left thoes bare panels for months and they looked fresh as a daisy! I've had rust pretty much appear in overnight here 🤣
I’ve learned that when I sweat on the panels, they develop a spot of surface rust. Now with that said, it’s wonderfully difficult not to drop beads of sweat while working in the shop 🥵. I will still protect the metal as best as possible as who knows where it might end up one day….
Great idea, have you considered an aerosol nozzle that takes a thin plastic tube to spray into the seam.
I will have to take a closer look at the nozzle. But the fan spread suggested there were multiple holes…. But definitely a good idea… will check
Just watched round mum and dads your ears should be burning x
Hello to Mum and Dad!!! I do miss y'all!
