  • The Mini Puzzle continues.. after you fit one piece, you look for the next adjacent piece to fit into place. My next piece is the rear valance and the associated corner brackets. My restoration is truly giving me a solid journey with a fare share of problem solving. One small success then another challenge presents itself… Lone Star Mini..

Awesome channel! I’m a Texan who imported a Mini as well! Can’t wait to actually drive mine around (needs work). These things are an emotional roller coaster with all the rust and shoddy workmanship that they often had in the past from shady body men. Anyway thanks for the inspiration!!

Awesome.. where are you located? There is a small Texas Mini FB page if you're interested.. called 'Classic Minis of Texas'. A bunch of neat folk and we/they get together every once in a while. Well I am doing a complete/full restoration and touching every square inch and learning a great deal as I go. If I can be of assistance, please let me know.. randy@LoneStarMini.com

Love watching and listening to all of your videos. Great that you take advice from others and how you adapt it to your skills, you have become pretty skilled overtime and your making it look easy. Well done,as we all know it has been a huge challenge in which you are completely achieving each time.
Again fantastic work. Can’t wait for you too complete.

Wow.. you honor me in a couple ways.. thank you Albert. I have enough panels now to complete the entire back end and up to the A-posts and fwd toe-board. I am trying to do something every day. I realize my videos are not perfectly clear as I often go back and think "dang.. I should have said this or that.. ", but at least the journey is documented to some degree..

Nice new metal, just make sure you have the correct holes for the fog lights etc that you are going to mount and their cables before that valance get welded on 👍

Thanks Ed… no fog lamps down on the bumper for me. I’m going to place one on the boot lid (as of today)

Don't forget Randy, they were hand built, they were no way near perfect out of the factory. Job will be a gud un soon lol

I feel like i'm certainly building it by hand outside of forming the metal.. although I may have to 'fettle' some of the metal for sure..

Randy, The rear valance holes for attaching the bumpers never line up correctly as they always have more material than you need,
The way to do it is fit small dia nuts and bolts so you can slide the valance back in to the correct position to meet up with the arches
and boot floor flanges, This will leave the valance & boot floor edges not lined up then when all of the welding is finished simply cut
off the excess metal to realign the 3 flanges. I would most defenatly fit the second arch before doing anything else as the valance is
the last thing to put in place. The repair sections under the lights should be welded first. I hope this helps, Call me on WhatsApp if you
need me to clarify anything. Cheers Dave

thanks Dave.. while the current bolts have some slop in the holes, I will put in smaller bolts to give it more movement.. Good idea. Not sure how I can fit the new repair section (under lights) because I have the half back-end before removing from the rotisserie.. Need to give everything more thought...

What was Dave Jaguars suggestion on welding the plug? I too am a new welder and always having issue with it

    • @LoneStarMini
      @LoneStarMini  Рік тому +1

Just now seeing this comment…. The welding tip was just sticking outside/above the copper nozzle which I did not notice. Therefore there was virtually no shielding gas helping
